ਕਾਟ ਕੈ ਦਾਮਨ ਛੇਦ ਕੈ ਭੇਦ ਕੈ ਸਿੰਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਰੀ ਭਿੰਨ ਅੰਬਾਰੀ ॥
kaatt kai daaman chhed kai bhed kai sindhur kee karee bhin anbaaree |She destroyed the canopies, separated the palanquins from the elephants.,
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਆਗ ਲਗਾਇ ਹਨੂ ਗੜ ਲੰਕ ਅਵਾਸ ਕੀ ਡਾਰੀ ਅਟਾਰੀ ॥੧੩੨॥
maanahu aag lagaae hanoo garr lank avaas kee ddaaree attaaree |132|It seemed that Hanuman after setting Lanka on fire, has thrown down the loft of the palace of the citadel.132.,
ਤੋਰ ਕੈ ਮੋਰ ਕੈ ਦੈਤਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਘੋਰ ਕੇ ਚੰਡਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਸਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
tor kai mor kai daitan ke mukh ghor ke chandd mahaa as leeno |Chandi, taking her superb sword, twisted the faces of the demons with her blows.,
ਜੋਰ ਕੈ ਕੋਰ ਕੈ ਠੋਰ ਕੈ ਬੀਰ ਸੁ ਰਾਛਸ ਕੋ ਹਤਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
jor kai kor kai tthor kai beer su raachhas ko hat kai tih deeno |She destroyed those demons, who had obstructed her advance with their strength, being arrayed in rows.,
ਖੋਰ ਕੈ ਤੋਰ ਕੈ ਬੋਰ ਕੈ ਦਾਨਵ ਲੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਰੇ ਹਾਡ ਚਬੀਨੋ ॥
khor kai tor kai bor kai daanav lai tin ke kare haadd chabeeno |Eroding the demons by creating fear, she ultimately crushed their bones.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਣ ਕੋ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਿਓ ਜਿਉ ਦਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਜਲ ਜਿਉ ਰਿਖਿ ਪੀਨੋ ॥੧੩੩॥
sraun ko paan kario jiau davaa har saagar ko jal jiau rikh peeno |133|She drank the blood as Krishna quaffed fire and the sage agastya drank the water of ocean.133.,
ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੁਵੰਡ ਕਰੰ ਗਹਿ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਓ ਨ ਗਨੇ ਭਟ ਆਨੇ ॥
chandd prachandd kuvandd karan geh judh kario na gane bhatt aane |Chandi began the war very swiftly holding the bow in her hand, she killed the unaccountable number of demons.
ਮਾਰਿ ਦਈ ਸਭ ਦੈਤ ਚਮੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਸ੍ਰਉਣਤ ਜੰਬੁਕ ਗ੍ਰਿਝ ਅਘਾਨੇ ॥
maar dee sabh dait chamoon tih sraunat janbuk grijh aghaane |She killed all the army of the demon Raktavija and with their blood, the jackals and vultures satisfied their hunger.,
ਭਾਲ ਭਇਆਨਕ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਕੋ ਦਾਨਵ ਇਉ ਰਨ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਾਨੇ ॥
bhaal bheaanak dekh bhavaanee ko daanav iau ran chhaadd paraane |Seeing the dreadful face of the goddess, the demons ran away from the field like this.,
ਪਉਨ ਕੇ ਗਉਨ ਕੇ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਤੇ ਪੀਪਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਤ ਉਡਾਨੇ ॥੧੩੪॥
paun ke gaun ke tej prataap te peepar ke jiau paat uddaane |134|Just as with the blowing of swift and forceful wind, the leaves of the fig tree (peepal) fly away.134.,
ਆਹਵ ਮੈ ਖਿਝ ਕੈ ਬਰ ਚੰਡ ਕਰੰ ਧਰ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਅਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
aahav mai khijh kai bar chandd karan dhar kai har pai ar maare |With great the mighty Chandika, holding the sword in her hand, destroyed the horses and the enemies.,
ਏਕਨ ਤੀਰਨ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਗਦਾ ਹਤਿ ਏਕਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਫਾਰੇ ॥
ekan teeran chakr gadaa hat ekan ke tan kehar faare |Many were killed with arrows, disc and mace and the bodies of many were torn by the lion.,
ਹੈ ਦਲ ਗੈ ਦਲ ਪੈਦਲ ਘਾਇ ਕੈ ਮਾਰ ਰਥੀ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਕਰ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
hai dal gai dal paidal ghaae kai maar rathee birathee kar ddaare |She killed the forces on horses, elephants and on foot and wounding those on chariots hath rendered them without chariots.,
ਸਿੰਧੁਰ ਐਸੇ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਜਿਉ ਭੂਮ ਮੈ ਝੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਗਿਰ ਭਾਰੇ ॥੧੩੫॥
sindhur aaise pare tih tthaur jiau bhoom mai jhoom gire gir bhaare |135|The elements lying on the ground at that place seem to have fallen like mountains during the earthquake.135.,

ਰਕਤ ਬੀਜ ਕੀ ਚਮੂੰ ਸਭ ਭਾਗੀ ਕਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
rakat beej kee chamoon sabh bhaagee kar tih traas |All the army of Raktavija ran away in fear of the goddess.,
