ਮਾਨਹੁ ਲੈ ਸਿਵ ਕੇ ਰਿਪੁ ਆਪ ਦਯੋ ਬਿਧਨਾ ਰਸ ਯਾਹਿ ਨਿਚੋਹੈ ॥੩੧੭॥
maanahu lai siv ke rip aap dayo bidhanaa ras yaeh nichohai |317|It seems that the god of love has himself, rinsing the whole essence, presented it before Krishna.317.
ਗਵਾਰਿ ਕੇ ਹਾਥ ਪੈ ਹਾਥ ਧਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤਰੁ ਕੇ ਤਰਿ ਠਾਢੇ ॥
gavaar ke haath pai haath dhare har sayaam kahai tar ke tar tthaadte |Placing his hands on the hands of the gopa boys, Krishna is standing under a tree
ਪਾਟ ਕੋ ਪਾਟ ਧਰੇ ਪੀਯਰੋ ਉਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਿਸੈ ਅਤਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਾਢੇ ॥
paatt ko paatt dhare peeyaro ur dekh jisai at aanand baadte |He is wearing the yellow garments, seeing which the pleasure has increased in the mind
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਜਿਉ ਚੁਨਿ ਲੀ ਤਿਸ ਕੋ ਚੁਨਿ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
taa chhab kee at hee upamaa kab jiau chun lee tis ko chun kaadtai |The poet has described this spectacle in this way:
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਪਾਵਸ ਕੀ ਰੁਤਿ ਮੈ ਚਪਲਾ ਚਮਕੀ ਘਨ ਸਾਵਨ ਗਾਢੇ ॥੩੧੮॥
maanahu paavas kee rut mai chapalaa chamakee ghan saavan gaadte |318|It seems that the lightning is flashing from the dark clouds.318.
ਲੋਚਨ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਦਿਜ ਰੂਪ ਕੈ ਪਾਨ ਮਹਾ ਮਤ ਹੂਈ ॥
lochan kaanrah nihaar triyaa dij roop kai paan mahaa mat hooee |Seeing the eyes of Krishna, the wives of Brahmins were intoxicated with his beauty
ਹੋਇ ਗਈ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਯੌ ਉਡਗੀ ਜਿਮੁ ਪਉਨ ਸੋ ਰੂਈ ॥
hoe gee tan mai grih kee sudh yau uddagee jim paun so rooee |They forgot about their houses whose memory flew away like cotton before the wind
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਹਾਗਨਿ ਯੌ ਭਰਕੀ ਜਿਮੁ ਤੇਲ ਸੋ ਧੂਈ ॥
sayaam kahai tin ko birahaagan yau bharakee jim tel so dhooee |The fire of the separation blazed in them like the fire when the oil is poured on it
ਜਿਉ ਟੁਕਰਾ ਪਿਖਿ ਚੁੰਬਕ ਡੋਲਤ ਬੀਚ ਮਨੋ ਜਲ ਲੋਹ ਕੀ ਸੂਈ ॥੩੧੯॥
jiau ttukaraa pikh chunbak ddolat beech mano jal loh kee sooee |319|Their condition was like the iron on seeing the magnet or like the iron-needle which gets extremely desirous of meeting magnet.319
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੇ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਦਿਜ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਭਏ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah ke roop nihaar triyaa dij prem badtiyo dukh door bhe hai |Seeing the form of Sri Krishna, the love of the Brahmin women has increased and the sorrow has been removed.
ਭੀਖਮ ਮਾਤ ਕੋ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਪਰਸੇ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਲਾਇ ਗਏ ਹੈ ॥
bheekham maat ko jayo parase chhin mai sabh paap bilaae ge hai |Seeing Krishna, the suffering of the wives of Brahmis was cast away and their love was greatly increased, just as the agony of Bhishma was removed on touching the feet of his mother
ਆਨਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਘਨੋ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਬਸਿਯੋ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੂੰਦ ਲਏ ਹੈ ॥
aanan dekh ke sayaam ghano chit beech basiyo drig moond le hai |Having seen the mask like a substitute for Shyam (eyebrows), he has settled in Chit and closed his eyes,
ਜਿਉ ਧਨਵਾਨ ਮਨੋ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਧਰਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਧਾਮ ਕਿਵਾਰ ਦਏ ਹੈ ॥੩੨੦॥
jiau dhanavaan mano dhan ko dhar andar dhaam kivaar de hai |320|The women on seeing the face of Krishna, absorbed it in their mind and closed their eyes like the wealthy person closing his cash in his safe.320.
ਸੁਧਿ ਭਈ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਤਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਹਸਿ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥
sudh bhee jab hee tan mai tab kaanrah kahee has kai grih jaavahu |When (they) recovered their bodies, then Shri Krishna laughed (to them) and said (that now you) return home.
