(He) wears beautiful red armor
On the route, the Raja was to come back, she had erected a death-pyre,
(He) robbed all the money he had
And she had gone there with new red clothes on to become a Sati(14)
The path on which the king had to come,
(to immolate herself in case Raja was dead).
By then the king came there
When Raja passed that way, he observed the Sati.(15)
The king smiled and looked at him
And called the servant and said
That you go and find out
Who has come to be Sati. 16.
Dohira
On Raja’s order his emissary approached the place,
And brought the news of the secret desire of the Sati.(17)
Chaupaee
The king was pleased to hear her (woman's) words
Hearing this Raja was delighted and praised her vehemently,
I have no love for it,
‘I did not love her at all but she was going to sacrifice herself for me.(18)
I am sorry that I did not understand this secret
‘I should be ashamed of myselfthat I did not acquiesce the secret.
The women with whom (I) made love,
‘Not even from the women I loved, came to wish me success.(19)
So I will marry it now
‘Now, I will marry her immediately and spend whole life wit her.
(Now I) rescue it from the fire.
‘I will save her from immolating in the fire, rather she is already burnt in fire of love for me.’(20)
The fire that was lit by that Sati,
The pyre the Sati had built, he thought it to be the pyre of separation.
He turned around his intentions
He circumambulated three times through all the four corners and honoured her as his Rani.(21)
By doing this character, he got the king.
After observing this incident, he relinquished all the other Ranis. And
(He made the king) subject to his command
new Rani took control over Raja as if she had bought him.(22)
Dohira
From that day on, Raja’s love was enhanced towards her.
Raja eradicated from his heart the love for all other Ranis.(23)(1)

There was a great king named Durjan Singh.
Durjan Singh was a great king; he was revered in all four directions.
Seeing his form (everyone) used to be frightened
His handsomeness was admired by every body and his subject was very blissful.(1)

Who-so-ever came to his country, watched his magnanimity,
He would forget all his own home and wealth, and remain as his (the raja’s) menial.(2)
