ਰੂਪ ਉਹੀ ਪਟ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਹੈ ਵਹ ਰੰਗ ਵਹੈ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਬਛਰਾ ਕੋ ॥
roop uhee patt ke rang hai vah rang vahai sab hee bachharaa ko |The same forms the same garments and exactly the same colour of the calves,
ਸਾਝਿ ਪਰੀ ਸੋ ਗਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਲਖੈ ਇਤਨੋ ਬਲ ਕਾ ਕੋ ॥
saajh paree so ge har jee greh koee lakhai itano bal kaa ko |When evening fell, Krishna returned to his home who is there to adjudge his power?
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁ ਲਖੇ ਨ ਲਖੇ ਇਕ ਆਦਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨੀ ਮਨ ਜਾ ਕੋ ॥
maat pitaa su lakhe na lakhe ik aad ko naam manee man jaa ko |Brahma thought that the parents would, seeing all this,
ਬਾਤ ਇਹੀ ਸਮਝੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਅਬ ਖੇਲ ਸਮਾਪਤਿ ਵਾ ਕੋ ॥੧੭੯॥
baat ihee samajhee man mai ih hai ab khel samaapat vaa ko |179|Understand the whole thing and the game of Krishna would now be finished.179.
ਚੂਮ ਲਯੋ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਸੁਤ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਜਾਇ ਉਠੇ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਤੋ ॥
choom layo jasudaa sut ko sir kaanrah bajaae utthe muralee to |When Krishna played on his flute, Yashoda kissed his head and
ਬਾਲ ਲਖੇ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਨ ਕਿਨੀ ਜਨ ਗੋ ਦਵਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਸੋ ਹਿਤ ਕੀਤੋ ॥
baal lakhe apuno na kinee jan go davaree tih so hit keeto |None other paid attention to his boy they all loved Krishna
ਹੋਤ ਕੁਲਾਹਲ ਪੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਮੈ ਨਹਿ ਹੋਤ ਇਤੇ ਸੁ ਕਹੂੰ ਕਿਮ ਬੀਤੋ ॥
hot kulaahal pai brij mai neh hot ite su kahoon kim beeto |Whatever tumult is there in Braja, such a tumult is not there at any other place it is not being known how the time is passing
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਸਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨ ਲੇਹ ਬਲਾਇ ਬਧੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੀਤੋ ॥੧੮੦॥
gaavat geet sane har gvaaran leh balaae badh brij keeto |180|Krishna began to sing songs with gopis alongwith the newly married women.180.
ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਬਨ ਬੀਚ ਗਏ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਬਛੇ ॥
praat bhe har jee utth kai ban beech ge sang lai kar bachhe |When the day dawned, Krishna again went to the forest taking the calves with him
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਫਿਰਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਛਟਕਾ ਗਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ਸਭੈ ਕਰਿ ਹਛੇ ॥
gaavat geet firaavat hai chhattakaa geh gavaar sabhai kar hachhe |He saw there all the gopa boys singing songs and twirling their clubs
ਖੇਲਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਨੰਦ ਕੋ ਨੰਦ ਸੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਗਿਰਿ ਕੋ ਉਠਿ ਗਛੇ ॥
khelat khelat nand ko nand su aap hee te gir ko utth gachhe |Continuing the play, Krishna went towards the mountain
ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਖੇਦ ਗਹੈ ਹਮ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਨਾਹਨਿ ਨਛੇ ॥੧੮੧॥
koaoo kahai ih khed gahai ham koaoo kahai ih naahan nachhe |181|Someone said that Krishna was angry with them and someone said tht he was unwell.181.
ਹੋਇ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਸਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨ ਲੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਪੈ ਸਭ ਗਾਈ ॥
hoe ikatr sanai har gvaaran lai apune sang pai sabh gaaee |Krishna moved on with the boys and the cows
ਦੇਖਿ ਤਿਨੈ ਗਿਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਢਾਇ ਸਭੈ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਈ ॥
dekh tinai gir ke sir te man mohi badtaae sabhai utth dhaaee |Seeing them on the top of the mountain all ran towards them gopas also went towards them
ਗੋਪ ਗਏ ਤਿਨ ਪੈ ਚਲ ਕੈ ਜਬ ਜਾਤ ਪਿਖੀ ਤਿਨ ਨੈਨਨ ਮਾਈ ॥
gop ge tin pai chal kai jab jaat pikhee tin nainan maaee |Yashoda also saw this spectacle Krishna was standing there in anger without moving
ਰੋਹ ਭਰੇ ਸੁ ਖਰੇ ਨ ਟਰੇ ਸੁਤ ਨੰਦਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਹੁ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੧੮੨॥
roh bhare su khare na ttare sut nandeh ke kahu baat sunaaee |182|And all these people told many things to Krishna.182.
