ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਦਿਸਿ ਦਸੌ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥
maar maar dis dasau pukaarai |(They) used to shout 'Maro Maro' from ten directions.
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਅਮਿਤ ਅਸੁਰ ਤਨ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
tin te amit asur tan dhaarai |From their (voice or breath) innumerable giants were assuming bodies.
ਬਾਰ ਚਲਤ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਦੌਰੈ ॥
baar chalat tin te je dauarai |The wind that blew with their running,
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਤ ਅਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੌਰੈ ॥੬੦॥
tin te hot asur pragattauarai |60|Giants were appearing even from him. 60.
ਲਗੇ ਘਾਇ ਜੇ ਸ੍ਰੋਨ ਬਮਾਹੀ ॥
lage ghaae je sron bamaahee |The blood that flowed from the wound,
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਗਜ ਬਾਜੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
tih te gaj baajee hvai jaahee |Elephants and horses were being made from it.
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਚਲਿਤ ਅਮਿਤ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਵਾਸਾ ॥
tih te chalit amit jo svaasaa |Their countless breaths moved,
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਅਸੁਰ ਕਰਤ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥੬੧॥
tin te asur karat paragaasaa |61|Giants were appearing from them. 61.
ਅਨਗਨ ਕਾਲ ਅਸੁਰ ਤਬ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
anagan kaal asur tab maare |Then famine killed innumerable giants.
ਪਰੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰ ਮਨਹੁ ਮੁਨਾਰੇ ॥
pare bhoom par manahu munaare |They were lying on the ground like towers.
ਮੇਧਾ ਤੇ ਗਜ ਬਾਜ ਉਠਾਹੀ ॥
medhaa te gaj baaj utthaahee |Elephants were getting up from Mizh (turning into horses).
ਸ੍ਰੋਨਤ ਕੇ ਦਾਨਵ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੬੨॥
sronat ke daanav hvai jaahee |62|And they were becoming giants of blood. 62.
ਬਾਨਨ ਕੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਉਠਿ ਕਰਹੀ ॥
baanan kee barakhaa utth karahee |(The giants) used to get up and shoot arrows.
ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਉਚਰਹੀ ॥
maar maar kar kop ucharahee |In anger, they used to say 'Kill, kill'.
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਅਸੁਰਨ ਕਿਯਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
tin te asuran kiyaa pasaaraa |The giants spread further from them
ਦਸੇ ਦਿਸਨ ਹੂੰ ਕਹ ਭਰਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੬੩॥
dase disan hoon kah bhar ddaaraa |63|And filled the ten directions. 63.
ਵਹੈ ਕਾਲਕਾ ਅਸੁਰ ਖਪਾਏ ॥
vahai kaalakaa asur khapaae |Those giants were eaten by Kalka
ਮਾਰਿ ਦੁਬਹਿਯਾ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
maar dubahiyaa dhoor milaae |And with both arms he smote the armourers (warriors) and reduced them to dust.
ਪੁਨਿ ਪੁਨਿ ਉਠੈ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੈ ਬਾਨਾ ॥
pun pun utthai prahaarai baanaa |(He) used to get up again and again and shoot arrows
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਧਰਤ ਅਸੁਰ ਤਨ ਨਾਨਾ ॥੬੪॥
tin te dharat asur tan naanaa |64|And from them, various types of giants were taking on bodies. 64.
ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਦਾਨਵ ਜੇ ਭਏ ॥
ttook ttook daanav je bhe |The giants that were broken into pieces,
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਅਸੁਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਏ ॥
tin te anik asur hvai ge |Many more giants were born from them.
ਤਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਦਾਨਵ ਬਹੁ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ॥
taahee te daanav bahu hvai kar |Many giants were born from them
ਜੁਧ ਕਰੈ ਆਯੁਧ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ॥੬੫॥
judh karai aayudh te lai kar |65|And they were fighting with weapons. 65.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਕਾਲ ਵੈ ਦੈਤ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
bahur kaal vai dait sanghaare |Call then killed those giants
ਤਿਲ ਤਿਲ ਪਾਇ ਟੂਕ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
til til paae ttook kar ddaare |(And they) cut them to pieces.
