ਬਾਧਿ ਰਸਨ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਇਕ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
baadh rasan taa so ik liyo |A rope was tied to him.
ਤਾਹਿ ਚਰਾਇ ਦਿਵਾਰਹਿ ਦਿਯੋ ॥੪॥
taeh charaae divaareh diyo |4|She tied him and asked him to jump over the wall.(4)

ਤਾ ਸੋ ਰਸਨ ਬਨ੍ਰਹਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਾਰਹਿ ਦਯੋ ਲੰਘਾਇ ॥
taa so rasan banrahaae kai jaareh dayo langhaae |By tying him with the rope she helped the friend to escape,

ਭਸਮਾਗਦ ਦਾਨੋ ਬਡੋ ਭੀਮ ਪੁਰੀ ਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
bhasamaagad daano baddo bheem puree ke maeh |In the city ofBhim Puree, a devil named Bhasmangad used to live,
ਤਾਹਿ ਬਰਾਬਰਿ ਭਾਸਕਰਿ ਜੁਧ ਸਮੈ ਮੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
taeh baraabar bhaasakar judh samai mo naeh |1|In fighting, there was none comparable to him.(1)

ਤਿਨ ਬਹੁ ਬੈਠਿ ਤਪਸ੍ਯਾ ਕਿਯੋ ॥

ਯੌ ਬਰਦਾਨ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
yau baradaan rudr te liyo |He meditated for a long time and attained a boon from Shiva.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਪਰ ਹਾਥ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥
jaa ke sir par haath lagaavai |(He) on whose head he lays his hand,
ਜਰਿ ਬਰਿ ਭਸਮ ਸੁ ਨਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
jar bar bhasam su nar ho jaavai |2|Any body, on whose head he placed his hand, he would be reduced to ashes.(2)
ਤਿਨ ਗੌਰੀ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tin gauaree ko roop nihaariyo |He saw the form of Gauri (Shiva's wife).
ਯਹੈ ਆਪਨੇ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
yahai aapane hridai bichaariyo |When he saw Paarbati (wife of Shiva), he thought to himself,
ਸਿਵ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਹਾਥ ਮੈ ਧਰਿਹੋ ॥
siv ke sees haath mai dhariho |I will place my hands on Shiva's head
ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਯਾਹਿ ਭਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਡਰਿਹੋ ॥੩॥
chhin mai yaeh bhasam kar ddariho |3|‘I will put my hand on the head of Shiva and perish him in the twinkling of eye.’(3)
ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਇਹੈ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
chit mai ihai chint kar dhaayo |He walked with this thought in Chit
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਬਧ ਹਿਤ ਆਯੋ ॥
mahaa rudr ke badh hit aayo |With this in mind he came to kill Shiva.
ਮਹਾ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਜਬ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
mahaa rudr jab nain nihaariyo |When Maha Rudra saw with Naina
ਨਿਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੪॥
nij triy ko lai sang sidhaariyo |4|When Shiva saw him, he, along with his wife, ran away.(4)
ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਭਜਤ ਦਾਨੋ ਹੂੰ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
rudr bhajat daano hoon dhaayo |Seeing Rudra running away, the demon also ran (back).
ਦਛਿਨ ਪੂਰਬ ਸਿਵਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਯੋ ॥
dachhin poorab siveh bhramaayo |Seeing Shiva running away, the devils gave him a chase.
ਪੁਨਿ ਪਛਿਮ ਕੋ ਹਰ ਜੂ ਧਯੋ ॥
pun pachhim ko har joo dhayo |Then Shiva went to the west.
ਪਾਛੇ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੋ ਗਯੋ ॥੫॥
paachhe lagiyo taeh so gayo |5|Shiva headed towards east and the devil followed too.(5)

ਤੀਨਿ ਦਿਸਨ ਮੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਠੌਰ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ਕੋਇ ॥
teen disan mai bhram rahiyo tthauar na paayo koe |He kept roaming in three directions, but found no place to rest.
ਉਤਰ ਦਿਸਿ ਕੋ ਪੁਨਿ ਭਜਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥
autar dis ko pun bhajiyo har joo karai su hoe |6|Then, relying on the will of God, he ran towards North.(6)

ਜਬ ਉਤਰ ਕੋ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
jab utar ko rudr sidhaayo |When Rudra went north.
ਭਸਮਾਗਦ ਪਾਛੇ ਤਿਹ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
bhasamaagad paachhe tih dhaayo |When Shiva headed for North, Bhasmangad followed too, thinking,
ਯਾ ਕੋ ਭਸਮ ਅਬੈ ਕਰਿ ਦੈਹੋ ॥
yaa ko bhasam abai kar daiho |(He began to say) I will consume it now
ਛੀਨਿ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੈਹੋ ॥੭॥
chheen paarabatee ko triy kaiho |7|‘I will reduce him to ashes and take Paarbati away.’(7)

ਸਭ ਝੂਠਾ ਸੋ ਜਾਨਿਯੈ ਲੀਨ ਅਬੈ ਪਤਿਯਾਇ ॥੮॥
sabh jhootthaa so jaaniyai leen abai patiyaae |8|‘It is all a lie, you can test it.(8)

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਹਾਥ ਨਿਜੁ ਸਿਰ ਪਰ ਧਰੋ ॥
pratham haath nij sir par dharo |First put your hands on your head.
ਲਹਿਹੋ ਏਕ ਕੇਸ ਜਬ ਜਰੋ ॥
lahiho ek kes jab jaro |‘Initially try to put your hand on your head, if a couple of hair are burnt,
ਤਬ ਸਿਰ ਕਰ ਸਿਵ ਜੂ ਕੇ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥
tab sir kar siv joo ke dhariyo |Then place your hand on Shiva's head
ਮੋ ਕੋ ਨਿਜੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਲੈ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੯॥
mo ko nij naaree lai kariyo |9|‘Then you put your hand on the head of Shiva and win me over.’(9)
ਯੌ ਬਚ ਦੈਤ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਜਬ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥
yau bach dait sravan jab kariyo |When the demon heard this (then)
ਹਾਥ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਪਰ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥
haath apane sir par dhariyo |When the devil heard this through his ears, he put his hand on his head.
ਛਿਨਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਜਰਿ ਗਯੋ ॥
chhinak bikhai moorakh jar gayo |The fool burned in the shard
ਸਿਵ ਕੋ ਸੋਕ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰ ਦਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
