ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਸਿਕੰਧ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਬਯਦੂਰਥ ਦੈਤ ਬਧਹ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਤਮੰ ॥

naimakhvaran bheetar aayo |Balram reached for pilgrimage at Nemisharan
ਆਇ ਤਹਾ ਨਾਵਨ ਇਨ ਕਯੋ ॥
aae tahaa naavan in kayo |
ਚਿਤ ਕੋ ਸੋਕ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਿ ਦਯੋ ॥੨੩੮੨॥
chit ko sok door kar dayo |2382|On coming there he took a bath and relinquished the sorrow of his mind.2382.

ਰੋਮ ਹਰਖ ਨ ਥੋ ਤਹਾ ਸੋਊ ਆਯੋ ਤਹ ਦਉਰਿ ॥
rom harakh na tho tahaa soaoo aayo tah daur |
ਹਲੀ ਮਦਰਾ ਪੀਤ ਥੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤਾਹੀ ਠਾਉਰਿ ॥
halee madaraa peet tho kab sayaam taahee tthaaur |Romharsh reached there running, where Balram was drinking wine
ਸੋਊ ਆਇ ਠਾਢ ਭਯੋ ਤਹਾ ਜੜ ਯਾਹਿ ਸਿਰ ਨ ਨਿਵਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
soaoo aae tthaadt bhayo tahaa jarr yaeh sir na nivaae kai |
ਬਲਿਭਦ੍ਰ ਕੁਪਿਯੋ ਕਮਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੨੩੮੩॥
balibhadr kupiyo kamaan kar lai maariyo tih dhaae kai |2383|On coming there, he stood there with bowed head and Balram coming speedily, taking his bow and arrows in his hands, in great rage, killed him.2383.

ਸਭ ਰਿਖਿ ਉਠਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਤਬ ਭਏ ॥
sabh rikh utth tthaadte tab bhe |
ਆਨੰਦ ਬਿਸਰ ਚਿਤ ਕੇ ਗਏ ॥
aanand bisar chit ke ge |
ਇਕ ਰਿਖਿ ਥੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਐਸ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
eik rikh tho tin aais uchaariyo |
ਬੁਰਾ ਕੀਓ ਹਲਧਰਿ ਦਿਜ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੩੮੪॥
buraa keeo haladhar dij maariyo |2384|Abandoning the peace of their mind, all the sages stood up and one of them said, “O Balram! you have performed a bad act in killing a Brahmin.”2384.
ਤਬ ਹਲਧਰ ਪੁਨਿ ਐਸ ਉਚਰਿਯੋ ॥
tab haladhar pun aais uchariyo |
ਬੈਠ ਰਹਿਓ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਡਰਿਯੋ ॥
baitth rahio kiau na ham te ddariyo |
ਤਬ ਮੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
tab mai krodh chit mai keeyo |
ਮਾਰਿ ਕਮਾਨ ਸੰਗ ਇਹ ਦੀਯੋ ॥੨੩੮੫॥
maar kamaan sang ih deeyo |2385|Then Balram said, “I was sitting here, why was he not frightned of me? Therefore, getting enraged, I killed him, by taking up my bow and arrows.2385.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਕੋ ਪੂਤ ਥੋ ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਸ ਕਯੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
chhatree ko poot tho kop bhare tih naas kayo binatee sun leejai |“I was the son of a Kshatriya and was filled with ire, therefore I destroyed him
ਠਾਢ ਭਏ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਰਿਖਿ ਸੋ ਜੜ ਬੈਠਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਕਹਿਓ ਸਾਚ ਪਤੀਜੈ ॥
tthaadt bhe utth kai rikh so jarr baitth rahio kahio saach pateejai |” Balram, making this request, stood up and said, “I am telling the truth that this fool sat uselessly near me
ਬਾਤ ਵਹੈ ਕਰੀਐ ਸੰਗ ਛਤ੍ਰਨ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਜਗ ਭੀਤਰ ਜੀਜੈ ॥
baat vahai kareeai sang chhatran jaa ke kee jag bheetar jeejai |Only such a behaviour should be adopted with Kshatriyeas, so that may be able to live in the world
ਤਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਮੈ ਬਧੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕੀਯੋ ਸੁ ਅਬੈ ਮੋਰੀ ਭੂਲ ਛਿਮਾਪਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨੩੮੬॥
taahee te mai badh taa ko keeyo su abai moree bhool chhimaapan keejai |2386|Therefore I have killed him, but now forgive me for this lapse.”2386.
ਰਿਖ ਬਾਚ ਹਲੀ ਸੋ ॥
rikh baach halee so |Speech of the sages addressed to Balram:

