ਦੇਗ ਤੇਗ ਕੋ ਜਾਹਿ ਭਰੋਸਾ ॥
deg teg ko jaeh bharosaa |Whom Deg and Teg had (much) confidence.
ਸੁਘਨਾ ਵਤੀ ਸੁਤਾ ਇਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ॥
sughanaa vatee sutaa ik taa kee |He had a daughter named Sughna Vati.
ਰੋਸਨ ਭਯੋ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਸਿ ਵਾ ਕੀ ॥੨॥
rosan bhayo jot sas vaa kee |2|The moon used to shine only with his light. 2.
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਨਿਕਸਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
eik din nikasaa nripat sikaaraa |One day the king went out to play hunting.
ਲਏ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਸੀਚਾਨ ਹਜਾਰਾ ॥
le svaan seechaan hajaaraa |(He took with him) thousands of dogs, hawks,
ਚੀਤਾ ਔਰ ਜਾਰਿਯਨ ਲੀਨੇ ॥
cheetaa aauar jaariyan leene |The pictures, Jary (Mashalchi),
ਸ੍ਰਯਾਹ ਗੋਸ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਸੁ ਚੀਨੇ ॥੩॥
srayaah gos neh jaeh su cheene |3|And Siah Gosh who cannot be counted. 3.
ਲਗਰ ਝਗਰ ਜੁਰਰਾ ਅਰੁ ਬਾਜਾ ॥
lagar jhagar juraraa ar baajaa |Lager, Jhagar, Jurra, Baz,
ਬਹਰੀ ਕੁਹੀ ਸਿਚਾਨ ਸਮਾਜਾ ॥
baharee kuhee sichaan samaajaa |Bahiri, Kuhi etc. hunting birds (taken along).
ਬਾਸੇ ਔਰ ਬਸੀਨੈ ਘਨੀ ॥
baase aauar baseenai ghanee |(Besides these) many bashes, bassins,
ਚਿਪਕ ਧੂਤਿਯੈ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਗਨੀ ॥੪॥
chipak dhootiyai jaeh na ganee |4|They also took stickers, candles etc. which cannot be counted. 4.
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਨ ਖੇਲ ਸਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat tan khel sikaaraa |He played the victim of various things
ਅਧਿਕ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨ ਕਹ ਖੇਦਿ ਪਛਾਰਾ ॥
adhik mrigan kah khed pachhaaraa |and overcame many deer.
ਤਬ ਲਗਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਬਰਾਹਿਕ ਆਯੋ ॥
tab lag drisatt baraahik aayo |Then a pig appeared in his sight.
ਤਿਹ ਪਾਛੇ ਤਿਹ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਧਵਾਯੋ ॥੫॥
tih paachhe tih turang dhavaayo |5|He chased the horse after him. 5.
ਜਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਤਾਹੀ ਕੇ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
jaat bhayo taahee ke desaa |He drove the horse with the speed of the wind
ਹਾਕਿ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਪਵਨ ਕੇ ਭੇਸਾ ॥
haak turang pavan ke bhesaa |He reached the country of the same (Sughna Vati).
ਸੁਘਨਾ ਵਤੀ ਲਖਾ ਜਬ ਤਾ ਕੌ ॥
sughanaa vatee lakhaa jab taa kau |When Sughna Vati saw him
ਲਯੋ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਤਹੀ ਤੇ ਵਾ ਕੌ ॥੬॥
layo bulaae tahee te vaa kau |6|So from there (he) called that king. 6.
ਧੌਲਰ ਤਰ ਕਮੰਦ ਲਰਕਾਈ ॥
dhaualar tar kamand larakaaee |Hanging bow under the palace
ਲਯੋ ਤਿਸੌ ਤਿਹ ਪੈਡ ਚੜਾਈ ॥
layo tisau tih paidd charraaee |And took him up (up) through that way.
ਕਾਮ ਭੋਗ ਅਤਿ ਰੁਚ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
kaam bhog at ruch kar maanaa |Loved her passionately,
ਭੇਦ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਮਨੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੭॥
bhed doosare manukh na jaanaa |7|(Whose) secret was not known by any other human being.7.
