ਲਯੋ ਉਠਾਇ ਸੂਲ ਕਰਿ ਬਲੈ ॥
layo utthaae sool kar balai |When Shiva reached the place where Sati had burnt herself, he caught his trident also very firmly.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat tin kare prahaaraa |He attacked in many ways.
ਸਕਲ ਬਿਧੁੰਸ ਜਗ ਕਰ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੭॥
sakal bidhuns jag kar ddaaraa |17|With blows of various types, he destroyed the merit of the whole Yajna (sacrifice).17.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਨ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
bhaat bhaat tan bhoop sanghaare |(Shiva) killed the kings in various ways.
ਇਕ ਇਕ ਤੇ ਕਰ ਦੁਇ ਦੁਇ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
eik ik te kar due due ddaare |He destroyed many kings and chopped their bodies into bits.
ਜਾ ਕਹੁ ਪਹੁੰਚਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥
jaa kahu pahunch trisool prahaaraa |Reaching and striking the trident,
ਤਾ ਕਹੁ ਮਾਰ ਠਉਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੮॥
taa kahu maar tthaur hee ddaaraa |18|On whomsoever the blow of the trident struck, he died there and then.18.
ਜਗ ਕੁੰਡ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
jag kundd nirakhat bhayo jab hee |When Shiva looked at the Yag Kund,
ਜੂਟ ਜਟਾਨ ਉਖਾਰਸ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥
joott jattaan ukhaaras tab hee |When Shiva looked into the sacrificial pit and saw he burnt body of Gauri, he began to pluck his matted hair.
ਬੀਰਭਦ੍ਰ ਤਬ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥
beerabhadr tab keea prakaasaa |At that moment Veer Bhadra appeared (from him).
ਉਪਜਤ ਕਰੋ ਨਰੇਸਨ ਨਾਸਾ ॥੧੯॥
aupajat karo naresan naasaa |19|At that time, Virbhandra manifested himself there and after his manifestation, he began to destroy the kings.19.
ਕੇਤਕ ਕਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਬਰ ॥
ketak kare khandd nripat bar |(Vir Bhadar) broke the pieces of many great kings
ਕੇਤਕ ਪਠੈ ਦਏ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ॥
ketak patthai de jam ke ghar |He chopped several kings into part and sent several of them to the abode of Yama.
ਕੇਤਕ ਗਿਰੇ ਧਰਣਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਰਾ ॥
ketak gire dharan bikaraaraa |How many will fall to the earth after being defeated,
ਜਨੁ ਸਰਤਾ ਕੇ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥੨੦॥
jan sarataa ke gire karaaraa |20|Just as with the flooding of the stream, the banks are eroded further, likewise many terrible warriors began to fall on the earth.20.
ਤਬ ਲਉ ਸਿਵਹ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਆਈ ॥
tab lau sivah chetanaa aaee |By then, Shiva remembered (the death of the Gorjas).
ਗਹਿ ਪਿਨਾਕ ਕਹੁ ਪਰੋ ਰਿਸਾਈ ॥
geh pinaak kahu paro risaaee |At that time, Shiva regained his senses and fell on the enemy with his bow in his hand.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਤਾਣਿ ਬਾਣ ਤਨ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
jaa kai taan baan tan maaraa |In whose body an arrow was shot,
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਨਿ ਨੁਚਾਰਾ ॥੨੧॥
praan taje tin paan nuchaaraa |21|Whomsoever Shiva struck his arrow by pulling his bow, he breathed his last there and then.21.
ਡਮਾ ਡਮ ਡਉਰੂ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਜੇ ॥
ddamaa ddam ddauroo bahu baaje |They were playing a lot of drums by drumming,
ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਦਸਊ ਦਿਸਿ ਗਾਜੈ ॥
bhoot pret dsaoo dis gaajai |The tabors began to resound and in all the ten directions, the ghosts and fiends began to roar.
ਝਿਮ ਝਿਮ ਕਰਤ ਅਸਿਨ ਕੀ ਧਾਰਾ ॥
jhim jhim karat asin kee dhaaraa |The edge of the swords was flickering and striking,
ਨਾਚੇ ਰੁੰਡ ਮੁੰਡ ਬਿਕਰਾਰਾ ॥੨੨॥
naache rundd mundd bikaraaraa |22|The swords glittered and their blows were showered and the headless trunks began to dance on all the four sides.22.
