raajaa soodr baach |

Speech of the Shudra king :

nahee hanat toh dij kahee aaj |

O Brahman! Otherwise I will kill you today.

nahee bor baar mo pooj saaj |

Otherwise I will drown you in the sea along with the material of worship.

kai tajahu sev devee prachandd |

Either stop serving Prachanda Devi,

nahee karat aaj to ko dukhandd |172|

“O Brahmin! throw away this material of worship in the water, otherwise I shall kill you today, abandon the worship of the goddess, otherwise I shall chop you into two parts.”172.

bipr baach raajaa sau|

Speech of the Brahmin addressed to the king :

keejai dukhandd neh tajo sev |

(You without hesitation) cut me in two, (but I will not leave the service of the goddess).

sun lehu saach tuhi kaho dev |

O Rajan! Listen, (I) tell you the truth.

kiau na hohi ttook tan ke hajaar |

Why should not my body be broken into a thousand pieces?

nahee tajo paae devee udaar |173|

“O king! I am telling you the truth, you may cut me into two parts, but I cannot leave the worship of the without hesitation, I shall not leave the feet of the goddess.”173.

sun bhayo bain soodar su krudh |

Hearing (these) words, the Shudra (king) became angry

jan juttrayo aan makaraachh judh |

As if Makrachch (giant) had come and joined the war.

doaoo drig sakrudh sronat chuchaan |

(His) two eyes used to bleed out of anger,

jan kaal taeh deenee nisaan |174|

Hearing these words, the Shudra king fell upon the Brahmin like the demon Makraksha on the enemy, the blood gushed up from both the eyes of the Yama-like king.174.

at garab moorr bhritan bulaae |

The fool (the king) called the servants

auchare bain ih hano jaae |

He uttered words with great pride that (take) him and kill him.

lai ge taas drohee durant |

Those terrible treacherous executioners took (him) there

jah sanbhr subh deval subhant |175|

That foolish king called his servants and said, “Kill this Brahmin.” Those tyrants took him to the temple of the goddess.175.

tih baadh aankh musakain charraae |

He was blindfolded and muzzled.

kar leen kaadt as ko nachaae |

(Then) drew the sword with the hand and swung it with the hand.

jab lage den tih teg taan |

When the fire starts to strike,

tab keeo kaal ko bipr dhiaan |176|

Tying the bandage before his eyes and tying his hands, they took out the glistening sword, when they were about to strike the blow with the sword, then that Brahmin remembered KAL (death).176.

jab keeyo chit mo bipr dhiaan |

When the Brahmin meditated (on the old man) in the Chit

tih deen daras tab kaal aan |

Then Kal Purukh came and gave him darshan.
