ਮੰਡਿਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤ ਮੋ ਜੁਧਾ ॥
manddiyo beer khet mo judhaa |

War-heroes waged war in the battlefield.

ਉਪਜਿਯੋ ਸਮਰ ਸੂਰਮਨ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਾ ॥੪॥
aupajiyo samar sooraman krudhaa |4|

All the warriors were in great rage and the fight began in the battlefield.4.

ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਦੋਊ ਦਿਸ ਭਟ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
kop bhare doaoo dis bhatt bhaare |

The great warriors of both sides became enraged.

ਇਤੈ ਚੰਦੇਲ ਉਤੈ ਜਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
eitai chandel utai jasavaare |

The brave heroes of both the armies were in great anger, warriors of Chandel on this side and warriors of Jaswar on the other.

ਢੋਲ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਬਜੇ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
dtol nagaare baje apaaraa |

Lots of drums and bells.

ਭੀਮ ਰੂਪ ਭੈਰੋ ਭਭਕਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
bheem roop bhairo bhabhakaaraa |5|

Many drums and trumpets resounded, the terrible Bhairo (the god of war) shouted.5.

RASAAVAL STANZA

ਧੁਣੰ ਢੋਲ ਬਜੇ ॥
dhunan dtol baje |

Hearing the sound of drumming

ਮਹਾ ਸੂਰ ਗਜੇ ॥
mahaa soor gaje |

Listening to the resounding voice of the drums, the warriors thunder.

ਕਰੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਘਾਵੰ ॥
kare sasatr ghaavan |

By wounding with armor

ਚੜੇ ਚਿਤ ਚਾਵੰ ॥੬॥
charre chit chaavan |6|

They inflict wounds with weapons, their minds filled with great zest.6.

ਨ੍ਰਿਭੈ ਬਾਜ ਡਾਰੈ ॥
nribhai baaj ddaarai |

The horses are running fearlessly.

ਪਰਘੈ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
paraghai prahaare |

Fearlessly, they cause their horses to run and strike the blows of axes.

ਕਰੇ ਤੇਗ ਘਾਯੰ ॥
kare teg ghaayan |

They wound with swords

ਚੜੇ ਚਿਤ ਚਾਯੰ ॥੭॥
charre chit chaayan |7|

Many inflict wounds with their swords and the minds of all are very enthusiastic.7.

ਬਕੈ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥
bakai maar maaran |

(From the mouth) Maro-Maro calls out.

ਨ ਸੰਕਾ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥
n sankaa bichaaran |

From their mouths, they shout “kill, kill”, without any doubts.

ਰੁਲੈ ਤਛ ਮੁਛੰ ॥
rulai tachh muchhan |

(Several warriors) are rolling in slaughter

ਕਰੈ ਸੁਰਗ ਇਛੰ ॥੮॥
karai surag ichhan |8|

The chopped warriors are rolling in dust and wish to go to heaven.8.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

DOHRA

ਨੈਕ ਨ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਰਿ ਚਲੇ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਡਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਘਾਇ ॥
naik na ran te mur chale karai niddar hvai ghaae |

They do not retrace their steps from the battlefield and inflict wounds fearlessly.

ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਪਵੰਗ ਤੇ ਬਰੇ ਬਰੰਗਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੯॥
gir gir parai pavang te bare barangan jaae |9|

Those who fall from their horses, the heavenly damsels go to wed them.9.

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਹੋਤ ਭਯੋ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮਾ ॥
eih bidh hot bhayo sangraamaa |

This method was fought

ਜੂਝੇ ਚੰਦ ਨਰਾਇਨ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
joojhe chand naraaein naamaa |

In this way, the battle continued on both sides (with great vigour). Chandan Rai was killed.

ਤਬ ਜੁਝਾਰ ਏਕਲ ਹੀ ਧਯੋ ॥
tab jujhaar ekal hee dhayo |

Then the warrior (Singh) lay down alone,

ਬੀਰਨ ਘੇਰਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਿ ਲਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
beeran gher daso dis layo |10|

Then Jajhar Singh continued the fight quite alone. He was surrounded from all the sides.10.