ਬਜੇ ਢੋਲ ਸਨਾਇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥
baje dtol sanaae nagaare |Drums, tambourines and nagares were playing,
ਜੁਟੈ ਜੰਗ ਕੋ ਜੋਧ ਜੁਝਾਰੇ ॥
juttai jang ko jodh jujhaare |The trumpets and drums resounded and their sound was heard the warriors fought bravely in the war.
ਖਹਿ ਖਹਿ ਮਰੇ ਅਪਰ ਰਿਸ ਬਢੇ ॥
kheh kheh mare apar ris badte |One was dying and others were getting angry.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਦੇਖੀਯਤ ਤਾਜੀਅਨ ਚਢੇ ॥੨੩॥
bahur na dekheeyat taajeean chadte |23|They collided with one another, being filled with great anger, and they were never seen again, riding on their horses.23.
ਜਾ ਪਰ ਮੁਸਟ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥
jaa par musatt trisool prahaaraa |Whom Shiva struck with the trident,
ਤਾਕਹੁ ਠਉਰ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਾ ॥
taakahu tthaur maar hee ddaaraa |On whomsoever, there was the blow of the trident, held in the fist of Shiva, he was killed there and then,
ਐਸੋ ਭਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਘਮਸਾਨਾ ॥
aaiso bhayo beer ghamasaanaa |Such was the war of pride of warriors
ਭਕ ਭਕਾਇ ਤਹ ਜਗੇ ਮਸਾਨਾ ॥੨੪॥
bhak bhakaae tah jage masaanaa |24|Virbhadra foutht such a fierce fight, that in great confusion, the ghosts and fiends were awakened.24.

ਤੀਰ ਤਬਰ ਬਰਛੀ ਬਿਛੂਅ ਬਰਸੇ ਬਿਸਖ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
teer tabar barachhee bichhooa barase bisakh anek |The arrows, daggers, lances and other types of weapons were showered,
ਸਬ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੂਝਤ ਭਏ ਸਾਬਤ ਬਚਾ ਨ ਏਕ ॥੨੫॥
sab sooraa joojhat bhe saabat bachaa na ek |25|And all the warriors fell as martyras and none remained alive.25.

ਕਟਿ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੇ ਨਰੇਸ ਦੁਖੰਡਾ ॥
katt katt mare nares dukhanddaa |The kings cut each other and died two by two.
ਬਾਇ ਹਨੇ ਗਿਰਿ ਗੇ ਜਨੁ ਝੰਡਾ ॥
baae hane gir ge jan jhanddaa |The kings, chopped into bits, were lying the cluster of trees fallen down by the blow of wind.
ਸੂਲ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜਬ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥
sool sanbhaar rudr jab pariyo |Holding the trident, when Shiva went (to Veridal).
ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੬॥
chitr bachitr ayodhan kariyo |26|When Rudra, holding his trident wrought the destruction, then the scence of that place looked very queer.26.
ਭਾਜ ਭਾਜ ਤਬ ਚਲੇ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥
bhaaj bhaaj tab chale naresaa |(came to attend the yagna) the king ran away
ਜਗ ਬਿਸਾਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
jag bisaar sanbhaariyo desaa |Then the kings, forgetting the Yajna, began to run away to their countries.
ਜਬ ਰਣ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਹੁਐ ਧਾਏ ॥
jab ran rudr rudr huaai dhaae |When Shiva attacked in a fierce form,
ਭਾਜਤ ਭੂਪ ਨ ਬਾਚਨ ਪਾਏ ॥੨੭॥
bhaajat bhoop na baachan paae |27|When Rudra pursued them as fury-incarnate, then none of the running kings could survive.27.
ਤਬ ਸਬ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਜ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
tab sab bhare tej tan raajaa |Then all the kings were filled with anger
ਬਾਜਨ ਲਗੇ ਅਨੰਤਨ ਬਾਜਾ ॥
baajan lage anantan baajaa |Then all the kings, becoming alert, were highly activated and the musical instruments resounded from all the sides.
ਮਚਿਯੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਘੋਰਿ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮਾ ॥
machiyo bahur ghor sangraamaa |Then the war of Ghamsan started.
ਜਮ ਕੋ ਭਰਾ ਛਿਨਕ ਮਹਿ ਧਾਮਾ ॥੨੮॥
jam ko bharaa chhinak meh dhaamaa |28|Then the war become more intense and the house of Yama began to be filled with the dead.28.
ਭੂਪਤ ਫਿਰੇ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨ ॥
bhoopat fire judh ke kaaran |(Fleeing home) the kings turned again to fight.
