ਚਿਤੰ ਤਾਸ ਚੀਨੋ ਸਹੀ ਦਿਰਬ ਪਾਲੰ ॥
chitan taas cheeno sahee dirab paalan |Think of him as the true Kuber in Chit
ਉਠੈ ਜਉਨ ਕੇ ਰੂਪ ਕੀ ਜ੍ਵਾਲ ਮਾਲੰ ॥੬੭॥
autthai jaun ke roop kee jvaal maalan |67|O princess! see that king, the master of riches, from whose body the fires of beauty are arising.”67.
ਸਭੈ ਭੂਪ ਠਾਢੇ ਜਹਾ ਰਾਜ ਕੰਨਿਆ ॥
sabhai bhoop tthaadte jahaa raaj kaniaa |Where all the kings were standing, there Raj Kumari (went)
ਬਿਖੈ ਭੂ ਤਲੰ ਰੂਪ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਨ ਅੰਨਿਆ ॥
bikhai bhoo talan roop jaa ke na aniaa |Where there was the princess, all the kings were standing there
ਬਡੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਬਡੇ ਗਰਬ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
badde chhatradhaaree badde garab keene |Big big umbrellas, very arrogant,
ਤਹਾ ਆਨਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਬਡੀ ਸੈਨ ਲੀਨੇ ॥੬੮॥
tahaa aan tthaadte baddee sain leene |68|There was none other so beautiful on the earth many egoistic canopied kings, taking their armies with them, came and stood there.68.
ਨਦੀ ਸੰਗ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਬੈ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
nadee sang jaa ke sabai roop dhaare |Assuming (human form) with whom the rivers have come.
ਸਬੈ ਸਿੰਧ ਸੰਗੰ ਚੜੇ ਤੇਜ ਵਾਰੇ ॥
sabai sindh sangan charre tej vaare |“He, form whom the streams adopt the glory of their comeliness and from whom the oceans also spring up, not enduring His brilliance
ਬਡੀ ਕਾਇ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਾ ਰੂਪ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
baddee kaae jaa kee mahaa roop sohai |Who has a large body and is adorned with a great form.
ਲਖੇ ਦੇਵ ਕੰਨਿਆਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੬੯॥
lakhe dev kaniaan ke maan mohai |69|He, whose body is very big and whose beauty is magnificent and seeing whom, the heavenly maidens get allured.69.
ਕਹੋ ਨਾਰ ਤੋ ਕੌ ਇਹੈ ਬਰੁਨ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
kaho naar to kau ihai barun raajaa |O Raj Kumari! I tell you, this Varuna is the king.
ਜਿਸੈ ਪੇਖਿ ਰਾਜਾਨ ਕੋ ਮਾਨ ਭਾਜਾ ॥
jisai pekh raajaan ko maan bhaajaa |“O princess! All those different kings have come here seeing whom the pride of the kings is shattered
ਕਹਾ ਲੌ ਬਖਾਨੋ ਜਿਤੇ ਭੂਪ ਆਏ ॥
kahaa lau bakhaano jite bhoop aae |Let me describe how many kings have come.
ਸਬੈ ਬਾਲ ਕੌ ਲੈ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੭੦॥
sabai baal kau lai bhavaanee bataae |70|To what extent should I describe those kings who have come here?” That goddess showed the princess all those kings.70.

ਆਨਿ ਜੁਰੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮੰਡਲ ਜੇਤਿ ਤੇਤ ਸਬੈ ਤਿਨ ਤਾਸ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
aan jure nrip manddal jet tet sabai tin taas dikhaae |All those kings who had come there, they were all shown to the princess
ਦੇਖ ਫਿਰੀ ਚਹੂੰ ਚਕ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰਿ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਨਹੀ ਲਿਆਏ ॥
dekh firee chahoon chakran ko nrip raaj kumaar hridai nahee liaae |She saw the kings in all the four directions, but did not like anyone
ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਭਟ ਮੰਡਲ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਦਸਾ ਮੁਰਝਾਏ ॥
haar pario sabh hee bhatt manddal bhoopat her dasaa murajhaae |The whole sphere of heroes was defeated and seeing such a situation, the kings also became dejected
ਫੂਕ ਭਏ ਮੁਖ ਸੂਕ ਗਏ ਸਬ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ॥੭੧॥
fook bhe mukh sook ge sab raaj kumaar fire ghar aae |71|The faces of all of them shrank and all the princes returned to their homes.71.
ਤਉ ਲਗਿ ਆਨ ਗਏ ਅਜਿਰਾਜ ਸੁ ਰਾਜਨ ਰਾਜ ਬਡੋ ਦਲ ਲੀਨੇ ॥
tau lag aan ge ajiraaj su raajan raaj baddo dal leene |So much so that Ajaraj, the king of kings, came there with (his) large army.