DOHRA

ਧਸ੍ਰਯੋ ਕਟਕ ਮੈ ਝਟਕ ਦੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੰਕ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
dhasrayo kattak mai jhattak dai kachhoo na sank bichaar |

He rushed into the army of the enemy without any hesitation.

ਗਾਹਤ ਭਯੋ ਸੁਭਟਨ ਬਡਿ ਬਾਹਤਿ ਭਯੋ ਹਥਿਆਰ ॥੧੧॥
gaahat bhayo subhattan badd baahat bhayo hathiaar |11|

And killed many soldiers, wielding his weapons very skillfully.11.

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਘਨੇ ਘਰਨ ਕੋ ਗਾਰਾ ॥
eih bidh ghane gharan ko gaaraa |

Thus (he) destroyed many houses

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਕਰੇ ਹਥਿਯਾਰਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat ke kare hathiyaaraa |

In this way, he destroyed many homes, using various kinds of weapons.

ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਬੀਰ ਪਖਰੀਆ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
chun chun beer pakhareea maare |

Horse-mounted warriors were killed by choice

ਅੰਤਿ ਦੇਵਪੁਰਿ ਆਪ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੧੨॥
ant devapur aap padhaare |12|

He aimed and killed the brave horsemen, but at last he left for the heavenly abode himself.12.

ਸਹਜਾਦੇ ਕੋ ਆਗਮਨ ਮਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਸ ॥
sahajaade ko aagaman madr des |

The arrival of Shahzada (the prince) in Madra Desha (Punjab):

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਬਧ ਭਯੋ ਜੁਝਾਰਾ ॥
eih bidh so badh bhayo jujhaaraa |

In this way when Jujhar Singh was killed

ਆਨ ਬਸੇ ਤਬ ਧਾਮਿ ਲੁਝਾਰਾ ॥
aan base tab dhaam lujhaaraa |

In this way, when Jujhar Singh was killed, the soldiers returned their homes.

ਤਬ ਅਉਰੰਗ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਰਿਸਾਵਾ ॥
tab aaurang man maeh risaavaa |

Then Aurangzeb became furious in his heart.

ਮਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਸ ਕੋ ਪੂਤ ਪਠਾਵਾ ॥੧॥
madr des ko poot patthaavaa |1|

Then Aurangzeb became very angry and sent his son to Madr Desha (Punjab).1.

ਤਿਹ ਆਵਤ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਡਰਾਨੇ ॥
tih aavat sabh lok ddaraane |

All the people were frightened by his arrival.

ਬਡੇ ਬਡੇ ਗਿਰਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਲੁਕਾਨੇ ॥
badde badde gir her lukaane |

On his arrival, all were frightened and hid themselves in big hills.

ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਲੋਗਨ ਅਧਿਕ ਡਰਾਯੋ ॥
ham hoon logan adhik ddaraayo |

People scared us too,

ਕਾਲ ਕਰਮ ਕੋ ਮਰਮ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੨॥
kaal karam ko maram na paayo |2|

The people tried to frighten me also, because they did not understand the ways of Almighty.2.

ਕਿਤਕ ਲੋਕ ਤਜਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥
kitak lok taj sang sidhaare |

How many people left (us) and left

ਜਾਇ ਬਸੇ ਗਿਰਿਵਰ ਜਹ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
jaae base girivar jah bhaare |

Some people left us and took refuge in the big hills.

ਚਿਤ ਮੂਜੀਯਨ ਕੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਡਰਾਨਾ ॥
chit moojeeyan ko adhik ddaraanaa |

The mind of (those) cowards became very frightened.

ਤਿਨੈ ਉਬਾਰ ਨ ਅਪਨਾ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
tinai ubaar na apanaa jaanaa |3|

The cowards were so much frightened that they did not consider their safety with me.3.

