ਰੁਆਮਲ ਛੰਦ ॥

RUAAMAL STANZA

ਘਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਭਜੇ ਸੁਰਾਰਦਨ ਕੋਪੁ ਓਪ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥
ghaae khaae bhaje suraaradan kop op mittaae |

ਅੰਧਿ ਕੰਧਿ ਫਿਰਿਯੋ ਤਬੈ ਜਯ ਦੁੰਦਭੀਨ ਬਜਾਇ ॥
andh kandh firiyo tabai jay dundabheen bajaae |

The demons being wounded and becoming weak began to run away and at that time, Andhakasura, resounding his drums turned and moved towards the battlefield.

ਸੂਲ ਸੈਹਥਿ ਪਰਿਘ ਪਟਸਿ ਬਾਣ ਓਘ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ॥
sool saihath parigh pattas baan ogh prahaar |

The blows were struck with tridents, swords, arrows and other weapons and arms and the warriors swung and fell

ਪੇਲਿ ਪੇਲਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਸੁ ਬੀਰਨ ਖੇਲ ਜਾਨੁ ਧਮਾਰ ॥੧੭॥
pel pel gire su beeran khel jaan dhamaar |17|

It seemed that there was a programme of dance and amorous pastime.17.

ਸੇਲ ਰੇਲ ਭਈ ਤਹਾ ਅਰੁ ਤੇਗ ਤੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ॥
sel rel bhee tahaa ar teg teer prahaar |

ਗਾਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਫਵਜਨ ਬਾਹਿ ਬਾਹਿ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ॥
gaeh gaeh fire favajan baeh baeh hathiyaar |

With the blows of swords and arrows, there was consternation in the battlefield and striking their weapons, the warriors were stirring up the armies.

ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗ ਪਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਸਰਬੰਗ ਸ੍ਰੋਨਤ ਪੂਰ ॥
ang bhang pare kahoon sarabang sronat poor |

Somewhere the limbless fighters and somewhere the complete bodies are immersed in blood

ਏਕ ਏਕ ਬਰੀ ਅਨੇਕਨ ਹੇਰਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਸੁ ਹੂਰ ॥੧੮॥
ek ek baree anekan her her su hoor |18|

The warriors who had attained martyrdom, are wedding the heavenly damsels, after making search for them.18.

ਚਉਰ ਚੀਰ ਰਥੀ ਰਥੋਤਮ ਬਾਜ ਰਾਜ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
chaur cheer rathee rathotam baaj raaj anant |

ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਕੀ ਸਰਤਾ ਉਠੀ ਸੁ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਰੂਪ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥
sron kee sarataa utthee su biant roop durant |

The garments, chariots, the chariot-riders and many horses are lying hither and thither and a dreadful stream of blood is flowing in the battlefield.

ਸਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਕਟੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਤਾਜ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
saaj baaj katte kahoon gaj raaj taaj anek |

Somewhere the bedecked horses and elephants are lying chopped and

ਉਸਟਿ ਪੁਸਟਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਿਪੁ ਬਾਚੀਯੰ ਨਹੀ ਏਕੁ ॥੧੯॥
ausatt pusatt gire kahoon rip baacheeyan nahee ek |19|

Somewhere there are heaps of warriors lying down not a single enemy hath remained alive.19.

ਛਾਡਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਚਲੇ ਤਹਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
chhaadd chhaadd chale tahaa nrip saaj baaj anant |

ਗਾਜ ਗਾਜ ਹਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਵ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥
gaaj gaaj hane sadaa siv soorabeer durant |

The kings have abandoned their bedecked horses and elephants and gone away and the god Shiva, shouting very loudly, hath destroyed the mighty warriors.

