ਜਲੰ ਬਾ ਥਲੇਯੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਰਾਜ ਸਰਬੰ ॥
jalan baa thaleyan keeyo raaj saraban |

They ruled over all the places in water and on land

ਭੁਜਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਗਰਬੰ ॥੨॥
bhujaa dekh bhaaree badtiyo taeh garaban |2|

And seeing their own great physical strength, their pride knew no bounds.2.

ਚਹੈ ਜੁਧ ਮੋ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਆਨਿ ਕੋਊ ॥
chahai judh mo so kare aan koaoo |

They wanted that some brave warriors may come forward to fight with them

ਬਲੀ ਹੋਏ ਵਾ ਸੋ ਭਿਰੇ ਆਨਿ ਸੋਊ ॥
balee hoe vaa so bhire aan soaoo |

But only he could march against them, who could be greatly stronger than them.

ਚੜਿਯੋ ਮੇਰ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਪਗੰ ਗੁਸਟ ਸੰਗੰ ॥
charriyo mer sring pagan gusatt sangan |

They climbed to the top of the Sumeru mountain and with the blows of their maces,

ਹਰੇ ਬੇਦ ਭੂਮੰ ਕੀਏ ਸਰਬ ਭੰਗੰ ॥੩॥
hare bed bhooman kee sarab bhangan |3|

They took away the Vedas and the earth forcibly and caused the destruction of all natural principles.3.

ਧਸੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਬੇਦੰ ਰਹੀ ਹੁਐ ਪਤਾਰੰ ॥
dhasee bhoom bedan rahee huaai pataaran |

They earth went deep into the nether-world

ਧਰਿਯੋ ਬਿਸਨ ਤਉ ਦਾੜ ਗਾੜਾਵਤਾਰੰ ॥
dhariyo bisan tau daarr gaarraavataaran |

Then Vishnu manifested himself in the form of a Boar of terrible and cruel teeth.

ਧਸ੍ਰਯੋ ਨੀਰ ਮਧੰ ਕੀਯੋ ਊਚ ਨਾਦੰ ॥
dhasrayo neer madhan keeyo aooch naadan |

He penetrated into water and raised a thunderous shout,

ਰਹੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਪੂਰੰ ਧੁਨੰ ਨਿਰਬਖਾਦੰ ॥੪॥
rahee dhoor pooran dhunan nirabakhaadan |4|

Which spread equally throughout the universe.4.

ਬਜੇ ਡਾਕ ਡਉਰੂ ਦੋਊ ਬੀਰ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
baje ddaak ddauroo doaoo beer jaage |

Hearing this terrible shout and the resounding of the trumpets, both the brave demons awakened

ਸੁਣੇ ਨਾਦਿ ਬੰਕੇ ਮਹਾ ਭੀਰ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
sune naad banke mahaa bheer bhaage |

Listening to their thundering voice, the cowards ran away

ਝਮੀ ਤੇਗ ਤੇਜੰ ਸਰੋਸੰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੰ ॥
jhamee teg tejan sarosan prahaaran |

The war began and the clattering of the glistening swords and the sound of the furious blows was heard

ਖਿਵੀ ਦਾਮਿਨੀ ਜਾਣੁ ਭਾਦੋ ਮਝਾਰੰ ॥੫॥
khivee daaminee jaan bhaado majhaaran |5|

The luster of the swords looked like the flash of lightning in the month of Bhadon.5.

ਮੁਖੰ ਮੁਛ ਬੰਕੀ ਬਕੈ ਸੂਰ ਬੀਰੰ ॥
mukhan muchh bankee bakai soor beeran |

ਤੜੰਕਾਰ ਤੇਗੰ ਸੜੰਕਾਰ ਤੀਰੰ ॥
tarrankaar tegan sarrankaar teeran |

The warriors of winsome whiskers are shouting and the sounds of the blows of the swords and arrows are being heard

ਧਮਕਾਰ ਸਾਗੰ ਖੜਕਾਰ ਖਗੰ ॥
dhamakaar saagan kharrakaar khagan |

ਟੁਟੇ ਟੂਕ ਟੋਪੰ ਉਠੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਗੰ ॥੬॥
ttutte ttook ttopan utthe naal agan |6|

With the knocking and falling and the sparks are coming out from them.6.

ਉਠੇ ਨਦ ਨਾਦੰ ਢਮਕਾਰ ਢੋਲੰ ॥
autthe nad naadan dtamakaar dtolan |

ਢਲੰਕਾਰ ਢਾਲੰ ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਬੋਲੰ ॥
dtalankaar dtaalan mukhan maar bolan |

With the resounding of trumpets and knocking sound on the shields, the utterance of “kill kill” coming from the mouth is being heard

ਖਹੇ ਖਗ ਖੂਨੀ ਖੁਲੇ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤੰ ॥
khahe khag khoonee khule beer khetan |

ਨਚੇ ਕੰਧਿ ਹੀਣੰ ਕਮਧੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਚੇਤੰ ॥੭॥
nache kandh heenan kamadhan nrichetan |7|

The bloody daggers of the warriors have come out in the battlefield and the headless trunks are dancing in an unconscious state.7.

ਭਰੇ ਜੋਗਣੀ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਚਉਸਠ ਚਾਰੀ ॥
bhare joganee patr chausatth chaaree |

ਨਚੀ ਖੋਲਿ ਸੀਸੰ ਬਕੀ ਬਿਕਰਾਰੀ ॥
nachee khol seesan bakee bikaraaree |

The sixty-four female evil spirit (Yoginis) have filled their bowls with blood

ਹਸੈ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੰ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਰਾਲੰ ॥
hasai bhoot pretan mahaa bikaraalan |

ਬਜੇ ਡਾਕ ਡਉਰੂ ਕਰੂਰੰ ਕਰਾਲੰ ॥੮॥
baje ddaak ddauroo karooran karaalan |8|

And loosening their matted hair, they are raising their terrible sound, the most awful ghosts and fiends are laughing and the shrieking sound of the hideous vampires is being heard.8.

ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੰਤ ਮੁਸਟੰ ਕਰੈ ਪਾਵ ਘਾਤੰ ॥
prahaarant musattan karai paav ghaatan |

ਮਨੋ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੰਘੰ ਡਹੇ ਗਜ ਮਾਤੰ ॥
mano singh singhan ddahe gaj maatan |

The warriors are giving the blows of their fists and feet in this way as if the thundering lions have furiously attacked one another

ਛੁਟੀ ਈਸ ਤਾੜੀ ਡਗਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਧਿਆਨੰ ॥
chhuttee ees taarree ddagiyo braham dhiaanan |

Hearing the terrible sound of the war, the attention of gods Shiva and Brahma hath distracted

ਭਜ੍ਯੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਕਾਪ ਭਾਨੰ ਮਧ੍ਯਾਨੰ ॥੯॥
bhajayo chandramaa kaap bhaanan madhayaanan |9|

The moon also trembled and the noonday sun also fled in fear.9.

ਜਲੇ ਬਾ ਥਲੇਯੰ ਥਲੰ ਤਥ ਨੀਰੰ ॥
jale baa thaleyan thalan tath neeran |

ਕਿਧੋ ਸੰਧਿਯੰ ਬਾਣ ਰਘੁ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਬੀਰੰ ॥
kidho sandhiyan baan ragh indr beeran |

There was water everywhere upward and downward and in this atmosphere Vishnu took aim of his arrows on his targets

ਕਰੈ ਦੈਤ ਆਘਾਤ ਮੁਸਟੰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੰ ॥
karai dait aaghaat musattan prahaaran |

ਮਨੋ ਚੋਟ ਬਾਹੈ ਘਰਿਯਾਰੀ ਘਰਿਯਾਰੰ ॥੧੦॥
mano chott baahai ghariyaaree ghariyaaran |10|

The demons were collectively giving terrible blows of their fists in the way, like a crocodile aiming his blows on another crocodile.10.

ਬਜੇ ਡੰਗ ਬੰਕੇ ਸੁ ਕ੍ਰੂਰੰ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
baje ddang banke su kraooran karaare |

ਮਨੋ ਗਜ ਜੁਟੇ ਦੰਤਾਰੇ ਦੰਤਾਰੇ ॥
mano gaj jutte dantaare dantaare |

The trumpets resounded and the mighty and terrible warriors fought with each other in this way, as if the elephants with long tusks are fighting with each other.

ਢਮੰਕਾਰ ਢੋਲੰ ਰਣੰਕੇ ਨਫੀਰੰ ॥
dtamankaar dtolan rananke nafeeran |

ਸੜਕਾਰ ਸਾਗੰ ਤੜਕਾਰ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੧੧॥
sarrakaar saagan tarrakaar teeran |11|

The sound of the drums and horns was being heard and there was also the clattering of the daggers and the crackling of the arrows.11.

ਦਿਨੰ ਅਸਟ ਜੁਧੰ ਭਯੋ ਅਸਟ ਰੈਣੰ ॥
dinan asatt judhan bhayo asatt rainan |

ਡਗੀ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਰਬੰ ਉਠਿਯੋ ਕਾਪ ਗੈਣੰ ॥
ddagee bhoom saraban utthiyo kaap gainan |

The war was waged for eight days and eight nights, in which the earth and the sky trembled.

ਰਣੰ ਰੰਗ ਰਤੇ ਸਭੈ ਰੰਗ ਭੂਮੰ ॥
ranan rang rate sabhai rang bhooman |

ਹਣ੍ਯੋ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਅੰਤਿ ਝੂਮੰ ॥੧੨॥
hanayo bisan satran giriyo ant jhooman |12|

All the warriors appeared absorbed in warfare in the battle-field, and Vishnu caused the death and fall of the enemy.12.

ਧਰੇ ਦਾੜ ਅਗ੍ਰੰ ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਤਬੰ ॥
dhare daarr agran chatur bed taban |

ਹਠੀ ਦੁਸਟਿ ਜਿਤੇ ਭਜੇ ਦੈਤ ਸਬੰ ॥
hatthee dusatt jite bhaje dait saban |

Then he placed all the four Vedas on the protruding part of his teeth and caused the death and fall of the persistent inimical demons

ਦਈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਆਗਿਆ ਧੁਨੰ ਬੇਦ ਕੀਯੰ ॥
dee braham aagiaa dhunan bed keeyan |

ਸਬੈ ਸੰਤਨੰ ਤਾਨ ਕੋ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਯੰ ॥੧੩॥
sabai santanan taan ko sukh deeyan |13|

Vishnu commanded Brahma and he created the Dhanur-veda for the happiness of all the saints.13.

ਧਰਿਯੋ ਖਸਟਮੰ ਬਿਸਨ ਐਸਾਵਤਾਰੰ ॥
dhariyo khasattaman bisan aaisaavataaran |

In this way, the sixth partial incarnation of the Visnu manifested himself,

ਸਬੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਜਿਤੈ ਕੀਯੋ ਬੇਦ ਉਧਾਰੰ ॥
sabai dusatt jitai keeyo bed udhaaran |

Who destroyed the enemies and protected the Vedas