ਤਬ ਅਉਰੰਗ ਜੀਅ ਮਾਝ ਰਿਸਾਏ ॥
tab aaurang jeea maajh risaae |

Then Aurangzeb became very angry in (his) mind

ਏਕ ਅਹਦੀਆ ਈਹਾ ਪਠਾਏ ॥
ek ahadeea eehaa patthaae |

The son of Aurangzeb grew very angry and sent a subordinate in this direction.

ਹਮ ਤੇ ਭਾਜਿ ਬਿਮੁਖ ਜੇ ਗਏ ॥
ham te bhaaj bimukh je ge |

Who had fled from us without face,

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਗਿਰਾਵਤ ਭਏ ॥੪॥
tin ke dhaam giraavat bhe |4|

Those who had left me in distrust, their homes were demolished by him.4.

ਜੇ ਆਪਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਫਿਰ ਹੈ ॥
je aapane gur te mukh fir hai |

Those who turn away from their Guru,

ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
eehaa aoohaa tin ke grihi gir hai |

Those who turn away their faces from the Guru, their houses are demolished in this and the next world.

ਇਹਾ ਉਪਹਾਸ ਨ ਸੁਰਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
eihaa upahaas na surapur baasaa |

Here (they) are disgraced and do not find abode in heaven.

ਸਭ ਬਾਤਨ ਤੇ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੫॥
sabh baatan te rahe niraasaa |5|

They are ridiculed here and also do not get and abode in heaven. They also remain disappointed in all things.5.

ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਰਹੈ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
dookh bhookh tin ko rahai laagee |

Suffering and hunger are (ever) on them

ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਹੈ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
sant sev te jo hai tiaagee |

They are always inflicted by hunger and sorrow, those, who have forsaken the service of the saints.

ਜਗਤ ਬਿਖੈ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਮ ਨ ਸਰਹੀ ॥
jagat bikhai koee kaam na sarahee |

(They) have no work in the world.

ਅੰਤਹਿ ਕੁੰਡ ਨਰਕ ਕੀ ਪਰਹੀ ॥੬॥
anteh kundd narak kee parahee |6|

None of their wish is fulfilled in the world and in the end, they abide in the fire of the abyss of hell.6.

ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਸਦਾ ਜਗਤਿ ਉਪਹਾਸਾ ॥
tin ko sadaa jagat upahaasaa |

Their world always laughs

ਅੰਤਹਿ ਕੁੰਡ ਨਰਕ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
anteh kundd narak kee baasaa |

They are always ridiculed in the world and in the end, they abide in the fire of the abyss of hell.

ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥
gur pag te je bemukh sidhaare |

Those who are bereft of the Guru-feet,

ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਕਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
eehaa aoohaa tin ke mukh kaare |7|

Those, who turn away their face from the feet of the Guru, their faces are blackened in this and the next world.7.

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਪਉਤ੍ਰ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਨਹੀ ਫਰੈ ॥
putr pautr tin ke nahee farai |

Even their sons and grandsons do not bear fruit

ਦੁਖ ਦੈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋ ਮਰੈ ॥
dukh dai maat pitaa ko marai |

Their sons and grandsons do not prosper and they die, creating great agony for their parents.

ਗੁਰ ਦੋਖੀ ਸਗ ਕੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
gur dokhee sag kee mrit paavai |

Guru's double dog will die.

ਨਰਕ ਕੁੰਡ ਡਾਰੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
narak kundd ddaare pachhutaavai |8|

The one, who hath malice of the Guru in his heart, dies the death of ad dog. He repents, when he is thrown in the abyss of hell.8.

ਬਾਬੇ ਕੇ ਬਾਬਰ ਕੇ ਦੋਊ ॥
baabe ke baabar ke doaoo |

To both the (successors) of Baba (Guru Nanak Dev) and the (successors) of Babur (King)

ਆਪ ਕਰੈ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸੋਊ ॥
aap karai paramesar soaoo |

The successors of both, Baba (Nanak) and Badur were created by God Himself.