ਨੰਦ ਬਾਚ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
nand baach kaanrah prat |Speech of Nand addressed to Krishna:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਕਿਉ ਸੁਤ ਗਊਅਨ ਲਿਆਇ ਇਹਾ ਇਹ ਤੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਦਧਿ ਖੋਯੋ ॥
kiau sut gaooan liaae ihaa ih tai hamaro sabh hee dadh khoyo |“O son! why have you brought the cows here? In this way, the production of milk for us has declined
ਚੂੰਘ ਗਏ ਬਛਰਾ ਇਨ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਤੇ ਹਮਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਹੋਯੋ ॥
choongh ge bachharaa in ke ih te hamare man mai bhram hoyo |All the calves have drunk their milk and this illusion persists in our mind”
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਫਰੇਬ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਜੁ ਕਰੋਯੋ ॥
kaanrah fareb kariyo tin so man moh mahaa tin ke ju karoyo |Krishna did not tell them anything and in this way, he increased their feeling of attachment
ਬਾਰਿ ਭਯੋ ਤਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਨੋ ਤਿਹ ਮੈ ਜਲ ਸੀਤਲ ਮੋਹ ਸਮੋਯੋ ॥੧੮੩॥
baar bhayo tat krodh mano tih mai jal seetal moh samoyo |183|Seeing the form of Krishna, the anger of all cooled down like water.183.
ਮੋਹਿ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨਹਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਕੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਸੁਤ ਕੋਊ ॥
mohi badtiyo tin ke man mai neh chhodd sakai apane sut koaoo |The affection increased in the minds of all, because no one of them could abandon his son
ਗਊਅਨ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਕੈ ਬਛਰੇ ਇਤਨੋ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਕਰੈ ਤਬ ਸੋਊ ॥
gaooan chhodd sakai bachhare itano man moh karai tab soaoo |The affection of cows and calves could be forsaken
ਪੈ ਗਰੂਏ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਗੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੈ ਤਿਨ ਚਉਕਿ ਹਲੀ ਇਹਿ ਬਾਤ ਲਖੋਊ ॥
pai garooe grihi ge sang lai tin chauk halee ihi baat lakhoaoo |In the way, gradually, remembering all these things all went to their homes
ਦੇਵ ਡਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਇਨ ਪੈ ਕਿ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਿਧੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਹੋਊ ॥੧੮੪॥
dev ddaree mamataa in pai ki charitr kidho har ko ih hoaoo |184|Seeing all this Yashoda was also frightened and thought that possible this was some miracle of Krishna.184.
ਸਾਲ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਭਇਓ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਬਨ ਬੀਚ ਗਏ ਦਿਨ ਕਉਨੈ ॥
saal biteet bheio jab hee har jee ban beech ge din kaunai |When the year passed, one day Sri Krishna went to Ban.