ਭਾਜ ਭਾਜ ਚਲੇ ਹਠੀ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ॥
bhaaj bhaaj chale hatthee hathiaar haath bisaar |

ਬਾਣ ਪਾਣ ਕਮਾਣ ਛਾਡਿ ਸੁ ਚਰਮ ਬਰਮ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ॥੨੦॥
baan paan kamaan chhaadd su charam baram bisaar |20|

The brave fighters have also abandoned their weapons and gone away, after leaving behind their bows and arrows and steel-armors.20.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥
naraaj chhand |

ਜਿਤੇ ਕੁ ਸੂਰ ਧਾਈਯੰ ॥
jite ku soor dhaaeeyan |

ਤਿਤੇਕੁ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਘਾਈਯੰ ॥
titek rudr ghaaeeyan |

ਜਿਤੇ ਕੁ ਅਉਰ ਧਾਵਹੀ ॥
jite ku aaur dhaavahee |

ਤਿਤਿਯੋ ਮਹੇਸ ਘਾਵਹੀ ॥੨੧॥
titiyo mahes ghaavahee |21|

All the warriors who go in front of him, Rudra destroys them all, those who will advance, will also be destroyed by Shiva.21.

ਕਬੰਧ ਅੰਧ ਉਠਹੀ ॥
kabandh andh utthahee |

ਬਸੇਖ ਬਾਣ ਬੁਠਹੀ ॥
basekh baan butthahee |

The blind (headless) trunks are rising in the battlefield and casting special showers of arrows.

ਪਿਨਾਕ ਪਾਣਿ ਤੇ ਹਣੇ ॥
pinaak paan te hane |

ਅਨੰਤ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਬਣੇ ॥੨੨॥
anant sooramaa bane |22|

Innumerable warriors, shooting arrows from their bows are exhibiting proof of their bravery.22.

RASAAVAL STANZA

ਸਿਲਹ ਸੰਜਿ ਸਜੇ ॥
silah sanj saje |

ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰਿ ਗਜੇ ॥
chahoon or gaje |

Bedecked with the steel-armour, the warriors are thundering on all the four sides.

ਮਹਾ ਬੀਰ ਬੰਕੇ ॥
mahaa beer banke |

ਮਿਟੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਡੰਕੇ ॥੨੩॥
mittai naeh ddanke |23|

The wanton mighty heroes are irresistible.23.

ਬਜੇ ਘੋਰਿ ਬਾਜੰ ॥
baje ghor baajan |

ਸਜੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਾਜੰ ॥
saje soor saajan |

The horrible sound of musical instruments is being heard and the bedecked warriors are being seen.

ਘਣੰ ਜੇਮ ਗਜੇ ॥
ghanan jem gaje |

ਮਹਿਖੁਆਸ ਸਜੇ ॥੨੪॥
mahikhuaas saje |24|

The bows are crackling like the thundering of the clouds.24.

ਮਹਿਖੁਆਸ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
mahikhuaas dhaaree |

ਚਲੇ ਬਿਯੋਮਚਾਰੀ ॥
chale biyomachaaree |

The gods, holding their bows, are also moving,

ਸੁਭੰ ਸੂਰ ਹਰਖੇ ॥
subhan soor harakhe |

ਸਰੰ ਧਾਰ ਬਰਖੇ ॥੨੫॥
saran dhaar barakhe |25|

And all the brave fighters, being pleased, are showering their arrows.25.

ਧਰੇ ਬਾਣ ਪਾਣੰ ॥
dhare baan paanan |

ਚੜੇ ਤੇਜ ਮਾਣੰ ॥
charre tej maanan |

Holding their bows in their hands, excessively glorious and proud warriors have marched forward,

ਕਟਾ ਕਟਿ ਬਾਹੈ ॥
kattaa katt baahai |

ਅਧੋ ਅੰਗ ਲਾਹੈ ॥੨੬॥
adho ang laahai |26|

And with the clattering of their weapons, the bodies of the enemies are being chopped into two parts.26.

ਰਿਸੇ ਰੋਸਿ ਰੁਦ੍ਰੰ ॥
rise ros rudran |

ਚਲੈ ਭਾਜ ਛੁਦ੍ਰੰ ॥
chalai bhaaj chhudran |

Seeing the fury of Rudra, the weak demons are running away.

ਮਹਾ ਬੀਰ ਗਜੇ ॥
mahaa beer gaje |

ਸਿਲਹ ਸੰਜਿ ਸਜੇ ॥੨੭॥
silah sanj saje |27|

Bedecked with their armour, they mighty warriors are thundering.27.

ਲਏ ਸਕਤਿ ਪਾਣੰ ॥
le sakat paanan |
