ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਛਕੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਧਿਆਨ ਲਗੈ ਕੈ ॥
brikhabhaan sutaa at prem chhakee man mai jadubeer ko dhiaan lagai kai |
ਰੋਵਤ ਭੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਦੁਖ ਸੋ ਸੰਗ ਕਾਜਰ ਨੀਰ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਢਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
rovat bhee at hee dukh so sang kaajar neer giriyo dtar kai kai |Being deeply absorbed in the love of Krishna, Radha began to weep in great affliction and with her tears, the antimony of the eyes also came out
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਉਚ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਉਮਗੈ ਕੈ ॥
taa chhab ko jas uch mahaa kab sayaam kahiyo mukh te umagai kai |
ਚੰਦਹਿ ਕੋ ਜੁ ਕਲੰਕ ਹੁਤੋ ਮਨੋ ਨੈਨਨਿ ਪੈਡ ਚਲ੍ਯੋ ਨਿਚੁਰੈ ਕੈ ॥੯੪੦॥
chandeh ko ju kalank huto mano nainan paidd chalayo nichurai kai |940|The poet, getting pleased in his mind, says that the black blemish of the moon, being washed, is flowing with the water of the eyes.940.
ਗਹਿ ਧੀਰਜ ਊਧਵ ਸੋ ਬਚਨਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥
geh dheeraj aoodhav so bachanaa brikhabhaan sutaa ih bhaat uchaare |
ਨੇਹੁ ਤਜਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਸਨ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਜਾਨਤ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥
nehu tajiyo brij baasan so tih te kachhoo jaanat dokh bichaare |Getting strength of endurance with her talk with Udhava, Radha said, “Perhaps Krishna has forsaken his love for the residents of Braja on account of some flaw
ਬੈਠਿ ਗਏ ਰਥ ਭੀਤਰ ਆਪ ਨਹੀ ਇਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਊ ਓਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
baitth ge rath bheetar aap nahee in kee soaoo or nihaare |“While going away, he sat silently in the chariot and did not even look towards the residents of Braja
ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੋ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਹਮ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਘਟ ਭਾਗ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੯੪੧॥
tayaag ge brij ko mathuraa ham jaanat hai ghatt bhaag hamaare |941|We know that this is our misfortune that relinquishing Braja, Krishna has gone to Matura.941.
ਜਬ ਜੈਹੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕੈ ਬਿਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਹਮਰੀ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਇਹ ਕੀਜੋ ॥
jab jaiho kahiyo mathuraa kai bikhai har pai hamaree binatee ih keejo |“O Udhava! When you go to Matura, then make a supplication to him from our side
ਪਾਇਨ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਰਹੀਯੋ ਘਟਕਾ ਦਸ ਜੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਲੀਜੋ ॥
paaein ko geh kai raheeyo ghattakaa das jo muhi naameh leejo |Lie prostrate at the feet of Krishna for a few hours and continue shouting my name
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਪਾਛੇ ਤੇ ਮੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਹਿ ਸੋ ਉਚਰੀਜੋ ॥
taahee ke paachhe te mo bateeyaa sun lai ih bhaateh so uchareejo |
ਜਾਨਤ ਹੋ ਹਿਤ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਗਏ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਹਮਰੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਭੀਜੋ ॥੯੪੨॥
jaanat ho hit tayaag ge kabahoon hamare hit ke sang bheejo |942|“After this tell him this from my side, ‘O Krishna! you have relinquished love for us, now absorb yourself in love with us sometime again.’ “942.
ਊਧਵ ਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਬਚਨਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੋ ਉਚਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
aoodhav ko brikhabhaan sutaa bachanaa ih bhaat so uchariyo hai |
ਤਿਆਗ ਦਈ ਜਬ ਅਉਰ ਕਥਾ ਮਨ ਜਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
tiaag dee jab aaur kathaa man jau sang sayaam ke prem bhariyo hai |Radha spoke to Udhava in this manner, “O Udhava! absorbing myself in the love of Krishna, I have forsaken everything else
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਸੋਊ ਕਹੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਜੋਊ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
taa sang soaoo kaho bateeyaa ban mai hamaro joaoo sang ariyo hai |“Remind him about my displeasure in the forest saying that I had exhibited great persistence with you
ਮੈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਨ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਮਾਨ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੯੪੩॥
mai tumare sang maan kariyo tum hoon hamare sang maan kariyo hai |943|Are you now showing the same persistence with me? 943.
