ਜੋ ਸਖੀ ਕਾਜ ਕਰੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀ ਕਛੁ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo sakhee kaaj karai hamaro tih bhookhan kee kachh bhookh na hvai hai |O Sakhi! If you do my work, you will not be hungry for jewelry.
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਘਰ ਬਾਰ ਸੁ ਏਕਹਿ ਬਾਰ ਹਜਾਰਨ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
basatr apaar bhare ghar baar su ekeh baar hajaaran lai hai |The house is full of immense armor, (even) thousands taken at once.
ਮੋਰੀ ਦਸਾ ਅਵਲੋਕਿ ਕੈ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੀ ਹਿਯੋ ਮੈ ਪਛੁਤੈ ਹੈ ॥
moree dasaa avalok kai sundar jaanat hee hiyo mai pachhutai hai |O beauty! Seeing my condition, he will regret in his heart.
ਕੀਜੈ ਉਪਾਇ ਦੀਜੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਆਇ ਕਿ ਮੀਤ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਕਿ ਮੋਹੂ ਨ ਪੈ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
keejai upaae deejai bikh aae ki meet milaae ki mohoo na pai hai |6|Make me a friend by doing something, or come and give me a wish, I will not be able to find (me without my beloved) (ie I will die).6.
ਐਸੇ ਉਦੈ ਪੁਰੀ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਬਚ ਜੋਬਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਜਬੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
aaise udai puree ke mukh te bach joban kuar jabai sun paayo |Joban Kuari heard such words from the mouth of Uday Puri Begum
ਤਾਹਿ ਪਛਾਨ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੌ ਮਨ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਇਹੈ ਠਹਰਾਯੋ ॥
taeh pachhaan bhalee bidh sau man beech bichaar ihai tthaharaayo |So after understanding the whole situation well, I thought this in my mind.
ਦੇਗ ਮੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਚਲੀ ਤਿਤ ਕੋ ਬਗਵਾਨਨ ਭਾਖਿ ਪਕ੍ਵਾਨ ਲਖਾਯੋ ॥
deg mai ddaar chalee tith ko bagavaanan bhaakh pakvaan lakhaayo |Putting it in the pot, she went towards it and told the gardeners that there was a dish (in it).
ਸਾਇਤ ਏਕ ਬਿਹਾਨੀ ਨ ਬਾਗ ਮੈ ਆਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਕੌ ਮੀਤ ਮਿਲਾਯੋ ॥੭॥
saaeit ek bihaanee na baag mai aan piaaree kau meet milaayo |7|Not even an hour ('Sayat') had passed that the lover was given a friend in the garden. 7.

ਉਦੈ ਪੁਰੀ ਪਿਯ ਪਾਇ ਤਿਹ ਚਰਨ ਰਹੀ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
audai puree piy paae tih charan rahee lapattaae |Uday Puri Begum received Pritam and fell on her feet.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜੋ ਦਾਰਿਦ ਹੁਤੇ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਦਯੋ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੮॥
taa ko jo daarid hute chhin mai dayo mittaae |8|The poverty (poverty) of her (friend) was wiped out in an instant. 8.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਗਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਬਾਲ ਗਰੇ ਚਿਮਟਤ ਭਈ ॥
geh geh taa ko baal gare chimattat bhee |He (man) grabbed the woman and started to hug her
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਆਸਨ ਕੇ ਤਰ ਗਈ ॥
lapatt lapatt taa ke aasan ke tar gee |And the lap was folded under his seat.
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਆਸਨ ਸਭ ਲਿਯੇ ਬਨਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
chauaraasee aasan sabh liye banaae kai |By performing the eighty-four asanas well
ਹੋ ਆਠ ਜਾਮ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਹਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੯॥
ho aatth jaam rat karee harakh upajaae kai |9|Played happily till eight o'clock. 9.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਤਰੁਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਤਰੁਨੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਤਿਯ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਜੌਨਿ ॥
tarun purakh tarunai triyaa tritiy chandr kee jauan |Young women and young men and in the moonlight ('jauni') of the third moon
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਹਾਰੈ ਕੌਨ ॥੧੦॥
lapatt lapatt kar rat karai tin te haarai kauan |10|They used to fight with each other, who among them would lose. 10.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਕੋਕਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮਤਨ ਉਚਾਰਹੀ ॥
kokasaar ke mukh te matan uchaarahee |(He) reciting the tenets of the Kok Shastra,
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਪਬਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨਿਹਾਰਹੀ ॥
bhaat bhaat upaban kee prabhaa nihaarahee |Each other used to see the light of each other's garden.