ਅੰਬਰ ਅਨੂਪ ਧਰੇ ਪਸਮੰਬਰ ਸੰਬਰ ਕੇ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਛਬਿ ਛੀਨੇ ॥
anbar anoop dhare pasamanbar sanbar ke ar kee chhab chheene |At that time, the king Aj, taking alongwith him him his big army, reached there, his unique silken garments were making the god of love feel shy
ਬੇਖਨ ਬੇਖ ਚੜੇ ਸੰਗ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹਾਨ ਸਬੈ ਸੁਖ ਧਾਮ ਨਵੀਨੇ ॥
bekhan bekh charre sang hvai nrip haan sabai sukh dhaam naveene |There were also many well-dressed other kings affording pleasure
ਆਨਿ ਗਏ ਜਰਿਕੰਬਰ ਸੇ ਅੰਬਰ ਸੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੰਬਰ ਕੀਨੇ ॥੭੨॥
aan ge jarikanbar se anbar se nrip kanbar keene |72|The king Aj, wearing handsome garments reached there.72.
ਪਾਤਿ ਹੀ ਪਾਤਿ ਬਨਾਇ ਬਡੋ ਦਲ ਢੋਲ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਬਜਾਇ ॥
paat hee paat banaae baddo dal dtol mridang surang bajaae |His army made queues and his forces began to play on the small and big durms
ਭੂਖਨ ਚਾਰੁ ਦਿਪੈ ਸਬ ਅੰਗ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਅਨੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਮੁਰਛਾਏ ॥
bhookhan chaar dipai sab ang bilok anang prabhaa murachhaae |On the bodies of al, the handsome ornaments were shining and the god of love also seeting their comeliness, was becoming unconscious
ਬਾਜਤ ਚੰਗ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਉਪੰਗ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਸੁ ਨਾਦ ਸਬੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
baajat chang mridang upang surang su naad sabai sun paae |Chang, mridanga and upang etc. were playing, everyone was listening to that beautiful sound.
ਰੀਝ ਰਹੇ ਰਿਝਵਾਰ ਸਬੈ ਲਖਿ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਸਰਾਹਤ ਆਏ ॥੭੩॥
reejh rahe rijhavaar sabai lakh roop anoop saraahat aae |73|All were listening to the sounds of the musical instruments and all seeing their unique beauty, were getting pleased.73.
ਜੈਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਲਖਿਓ ਅਜਿ ਕੋ ਹਮ ਤੈਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਨ ਅਉਰ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥
jais saroop lakhio aj ko ham tais saroop na aaur bichaare |The beauty of king Aj that we saw, had not seen the same beauty of anyone else before
ਚੰਦਿ ਚਪਿਓ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਕੀ ਛਬਿ ਛੇਦ ਪਰੇ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਰਿਸ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
chand chapio lakh kai mukh kee chhab chhed pare ur mai ris maare |The moon seeing his comeliness, hid himself and his heart burnt with jealousy
ਤੇਜ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਕੈ ਪਾਵਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਚਿਰੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅਉਰਨ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
tej saroop bilok kai paavak chit chiree grih aauran jaare |The fire seeing his elegance, was irritated and he abandoned his burning activity
ਜੈਸ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਲਖਿਓ ਅਜਿ ਕੋ ਹਮ ਤੈਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਨ ਭੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੭੪॥
jais prabhaa lakhio aj ko ham tais saroop na bhoop nihaare |74|The kind of beauty that the king Aj has, the same beauty we have never seen before.74.
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਜੁਆਨ ਸਰੂਪ ਮਹਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਚਹੁੰ ਚਕ ਮੈ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿਓ ॥
sundar juaan saroop mahaan pradhaan chahun chak mai ham jaanio |He was winsome youth and had a shapely figure, which was considered foremost in all the four directions
ਭਾਨੁ ਸਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਕਿ ਰਾਵ ਕਿ ਰਾਨ ਮਹਾਨ ਬਖਾਨਿਓ ॥
bhaan samaan prabhaa na pramaan ki raav ki raan mahaan bakhaanio |He was radiant like the sun and was a great sovereign amongst kings
ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਚਕੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਚੰਦ ਸਰੂਪ ਨਿਸਾ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਓ ॥
dev adev chake apane chit chand saroop nisaa pahichaanio |The gods and others were all wonder-struck to see him and the night considered him as moon
ਦਿਉਸ ਕੈ ਭਾਨੁ ਮੁਨਿਓ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਪਛਾਨ ਮਨੈ ਘਨ ਮੋਰਨ ਮਾਨਿਓ ॥੭੫॥
diaus kai bhaan munio bhagavaan pachhaan manai ghan moran maanio |75|The day imagined him as the sun and the peacocks thought of him as the cloud.75.
