ਸੁ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਤਬੈ ਰਨ ਬੀਚ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਬਰ ਕੈ ਹਨਿ ਸੈਨ ਦਯੋ ॥
su nisank tabai ran beech pariyo ar ko bar kai han sain dayo |Krishna again took his bow and arrows in his hand and destroyed the enemy’s army in the battlefield
ਧਨੁ ਸੋ ਜਿਮ ਤੂਲਿ ਧੁਨੈ ਧੁਨੀਯਾ ਦਲ ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਸਿਤ ਬਾਨਨ ਸੋ ਧੁਨਿਯੋ ॥
dhan so jim tool dhunai dhuneeyaa dal trayo sit baanan so dhuniyo |Just as the carder of cotton cards it, in the same manner Krishna carded the enemy’s army
ਬਹੁ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਬਹਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਮਨੋ ਆਠਵੋ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਭਯੋ ॥੧੦੬੩॥
bahu sraun pravaah bahiyo ran mai tih tthaa mano aatthavo sindh bhayo |1063|The stream of blood swelled in the battlefield like the eighth ocean.1063.
ਇਤ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਉਮਡੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਨਾ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਉਮਡਿਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲੈ ਬਲ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
eit te har kee umaddee pratanaa ut te umaddiyo nrip lai bal sangaa |On this side the army of Krishna marched forward and on the other side the king Jarasandh moved forward alongwith his forces
ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਲੈ ਪਾਨਿ ਭਿਰੇ ਕਟਿ ਗੇ ਭਟਿ ਅੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਤੰਗਾ ॥
baan kamaan kripaan lai paan bhire katt ge bhatt ang pratangaa |The warriors fought taking bow and arrows and swords in their hands and their limbs were being chopped
ਪਤਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਗਜਿ ਬਾਜ ਕਹੂੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਬੀਰ ਗਿਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗਾ ॥
pat gire gaj baaj kahoon kahoon beer gire tin ke kahoon angaa |Somewhere the lords of elephants and horses fell and somewhere the limbs of warriors began to fall
ਐਸੇ ਗਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਪਸਿ ਮੈ ਦਲ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਅਰੁ ਗੰਗਾ ॥੧੦੬੪॥
aaise ge mil aapas mai dal jaise mile jamunaa ar gangaa |1064|Both the armies were locked in a close combat like the merger into one by the Ganges and Yamuna.1064.
ਸ੍ਵਾਮਿ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਕਉ ਲਾਜ ਭਰੇ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਓਰਨ ਤੇ ਭਟ ਯੌ ਉਮਗੇ ਹੈ ॥
svaam ke kaaj kau laaj bhare duhoon oran te bhatt yau umage hai |In order to fulfil the task assigned to them by their masters, the warriors of both the sides are enthusiastically moving forward
ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਰਨ ਕੋਪਿ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਰਸ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਪੁਨਿ ਸੰਗ ਪਗੇ ਹੈ ॥
judh kariyo ran kop duhoon ras rudr hee ke pun sang page hai |From both the sides, the warriors dyed with ire are ferociously waging war,
ਜੂਝਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਮੁਹੇ ਲਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਕੀ ਛਿਤ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਪੈਗ ਭਗੇ ਹੈ ॥
joojh pare samuhe lar kai ran kee chhit te nahee paig bhage hai |And confronting one another are fighting unhesitatingly
ਉਜਲ ਗਾਤ ਮੈ ਸਾਗ ਲਗੀ ਮਨੋ ਚੰਦਨ ਰੂਖ ਮੈ ਨਾਗ ਲਗੇ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੬੫॥
aujal gaat mai saag lagee mano chandan rookh mai naag lage hai |1065|The spears piercing the white bodies appear like the serpents entwining the sandalwood tree.1065.
ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਰਿਸ ਆਪਸਿ ਮੈ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਓਰਨ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਊ ਟਰੇ ॥
judh kariyo ris aapas mai duhoon oran te nahee koaoo ttare |From both sides, the warriors fought bravely with great anger and none of them retraced his steps
ਬਰਛੀ ਗਹਿ ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਟਰੇ ॥
barachhee geh baan kamaan gadaa as lai kar mai ih bhaat ttare |They are fighting quite nicely with spears, bows, arrows, maces, swords etc, someone is falling down while fighting,
ਕੋਊ ਜੂਝਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਕੋਊ ਰੀਝਿ ਭਿਰੇ ਛਿਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਡਰੇ ਕੋਊ ਧਾਇ ਪਰੇ ॥
koaoo joojh gire koaoo reejh bhire chhit dekh ddare koaoo dhaae pare |Someone is getting pleased, someone seems frightened by viewing the battlefield and someone is running
ਮਨਿ ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਰਨ ਦੀਪ ਕੇ ਊਪਰ ਆਇ ਪਤੰਗ ਜਰੇ ॥੧੦੬੬॥
man yau upajee upamaa ran deep ke aoopar aae patang jare |1066|The poet says that it appears that the warriors like moths are getting burnt on the battlefield like the earthen lamp.1066.
