ਆਠ ਟੂਕ ਵਾ ਪਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ॥੩॥

And it fell into eight pieces. 3.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਲਗਨ ਨਿਗੋਡੀ ਲਗਿ ਗਈ ਛੁਟਿਤ ਛੁਟਾਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
lagan nigoddee lag gee chhuttit chhuttaaee naeh |

Bad love (once) got, (it can't be left again).

ਮਤ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਦ ਪੀਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
mat bhee man mad peea mohi rahee man maeh |4|

She became intoxicated as if she had drunk alcohol and was enthralled in her mind. 4.

ਏਕ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਤਹਾ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
ek sahacharee tahaa patthaaee |

(He) sent a maidservant there

ਚਿਤ ਜੁ ਹੁਤੀ ਕਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
chit ju hutee keh taeh sunaaee |

And told him what was in his mind.

ਸੋ ਚਲਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਜਨ ਪਹਿ ਗਈ ॥
so chal sakhee sajan peh gee |

She walked and reached her friend

ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧਤ ਭਈ ॥੫॥
bahu bidh taeh prabodhat bhee |5|

And began to explain to him in many ways. 5.

ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਤਬੈ ਛਬੀਲੋ ਛੈਲ ਤਹਾ ਚਲਿ ਆਇਯੋ ॥
tabai chhabeelo chhail tahaa chal aaeiyo |

Then that handsome (Chabeel Das) young man went there.

ਰਮਿਯੋ ਤਰੁਨ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਯੋ ॥
ramiyo tarun bahu bhaat kuar sukh paaeiyo |

By consorting with (that) youth in many ways, Raj Kumari attained great happiness.

ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਤਰ ਜਾਇ ਪਿਯਰਵਹਿ ਭੁਜਨ ਭਰਿ ॥
lapatt lapatt tar jaae piyaraveh bhujan bhar |

She was hugging Pritam in her arms (and Chabeel Das too).

ਹੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਆਸਨ ਦੈ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਜਾਤਿ ਟਰਿ ॥੬॥
ho drirr aasan dai rahiyo na it ut jaat ttar |6|

He was firmly seated and did not allow him to move here and there. 6.

ਏਕ ਸੁਘਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਏ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮੀਤ ॥
ek sughar dooje tarun tritee sundar meet |

(His) companion was one handsome, the other young and the third handsome.

ਬਸਿਯੋ ਰਹਤ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਸਦਾ ਪਲ ਪਲ ਚਿਤ ਜਿਮਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੭॥
basiyo rahat nis din sadaa pal pal chit jim cheet |7|

He always lived in his mind day and night. 7.

ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਮਿਤਿ ਇਮਿ ਬਚਨ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥
eik din mit im bachan bakhaanaa |

One day a friend said thus,

ਤਵ ਪਿਤ ਕੇ ਹੌ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤ੍ਰਸਾਨਾ ॥
tav pit ke hau traas trasaanaa |

(I) am very afraid of your father.

ਜੌ ਤੁਹਿ ਭਜਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
jau tuhi bhajat nripat muhi paavai |

If the king saw me in association with you

ਪਕਰਿ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਪਠਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
pakar kaal ke dhaam patthaavai |8|

Then he will catch it and send it to Yamlok. 8.

ਬਿਹਸਿ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਅਸ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥
bihas kuar as taeh bakhaanaa |

Raj Kumari laughed and said,

ਤੈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
tai isatrin ke charit na jaanaa |

You do not know the character of women.

ਪੁਰਖ ਭੇਖ ਤੁਹਿ ਸੇਜ ਬੁਲਾਊ ॥
purakh bhekh tuhi sej bulaaoo |

I will call you to the sage in male guise,

ਤੌ ਮੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਯਾਰ ਕਹਾਊ ॥੯॥
tau mai tumaree yaar kahaaoo |9|

Only then I will call you friend. 9.

ਰੋਮਨਾਸਨੀ ਤਾਹਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
romanaasanee taeh lagaaee |

He (the man) was put on the Rome-destroying (oil).

ਸਕਲ ਸਮਸ ਤਿਹ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥
sakal samas tih door karaaee |

And cleansed his beard and moustache.

ਕਰ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੰਬੂਰਾ ਦੀਯਾ ॥
kar meh taeh tanbooraa deeyaa |

In his hand, you gave him

ਗਾਇਨ ਭੇਸ ਸਜਨ ਕੋ ਕੀਯਾ ॥੧੦॥
gaaein bhes sajan ko keeyaa |10|

And made Mitra's (one) guvain form. 10.

ਪਿਤਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਤਿਹ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
pit baitthe tih bol patthaayo |

(Then called him there) where the father was sitting.

ਭਲੇ ਭਲੇ ਗੀਤਾਨ ਗਵਾਯੋ ॥
bhale bhale geetaan gavaayo |

Lost good good songs from (That Gawain).

ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਦ ਰੀਝਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥
sun sun naad reejh nrip rahiyo |

The king was very pleased to hear his music

ਭਲੀ ਭਲੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਇਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥੧੧॥
bhalee bhalee gaaein ih kahiyo |11|

And called that Gawain 'good good'. 11.

ਸੰਕਰ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
sankar de ih bhaat uchaaree |

Sankar Dei said thus,

ਸੁਨ ਗਾਇਨ ਤੈ ਬਾਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
sun gaaein tai baat hamaaree |

Gawain! You listen to my (one) word.

ਪੁਰਖ ਭੇਸ ਧਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਨਿਤਿ ਐਯਹੁ ॥
purakh bhes dhar tum nit aaiyahu |

You come here every day disguised as a man

ਇਹ ਠਾ ਗੀਤਿ ਮਧੁਰਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਗੈਯਹੁ ॥੧੨॥
eih tthaa geet madhur dhun gaiyahu |12|

And here sing songs with sweet melody. 12.

ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਭੇਸ ਤਿਨ ਧਰਾ ॥
yau sun purakh bhes tin dharaa |

Hearing this, he disguised himself as a man.

ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀ ਦਿਸਾ ਚਾਦ ਜਨ ਚਰਾ ॥
praachee disaa chaad jan charaa |

(It looked like this) as if the moon had risen in the east.

ਸਕਲ ਲੋਗ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
sakal log isatree tih jaanai |

All people considered her a woman,

ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਮੂੜ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥੧੩॥
triyaa charitr na moorr pachhaanai |13|

But stupid women did not understand the character. 13.

ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੌ ਭੇਸ ਧਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਆਵਈ ॥
mitr purakh kau bhes dhare nit aavee |

(He) used to come disguised as a friend

ਆਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸੌ ਕਾਮ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਮਾਵਈ ॥
aan kuar sau kaam kalol kamaavee |

And used to come and play with Raj Kumari.

ਕੋਊ ਨ ਤਾ ਕਹ ਰੋਕਤ ਗਾਇਨ ਜਾਨਿ ਕੈ ॥
koaoo na taa kah rokat gaaein jaan kai |

No one would have stopped him, mistaking him for a Gawain.

ਹੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਹ ਮੂੜ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਪਛਾਨਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੪॥
ho triy charitr kah moorr na sakeh pachhaan kai |14|

(Nobody) understood the character of a foolish woman. 14.