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਆਸਨ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਬਨਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥
chauaraasee aasan sabh kare banaae kar |(They) performed the eighty-four asanas thoroughly.
ਹੋ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਗਰੇ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਕਰਿ ॥੧੧॥
ho bhaat bhaat rat karee gare lapattaae kar |11|He did many kinds of sports by wrapping his arms around his neck. 11.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਆਸਨ ਲਏ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
chauaraasee aasan le bhaat bhaat lapattaae |Wrapped in each other (they) performed eighty-four postures.
ਚਤੁਰ ਚਤੁਰਿਯਹਿ ਭਾਵਈ ਛਿਨਕ ਨ ਛੋਰਿਯੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
chatur chaturiyeh bhaavee chhinak na chhoriyo jaae |12|Priya liked Priya well and could not leave her alone. 12.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਭੇਦ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
taa kee triyaa bhed sun paayo |His (person's) wife discovered this secret
ਉਦੈ ਪੁਰੀ ਮੋ ਪਤਿਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
audai puree mo patihi bulaayo |That Uday Puri Begum has called my husband
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
bhaat bhaat taa sau rat karee |And has played with him in many ways.
ਮੋ ਤੇ ਜਾਤ ਬਾਤ ਨਹਿ ਜਰੀ ॥੧੩॥
mo te jaat baat neh jaree |13|This thing does not happen to me (now). 13.
ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾ ਪੈ ਅਬੈ ਪੁਕਾਰੌ ॥
saahijahaa pai abai pukaarau |(Thinks that I) call upon Shah Jahan now.
ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਤੁਮੈ ਖ੍ਵਾਰ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੌ ॥
chhin mai tumai khvaar kar ddaarau |Let me make you a manger.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਬੈਨ ਜਾਤ ਭੀ ਤਹਾ ॥
yau keh bain jaat bhee tahaa |Having said this, she went there
ਹਜਰਤਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਹਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਹਾ ॥੧੪॥
hajarat rang mahal meh jahaa |14|Where the king was sitting in Rang Mahal. 14.
ਉਦੈਪੁਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗ ਲ੍ਯਾਈ ॥
audaipuree tih sang layaaee |Uday Puri Begum came with her (Mitra).
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਨਾਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
tab lau naar pukaar sunaaee |Till then heard the cry of that woman.
ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾ ਤਬ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥
saahijahaa tab bachan uchaare |Then Shah Jahan said,
ਕਵਨ ਕਰਤ ਇਹ ਸੋਰ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੧੫॥
kavan karat ih sor duaare |15|Who is making this noise at the door? 15.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਉਦੈ ਪੁਰੀ ਤਬ ਯੌ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸਮੁਝਿ ਚਿਤ ਕੈ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
audai puree tab yau kahiyo samujh chit kai maeh |Uday Puri Begum thought in her mind and said thus,
ਸਤੀ ਭਯੋ ਚਾਹਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਹੋਨ ਦੇਤ ਇਹ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧੬॥
satee bhayo chaahat triyaa hon det ih naeh |16|This woman wants to be Sati, but this (man) does not allow her (to be Sati). 16.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਤਬ ਹਜਰਤਿ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
tab hajarat ih bhaat uchaaro |Then the king said thus,
ਯਾ ਕੌ ਮਨੈ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਰੋ ॥
yaa kau manai karo jin jaaro |Don't stop it, burn it.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਜਨ ਸੰਗ ਅਮਿਤ ਕਰਿ ਦਏ ॥
triy jan sang amit kar de |The Begum sent countless men with that woman
ਤਾ ਕਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਜਰਾਵਤ ਭਏ ॥੧੭॥
taa kah pakar jaraavat bhe |17|And they caught him and burned him. 17.