ਜੇਤਿਕ ਗਿਰੈ ਭੂਮਿ ਟੁਕ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥
jetik girai bhoom ttuk hvai kai |As many as fell on the ground broken,
ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਠੈ ਆਯੁਧਨ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥੬੬॥
tit hee utthai aayudhan lai kai |66|As many (others) used to stand up with weapons. 66.
ਤਿਲ ਤਿਲ ਕਰਿ ਭਟ ਜਿਤਕ ਉਡਾਏ ॥
til til kar bhatt jitak uddaae |As many warriors as they had blown away (ie killed)
ਤੇਤਕ ਤਹਾ ਅਸੁਰ ਬਨ ਆਏ ॥
tetak tahaa asur ban aae |As many came there as giants.
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਜੇ ਕੀਏ ॥
tin ke ttook ttook je kee |What they had broken,
ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨਵ ਭਵ ਲੀਏ ॥੬੭॥
tin te bahu daanav bhav lee |67|Many giants were born from them. 67.
ਕੇਤਿਕ ਤਹਾ ਸੁਭੈ ਦੰਤੀ ਰਨ ॥
ketik tahaa subhai dantee ran |How many elephants were adorning the plains there
ਸੀਚਹਿ ਸੁੰਡ ਬਾਰਿ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤਨ ॥
seecheh sundd baar te sabh tan |And they watered everyone by throwing water from trunks.
ਦਾਤ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਤਜੈ ਚਿੰਘਾਰਾ ॥
daat dikhaae tajai chinghaaraa |(They) bared their teeth and howled,
ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਅਸਵਾਰਾ ॥੬੮॥
gir gir parai nirakh asavaaraa |68|Seeing (them), the riders used to tremble. 68.
ਕਹੂੰ ਭੇਰ ਭੀਖਨ ਭਭਕਾਰਹਿ ॥
kahoon bher bheekhan bhabhakaareh |There were terrible roars somewhere.
ਕਹੂੰ ਬੀਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਰਨ ਡਾਰਹਿ ॥
kahoon beer baajee ran ddaareh |Sometimes the horses used to knock down the warriors in the battlefield.
ਕਿਤਕ ਸੂਰ ਸੈਹਥੀ ਫਿਰਾਵਤ ॥
kitak soor saihathee firaavat |How many warriors used to swing saithis (spears).
ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਧਾਵਤ ॥੬੯॥
mahaa kaal ke sanamukh dhaavat |69|And in the great period they used to fall from Sahmani. 69.
ਕੇਤਿਕ ਬਜ੍ਰ ਬਰਛਿਯਨ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
ketik bajr barachhiyan lai kai |How many giants with thunderbolts and spears
ਧਾਵਤ ਅਸੁਰ ਕੋਪ ਤਨ ਤੈ ਕੈ ॥
dhaavat asur kop tan tai kai |They used to attack with anger.
ਕੋਪਿ ਕਾਲ ਪਰ ਕਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥
kop kaal par karat prahaaraa |They used to attack Kal in anger.
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਸਲਭ ਦੀਪ ਅਨੁਹਾਰਾ ॥੭੦॥
jaanuk salabh deep anuhaaraa |70|(It looked like) as if they were like (rotting) moths on a lamp. 70.
ਭਰੇ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਬਡੇ ਗਰਬੀਲੇ ॥
bhare gumaan badde garabeele |They were very arrogant, full of pride
ਧਾਵਤ ਚੌਪਿ ਚੜੇ ਚਟਕੀਲੇ ॥
dhaavat chauap charre chattakeele |And excitedly they went with great speed.
ਪੀਸਿ ਪੀਸਿ ਰਦਨਛਦ ਦੋਊ ॥
pees pees radanachhad doaoo |Grind both the lips with the teeth
ਧਾਵਤ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਪਰ ਸੋਊ ॥੭੧॥
dhaavat mahaa kaal par soaoo |71|They were attacking Maha Kal. 71.