ਕਹਿਓ ਦੈਤ ਪੁਨਿ ਘੇਰ ਕੈ ਕਰੋ ਚੰਡਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਸ ॥੧੩੬॥
kahio dait pun gher kai karo chandd ko naas |136|The demon brought them and said, “I shall destroy Chnadi.”136.,

ਕਾਨਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਸੁ ਬੀਰ ਫਿਰੇ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਲੈ ॥
kaanan mai sun kai ih baat su beer fire kar mai as lai lai |Hearing these words with ears, the warriors returned and holding their swords in their hands,
ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਸੋ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿਓ ਬਲਿ ਕੈ ਅਤ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਕ੍ਰੁਧਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥
chandd prachandd so judh kario bal kai at hee man krudhat hvai kai |And with great rage in their minds, with great force and swiftness, they began the war with the goddess.,
ਘਾਉ ਲਗੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਇਮ ਸ੍ਰਉਣ ਗਿਰਿਓ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰੁ ਚੁਐ ਕੈ ॥
ghaau lagai tin ke tan mai im sraun girio dharanee par chuaai kai |The blood flowed out from their wounds and falls on the ground like the water in the cataract.,
ਆਗ ਲਗੇ ਜਿਮੁ ਕਾਨਨ ਮੈ ਤਨ ਤਿਉ ਰਹੀ ਬਾਨਨ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ॥੧੩੭॥
aag lage jim kaanan mai tan tiau rahee baanan kee dhun hvai kai |137|The sound of the arrows appears like the cracking sound produced by the fire burning the needs.137.,
ਆਇਸ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਦਾਨਵ ਕੋ ਦਲ ਚੰਡਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਆਇ ਅਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
aaeis paae kai daanav ko dal chandd ke saamuhe aae ario hai |Hearing the command of Raktavija the army of the demons came and resisted before the goddess.,
ਢਾਰ ਅਉ ਸਾਗ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਨਿ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਬਰ ਬੀਰਨ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
dtaar aau saag kripaanan lai kar mai bar beeran judh kario hai |The warriors began to wage war holding their shields, swords and daggers in their hands.,
ਫੇਰ ਫਿਰੇ ਨਹਿ ਆਹਵ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਤਿਹ ਧੀਰਜ ਗਾਢੋ ਧਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥
fer fire neh aahav te man meh tih dheeraj gaadto dhario hai |They did not hesitate to come and have plucked up their hearts firmly.,
ਰੋਕ ਲਈ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਡਿ ਸੁ ਭਾਨ ਮਨੋ ਪਰਬੇਖ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੧੩੮॥
rok lee chahoon or te chandd su bhaan mano parabekh pario hai |138|They withheld Chandi from all the four sides like the sun encircled by clouds from all directions.138.,
ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੁਵੰਡ ਮਹਾ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਬਲਵੰਡ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਓ ॥
kop kai chandd prachandd kuvandd mahaa bal kai balavandd sanbhaario |The powerful Chandi, in great rage, hath caught hold of her mighty bow with great force.,
ਦਾਮਿਨਿ ਜਿਉ ਘਨ ਸੇ ਦਲ ਪੈਠਿ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਪੁਰਜੇ ਪੁਰਜੇ ਦਲੁ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
daamin jiau ghan se dal paitth kai kai puraje puraje dal maario |Penetrating like lightning amongst the clouds-like enemy, she hath cut asunder the army of demons.,
ਬਾਨਨਿ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਦਏ ਅਰਿ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਕਵਿ ਭਾਉ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਓ ॥
baanan saath bidaar de ar taa chhab ko kav bhaau bichaario |She hath destroyed the enemy with her arrows, the poet hath imagined it in this manner:
ਸੂਰਜ ਕੀ ਕਿਰਨੇ ਸਰਮਾਸਹਿ ਰੇਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਤਹਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੩੯॥
sooraj kee kirane saramaaseh ren anek tahaa kar ddaario |139|It seems that the arrows are moving like the radiant rays of the sun and the bits of the flesh of the demons are flying here and there like dust.139.,
ਚੰਡਿ ਚਮੂੰ ਬਹੁ ਦੈਤਨ ਕੀ ਹਤਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੁਵੰਡ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਓ ॥
chandd chamoon bahu daitan kee hat fer prachandd kuvandd sanbhaario |After killing the enormous army of the demons, Chandi hath swiftly held up her bow.,
ਬਾਨਨ ਸੋ ਦਲ ਫੋਰ ਦਇਓ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਬਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਾ ਭਭਕਾਰਿਓ ॥