ਤਬ ਤਿਹ ਪਿਤ ਯੌ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
tab tih pit yau hridai bichaaraa |Then his father thought like this in his heart
ਨਿਜੁ ਰਾਨੀ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
nij raanee ke saath uchaaraa |And said to his queen
ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਆਉ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੇ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
ham tum aau sutaa ke jaahee |That you and I (both) should go to the daughter's house.
ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਸੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੮॥
duhitaa hoe khusee man maahee |8|The daughter will be very happy (seeing us come) in her heart. 8.
ਤਬ ਵੈ ਦੋਊ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੇ ਗਏ ॥
tab vai doaoo sutaa ke ge |Then they both went to the daughter's (house).
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਦ੍ਵਾਰ ਪਰ ਭਏ ॥
taa ke praapat dvaar par bhe |And reached his door.
ਸੁਘਨਾ ਵਤੀ ਤਿਹ ਲਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
sughanaa vatee tih lakh dukh paayo |Sughna Vati was very sad to see them.
ਅਧਿਕ ਅਸਰਫੀ ਕਾਢਿ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥੯॥
adhik asarafee kaadt mangaayo |9|(Then he) called many nobles. 9.
ਔਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਿਨ ਅਤਿਥ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
aauar adhik tin atith bulaae |He called many saints
ਏਕ ਏਕ ਦੈ ਮੁਹਰ ਪਠਾਏ ॥
ek ek dai muhar patthaae |And gave one by one seal.
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕਰ ਮੰਗਨਾ ॥
tin ke maeh nripat kar manganaa |By making the king in them as a beggar
ਦੈ ਸਤ ਮੁਹਰ ਨਿਕਾਰਿਯੋ ਅੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੦॥
dai sat muhar nikaariyo anganaa |10|(He) gave seven (one hundred) seals and removed it from the courtyard. 10.
ਮੁਰ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਲਖ੍ਯੋ ਇਨ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
mur paravaar lakhayo in raajaa |(His father) the king thought it belonged to my family.
ਏਤੋ ਦਯੋ ਦਰਬ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਾਜਾ ॥
eto dayo darab bin kaajaa |Without doing any work (he) has donated so much money (meaning - has given it in the joy of coming from my head).
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਗੁਨ ਤਵਨ ਕਹ ਦਯੋ ॥
taa te dugun tavan kah dayo |So he gave him double (money).
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਭਯੋ ॥੧੧॥
bhed abhed na jaanat bhayo |11|And he could not understand the difference. 11.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਰਾਜ ਸੁਤਾ ਪਿਯ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੌ ਇਹ ਛਲ ਅਤਿਥ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
raaj sutaa piy mitr kau ih chhal atith banaae |Raj Kumari made (her) dear friend a saint by trickery
ਦੈ ਅਸਰਫੀ ਨਿਕਾਰਿਯੋ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਰਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
dai asarafee nikaariyo bhed na jaanaa raae |12|And removed him by giving him Ashraf. The king could not understand this secret. 12.
ਮਨ ਮਾਨਤ ਕੋ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਤ ਅਰੁ ਮਾਤ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
man maanat ko bhog kar pit ar maat dikhaae |After feasting to his heart's content, he showed it to his parents.
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਸੌ ਕਾਢਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨ ਗਹਿਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
eih chhal sau kaadtaa tisai kinahoon na gahiyo banaae |13|(But no one could catch him) by tricking him. 13.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਤੀਨ ਸੌ ਸਾਤ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੩੦੭॥੫੮੮੫॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥
eit sree charitr pakhayaane triyaa charitre mantree bhoop sanbaade teen sau saat charitr samaapatam sat subham sat |307|5885|afajoon|Here is the conclusion of the 307th charitra of Mantri Bhup Sambad of Tria Charitra of Sri Charitropakhyan, all is auspicious.307.5885. goes on
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਕੋਚ ਬਿਹਾਰ ਸਹਿਰ ਜਹ ਬਸੈ ॥
koch bihaar sahir jah basai |Where the city of Kooch (Cooch) Bihar used to live,
ਅਮਰਾਵਤੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਕਹ ਹਸੈ ॥
amaraavatee puree kah hasai |Who used to laugh (seeing) Amaravati (Indra) Puri.
ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਕੇਤੁ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਪ ਭਨਿਜੈ ॥
bridh ket tih bhoop bhanijai |Bridha Ketu was said to be the king there.
ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਟਤਰ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਜੈ ॥੧॥
ko raajaa pattatar tih dijai |1|With which king should we compare him (ie - there was no other king like him) 1.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਫੁਟ ਬੇਸਰਿ ਦੇ ਤਹ ਦਾਰਾ ॥
sree futt besar de tah daaraa |His wife's name was Sri Phut Besari De (Dei).
ਜਿਹ ਸਮ ਦੇਵ ਨ ਦੇਵ ਕੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
jih sam dev na dev kumaaraa |Like whom there was no Goddess Tri or Dev Kumari (anyone).
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਰੂਪ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
taa ko jaat na roop uchaaraa |His form cannot be described.
ਦਿਵਸ ਭਯੋ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਜਿਯਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
divas bhayo taa te ujiyaaraa |2|Even the day used to get light from him. 2.
ਹਾਜੀ ਰਾਇ ਤਹਾ ਖਤਿਰੇਟਾ ॥
haajee raae tahaa khatirettaa |There was a man called Haji Rai.
ਇਸਕ ਮੁਸਕ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਲਪੇਟਾ ॥
eisak musak ke saath lapettaa |(He) was completely engrossed in love.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
taa kee jaat na prabhaa uchaaree |His brilliance cannot be extolled.
ਫੂਲਿ ਰਹੀ ਜਾਨੁਕ ਫੁਲਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
fool rahee jaanuk fulavaaree |3|(It looked like this) as if a flower was blooming. 3.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਫੁਟ ਬੇਸਰਿ ਦੇ ਤਿਹ ਲਹਾ ॥
sree futt besar de tih lahaa |Sri Phut Besari Dei saw him
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਚਿਤ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਹਿ ਕਹਾ ॥
eih bidh chit apane meh kahaa |And thus said in his mind,
ਕੈ ਅਬ ਮਰੌ ਕਟਾਰੀ ਹਨਿ ਕੈ ॥
kai ab marau kattaaree han kai |Either I'll be stabbed to death now,
ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭਜੌ ਆਜੁ ਬਨਿ ਠਨਿ ਕੈ ॥੪॥
kai ih bhajau aaj ban tthan kai |4|Or today I will make love with it. 4.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਮਸਿ ਭੀਜਤ ਤਿਹ ਬਦਨ ਪਰ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥
mas bheejat tih badan par at sundar sarabang |His mustache was sprouting on his face ('badan') and his entire body was beautiful.
ਕਨਕ ਅਵਟਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਢਰਿਯੋ ਲੂਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਅਨੰਗ ॥੫॥
kanak avatt saache dtariyo loottee prabhaa anang |5|(It appears as if) the gold has been melted and molded (it) into a coin and the beauty of Kama Dev has been robbed.5.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਸੁਘਰਿ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਤਹਾ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
sughar sahacharee tahaa patthaaee |(The queen) sent a wise woman there.
ਛਲ ਸੌ ਤਾਹਿ ਤਹਾ ਲੈ ਆਈ ॥
chhal sau taeh tahaa lai aaee |(She) brought him there by trickery.
ਜਬ ਤਿਹ ਹਾਥ ਚਲਾਯੋ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
jab tih haath chalaayo raanee |When the queen extended her hand to him,
ਹਾਜੀ ਰਾਇ ਬਾਤ ਨਹਿ ਮਾਨੀ ॥੬॥
haajee raae baat neh maanee |6|So Haji Rai did not listen (to him). 6.
ਅਬਲਾ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
abalaa kott jatan kar haaree |Abla lost after trying so hard.
ਕ੍ਯੋਹੂੰ ਨ ਭਜੀ ਤਾਹਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
kayohoon na bhajee taeh nrip naaree |But somehow he did not make love with the queen.