ਬਿਪਨ ਬੀਚ ਕਹੈ ਰਹੀਯੋ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨ ਸਭੇ ਹਮਰੈ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥
bipan beech kahai raheeyo din rain sabhe hamarai gun gaavahu |When those women regained some of their consciousness, then Krishna smilingly said to them, “Now you return to your homes, live with the Brahmins and remember me day and night
ਹੋਇ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤੁਮੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਧਿਆਨ ਲਗਾਵਹੁ ॥
hoe na traas tumai jam kee hit kai ham so ju dhiaan lagaavahu |When you lovingly keep my attention (then) you will not be haunted by the fear of Yama.
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਬਾਤ ਕਰੋ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੩੨੧॥
jo tum baat karo ih hee tab hee sab hee mukataa fal paavahu |321|When you will remember me, you will not fear Yama (death) and in this way, you will attain salvation.321.
ਦਿਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯੋ ਬਾਚ ॥
dijan triyo baach |Speech of the wives of Brahmins:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਪਤਨੀ ਦਿਜ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਹਮ ਸੰਗ ਨ ਛਾਡਤ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਤੁਮਾਰੋ ॥
patanee dij kee ih baat kahee ham sang na chhaaddat kaanrah tumaaro |The wives of the Brahmins said that O Krishna! We will not leave you.
ਸੰਗ ਫਿਰੈ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨਿ ਚਲੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੌ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਜੋਊ ਸਿਧਾਰੋ ॥
sang firai tumare din rain chalai brij kau brij joaoo sidhaaro |“We are the wives of Brahmins, but O Krishna! we will not abandon you, we shall stay with you day and night and if you go to Braja, then we all shall accompany you there
ਲਾਗ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਮਨ ਜਾਤ ਨਹੀ ਮਨ ਧਾਮ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
laag rahiyo tum so hamaro man jaat nahee man dhaam hamaaro |Our mind has merged in you and there is no desire now of returning home
ਪੂਰਨ ਜੋਗ ਕੋ ਪਾਇ ਜੁਗੀਸ੍ਵਰ ਆਨਤ ਨ ਧਨ ਬੀਚ ਸੰਭਾਰੋ ॥੩੨੨॥
pooran jog ko paae jugeesvar aanat na dhan beech sanbhaaro |322|He, who becomes a Yogi completely and leaves his home, he does not take care of his home and wealth again.322.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਤਿਨੈ ਪਿਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਧਾਮਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੋ ॥
sree bhagavaan tinai pikh prem kahiyo mukh te tum dhaam sidhaaro |Seeing their love, Sri Bhagavan (Krishna) said from (his) face that you should go to (your) homes.
ਜਾਇ ਸਭੈ ਪਤਿ ਆਪਨ ਆਪਨ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥
jaae sabhai pat aapan aapan kaanrah kathaa keh taeh udhaaro |Seeing them with affection, Krishna asked them to go home and also told them to redeem their husbands by relating to them the story of Krishna
ਪੁਤ੍ਰਨ ਪਉਤ੍ਰਨ ਪਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਕੈ ਚਰਚਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਟਾਰੋ ॥
putran pautran patin so ih kai charachaa sabh hee dukh ttaaro |By discussing this with (your) sons, grandsons and husbands, relieve everyone's sorrow
ਗੰਧ ਮਲਿਯਾਗਰ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਰੂਖਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਚੰਦਨ ਡਾਰੋ ॥੩੨੩॥
gandh maliyaagar sayaam ko naam lai rookhan ko kar chandan ddaaro |323|He asked them to remove the sufferings of sons, grandsons and husbands with this discussion and repeating the name ‘Krishna’, the giver of the fragrance of sandalwood, fill the other trees with this fragrance.323.
ਮਾਨ ਲਈ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਿਜ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਬਤੀਆ ॥
maan lee patanee dij kee sam amrit kaanrah kahee bateea |Brahmin women accepted what Sri Krishna said as nectar.
ਜਿਤਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਯਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਤਨੋ ਨਹਿ ਹੋਤ ਕਛੂ ਜਤੀਆ ॥
jitano har yaa upades kariyo titano neh hot kachhoo jateea |Listening to the ambrosial words of Krishna, the wives of Brahmins agreed and the instructions given by Krishna to them cannot be given in the same volume by any celibate
ਚਰਚਾ ਜਬ ਜਾ ਉਨ ਸੋ ਇਨ ਕੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਉਨ ਕੀ ਭਈ ਯਾ ਗਤੀਆ ॥
charachaa jab jaa un so in kee tab hee un kee bhee yaa gateea |When these (women) discussed with them (Brahmins), they became in this condition
ਇਨ ਸ੍ਰਯਾਹ ਭਏ ਮੁਖ ਯੌ ਜੁਵਤੀ ਮੁਖ ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਵਹ ਜਿਉ ਰਤੀਆ ॥੩੨੪॥
ein srayaah bhe mukh yau juvatee mukh laal bhe vah jiau rateea |324|When they discussed bout Krishna with their husbands, it led to this situation that their faces turned black and the faces of these ladies became red with the essence of love.324.
ਚਰਚਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਿਪ ਜੁ ਤ੍ਰੀਅਨ ਸੋ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
charachaa sun bip ju treean so mil kai sabh hee pachhutaavan laage |After hearing the discussion about (Sri Krishna) from the women, all the (Brahmins) began to do penance.
ਬੇਦਨ ਕੌ ਹਮ ਕੌ ਸਭ ਕੌ ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਗੋਪ ਗਏ ਮੰਗ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਆਗੈ ॥
bedan kau ham kau sabh kau dhrig gop ge mang kai ham aagai |All the Brahmins repented on listening to the discussion of their wives and said, “We alongwith the knowledge of our Vedas be cursed that the gopas came to beg from us and went away
ਮਾਨ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਬੂਡੇ ਹੁਤੇ ਹਮ ਚੂਕ ਗਯੋ ਅਉਸਰ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
maan samundr mai boodde hute ham chook gayo aausar tau ham jaage |We remained immersed in the sea of pride and awoke only on losing the opportunity
ਪੈ ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਪਤਨੀ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਬਡਭਾਗੇ ॥੩੨੫॥
pai jin kee ih hai patanee tih te fun hai ham hoon baddabhaage |325|Now we are fortunate only that our women dyed in the love of Krishna are our wives.”325.
ਮਾਨਿ ਸਭੈ ਦਿਜ ਆਪਨ ਕੋ ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਫੇਰਿ ਕਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
maan sabhai dij aapan ko dhrig fer karee mil kaanrah baddaaee |All the Brahmins considered themselves to be Dhrigas and then together they started glorifying Krishna.
ਲੋਕਨ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਹਮੈ ਕਹਿ ਬੇਦਨ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
lokan ko sabh ke pat kaanrah hamai keh bedan baat sunaaee |The Brahmins cursing themselves eulogised Krishna and said, “TheVedas tell us that Krishna is the Lord of all the worlds
ਤੌ ਨ ਗਏ ਉਨ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਪਾਸਿ ਡਰੇ ਜੁ ਮਰੇ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਹਮ ਰਾਈ ॥
tau na ge un ke ham paas ddare ju mare ham kau ham raaee |Even (knowing this) we did not go to them because we were afraid that our king (Kans) would kill us.
ਸਤਿ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਕਉ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕਹੀ ਹਮ ਸਤ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਬਨਾਈ ॥੩੨੬॥
sat lakhiyo tum kau bhagavaan kahee ham sat kahee na banaaee |326|We did not go to him out of the fear of Kansa, who may kill us, but O women! you have recognized that Lord in His Real Form.”326.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥

ਪੂਤਨਾ ਸੰਘਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਣਾਵ੍ਰਤ ਕੀ ਬਿਦਾਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਦੈਤ ਅਘਾਸੁਰ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਸਿਰੀ ਜਾਹਿ ਫਾਰੀ ਹੈ ॥
pootanaa sanghaaree trinaavrat kee bidaaree deh dait aghaasur hoon kee siree jaeh faaree hai |He who killed Putana, destroyed the body of the giant Trinavrata, tore off the head of Aghasura;
ਸਿਲਾ ਜਾਹਿ ਤਾਰੀ ਬਕ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਚੋਚ ਚੀਰ ਡਾਰੀ ਐਸੇ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਾਰੀ ਜੈਸੇ ਆਰੀ ਚੀਰ ਡਾਰੀ ਹੈ ॥
silaa jaeh taaree bak hoon kee choch cheer ddaaree aaise bhoom paaree jaise aaree cheer ddaaree hai |Krishna, who killed Putana, who destroyed the body of Tranavrata who shattered the head of Aghasura, who redeemed Ahalya in the form o Ram and ripped the beak of Bakasura as if it was cleaved by a saw
ਰਾਮ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਦੈਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਜਿਨ ਮਾਰੀ ਅਰੁ ਆਪਨੋ ਬਿਭੀਛਨ ਕੋ ਦੀਨੀ ਲੰਕਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੈ ॥
raam hvai kai daitan kee sainaa jin maaree ar aapano bibheechhan ko deenee lankaa saaree hai |Who had taken the form of Rama and killed the army of demons and gave all of Lanka to Vibhishana.
ਐਸੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਦਿਜਨ ਕੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਉਧਾਰੀ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਜੈਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਉਧਾਰੀ ਹੈ ॥੩੨੭॥
aaisee bhaat dijan kee patanee udhaaree avataar lai ke saadh jaise prithamee udhaaree hai |327|He, who as Ram destroyed the army of demons and himself donated the complete kingdom of Lanka to Vibhishana, the same Krishna incarnating and redeeming the earth, also redeemed the wives of Brahmins.327.