ਬਨ ਮੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਬ ਸੋ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਚਿਤਾਰੋ ॥
ban mai hamaro sang kel kare man mai ab so jadubeer chitaaro |“O hero of Yadavas! remember those occasions, when you indulged in amorous sport with me in the forest
ਮੋਰੇ ਜੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਹੀ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਹਿਤ ਕੀ ਸੋਈ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਨਿਹਾਰੋ ॥
more ju sang kahee bateeyaa hit kee soee apane chit nihaaro |Remember the talk of love in your mind
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਕਰੋ ਕਿਹ ਹੇਤ ਤਜਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਔ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕੋ ਪਧਾਰੋ ॥
taahee ko dhayaan karo kih het tajiyo brij aau mathuraa ko padhaaro |
ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਕਛੁ ਦੋਸ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਹੈ ਘਟ ਭਾਗ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥੯੪੪॥
jaanat hai tumaro kachh dos nahee kachh hai ghatt bhaag hamaaro |944|“Thinking about that, please tell me the reason why you have relinquished Braja and gone to Matura? I know that you are not at fault in doing this, but our fortune is not good.”944.
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਉਤਰ ਦੇਤ ਭਯੋ ਊਧਵ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਘਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੰਗ ਤੇਰੈ ॥
yau sun utar det bhayo aoodhav preet ghanee har kee sang terai |Hearing these words, Udhava replied, “O Radha! the love of Krishna with you is extremely profound
ਜਾਨਤ ਹੋ ਅਬ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਉਪਜੈ ਇਹ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੈ ॥
jaanat ho ab aavat hai upajai ih chint kahiyo man merai |My mind says that he will come now,”
ਕਿਉ ਮਥਰਾ ਤਜਿ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਜੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਨਹਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਫੇਰੈ ॥
kiau matharaa taj aavat hai ju firai neh gvaaran ke fun ferai |Radha says again that Krishna did not stop at the behest of the gopis, what can now be his purpose of leaving Mathura and coming here?
ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਘਟਿ ਭਾਗਨ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਡੇਰੈ ॥੯੪੫॥
jaanat hai hamare ghatt bhaagan aavat hai har joo fir dderai |945|He did not stop at our bidding and if he now returns to his house, then we shall not agree that our fortune is not so forceful.945.
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਰੋਵਤ ਭੀ ਲਲਨਾ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੋਕ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
yau keh rovat bhee lalanaa apane man mai at sok badtaayo |Saying thus, Radha in great grief, began to weep bitterly
ਝੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਪਰ ਸੋ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਆਨੰਦ ਥੋ ਤਿਤਨੋ ਬਿਸਰਾਯੋ ॥
jhoom giree prithamee par so hridai aanand tho titano bisaraayo |Forsaking the happiness of her heart, she became unconscious and fell down upon the earth
ਭੂਲ ਗਈ ਸੁਧਿ ਅਉਰ ਸਬੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਿਨ ਲਾਯੋ ॥
bhool gee sudh aaur sabai har ke man dhayaan bikhai tin laayo |She forgot all other things and her mind was absorbed in Krishna
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਊਧਵ ਸੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਟੇਰਿ ਹਹਾ ਹਮਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੯੪੬॥
yau keh aoodhav so tin tter hahaa hamare grihi sayaam na aayo |946|She again said loudly to Udhava, “Alas! Krishna has not come to my house.946.
ਜਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨੋ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਕੁੰਜ ਗਲੀਨ ਮੈ ਖੇਲ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
jaahee ke sang suno mil kai ham kunj galeen mai khel machaayo |
ਗਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਸੋਊ ਠਉਰ ਤਹਾ ਹਮਹੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਤਹ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਯੋ ॥
gaavat bhayo soaoo tthaur tahaa hamahoon mil kai tah mangal gaayo |“He, with whom we sported in the alcoves and together with him, we used to sing songs of praise,
ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਇਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਤੇ ਮਨੂਆ ਉਚਟਾਯੋ ॥
so brij tayaag ge mathuraa in gvaaran te manooaa uchattaayo |“The same Krishna, relinquishing Braja has gone to Matura and his mind is displeased with the gopis
ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਊਧਵ ਸੋ ਤਿਨ ਟੇਰਿ ਹਹਾ ਹਮਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੯੪੭॥
yau keh aoodhav so tin tter hahaa hamare grihi sayaam na aayo |947|” Saying thus, Radha said to Udhava, “Alas! Krishna has not come to my house.947.
ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਗਯੋ ਮਥਰਾ ਕੋ ਸੋਊ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥
brij tayaag gayo matharaa ko soaoo man te sabh hee brijanaath bisaaree |“He relinquished Braja and went to Matura and the lord of Braja forgot everyone
ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚੇ ਪੁਰ ਬਾਸਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਊ ਜਾਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
sang rache pur baasin ke kab sayaam kahai soaoo jaan piaaree |He was engrossed in the love of the residents of the city
ਊਧਵ ਜੂ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਬ੍ਯਾਕੁਲ ਭੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
aoodhav joo suneeyai birathaa tih te at bayaakul bhee brij naaree |
ਕੰਚੁਰੀ ਜਿਉ ਅਹਿਰਾਜ ਤਜੈ ਤਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਜੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਰ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੯੪੮॥
kanchuree jiau ahiraaj tajai tih bhaat tajee brij naar muraaree |948|“O Udhava! listen, the women of Braja have been worrying so much because Krishna has forsaken them just as the snake abandons its slough.”948.
ਊਧਵ ਕੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੰਗ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਜਈ ਹੈ ॥
aoodhav ke fir sang kahiyo kab sayaam kahai brikhabhaan jee hai |
ਜਾ ਮੁਖ ਕੇ ਸਮ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜੁ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਪੁਰ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਰੂਪਮਈ ਹੈ ॥
jaa mukh ke sam chandr prabhaa ju tihoon pur maanahu roopamee hai |Radha said again to Udhava, “He, the glory of whose face is like the moon and who is donor of beauty to all the three worlds.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਗਯੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਬ੍ਯਾਕੁਲ ਚਿਤ ਭਈ ਹੈ ॥
sayaam gayo taj kai brij ko tih te at bayaakul chit bhee hai |“That Krishna relinquished Braja and went away
ਜਾ ਦਿਨ ਕੇ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਗਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਹਮਰੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੂੰ ਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥੯੪੯॥
jaa din ke mathuraa mai ge bin tvai hamaree sudh hoon na lee hai |949|This is the reason why we are worried, the day on which Krihsna abandoned Braja and went to Mathura, O Udhava! none except you has come to enquire about us.949.
ਜਾ ਦਿਨ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਨ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਕੋਊ ਮਾਨਸ ਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
jaa din ke brij tayaag ge bin tvai koaoo maanas hoon na patthaayo |“Since the day on which Krishna left Braja, he has sent none other except you
ਹੇਤ ਜਿਤੋ ਇਨ ਊਪਰ ਥੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਤਨੋ ਬਿਸਰਾਯੋ ॥
het jito in aoopar tho kab sayaam kahai titano bisaraayo |Whatever love he had extended to us, he has forgotton all that,” according to the poet Shyam he himself had been engrossed with the people of the city of Mathura,
ਆਪ ਰਚੇ ਪੁਰ ਬਾਸਿਨ ਸੋ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੈ ਉਨ ਕੋ ਰਿਝਵਾਯੋ ॥
aap rache pur baasin so in ko dukh dai un ko rijhavaayo |And in order to please them, he has harraseds the people of Braja
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਜਾਇ ਕੋ ਯੌ ਕਹੀਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਾ ਜੀਯ ਆਯੋ ॥੯੫੦॥
taa sang jaae ko yau kaheeyo har jee tumare kahu kaa jeey aayo |950|“O Udhava! When you go there, kindly tell him, “O Krishna! what had occurred in your mind that you did all that.’950.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕਉ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਪ ਨਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਆਏ ॥
tayaag ge mathuraa brij kau chal kai fir aap nahee brij aae |“Leaving Braja, he went to Mathura and from that day to this day he has not returned to Braja
ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚੇ ਪੁਰਬਾਸਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਮਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਪਾਏ ॥
sang rache purabaasin ke kab sayaam kahai man aanand paae |Being pleased, he is absorbed with the residents of Mathura
ਦੈ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਦੁਖ ਊਧਵ ਪੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨ ਹੁਲਾਸ ਬਢਾਏ ॥
dai gayo hai in ko dukh aoodhav pai man mai na hulaas badtaae |“He did not increase the happiness of the inhabitants of Braja, but gave them only sufferings
ਆਪ ਨ ਥੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਮੈ ਉਪਜੇ ਇਨ ਸੋ ਸੁ ਭਏ ਛਿਨ ਬੀਚ ਪਰਾਏ ॥੯੫੧॥
aap na the brij mai upaje in so su bhe chhin beech paraae |951|Krishna born in Braja was our own, but now in an instant he belongs to others.”951.
