ਯਾ ਸਮ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਇਹ ਦੈ ਹੈ ਖੋਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੯॥
yaa sam sundar purakh ih dai hai khoj milaae |9|That (we) will find a handsome man like him and marry him. 9.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਪਰੀ ਰਾਜ ਕੀ ਪਰੀ ਸਭਾਗ੍ਰਯਾ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
paree raaj kee paree sabhaagrayaa paae kai |By obtaining the permission of all the fairies of Shah Pari
ਚਲਤ ਭਈ ਸਖਿ ਸਹਸ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਨਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
chalat bhee sakh sahas singaar banaae kai |And thousands (meaning very many) beautifully decorated and went.
ਖੋਜਿ ਫਿਰੀ ਸਭ ਦੇਸ ਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਾਇਯੋ ॥
khoj firee sabh des na sundar paaeiyo |(They) searched the whole country but no one found a beauty (kunvar) of his level.
ਹੋ ਏਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਰਿਖਿ ਤਹ ਤਿਨ ਭੇਦ ਬਤਾਇਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
ho ek huto rikh tah tin bhed bataaeiyo |10|There was a sage there, he explained the secret to them. 10.

ਇਕ ਰਿਖਿ ਥੋ ਕਾਨਨ ਇਕ ਭੀਤਰ ॥
eik rikh tho kaanan ik bheetar |There was a sage (living) in a forest.
ਤਾ ਸਮ ਤਪੀ ਨ ਥੋ ਅਵਨੀ ਪਰ ॥
taa sam tapee na tho avanee par |There was no other ascetic like him on earth ('Avni').
ਤਿਨਿਕ ਅਪਛਰਾ ਤਹਾ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
tinik apachharaa tahaa nihaaree |He saw a baby there
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਾਨਿ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੧॥
kripaa jaan ih bhaat uchaaree |11|And graciously said thus. 11.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਕੋ ਹੈ ਰੀ ਤੂ ਕਹ ਚਲੀ ਕ੍ਯੋਨ ਆਈ ਇਹ ਦੇਸ ॥
ko hai ree too kah chalee kayon aaee ih des |Ari! Who are you, where have you gone and why have you come to this country?
ਕੈ ਤੂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਕੈ ਅਬਲਾ ਅਲਿਕੇਸ ॥੧੨॥
kai too isatree indr kee kai abalaa alikes |12|Are you Indra's wife, or Kubera's wife? 12

ਕਿਹ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇ ਤੈ ਹ੍ਯਾਂ ਆਈ ॥
kih kaaran te tai hayaan aaee |Why did you come here?
ਕਹੁ ਕਵਨੈ ਕਿਹ ਕਾਜ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
kahu kavanai kih kaaj patthaaee |Tell who has sent you (here) for what purpose.
ਸਾਚ ਕਹੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਦੈ ਹੌ ॥
saach kahe bin jaan na dai hau |I will not let you go without telling the truth.
ਨਾਤਰ ਸ੍ਰਾਪ ਅਬੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਕੈ ਹੌ ॥੧੩॥
naatar sraap abai tuhi kai hau |13|Otherwise, I will curse you. 13.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਮੁਨਿ ਚਲੀ ਅਪਛਰਾ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
ek divas mun chalee apachharaa dhaae kai |(Apachara answered) O Muni! One day Shah Pari came in a hurry
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਰਹੀ ਉਰਝਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
nirakh kuar ko roop rahee urajhaae kai |And seeing the form of (one) Kumari became enchanted.
ਚਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਯਾ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕੁਅਰ ਹੂੰ ਪਾਇਯੈ ॥
chit meh kiyaa bichaar kuar hoon paaeiyai |(He) contemplated in his heart that this Kumari
ਹੋ ਐਸੋ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਖੋਜਿ ਸੁ ਯਾਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਯੈ ॥੧੪॥
ho aaiso sundar khoj su yaeh milaaeiyai |14|Similarly beautiful virgins should be searched and merged. 14.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਹਮ ਸੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹਸ੍ਰਨ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ॥
ham see sakhee sahasran sundar |To thousands of beautiful friends like me
ਪਠੈ ਦਈ ਦਸਹੂੰ ਦਿਸਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਬਰ ॥
patthai dee dasahoon dis mun bar |O great sage! Sent in ten directions.
ਖੋਜਿ ਥਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
khoj thakee preetam neh paayo |(We all) exhausted the search, but could not find (for him) Pritam.
ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਸਭ ਹੇਰਿ ਗਵਾਯੋ ॥੧੫॥
des des sabh her gavaayo |15|Lost all (time in vain) by traveling from country to country. 15.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਖੋਜਿ ਦੇਸ ਬ੍ਯਾਕੁਲ ਭਈ ਆਈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਪਾਸ ॥
khoj des bayaakul bhee aaee tumare paas |I came to you after searching and searching.
ਦੀਜੈ ਸੁਘਰ ਬਤਾਇ ਕਹੂੰ ਕਾਰਜ ਆਵਹਿ ਰਾਸ ॥੧੬॥
deejai sughar bataae kahoon kaaraj aaveh raas |16|O Sughad (Sujan!), tell me some (upa) so that the work can be done. 16.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਏਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਯੋ ॥
brahamaa ek purakh upajaayo |(The sage said) Brahma has created a man
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਜਨਮ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
nrip ke dhaam janam tin paayo |And he is born in a king's house.
ਸਾਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਨ ਪਾਰ ਬਸਤ ਸੋ ॥
saat samundran paar basat so |He dwells beyond the seven seas.
ਕੋ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਤਿਹ ਲ੍ਯਾਇ ਸਕਤ ਸੋ ॥੧੭॥
ko pahuchai tih layaae sakat so |17|Who can reach there and bring him. 17.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਰਿਖਿ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਚਲਤ ਭਈ ਸੁ ਕੁਮਾਰਿ ॥
rikh ke ih bidh bachan sun chalat bhee su kumaar |Hearing such words of the sage, that fairy went away
ਸਪਤ ਸਿੰਧ ਕੇ ਛਿਨਿਕ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਤ ਭਈ ਉਹਿ ਪਾਰ ॥੧੮॥
sapat sindh ke chhinik meh jaat bhee uhi paar |18|And crossed the seven seas in a flash. 18.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਦਨ ਹੁਤੋ ਜਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਰ ॥
sundar sadan huto jah nrip bar |(There) was the beautiful palace of the king,
ਜਾਤ ਭਈ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਘਰ ॥
jaat bhee sundar taeh ghar |Sundari went to that house.
ਜਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੁਤ ਆਸ੍ਰਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਯਾ ॥
jah nrip sut aasram sun leeyaa |Where the residence of the king's son was heard,
ਗਈ ਤਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਕੀਯਾ ॥੧੯॥
gee tahaa tin bilam na keeyaa |19|Arrived there without delay. 19.
ਲੋਕੰਜਨ ਡਾਰਤ ਚਖ ਭਈ ॥
lokanjan ddaarat chakh bhee |(He) put magic surma in the eyes.
ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁਤੀ ਲੋਪ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥
paragatt hutee lop hvai gee |(He who was) in manifest form, (by drinking antimony) disappeared.
ਯਹ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
yah sabh hee ko roop nihaarai |She could see all forms,
