‘Looking on the image (of fish) in the oil,
‘Whosoever hit the fish will marry me.’(6)
The princes from all the countries were invited.
They were told to hit the fish while looking at it in the oil.
Many came with great pride and threw arrows.
But no one could hit and they remained disappointed.(7)
Bhujang Verse:
They used to become strong warriors.
But the kings were ashamed because of the lack of arrows.
They walked as low as women,
As if Shilwan woman is not like that. 8.
dual:
Kings went to shoot arrows with crooked wings.
The fish could not be hit by the arrow and they were left with their heads bowed. 9.
(Many) were angry and shot arrows, (but the arrows) did not hit the fish.
(They) used to slip into the cauldron and burn in the oil. 10.
Bhujang Verse:
They used to get burnt like this by falling in oil
The way old women cook.
No warrior could shoot that fish with an arrow.
(Therefore) they went to (their) capitals in shame. 11.
Dohira
The princes were feeling ashamed,
As their arrows were going astray, and they felt remorseful.(12)
Neither they could hit the fish nor they achieved the beloved.
Drenched in humiliation, some went to their homes and some to thejungle.(13)
Chaupaee
Such a story happened there.
The word went round and the news reached to the Pandavs.
Where they used to wander around in misery
Distrustfully, they were already roaming around in the jungles,And were living by hunting deer and eating tree leaves and roots.(14)
Dohira
Kunti’s son (Arjan) announced that,
He was proceeding to the country of Machh where there were bettertrees.(15)
Chaupaee
When the Pandavas heard this
Heeding to his suggestion, they all marched towards the country ofMachh
Where Drupada had created the Suambar
Where swayyamber was proceeding and all the princes had beeninvited.(16)
Dohira
Where Daropdee had arranged swayyamber and cauldron was placed,
Arjan went and stood at the place.(17)
He put both his feet at the cauldron,
And, aiming at the fish, place an arrow in the bow.(18)
Savaiyya
In rage, he looked at the right eye of the fish.
He pulled the bow up to his ears and, with pride, he roared,
‘You, the brave Rajas from all the regions, have failed.’
Challenging thus, he shot an arrow right in the eye.(19)
Dohira
When he had stretched the bow, all the gods were delighted and theyshowered the flowers.
But stubborn competitors were not pleased.(20)
Chaupaee
Seeing this situation, all the warriors were filled with anger
Seeing this phenomenon, the contenders flew into the rage and, takingtheir weapons came forward.
(Thinking that) let's send Yama-Lok to this Jogi
‘We will send this sage-type into death knell and take away Daropdeeas the wife.’(21)
Dohira
Then Parth (Arjan) was outraged, as well, and decimated a few.
He annihilated many and cut off a number of elephants.(22)
Bhujang Verse:
How many umbrellas have been pierced and where young warriors have been released.
How many umbrella holders broke their umbrellas.
How many he killed in disguise and how many he killed (just like that).
Deadly sounds started playing in the four sides. 23.
Dohira
Repulsing those obstinate ones, he picked up the woman,
Killing many more, he put her in the chariot.(24)
Bhujang Chhand
The arms of some were cut off and the feet of others were broken.
Many had their arms and feet cut and the proud ones lost their royalcanopies,.
Some had their stomachs burst and some died on the spot.