ਬੋਲਿ ਉਠੇ ਪਿਕ ਜਾਨ ਬਸੰਤ ਚਕੋਰਨ ਚੰਦ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਖਾਨਿਓ ॥
bol utthe pik jaan basant chakoran chand saroop bakhaanio |The rain-birds raised their voice considering him as spring and the partridges thought of his as moon
ਸਾਤਿ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਲਖਿਓ ਸਭ ਸਾਧਨ ਜੋਧਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਤਛ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨਿਓ ॥
saat subhaav lakhio sabh saadhan jodhan krodh pratachh pramaanio |The saints thought of him as peace and the warriors apparently as anger
ਬਾਲਨ ਬਾਲ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਲਖਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕਾਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਪਛਾਨਿਓ ॥
baalan baal subhaav lakhio tih satran kaal saroop pachhaanio |The children considered him as a good-natured child and the enemies as KAL (death)
ਦੇਵਲ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵਨ ਕੈ ਸਿਵ ਰਾਜਨ ਰਾਜਿ ਬਡੋ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨਿਓ ॥੭੬॥
deval dev adevan kai siv raajan raaj baddo jeea jaanio |76|The gods thought of him as god, the ghosts and fiends as Shiva and the kings as the Sovereign.76.
ਸਾਧਨ ਸਿਧ ਸਰੂਪ ਲਖਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਨ ਬਸੇਖਿਓ ॥
saadhan sidh saroop lakhio tih satran satr samaan basekhio |The saints saw him as a Siddha (adept) and the enemies as enemy
ਚੋਰਨ ਭੋਰ ਕਰੋਰਨ ਮੋਰਨ ਤਾਸੁ ਸਹੀ ਘਨ ਕੈ ਅਵਿਰੇਖਿਓ ॥
choran bhor karoran moran taas sahee ghan kai avirekhio |The thieves saw him s early morn and the peacocks as cloud
ਕਾਮ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਭੈ ਪੁਰ ਨਾਰਨ ਸੰਭੂ ਸਮਾਨ ਸਬੂ ਗਨ ਦੇਖਿਓ ॥
kaam saroop sabhai pur naaran sanbhoo samaan saboo gan dekhio |All the women considered him as god of love and all the ganas as Shiva
ਸੀਪ ਸ੍ਵਾਤਿ ਕੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਜਨ ਰਾਜ ਬਡੋ ਤਿਹ ਪੇਖਿਓ ॥੭੭॥
seep svaat kee boond tisai kar raajan raaj baddo tih pekhio |77|The shell saw him as the rain-drop and the kings as the Sovereing.77.
ਕੰਬਰ ਜਿਉ ਜਰਿਕੰਬਰ ਕੀ ਢਿਗ ਤਿਉ ਅਵਿਨੰਬਰ ਤੀਰ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
kanbar jiau jarikanbar kee dtig tiau avinanbar teer suhaae |The king Aj looked splendid on the earth just as the clouds in the sky
ਨਾਕ ਲਖੇ ਰਿਸ ਮਾਨ ਸੂਆ ਮਨ ਨੈਨ ਦੋਊ ਲਖਿ ਏਣ ਲਜਾਏ ॥
naak lakhe ris maan sooaa man nain doaoo lakh en lajaae |Seeing his comely nose, the parrot got jealous and seeing both of his eyes, the wagtail felt shy
ਪੇਖਿ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਸਰਾਬ ਪੀਐ ਜਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਅੰਗ ਅਨੰਗ ਰਿਸਾਏ ॥
pekh gulaab saraab peeai jan pekhat ang anang risaae |Seeing his limbs, the rose got dead-drunks and the god of love got angry seeing his handsome neck
ਕੰਠ ਕਪੋਤ ਕਟੂ ਪਰ ਕੇਹਰ ਰੋਸ ਰਸੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਏ ॥੭੮॥
kantth kapot kattoo par kehar ros rase grih bhool na aae |78|And the lions seeing his waist forgot themselves and were not able to reach their homes.78.
ਪੇਖਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਿਰਾਤ ਨ ਲੋਚਨ ਘੂਟਤ ਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਘੂਟ ਅਮੀ ਕੇ ॥
pekh saroop siraat na lochan ghoottat hai jan ghoott amee ke |Seeing his lake-like eyes, it seemed that they became intoxicated after drinking a draught of ambrosia
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਤਾਲ ਬਤਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਜਨੋ ਆਛਰ ਹੀ ਕੇ ॥
gaavat geet bajaavat taal bataavat hai jano aachhar hee ke |The songs were being sung and the musical instruments were being played
ਭਾਵਤ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਤ ਗਾਰ ਦਿਵਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਭਰਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਜੀ ਕੇ ॥
bhaavat naar suhaavat gaar divaavat hai bhar aanand jee ke |Women look good and swear with joy in their hearts.
