Gods and demons fought frequently.

The (giant) warriors came angry at him. 11.
The stubborn giants got very angry and came close
and surrounded the king (Dasaratha) on all four sides.
They were shooting arrows like thunderbolts
And Bali (the demon) was shouting 'Kill-Kill' like this. 12.
Stubborn warriors do not retreat
And the great angry warriors began to be killed.
Many war bells started ringing from all four sides.
The deadly tune began to resound and the great warriors began to roar. 13.
How many were slain and how many were suppressed by fear ('Bak'),
Some were knocked down with shields and some were chewed up with machetes.
How many warriors kept shouting with words
And how many umbrella-wearing warriors (in the battlefield) died fighting. 14.
Dohira
From the army of devils, one devil sprung out,
Who annihilated the chariot of Dasrath and threw numerous arrows on him.(15)
Chaupaee
When Bharata's mother (Kakai) heard this
Bharta’s mother (Kaikaee), when heard that the chariot of the Raja had been destroyed,
So he disguised himself as a warrior
She disguised herself, dressed herselfas the Raja’s chariot-driver, and took over.(16)
He drove the chariot in such a manner
She drove the chariot in such a way that, she would not let enemy arrow hit Raja.
Wherever Dasharatha wanted to go,
Wherever Raja wanted to go, the lady took him there.(17)
Kaikai used to drive the chariot like this
She chastened the horses so forcefully that she killed any raja that came on her way.
The dust (of Ranbhoomi) was flying and touching the sky
Although the dust created-storm thickened bUt the raja’s sword spread like lightening.(18)
(The king) cut them to pieces and killed them
It was a dreadful war as, on all sides, brave warriors were swarming.
King Dasharatha became very angry and roared
In the prevailing fights, even pious ones were cut and only (the poet) (19)
Dohira
Innumerable trumpets, trumpets, trumpets, trumpets (were sounding) in the battlefield.
And thousands of Muchang, Sanai, Dugdugi, Doru and Dhol (were making tunes) 20.
Bhujang Chhand
Hearing the roar of the warriors, the cowards are fleeing
And great bells are ringing in a fearful voice.
There is a lot of ghosts there
And the big umbrellas are standing full of anger. 21.
Crores of kirpans are seen embroidered in the hands
And great young warriors are falling on the battlefield.
A huge crowd has come on the heroes
And weapons, weapons, swords and swords are moving. 22.
