ਪਾਇ ਬ੍ਰਤੋਤਮ ਕੌ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਤਨ ਸੋਕ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਅਸੋਕੁਪਜਾਯੋ ॥
paae bratotam kau tarunee tan sok nivaar asokupajaayo |After winning over the sage the woman eradicated her tribulations.
ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਬਿਹਾਰਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਾਤ ਸੁਤਾ ਖਟ ਪੂਤੁਪਜਾਯੋ ॥
bhaat anek bihaarat sundar saat sutaa khatt pootupajaayo |By making love invariably she gave birth to seven boys and six daughters.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਦਯੇ ਬਨ ਕੋ ਬਸਿਬੋ ਪੁਰ ਭੀਤਰ ਕੋ ਬਸਿਯੋ ਮਨ ਭਾਯੋ ॥੨੦॥
tayaag daye ban ko basibo pur bheetar ko basiyo man bhaayo |20|Then she decided to abdicate the jungle-life and to come and live in the city.(20)
ਏਕ ਮਹਾ ਬਨ ਹੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਹੋ ਮੁਨਿ ਆਜੁ ਚਲੈ ਤਹ ਜਾਇ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
ek mahaa ban hai sun ho mun aaj chalai tah jaae bihaarai |‘Listen to me, my sage, there is one beautiful jungle, let us go there and make love.
ਫੂਲ ਘਨੇ ਫਲ ਰਾਜਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਫੂਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੈ ॥
fool ghane fal raajat sundar fool rahe jamunaa ke kinaarai |There are a lot of fruits and fruit trees and it is situated at the banks of River Jamuna.
ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਬਿਲੰਬ ਚਲੋ ਤਿਤ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਕਾਨਨ ਸੋ ਰਮਨੀਯ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
tayaag bilanb chalo tith ko tum kaanan so ramaneey nihaarai |Abandoning this jungle, you must go there because that is much more captivating.
ਕੇਲ ਕਰੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਪਸ ਮੈ ਦੋਊ ਕੰਦ੍ਰਪ ਕੌ ਸਭ ਦ੍ਰਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥੨੧॥
kel karai mil aapas mai doaoo kandrap kau sabh drap nivaarai |21|We will go there, make-love and rend the ego of the Cupid.(21)
ਕਾਨਨ ਜੇਤਿਕ ਥੇ ਤਿਹ ਦੇਸ ਸਭੈ ਅਥਿਤੇਸ ਕੋ ਬਾਲ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
kaanan jetik the tih des sabhai athites ko baal dikhaae |As many as there were buns in that country, that woman showed all of them to Yogi.
ਕਾਖ ਤੇ ਕੰਕਨ ਕੁੰਡਲ ਕਾਢਿ ਜਰਾਵਕਿ ਜੇਬ ਜਰੇ ਪਹਿਰਾਏ ॥
kaakh te kankan kunddal kaadt jaraavak jeb jare pahiraae |(That woman) took out bangles, coils and other ornaments from her potli and gave them (to the Yogi!).
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੌ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਨਿ ਜੋਗ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਯਾਸ ਸਭੈ ਬਿਸਰਾਏ ॥
mohi rahiyo tih kau lakh kai mun jog kai nayaas sabhai bisaraae |Seeing them, the sage was fascinated and forgot all the tricks of yoga.
ਕਾਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ ਕਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਤਾ ਕਹ ਆਪਨ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੈ ਮੁਨਿ ਆਏ ॥੨੨॥
kaahoon prabodh kiyo neh taa kah aapan hee grih mai mun aae |22|No one taught him knowledge, Muni came to his own house. 22.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਸਾਤ ਸੁਤਾ ਆਗੇ ਕਰੀ ਤੀਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਸੁਤ ਲੀਨ ॥
saat sutaa aage karee teen triyeh sut leen |She asked their seven daughters to walk ahead and picked three sons in her lap.
ਇਕ ਕਾਧੇ ਇਕ ਕਾਖ ਮੈ ਖਸਟਮ ਮੁਨਿ ਸਿਰ ਦੀਨ ॥੨੩॥
eik kaadhe ik kaakh mai khasattam mun sir deen |23|She took two sons on her own shoulders and remaining two she made the sage to pick up.(23)
ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥

ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਰਿਖਿ ਆਇ ਸੁਨੇ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
pur mai rikh aae sune jab hee |In the city, when the people heard the call of the sage
ਜਨ ਪੂਜਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਚਲੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ॥
jan poojan taeh chale sabh hee |When the people heard about the arrival of the sage, they all swarmed to worship him.
ਚਿਤ ਭਾਤਹਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨੰਦਿਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ॥
chit bhaateh bhaat anandit hvai |All are equally happy
ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਬਾਲ ਨ ਜ੍ਵਾਨ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਘਰ ਕ੍ਵੈ ॥੨੪॥
bridh baal na jvaan rahiyo ghar kvai |24|They all felt blissful and none, neither the old nor the young, remained behind.(24)
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਕੁੰਕਮ ਫੂਲ ਲੀਏ ॥
sabh hee kar kunkam fool lee |Everyone has saffron flowers in their hands
ਮੁਨਿ ਊਪਰ ਵਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਦੀਏ ॥
mun aoopar vaar kai ddaar dee |They all welcomed the sage with the flowers, and sprinkled saffron.
ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੌ ਰਿਖਿ ਯੌ ਹਰਖਿਯੋ ॥
lakh kai tin kau rikh yau harakhiyo |The sage was thus pleased to see them
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਘਨ ਸਾਵਨ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ॥੨੫॥
tab hee ghan saavan jayo barakhiyo |25|The sage was gratified, and the rain started to pour like it did in the month of Saawan.(25}
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਤਹਾ ਅਸੇਖ ਜਲ ਹਰਖੇ ਲੋਕ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
barakhiyo tahaa asekh jal harakhe lok apaar |The people felt great relief with the rain,
ਭਯੋ ਸੁਕਾਲ ਦੁਕਾਲ ਤੇ ਐਸੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੨੬॥
bhayo sukaal dukaal te aaise charit nihaar |26|And the famine was turned into the period of abundance.(26)
ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥

ਘਨ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਘਨੋ ਤਹ ਆਈ ॥
ghan jayo barakhiyo su ghano tah aaee |(There) as soon as it rained heavily (there was water everywhere).
ਪੁਨਿ ਲੋਕਨ ਕੇ ਉਪਜੀ ਦੁਚਿਤਾਈ ॥
pun lokan ke upajee duchitaaee |When it kept on raining incessantly for long time, people’s minds were filled with apprehension:
ਜਬ ਲੌ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤੇ ਰਿਖਿ ਰਾਜ ਨ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥
jab lau grih te rikh raaj na jai hai |Until the sage-kings depart from the house (of the city),
ਤਬ ਲੌ ਗਿਰਿ ਗਾਵ ਬਰਾਬਰਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
tab lau gir gaav baraabar hvai hai |27|Perhaps it would never stop as long as sage lived there and their houses might disintegrate into the ground.(27)
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਤ੍ਰਹਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
tab hee tih paatreh bol liyo |(The king) then called that woman
ਨਿਜੁ ਆਧਿਕ ਦੇਸ ਬਟਾਇ ਦਿਯੋ ॥
nij aadhik des battaae diyo |Then they called the prostitute and got halfthe sovereignty endowed to her.
ਪੁਨਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਰਿਖਿ ਕੌ ਤੁਮ ਟਾਰੋ ॥
pun taeh kahiyo rikh kau tum ttaaro |Then told him to take the sage (from here).
ਪੁਰ ਬਾਸਿਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਨਿਵਾਰੋ ॥੨੮॥
pur baasin ko sabh sok nivaaro |28|They requested her to take the sage away and eliminate the anxiety of the town’s inhabitants.(28)
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਬੈਸ ਬਿਤੀ ਬਸਿ ਬਾਮਹੁ ਕੇ ਬਿਸੁਨਾਥ ਕਹੂੰ ਹਿਯ ਮੈ ਨ ਸਰਿਯੋ ॥
bais bitee bas baamahu ke bisunaath kahoon hiy mai na sariyo |The woman, then, asked the sage, ‘You are spending your life under the directives of a female and never meditated on God
ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਬਰਰਾਤ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੇਦ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਿ ਬਿਬਾਦਿ ਬਰਿਯੋ ॥
bisanbhaar bhayo bararaat kahaa bin bed ke baad bibaad bariyo |‘Now you have become a burden on the earth as you have renounced even the oration of Vedas.
ਬਹਿ ਕੈ ਬਲੁ ਕੈ ਬਿਝੁ ਕੈ ਉਝ ਕੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਕਾਲ ਕੋ ਖ੍ਯਾਲ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਸਰਿਯੋ ॥
beh kai bal kai bijh kai ujh kai tuhi kaal ko khayaal kahaa bisariyo |‘Losing self-control you are mumbling and have abandoned the dread of Kaal, the god of death.
ਬਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਨਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਹਰੌ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਜੜ ਲਾਜਹਿ ਲਾਜ ਕੁਕਾਜ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੯॥
ban kai tan kai biharau pur mai jarr laajeh laaj kukaaj kariyo |29|‘Deserting the jungle and roaming around the town, you are dishonouring your reverence.’(29)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਐਸੋ ਮੁਨਿਜ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਿਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
bachan sunat aaiso munij man mai kiyo bichaar |When he heard such pontificating, he pondered over,
ਤੁਰਤ ਬਨਹਿ ਪੁਰਿ ਛੋਰਿ ਕੈ ਉਠਿ ਭਾਜਿਯੋ ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ ॥੩੦॥
turat baneh pur chhor kai utth bhaajiyo bisanbhaar |30|And immediately left the town and headed towards the jungle.(30)
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਆਨਿ ਕਾਢਿਯੋ ਰਿਖਹਿ ਮੇਘ ਲਯੋ ਬਰਖਾਇ ॥
pritham aan kaadtiyo rikheh megh layo barakhaae |First she brought him and got the rain to pour down,
ਅਰਧ ਰਾਜ ਤਿਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਲੀਨੌ ਆਪੁ ਬਟਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
aradh raaj tih nripat ko leenau aap battaae |31|Then made Raja to give her half the kingdom.(31)
ਸਤ ਟਾਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਮੁਨਿਜ ਕੋ ਅਰਧ ਦੇਸ ਕੌ ਪਾਇ ॥
sat ttaariyo tih munij ko aradh des kau paae |For sake of half of the domain she ravaged the veneration of the sage,
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਕਰੇ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਖ ਉਪਜਾਇ ॥੩੨॥
bhaat bhaat ke sukh kare hridai harakh upajaae |32|And being satiated, she provided him numerous exhilaration.(32)(1)