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਭਿਰਿਯੋ ਬਰਛੀ ਬਰ ਲੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
prithame sang baan kamaan bhiriyo barachhee bar lai pun bhraat muraaree |Balram fought earlier with bow and arrows and then he began the fight, taking his spear in his hand
ਫੇਰਿ ਲਰਿਯੋ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਧਸ ਕੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੀ ਬਹੁ ਸੈਨ ਸੰਘਾਰੀ ॥
fer lariyo as lai kar mai dhas kai rip kee bahu sain sanghaaree |Then he took the sword in his hand, killed the warriors penetrating in the army,
ਫੇਰਿ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਹਤੇ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਜੁ ਹੁਤੇ ਗਹਿ ਪਾਨਿ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥
fer gadaa geh kai su hate bahuro ju hute geh paan kattaaree |Then holding his dagger, he knocked down warriors with his mace
ਐਚਤ ਯੌ ਹਲ ਸੋ ਦਲ ਕੋ ਜਿਮ ਖੈਚਤ ਦੁਇ ਕਰਿ ਝੀਵਰ ਜਾਰੀ ॥੧੦੬੭॥
aaichat yau hal so dal ko jim khaichat due kar jheevar jaaree |1067|Balram is pulling the enemy’s army with his plough like the palanquin-bearer making effort to putt the water with both the hands.1067.
ਜੋ ਭਟ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਆਇ ਅਰਿਯੋ ਬਰ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਸੋਊ ਮਾਰਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥
jo bhatt saamuhe aae ariyo bar kai har joo soaoo maar giraayo |
ਲਾਜ ਭਰੇ ਜੋਊ ਜੋਰਿ ਭਿਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
laaj bhare joaoo jor bhire tin te koaoo jeevat jaan na paayo |Any warrior who came in front of him, Krishna knocked his down he, who getting shy of his weakness, fought with great force, he also could not survive
ਪੈਠਿ ਤਬੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਨਾ ਅਰਿ ਕੀ ਮਧਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਘਨੋ ਪੁਨਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
paitth tabai pratanaa ar kee madh sayaam ghano pun judh machaayo |Penetrating into enemy’s forces, Krishna fought a violent battle
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸੁ ਧੀਰ ਗਹਿਯੋ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੋ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਦਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਭਗਾਯੋ ॥੧੦੬੮॥
sree balabeer su dheer gahiyo rip ko sab hee dal maar bhagaayo |1068|Balram also fought with endurance and knocked down the enemy’s army.1068.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਭਗੀ ਚਮੂੰ ਚਤੁਰੰਗਨੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ਨੈਨ ॥
bhagee chamoon chaturanganee nripat nihaaree nain |Jarasandh himself saw his army of four divisions running away,
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬਿਕਟਿ ਭਟ ਜੋ ਹੁਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬੋਲਿਯੋ ਬੈਨ ॥੧੦੬੯॥
nikatt bikatt bhatt jo hute tin prat boliyo bain |1069|He said to the warriors fighting near him,1069
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਬਾਚ ਸੈਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
nrip jaraasandh baach sainaa prat |Speech of the king Jarasandh addressed to the army:

ਜੁਧ ਕਰੈ ਘਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜਹਾ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਦਲੁ ਲੈ ਉਨ ਓਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੋ ॥
judh karai ghan sayaam jahaa tum hoon dal lai un or sidhaaro |
ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਦੇਹ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੋ ॥
baan kamaan kripaan gadaa kar lai jadubeer ko deh prahaaro |“The side on which Krishna is fighting, you may all go there and strike blows to him with you bows, arrows, swords and maces
ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਦਵ ਕੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਘਾਰੋ ॥
jaae na jeevat jaadav ko tin ko ran bhoom mai jaae sanghaaro |“No Yadava be allowed to escape from the battlefield
ਯੌ ਜਬ ਬੈਨ ਕਹੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੈਨ ਚਲੀ ਚਤੁਰੰਗ ਜਹਾ ਰਨ ਭਾਰੋ ॥੧੦੭੦॥
yau jab bain kahai nrip sain chalee chaturang jahaa ran bhaaro |1070|Kill all of them,” when Jarasandh said these words, then the army set itself in ranks and marched forward towards that side.1070.