ਦੇਖਨ ਕਉਤਕ ਕੌ ਚਤੁਰਾਨਨ ਸੀਘ੍ਰ ਭਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਉਠਿ ਗਉਨੈ ॥
dekhan kautak kau chaturaanan seeghr bhayo tih ko utth gaunai |After the lapse of several years, once Krishna went to the forest, Brahma also reached there in order to see his wonderful play
ਗ੍ਵਾਰ ਵਹੈ ਬਛੁਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੈ ਵਹ ਚਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਾਇ ਗਇਓ ਹੁਇ ਤਉਨੈ ॥
gvaar vahai bachhure sang hai vah chakrit jaae geio hue taunai |He was astonished to see the same gopa children and calves that he had stolen
ਦੇਖਿ ਤਿਨੈ ਡਰ ਕੈ ਪਰਿ ਪਾਇਨ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਛਉਨੈ ॥੧੮੫॥
dekh tinai ddar kai par paaein aae kai aanand dundabh chhaunai |185|Seeing all this, Brahma fell at the feet of Krishna, in fear and in bliss he began to play musical instruments denting rejoicings.185.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਾਚ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਜੂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ॥
brahamaa baach kaanrah joo prat |Speech of Brahma addressed to Krishna:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਹੇ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਹੇ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਪਤਿ ਅਚੁਤ ਹੇ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਸੁਨ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
he karunaa nidh he jag ke pat achut he binatee sun leejai |“O Lord of the world! Treasure of Mercy! Immortal Lord! Listen to my request
ਚੂਕ ਭਈ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਛਿਮਾਪਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
chook bhee ham te tumaree tih te aparaadh chhimaapan keejai |I have erred, kindly forgive me for this fault”
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਛਿਮੀ ਹਮ ਨ ਬਿਖ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਪੀਜੈ ॥
kaanrah kahee ih baat chhimee ham na bikh amrit chhaadd kai peejai |Krishna said, “I have forgiven, but abandoning the nectary, the poison should not be taken
ਲਿਆਉ ਕਹਿਓਨ ਲਿਆਇ ਹੋਂ ਜਾਹ ਸਿਤਾਬ ਅਈਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਢੀਲ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੧੮੬॥
liaau kahion liaae hon jaah sitaab aeeyo nahee dteel kareejai |186|Go and bring all the men and animals without delay.”186.
ਲੈ ਬਛਰੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਚਲ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਪਹਿ ਆਯੋ ॥
lai bachharai brahamaa tab hee chhin mai chal kai har jee peh aayo |Brahma brought all the calves and gopas in an instant
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰ ਤਬੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਨ ਹੰਰ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
kaanrah mile jab hee sabh gvaar tabai man mai tin hanr sukh paayo |When all the gopa boys met Krishna, all were greatly pleased
ਲੋਪ ਭਯੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੇ ਬਛਰੇ ਤਬ ਭੇਦ ਕਿਨੀ ਲਖਿ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
lop bhayo sang ke bachhare tab bhed kinee lakh jaan na paayo |With this, al the calves made by the maya of Krishna, disappeared, but none could know this mystery
ਬਾਲ ਬੁਝੀ ਨ ਕਿਨੀ ਉਠਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਸੁ ਲਿਆਉ ਵਹੈ ਹਮ ਜੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਖਾਯੋ ॥੧੮੭॥
baal bujhee na kinee utth bol su liaau vahai ham jo mil khaayo |187|Whatever you have brought, we all may eat it together.”187.
ਹੋਇ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਕਿਧੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਲਕ ਅੰਨ ਅਚਿਯੋ ਸਭਨੋ ਜੁ ਪੁਰਾਨੋ ॥
hoe ikatr kidho brij baalak an achiyo sabhano ju puraano |The boys of Braja gathered together all the old food and began to eat it
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਹਮ ਨਾਗ ਹਨ੍ਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਖੇਲ ਕਿਨੀ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਨੋ ॥
kaanrah kahee ham naag hanayo har ko ih khel kinee neh jaano |Krishna said, “I have killed the Naga (serpent), but none could know about this play
ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਮਹਾ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਗਰੜਾਧੁਜ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਛਕ ਮਾਨੋ ॥
hoe prasan mahaa man mai gararraadhuj ko kar rachhak maano |They were all pleased considering the garuda (blue jay) as their protector
ਦਾਨ ਦਯੋ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਜੀਅ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥੧੮੮॥
daan dayo ham ko jeea ko ih maat pitaa peh jaae bakhaano |188|And Krishna said, “You may tell this at your home that Lord has protected our life.”188.
ਇਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਛਰੇ ਆਨ ਪਾਇ ਪਰਾ ॥
eit brahamaa bachhare aan paae paraa |End of the description of “Coming of Brahma alongwith the calves and falling at the feet of Krishna.”
ਅਥ ਧੇਨਕ ਦੈਤ ਬਧ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath dhenak dait badh kathanan |Now begins the description of the killing of the demon named Dhenuka

ਬਾਰਹ ਸਾਲ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਭਏ ਤੁ ਲਗੇ ਤਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਚਰਾਵਨ ਗਾਈ ॥
baarah saal biteet bhe tu lage tab kaanrah charaavan gaaee |Krishna went to graze the cows till the age of twelve