ਤੂ ਸੁ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਚੀ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕਹੈ ਅਬਿਚਾਰ ਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਬਰ ਨੀਕੇ ॥੭੯॥
too su kumaar rachee karataar kahai abichaar treea bar neeke |79|The women in their pleasure were singing abusive songs and saying, “O prince! the Lord has created this princess for you, you may wed her.”79.
ਦੇਖਤ ਰੂਪ ਸਿਰਾਤ ਨ ਲੋਚਨ ਪੇਖਿ ਛਕੀ ਪੀਅ ਕੀ ਛਬਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
dekhat roop siraat na lochan pekh chhakee peea kee chhab naaree |Seeing the form, the eyes are not reddened, the women have become mesmerized by seeing the image of Priya (now King).
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਢੋਲ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਮੁਚੰਗਨ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
gaavat geet bajaavat dtol mridang muchangan kee dhun bhaaree |Seeing the glory of his eyes, the women were absorbed in love and were singing songs while playing on the drums
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਜਿਤੀ ਪੁਰ ਨਾਗਰ ਗਾਗਰਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਲਖੈ ਦੁਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
aavat jaat jitee pur naagar gaagar ddaar lakhai dut bhaaree |All the women who were coming from outside the town, seeing he beauty of the king, they threw away their gowns and were only looking at his charming face
ਰਾਜ ਕਰੋ ਤਬ ਲੌ ਜਬ ਲੌ ਮਹਿ ਜਉ ਲਗ ਗੰਗ ਬਹੈ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਰੀ ॥੮੦॥
raaj karo tab lau jab lau meh jau lag gang bahai jamunaa ree |80|Seeing the king they all desired, “O king! let it be the God’s will that you may rule as long as th
ਜਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਅਜਿ ਰਾਜ ਕੀ ਰਾਜਤ ਸੋ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਕਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਗਨਾਊ ॥
jaun prabhaa aj raaj kee raajat so keh kai kih bhaat ganaaoo |While describing the glory of king Aj. I accept that whatever similes the poets generally give,
ਜਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕਬਿ ਦੇਤ ਸਬੈ ਜੌ ਪੈ ਤਾਸ ਕਹੋ ਜੀਅ ਬੀਚ ਲਜਾਊ ॥
jaun prabhaa kab det sabai jau pai taas kaho jeea beech lajaaoo |They are all discourteous and I feel shy while uttering them
ਹਉ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਛਬਿ ਅੰਗਨ ਕੀਨ ਕਹੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਊ ॥
hau chahoon or firio basudhaa chhab angan keen kahoon koee paaoo |I have searched on all the earth in order to find someone so beautiful as you, but I was not successful
ਲੇਖਨ ਊਖ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਤ ਲਿਖੋ ਛਬਿ ਆਨਨ ਤੇ ਕਿਮਿ ਭਾਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਊ ॥੮੧॥
lekhan aookh hvai jaat likho chhab aanan te kim bhaakh sunaaoo |81|Writing about your beauty, my pen is pulled down and how should I describe it from my mouth ? 81.
ਨੈਨਨ ਬਾਨ ਚਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਮਾਰਤ ਘਾਇਲ ਕੈ ਪੁਰ ਬਾਸਨ ਡਾਰੀ ॥
nainan baan chahoon dis maarat ghaaeil kai pur baasan ddaaree |The king with the arrows of his eyes, wounded all the townfolk
ਸਾਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕਹਿ ਰੂਪ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਹੈ ਮਤਿ ਕਉਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
saarasvatee na sakai keh roop singaar kahai mat kaun bichaaree |Even Saravati is uncable to describe the charm of his beauty
ਕੋਕਿਲ ਕੰਠਿ ਹਰਿਓ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਨਾਇਕ ਛੀਨ ਕਪੋਤ ਕੀ ਗ੍ਰੀਵ ਅਨਿਆਰੀ ॥
kokil kantth hario nrip naaeik chheen kapot kee greev aniaaree |The throat of the king is sweet like the nightingale and the neck like the pigeon
ਰੀਝ ਗਿਰੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਧਰਾ ਪਰ ਘੂਮਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਘਾਇਲ ਭਾਰੀ ॥੮੨॥
reejh gire nar naar dharaa par ghoomat hai jan ghaaeil bhaaree |82|Seeing his beauty, all are falling down on earth and getting wounded.82.

ਨਿਰਖਿ ਰੂਪ ਅਜਿ ਰਾਜ ਕੋ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
nirakh roop aj raaj ko reejh rahe nar naar |All the men and women are getting fascinated by seeing the form of the state today.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਿ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਿ ਸੂਰ ਇਹਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੮੩॥
eindr ki chandr ki soor ihi ih bidh karat bichaar |83|The men and women are getting pleased on seeing the comeliness of form of king Aj and have not been able to decide whether he is Indra, Chandra of Surya.83.
