ਸਿੰਘ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਜੇ ਲਗੇ ਤੁਪਕ ਕੇ ਘਾਇ ॥
singh praan tab hee taje lage tupak ke ghaae |When the bullet hit, the lion breathed its last,
ਤੀਨ ਸਲਾਮੈ ਤਿਨ ਕਰੀ ਜਹਾਗੀਰ ਕੋ ਆਇ ॥੧੯॥
teen salaamai tin karee jahaageer ko aae |19|She came forward and made obeisance to the Rani three times.(l9)

ਅਧਿਕ ਖੁਸੀ ਹਜਰਤਿ ਜੂ ਭਏ ॥

ਜਨੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਆਜੁ ਇਹ ਦਏ ॥
jan muhi praan aaj ih de |The Emperor was delighted that she had saved his life.
ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਧੰਨ੍ਯ ਨਿਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਹ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
dhanay dhanay nij triy kah keeno |(He) called his wife blessed and said
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਦਾਨ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਇਨ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੨੦॥
praan daan ham ko in deeno |20|He expressed his gratitude to her for rescuing him.(20)

ਤਿਹ ਆਗੇ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਮਨੁਖ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥
tih aage kayaa manukh bichaaro |‘A person who can kill a lion, to that person what is a human being?
ਹਾਹਾ ਦੈਯਾ ਕਹ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥
haahaa daiyaa kah kayaa kariyai |O God ('Daiya')! (What shall we) do now?
ਐਸੀ ਢੀਠ ਨਾਰਿ ਤੇ ਡਰਿਯੈ ॥੨੨॥
aaisee dteetth naar te ddariyai |22|‘God be benevolent and one must be fearful of such a person.’(22)

ਜਹਾਗੀਰ ਏ ਬਚਨ ਜਬੈ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਨ ਸੁਨ੍ਯੋ ॥

ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਾਇ ਸੀਸ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਧੁਨ੍ਰਯੋ ॥
chit mai adhik risaae sees apuno dhunrayo |When Jehangir heard this, he flew into rage and shook his head.
ਐਸੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਟ ਨ ਬਹੁਰੇ ਜਾਇਯੈ ॥
aaisee triy ke nikatt na bahure jaaeiyai |Do not go near such a woman again
ਹੋ ਕਰੈ ਦੇਹ ਕੋ ਘਾਤ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਪਾਇਯੈ ॥੨੩॥
ho karai deh ko ghaat bahur kayaa paaeiyai |23|‘One should not go near such a woman, as one could lose one’s life.’(23)

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਅਧਿਕ ਜਿਯ ਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
triy ko traas adhik jiy maanayo |After hearing this, Jehangir was dreaded, and he became fearful of women.
ਸਿੰਘ ਹਨਤ ਜਿਹ ਲਗੀ ਨ ਬਾਰਾ ॥
singh hanat jih lagee na baaraa |After hearing this, Jehangir was dreaded, and he became fearful of women.
ਤਿਹ ਆਗੇ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਮਨੁਖ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੨੪॥
tih aage kayaa manukh bichaaraa |24|‘One who kills the lion instantly, how can a man encounter her,’ (he thought).(24)

ਅਤਿ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਨ ਕੀ ਜਿਨੈ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
at bachitr gat triyan kee jinai na jaanai koe |‘Plenty of Chritars are there in females; no one can perceive them.
ਜੋ ਬਾਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੨੫॥
jo baachhai soee karai jo chaahai so hoe |25|‘They do whatever they like; all transpires the way they wish.(25)
ਪਿਯਹਿ ਉਬਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੁਪਕ ਕੇ ਠੌਰ ॥
piyeh ubaaraa har hanaa ek tupak ke tthauar |‘She saved her favourite by killing the lion with one stroke.
ਤਾ ਕੌ ਛਲਿ ਪਲ ਮੈ ਗਈ ਭਈ ਔਰ ਕੀ ਔਰ ॥੨੬॥
taa kau chhal pal mai gee bhee aauar kee aauar |26|‘The ladies attain variable characteristic within a few moments.’(26)
ਜਹਾਗੀਰ ਪਤਿਸਾਹ ਤਬ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਭਯਾ ਉਦਾਸ ॥
jahaageer patisaah tab man mai bhayaa udaas |Emperor Jehangir became gloomy in his mind,
ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਸੋ ਬਾਤੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਭਯਾ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥੨੭॥
taa sang so baatain sadaa ddar te bhayaa niraas |27|And, then on, always remained cautious of women.(27)(1)

ਨੰਦ ਮਤੀ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਗ ਕਹਈ ॥
nand matee taa ko jag kahee |A female barber lived in Anandpur, she was known in the world as Nand Mati.
ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਥ ਤਵਨ ਕੋ ਰਹੈ ॥
moorakh naath tavan ko rahai |A female barber lived in Anandpur, she was known in the world as Nand Mati.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕਹ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹੈ ॥੧॥
triy kah kachhoo na mukh te kahai |1|Her husband was a simpleton and he never constrained his wife.(1)
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
taa ke dhaam bahut jan aavai |Many people used to come to his house
ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
nis din taa so bhog kamaavai |Lot of people used to come to her house, and every day she made love with them.
ਸੋ ਜੜ ਪਰਾ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਰਹਈ ॥
so jarr paraa hamaare rahee |Lot of people used to come to her house, and every day she made love with them.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਹਈ ॥੨॥
taa ko kachhoo na mukh te kahee |2|That fool always remained with us whole day and never checked his wife off.(2)
ਜਬ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਵਹੁ ਧਾਮ ਸਿਧਾਵੈ ॥
jab kabahoon vahu dhaam sidhaavai |That fool always remained with us whole day and never checked his wife off.(2)
ਯੌ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥
yau taa so triy bachan sunaavai |Whenever he came back home, his wife would pronounce,
ਯਾ ਕਹ ਕਲਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
yaa kah kal kee baat na laagee |That it did not touch the air ('baat') of Kaliyuga.
ਮੇਰੋ ਪਿਯਾ ਬਡੋ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੩॥
mero piyaa baddo baddabhaagee |3|‘He is not induced by the modern-day influences, as he has been endowed with noble destiny.’(3)
