ਨਾਥ ਬਾਗ ਜੋ ਮੈ ਲਗਵਾਯੋ ॥
naath baag jo mai lagavaayo |‘My Master, the garden, which I have fostered,
ਯਹ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਤੇ ਆਯੋ ॥
yah gulaab tih tthaa te aayo |‘These roses have come out ofthat.
ਸਕਲ ਸਖਿਨ ਜੁਤ ਤੁਮ ਪੈ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sakal sakhin jut tum pai ddaariyo |‘We, all the compatriots, have made the selection.’
ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਤ ਭਯੋ ਜੜ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
prafulat bhayo jarr kachh na bichaariyo |10|Listening to this, that fool was overjoyed.(l0)(1)

ਚਲਿਯੋ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ਸਾਹੁਰੇ ਉਡਿ ਜਾ ਕਹਤਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
chaliyo julaaho saahure udd jaa kahataa jaae |A weaver was walking to his in-laws and kept on shoUting, ‘flyaway’
ਬਧਿਕਨ ਕੁਸਗੁਨ ਜਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੧॥
badhikan kusagun jaan kai maariyo taeh banaae |1|A hunter considering this to be a bad omen beat him up.(1)

ਉਡਿ ਉਡਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਫਾਸਿਯਹੁ ਸੌ ਕਹਤਾ ਮਗੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
audd udd aavahu faasiyahu sau kahataa mag jaae |(The hunter told him) ‘You must say come flying and get entrapped.
ਜੋ ਐਸੋ ਬਚ ਪੁਨਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਨਿਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥੨॥
jo aaiso bach pun kahiyo hanihai tohi risaae |2|‘If you shout other way, I will get furious and kill you’.(2)

ਫਸਿ ਫਸਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਉਡਿ ਉਡਿ ਆਇ ॥
fas fas jaavahu udd udd aae |Fly fly come and get stuck
ਐਸੇ ਕਹਤ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
aaise kahat julaaho jaae |Then he started his journey saying, ‘Come flying and get entrapped.’
ਚੋਰਨ ਕੁਸਗੁਨ ਚਿਤ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
choran kusagun chit bichaariyo |The thieves (hearing this) mistook Kushgan in Chit
ਦੋ ਸੈ ਜੁਤੀ ਸੌ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੩॥
do sai jutee sau tih maariyo |3|This was heard by the thieves and they hit him with shoes two hundred times.(3 )

ਲੈ ਆਵਹੁ ਧਰਿ ਜਾਇਯਹੁ ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕਰੌ ਪਯਾਨ ॥
lai aavahu dhar jaaeiyahu yau keh karau payaan |‘Say, “Bring in here, leave and go away.”
ਜੋ ਉਹਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨਿਹੋ ਹਨਿਹੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਤਨ ਬਾਨ ॥੪॥
jo uhi bhaat bakhaaniho hanihai tuhi tan baan |4|“If you speak otherwise, we will kill you.”(4)
ਜਬ ਚੋਰਨ ਐਸੇ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਪਾਇ ॥
jab choran aaise kahiyo tab taa te ddar paae |When afraid of thieves he walked asserting,
ਲੈ ਆਵਹੁ ਧਰਿ ਜਾਇਯਹੁ ਯੌ ਮਗੁ ਕਹਤੌ ਜਾਇ ॥੫॥
lai aavahu dhar jaaeiyahu yau mag kahatau jaae |5|‘Bring it here, leave it and go away.’(5)
ਚਾਰ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਨੈ ਤਜਾ ਪਰਾਨ ॥
chaar putr paatisaah ke ik nai tajaa paraan |A Raja had four sons. One had just breathed his last,
ਦਾਬਨ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਲੈ ਚਲੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੋਕ ਮਨ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੬॥
daaban taa kau lai chale adhik sok man maan |6|And they were taking him for burial.(6)

ਤਬ ਲੌ ਕਹਤ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ਐਯਹੁ ॥
tab lau kahat julaaho aaiyahu |Till then the weaver came saying this
ਲੈ ਲੈ ਆਵਹੁ ਧਰ ਧਰ ਜੈਯਹੁ ॥
lai lai aavahu dhar dhar jaiyahu |They met the weaver who was saying, ‘Bring in and put it there.’
ਸੈਨਾ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਨ ਯਹ ਪਰੀ ॥
sainaa ke sravanan yah paree |(When this (word) came to the ears of (the king's) army,
ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਸੈ ਪਨਹੀ ਤਹ ਝਰੀ ॥੭॥
pandrah sai panahee tah jharee |7|When the Raja’s soldiers heard this, they gave him beating of fifteen hundred shoes,(7)
ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਹੋ ਸੁ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
tin so kahiyo kaho su uchaaro |(They) told him to say whatever (we) say.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬੁਰਾ ਭਯੋ ਕਹਤ ਪਧਾਰੋ ॥
kahiyo buraa bhayo kahat padhaaro |They instructed him to repeat, ‘What a bad thing has happened.’
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
bhed abhed kee baat na jaanee |He did not understand the difference.
ਜੋ ਤਿਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਵਹੈ ਜੜ ਮਾਨੀ ॥੮॥
jo tin kahiyo vahai jarr maanee |8|He (weaver) did not grasp why had they told him to say so.(8)
ਏਕ ਰਾਵ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
ek raav taa ke bahu naaree |A king had many wives,
ਪੂਤ ਨ ਹੋਤ ਤਾਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
poot na hot taeh dukh bhaaree |There was one Raja he had many wives but no son.
ਔਰ ਬ੍ਯਾਹਿ ਬ੍ਯਾਕੁਲ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
aauar bayaeh bayaakul hvai keeno |He became distraught and married again.
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਭਵਨ ਪੂਤ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੯॥
taa ke bhavan poot bidh deeno |9|He married another woman and God bestowed him with a son.(9)
ਸਭਹਿਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਚਿਤ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
sabhahin aanand chit badtaayo |Everyone was very happy.
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਕਹਤ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ਆਯੋ ॥
tab lau kahat julaaho aayo |Every body was very happy when the weaver passed by.
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਯੋ ਕਹਿ ਊਚ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
buraa bhayo keh aooch pukaariyo |And cried out in a loud voice saying 'Bura Hoya'.
ਸੁਨ੍ਯੋ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਨਹਿਨ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
sunayo jaeh panahin tin maariyo |10|‘What a bad thing has happened’, he said, and he was given beating by the Raja.(10)
ਪੁਰ ਜਨ ਬਾਚ ॥
pur jan baach |The townspeople said:
ਭਲਾ ਭਯੋ ਇਹ ਕਹਤ ਪਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhalaa bhayo ih kahat padhaariyo |When people hit with shoes
ਜਬ ਲੋਗਨ ਜੂਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
jab logan jootin so maariyo |After getting thrashing by every body he was told to say, ‘It is God’s blessing.’
ਜਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
jaat bhayo tih tthaa baddabhaagee |When the Blessed One reached that place,
ਜਹ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧੧॥
jah at agan nagar meh laagee |11|Then he reached a village, which was on fire.(11)
ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਮਹਲ ਜਹ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
gir gir parai mahal jah bhaare |Where big palaces were crumbling.
ਛਪਰਨ ਕੇ ਜਹ ਉਡੈ ਅਵਾਰੇ ॥
chhaparan ke jah uddai avaare |Huge palaces were even crumbling, and the roofs were flying away.