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਭ ਰਿਖਿਨ ਹਲੀ ਸੋ ਭਾਖੀ ॥
mil sabh rikhin halee so bhaakhee |
ਕਹੈ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਜ ਕੀ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
kahai sayaam tih dij kee saakhee |
ਇਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਥਾਪਿ ਰੋਹ ਹਰੋ ॥
eih baalak thaap roh haro |
ਬਹੁਰੋ ਜਾਇ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਭ ਕਰੋ ॥੨੩੮੭॥
bahuro jaae teerath sabh karo |2387|All the sages, bearing testimony to the killing of the Brahmin, said to Balram, “O boy! now you removing all your anger, go to all the pilgrim-stations for a bath.”2387.
ਕਬਿਯੋ ਬਾਚ ॥
kabiyo baach |Speech of the poet:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਚਾਰੋ ਈ ਬੇਦ ਮੁਖਾਗ੍ਰਜ ਹੋਇ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਕੋ ਬਰੁ ਐਸੋ ਦੀਯੋ ॥
chaaro ee bed mukhaagraj hoe hai taa sut ko bar aaiso deeyo |He (Balram) gave such a boon to the son of that Brahmin that all the four Vedas be retained in his memory
ਸੋਊ ਐਸੇ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਰਟਨੇ ਮਨੋ ਤਾਤ ਸੋਊ ਤਿਹ ਫੇਰਿ ਜੀਯੋ ॥
soaoo aaise puraan lagiyo rattane mano taat soaoo tih fer jeeyo |He began to recite the Puranas etc. in such a way that a appeared his father had been resuscritated
ਚਿਤ ਆਨੰਦ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹੂ ਰਿਖਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਜਿਹ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਕਉਨ ਬੀਯੋ ॥
chit aanand kai sabh hoo rikh ke man kau jih kee sam kaun beeyo |
ਸਿਰ ਨ੍ਯਾਇ ਤਿਨੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕੇ ਤੀਰਥਨ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੁ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਪੈਡ ਲੀਯੋ ॥੨੩੮੮॥
sir nayaae tinai sukh paae ke teerathan sayaam su raameh paidd leeyo |2388|Now there was no person blissful like him and in this way bowing his head and comforting him, the heroic Balram started his pilgrimage.2388.
ਗੰਗਹਿ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਜਹਾ ਮਿਲਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੈ ਬਲਿਭਦ੍ਰ ਤਹਾ ਚਲਿ ਨ੍ਰਹਾਯੋ ॥
gangeh sindh jahaa miliyo prithamai balibhadr tahaa chal nrahaayo |Balram, in the first place, took a bath in the Ganges
ਫੇਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਬੈਨੀ ਮੈ ਕੈ ਇਸਨਾਨ ਦੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਬਲੀ ਹਰਿਦੁਆਰ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
fer tribainee mai kai isanaan dai daan balee hariduaar sidhaayo |Then taking a bath at triveni, this her reached Hardwar
ਨ੍ਰਹਾਇ ਤਹਾ ਪੁਨਿ ਬਦ੍ਰੀ ਕਿਦਾਰ ਗਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
nrahaae tahaa pun badree kidaar gayo at hee man mai sukh paayo |Taking his bath there, he went to Badri-Kedarnath comfortable
ਅਉਰ ਗਨੋ ਕਹ ਲਉ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤੀਰਥ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰਹਿ ਆਯੋ ॥੨੩੮੯॥
aaur gano kah lau jag ke sabh teerath kai tih tthaureh aayo |2389|Now what more should be enumerated? He reached at all the pilgrim-stations.2389.

ਫੇਰਿ ਨੈਮਖ੍ਵਾਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
fer naimakhvaaran meh aayo |
ਆਇ ਰਿਖਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਾਥ ਨਿਵਾਯੋ ॥
aae rikhin kau maath nivaayo |Then again he came back to Nemisharan and he bowed his head before all the sages
ਤੀਰਥ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ ॥
teerath kahiyo mai sabh hee kare |
ਬਿਧਿ ਪੂਰਬ ਜਿਉ ਤੁਮ ਉਚਰੇ ॥੨੩੯੦॥
bidh poorab jiau tum uchare |2390|Then he said, “Just as you had said, I have taken bath at all the pilgrim-stations according to Shastric injunctions.2390.
ਹਲੀ ਬਾਚ ਰਿਖਿਨ ਸੋ ॥
halee baach rikhin so |Speech of Balram:
