ਤੁਪਕ ਤੜਾਕ ॥
tupak tarraak |guns crackle,
ਕੈਬਰ ਕੜਾਕ ॥
kaibar karraak |The guns, arrows, lances and axes create noises.
ਸੈਹਥੀ ਸੜਾਕ ॥
saihathee sarraak |Sayhathiyas are played with the sound of 'sarr'.
ਛੋਹੀ ਛੜਾਕ ॥੨੦॥
chhohee chharraak |20|The warriors shout.20.
ਗਜੇ ਸੁਬੀਰ ॥
gaje subeer |Warriors roar.
ਬਜੇ ਗਹੀਰ ॥
baje gaheer |The heroes who stand firmly in the field, thunder.
ਬਿਚਰੇ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥
bichare nihang |Warriors (eng in Nihang war-land) roam
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਲੰਗ ॥੨੧॥
jaise palang |21|The fighters move in the field like leopards.21.
ਹੁਕੇ ਕਿਕਾਣ ॥
huke kikaan |the horses neigh,
ਧੁਕੇ ਨਿਸਾਣ ॥
dhuke nisaan |The horses neigh and the trumpets resound.
ਬਾਹੈ ਤੜਾਕ ॥
baahai tarraak |(Warriors on one side) run fast (armors).
ਝਲੈ ਝੜਾਕ ॥੨੨॥
jhalai jharraak |22|The warriors strike their weapons enthusiastically and also endure the blows.22.
ਜੁਝੇ ਨਿਹੰਗ ॥
jujhe nihang |(achieved heroic) by fighting (in war)
ਲਿਟੈ ਮਲੰਗ ॥
littai malang |The warriors falling as martyrs appear like the carefree intoxicated persons lying down of the ground.
ਖੁਲ੍ਰਹੇ ਕਿਸਾਰ ॥
khulrahe kisaar |(Their) hair is open
ਜਨੁ ਜਟਾ ਧਾਰ ॥੨੩॥
jan jattaa dhaar |23|Their disheveled hair appear like the matted hair (of hermits).23.
ਸਜੇ ਰਜਿੰਦ੍ਰ ॥
saje rajindr |Great kings are adorned
ਗਜੇ ਗਜਿੰਦ੍ਰ ॥
gaje gajindr |And the great elephants are roaring.
ਉਤਰੇ ਖਾਨ ॥
autare khaan |(From them) Khan
ਲੈ ਲੈ ਕਮਾਨ ॥੨੪॥
lai lai kamaan |24|The huge elephants are decorated and the warrior-chiefs descending from them and holding their bows, thunder in the field.24.

ਕੁਪਿਯੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੰ ਸਜਿ ਮਰਾਲੰ ਬਾਹ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਧਰਿ ਢਾਲੰ ॥
kupiyo kripaalan saj maraalan baah bisaal dhar dtaalan |Kirpal Chand, in great ire, decorated his horse and he, the lond-armed warrior held his shield.
ਧਾਏ ਸਭ ਸੂਰੰ ਰੂਪ ਕਰੂਰੰ ਮਚਕਤ ਨੂਰੰ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਲੰ ॥
dhaae sabh sooran roop karooran machakat nooran mukh laalan |All the dreadful-looking warriors, with red and radiant faces were moving.
ਲੈ ਲੈ ਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨੰ ਬਾਣ ਕਮਾਣੰ ਸਜੇ ਜੁਆਨੰ ਤਨ ਤਤੰ ॥
lai lai su kripaanan baan kamaanan saje juaanan tan tatan |Holding their swords and decorated with bow and arrows, the youthful warriors, full of heat
ਰਣਿ ਰੰਗ ਕਲੋਲੰ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਬੋਲੈ ਜਨੁ ਗਜ ਡੋਲੰ ਬਨਿ ਮਤੰ ॥੨੫॥
ran rang kalolan maar hee bolai jan gaj ddolan ban matan |25|Are engaged in frolics in the battlefield and shouting “kill, kill” appear like intoxicated elephants in the forst.25.
ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang prayaat chhand |BHUYANG STAZA
ਤਬੈ ਕੋਪੀਯੰ ਕਾਗੜੇਸੰ ਕਟੋਚੰ ॥
tabai kopeeyan kaagarresan kattochan |Then the King of Kangra (Kripal Chand) Katoch got angry.
ਮੁਖੰ ਰਕਤ ਨੈਨੰ ਤਜੇ ਸਰਬ ਸੋਚੰ ॥
mukhan rakat nainan taje sarab sochan |Then the Raja of Kangra (Kirpal Chand Katoch) was filled with anger. His face and eyes became red with rage and he freed himself from all other thoughts.
ਉਤੈ ਉਠੀਯੰ ਖਾਨ ਖੇਤੰ ਖਤੰਗੰ ॥
autai uttheeyan khaan khetan khatangan |From there (Hussaini's companions) the Pathans are standing with arrows in the battle-field.
ਮਨੋ ਬਿਹਚਰੇ ਮਾਸ ਹੇਤੰ ਪਲੰਗੰ ॥੨੬॥
mano bihachare maas hetan palangan |26|From another side, the Khans entered with arrows in their hands. It seemed that the leopards were roaming in search of flesh.26.
ਬਜੀ ਭੇਰ ਭੁੰਕਾਰ ਤੀਰੰ ਤੜਕੇ ॥
bajee bher bhunkaar teeran tarrake |The bows rattle, the arrows crackle.
ਮਿਲੇ ਹਥਿ ਬੰਥੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ ਕੜਕੇ ॥
mile hath banthan kripaanan karrake |The kettledrums, the arrows and swords in action create their particular sounds, the hands move towards the wounded waist.
ਬਜੇ ਜੰਗ ਨੀਸਾਣ ਕਥੇ ਕਥੀਰੰ ॥
baje jang neesaan kathe katheeran |(Somewhere) the trumpets sound in war (and somewhere) they sing twenty and a half times.
ਫਿਰੈ ਰੁੰਡ ਮੁਡੰ ਤਨੰ ਤਛ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੨੭॥
firai rundd muddan tanan tachh teeran |27|The trumpets resound in the field and the minstrels sing their heroic ballads, the bodies are pierced by arrows and the headless trunks are moving in the field. 27
ਉਠੈ ਟੋਪ ਟੂਕੰ ਗੁਰਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
autthai ttop ttookan gurajai prahaare |(Somewhere) there is a knock-knock (sound) on the helmets.
ਰੁਲੇ ਲੁਥ ਜੁਥੰ ਗਿਰੇ ਬੀਰ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
rule luth juthan gire beer maare |The blows of maces on helmets create knocking sounds, the bodies of killed warriors are rolling in dust.
ਪਰੈ ਕਤੀਯੰ ਘਾਤ ਨਿਰਘਾਤ ਬੀਰੰ ॥
parai kateeyan ghaat niraghaat beeran |The swords are inflicting wounds on the bodies of heroes
ਫਿਰੈ ਰੁਡ ਮੁੰਡੰ ਤਨੰ ਤਨ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੨੮॥
firai rudd munddan tanan tan teeran |28|The bodies pierced by arrows and headless trunks are moving in the field.28.
ਬਹੀ ਬਾਹੁ ਆਘਾਤ ਨਿਰਘਾਤ ਬਾਣੰ ॥
bahee baahu aaghaat niraghaat baanan |The arrows are continuously moving with the strokes of the arms.
ਉਠੇ ਨਦ ਨਾਦੰ ਕੜਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ ॥
autthe nad naadan karrake kripaanan |The arms are engaged in continuously shooting arrows, the striking swords are creating grave clatrtering sounds.
ਛਕੇ ਛੋਭ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਤਜੈ ਬਾਣ ਰਾਜੀ ॥
chhake chhobh chhatr tajai baan raajee |The warriors, in great fury, are showering volleys of arrows
ਬਹੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਖਾਲੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਛੂਛ ਤਾਜੀ ॥੨੯॥
bahe jaeh khaalee firai chhoochh taajee |29|Some arrows miss the targets and on account of some arrows, the horses are seen roaming without the riders.29.
ਜੁਟੇ ਆਪ ਮੈ ਬੀਰ ਬੀਰੰ ਜੁਝਾਰੇ ॥
jutte aap mai beer beeran jujhaare |(Somewhere) among themselves are the warriors Gutham Guttha,
ਮਨੋ ਗਜ ਜੁਟੈ ਦੰਤਾਰੇ ਦੰਤਾਰੇ ॥
mano gaj juttai dantaare dantaare |The brave warriors fighting with each other appear like the elephants with tusks fighting mutually,
ਕਿਧੋ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋ ਸਾਰਦੂਲੰ ਅਰੁਝੇ ॥
kidho singh so saaradoolan arujhe |(Like) a lion fighting a lion,
ਤਿਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਜੁਝੇ ॥੩੦॥
tisee bhaat kirapaal gopaal jujhe |30|Or the tiger confronting the tiger. In a similar manner, Gopal Chand Guleria is fighting with Kirpal Chand (the ally of Hussaini).30.
ਹਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਯੋ ਤਹਾ ਏਕ ਬੀਰੰ ॥
haree singh dhaayo tahaa ek beeran |Then the warrior Hari Singh (of Hussaini's party) came charging.
ਸਹੇ ਦੇਹ ਆਪੰ ਭਲੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਤੀਰੰ ॥
sahe deh aapan bhalee bhaat teeran |Then another warrior Hari Singh rushed into the field he received many arrows in his body.