ਬਾਜਹਿ ਢੋਲਿ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਨਗਾਰਾ ॥
baajeh dtol mridang nagaaraa |Drums, mridangas and nagares were playing
ਭੀਖਨ ਕਰਤ ਭੇਰ ਭਭਕਾਰਾ ॥
bheekhan karat bher bhabhakaaraa |And the beasts were making terrible noises.
ਜੰਗ ਮੁਚੰਗ ਉਪੰਗ ਬਜੇ ਰਨ ॥
jang muchang upang baje ran |War in the battlefield, Muchang, Upang,
ਝਾਲਰਿ ਤਾਲ ਨਫੀਰਨ ਕੇ ਗਨ ॥੭੨॥
jhaalar taal nafeeran ke gan |72|Jhalar, tal and groups of nafiris were playing. 72.
ਮੁਰਲੀ ਮੁਰਜ ਕਹੀ ਰਨ ਬਾਜਤ ॥
muralee muraj kahee ran baajat |Somewhere in the plains, murlis, muraj etc. were playing.
ਦਾਨਵ ਭਰੇ ਗੁਮਾਨਹਿ ਗਾਜਤ ॥
daanav bhare gumaaneh gaajat |The giants roared suspiciously.
ਢੋਲਨ ਪਰ ਦੈ ਦੈ ਢਮਕਾਰੇ ॥
dtolan par dai dai dtamakaare |By beating the drums
ਗਹਿ ਗਹਿ ਧਵਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਕਟਾਰੇ ॥੭੩॥
geh geh dhavat kripaan kattaare |73|And they used to run away holding swords and spears. 73.
ਦੀਰਘ ਦਾਤ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਈ ਕੋਸਾ ॥
deeragh daat kaadt kee kosaa |With teeth as long as many teeth
ਧਾਵਤ ਅਸੁਰ ਹੀਏ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਸਾ ॥
dhaavat asur hee kar josaa |And the giants were rushing with excitement in their hearts.
ਮਾਰਨ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਕਹ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
maaran mahaa kaal kah dhaavai |(They) used to rush to kill Maha Kala.
ਮਨੋ ਮਾਰਤ ਵੇਈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੭੪॥
mano maarat veee mar jaavai |74|(It seemed like) as if they were killing themselves. 74.
ਦਾਨਵ ਮਹਾ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
daanav mahaa kop kar dtooke |The giants were very angry and came
ਮਾਰਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਿ ਕੂਕੇ ॥
maareh maar daso dis kooke |And in ten directions 'Maro Maro' started to be heard.
ਦੈ ਦੈ ਢੋਲਿ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥
dai dai dtol mridang nagaare |Drums, Mridangas and Nagare Dai Dai
ਕਾਢਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਅਰਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਡਰਾਰੇ ॥੭੫॥
kaadt kaadt ar daat ddaraare |75|And the enemy used to frighten them by pulling out their teeth. 75.
ਚਾਹਤ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਕਹ ਮਾਰੋ ॥
chaahat mahaa kaal kah maaro |They wanted to kill the Great Era,
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਹਿ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥
mahaa purakh neh karat bichaaro |But they did not think very foolishly
ਜਿਨ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਕਾ ਕਰਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
jin sabh jag kaa karaa pasaaraa |That which has expanded the whole world,
ਤਾਹਿ ਚਹਤ ਤੇ ਮੂੜ ਸੰਘਾਰਾ ॥੭੬॥
taeh chahat te moorr sanghaaraa |76|Those fools wanted to kill him.76.
ਠੋਕਿ ਠੋਕਿ ਭੁਜ ਦੰਡਨ ਜੋਧਾ ॥
tthok tthok bhuj danddan jodhaa |The warriors beat their sides and became angry
ਧਾਵਤ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲ ਪਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਾ ॥
dhaavat mahaa kaal par krodhaa |Attacked Maha Kal.
ਬੀਸ ਪਦੁਮ ਦਾਨਵ ਤਵ ਭਯੋ ॥
bees padum daanav tav bhayo |An army of twenty Padma giants gathered there
ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਧਯੋ ॥੭੭॥
naas karan kaalee ko dhayo |77|And rose to destroy Kali.77.