baanan so dal for deio bal kai bar singh mahaa bhabhakaario |She hath torn the forces with her arrows and the mighty lion hath also roared loudly.,
ਮਾਰ ਦਏ ਸਿਰਦਾਰ ਬਡੇ ਧਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਉਣ ਬਹਾਇ ਬਡੋ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਓ ॥
maar de siradaar badde dhar sraun bahaae baddo ran paario |Many chieftains have been killed and the blood is flowing on the ground in this great war.,
ਏਕ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਦਇਓ ਧਨੁ ਯੌ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਗਾਜ ਨੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੪੦॥
ek ke sees deio dhan yau jan kop kai gaaj ne manddap maario |140|The head of one demon hath been kicked by the bow thrown away like the lightning desecrating a palace.140.,

ਚੰਡਿ ਚਮੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੈਤ ਕੀ ਐਸੇ ਦਈ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ॥
chandd chamoon sabh dait kee aaise dee sanghaar |Chandi destroyed al the army of the demons in this way,
ਪਉਨ ਪੂਤ ਜਿਉ ਲੰਕ ਕੋ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਬਾਗ ਉਖਾਰਿ ॥੧੪੧॥
paun poot jiau lank ko ddaario baag ukhaar |141|Just as Hanuman, the son of wind-god, uprooted the garden of Lanka.141.,

ਗਾਜ ਕੈ ਚੰਡਿ ਮਹਾਬਲਿ ਮੇਘ ਸੀ ਬੂੰਦਨ ਜਿਉ ਅਰਿ ਪੈ ਸਰ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
gaaj kai chandd mahaabal megh see boondan jiau ar pai sar ddaare |Very powerful Chandi, thundering like clouds, hath showered her arrows on the enemy like rain-drops.,
ਦਾਮਿਨਿ ਸੋ ਖਗ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਬਹੁ ਬੀਰ ਅਧੰ ਧਰ ਕੈ ਧਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
daamin so khag lai kar mai bahu beer adhan dhar kai dhar maare |Taking the lightning-like sword in her hand, she hath cut into halves the trunks of the warriors and thrown them on the ground.,
ਘਾਇਲ ਘੂਮ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਹ ਇਉ ਉਪਮਾ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਵਿ ਯੌ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੇ ॥
ghaaeil ghoom pare tih iau upamaa man mai kav yau anusaare |The wounded revolve and like this according to the imagination of the poet.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਮਨੋ ਸਰਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਮਧਿ ਧਸੀ ਕਰਿ ਲੋਥ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥੧੪੨॥
sraun pravaah mano sarataa tih madh dhasee kar loth karaare |142|Within the flowing stream of blood are drowned the corpses formulating the banks (of the stream).142.,
ਐਸੇ ਪਰੇ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰ ਬੀਰ ਸੁ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਦੁਖੰਡ ਜੁ ਚੰਡਿਹਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
aaise pare dharanee par beer su kai kai dukhandd ju chanddihi ddaare |In this way, the warriors cut into halves by Chandi, are lying on the ground.,
ਲੋਥਨ ਉਪਰ ਲੋਥ ਗਿਰੀ ਬਹਿ ਸ੍ਰਉਣ ਚਲਿਓ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਟ ਪਨਾਰੇ ॥
lothan upar loth giree beh sraun chalio jan kott panaare |The corpse hath fallen on the corpses and the blood is flowing enormously as if millions of spouts are feeding the flow.,
ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਯਾਲ ਸੋ ਬਿਯਾਲ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਸੋ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵਿ ਯੌ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
lai kar biyaal so biyaal bajaavat so upamaa kav yau man dhaare |The elephants are bumped against the elephants and the poet imagines it like this,
ਮਾਨੋ ਮਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਲਏ ਬਹੇ ਪਉਨ ਸੋ ਆਪਸਿ ਮੈ ਭਿਰ ਹੈ ਗਿਰਿ ਭਾਰੇ ॥੧੪੩॥
maano mahaa prale bahe paun so aapas mai bhir hai gir bhaare |143|That with blowing of the wind each other.143.,
ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਅਸਿ ਦਾਰੁਨ ਕਾਮ ਕਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਅਰਿ ਸੋ ਅਰਿਣੀ ਹੈ ॥
lai kar mai as daarun kaam kare ran mai ar so arinee hai |Holding her terrible sword in her hand, Chandi hath begun her function with powerful movement in the battlefield.,
ਸੂਰ ਹਨੇ ਬਲਿ ਕੈ ਬਲੁਵਾਨ ਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਚਲਿਓ ਬਹਿ ਬੈਤਰਨੀ ਹੈ ॥
soor hane bal kai baluvaan su sraun chalio beh baitaranee hai |With great force she hath killed many warriors and their flowing blood seems like Vaitarni stream.,