ਆਇਸ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਘਨ ਜਿਉ ਉਮਡੇ ਭਟ ਓਘ ਘਟਾ ਘਟ ॥
aaeis paavat hee nrip ko ghan jiau umadde bhatt ogh ghattaa ghatt |On receiving the command of the king, the warriors marched forward like clouds
ਬਾਨਨ ਬੂੰਦਨ ਜਿਉ ਬਰਖੇ ਚਪਲਾ ਅਸਿ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਹੋਤ ਸਟਾ ਸਟ ॥
baanan boondan jiau barakhe chapalaa as kee dhun hot sattaa satt |The arrows were showered like rain-drops and the swords flashed like lighting
ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰੇ ਇਕ ਸਾਸ ਭਰੇ ਇਕ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੇ ਰਨਿ ਅੰਗ ਕਟਾ ਕਟ ॥
bhoom pare ik saas bhare ik joojh mare ran ang kattaa katt |Someone has fallen a martyr on the earth, someone is heaving a long sigh and someone’s limb has been chopped
ਘਾਇਲ ਏਕ ਪਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਮੁਖ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਰਟਾ ਰਟ ॥੧੦੭੧॥
ghaaeil ek pare ran mai mukh maar hee maar pukaar rattaa ratt |1071|Someine is lying wounded on the ground, but still he is shouting repeatedly “Kill, Kill”.1071.
ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਰਿਪੁ ਬੀਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਝਿ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
jadubeer saraasan lai kar mai rip beer jite ran maajh sanghaare |Krishna took his bow and arrows in his hand, knocked down all the warriors present in the battlefield
ਮਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਬਰ ਬਾਜ ਹਨੇ ਰਥ ਕਾਟਿ ਰਥੀ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
mat karee bar baaj hane rath kaatt rathee birathee kar ddaare |He killed the intoxicated elephants and horses and deprived many charioteers of their chariots
ਘਾਇਲ ਦੇਖ ਕੈ ਕਾਇਰ ਜੇ ਡਰੁ ਮਾਨਿ ਰਨੇ ਛਿਤਿ ਤ੍ਯਾਗਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥
ghaaeil dekh kai kaaeir je ddar maan rane chhit tayaag sidhaare |Seeing the wounded warriors, the cowards left the battlefield and ran away
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੇ ਅਗ੍ਰਜ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਪਾਪਨ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਪੁੰਜ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੧੦੭੨॥
sree har pun ke agraj maanahu paapan ke bahu punj padhaare |1072|They appeared like the collective sins running before the embodiment of virtues i.e. Krishna.1072.
ਸੀਸ ਕਟੇ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਤੇਊ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥
sees katte kitane ran mai mukh te teaoo maar hee maar pukaarai |All the heads that were chopped in the war, they are all shouting “kill, kill” from their mouths
ਦਉਰਤ ਬੀਚ ਕਬੰਧ ਫਿਰੈ ਜਹ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਲਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਓਰਿ ਪਧਾਰੈ ॥
daurat beech kabandh firai jah sayaam larai tih or padhaarai |The headless trunks are running and moving forward to that side where Krishna is fighting
ਜੋ ਭਟ ਆਇ ਭਿਰੈ ਇਨ ਸੋ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨ ਕੈ ਘਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੈ ॥
jo bhatt aae bhirai in so tin kau har jaan kai ghaae prahaarai |The warriors who are fighting with these headless trunks, these trunks, considering them as Krishna, are striking blows on them
ਜੋ ਗਿਰਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰੈ ਮਰ ਕੈ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਨ ਭੂ ਪਰ ਡਾਰੈ ॥੧੦੭੩॥
jo gir bhoom parai mar kai kar te karavaar na bhoo par ddaarai |1073|Those who are falling down on the earth, their sword is also falling down on the earth.1073.

ਕੋਪ ਅਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਤੇ ਨ ਟਰੇ ਦੋਊ ਰੀਝਿ ਰੀਝਿ ਲਰੇ ਦਲ ਦੁੰਦਭੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
kop at bhare ran bhoom te na ttare doaoo reejh reejh lare dal dundabhee bajaae kai |Both the sides are in rage, they are not retracing their steps from the battlefield and are fighting in excitement playing upon their small drums
ਦੇਵ ਦੇਖੈ ਖਰੇ ਗਨ ਜਛ ਜਸੁ ਰਰੇ ਨਭ ਤੇ ਪੁਹਪ ਢਰੇ ਮੇਘ ਬੂੰਦਨ ਜਿਉ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
dev dekhai khare gan jachh jas rare nabh te puhap dtare megh boondan jiau aae kai |The gods are seeing all th,is and the Yakshas are singing songs of praise, the flowers are being showered from the sky like raindrops
ਕੇਤੇ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਅਪਛਰਨ ਬਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਗੀਧਨਨ ਚਰੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਗਿਰੇ ਘਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
kete joojh mare kete apachharan bare kete geedhanan chare kete gire ghaae khaae kai |Many warriors are dying and many have been wedded by the heavenly damsels
