ਕਾਲ ਡੰਡ ਬਿਨ ਬਚਾ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
kaal ddandd bin bachaa na koee |Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu, Indra etc. from the rod of Kaal
ਸਿਵ ਬਿਰੰਚ ਬਿਸਨਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਨ ਸੋਈ ॥੧੦੨॥
siv biranch bisanindr na soee |102|No one could escape. 102.
ਜੈਸਿ ਜੂਨਿ ਇਕ ਦੈਤ ਬਖਨਿਯਤ ॥
jais joon ik dait bakhaniyat |As a giant called June,
ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਇਕ ਜੂਨਿ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਜਨਿਯਤ ॥
trayo ik joon devataa janiyat |Similarly, a god Jun is also known.
ਜੈਸੇ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਨੋ ਤੁਰਕਾਨਾ ॥
jaise hindooaano turakaanaa |As one is a Hindu or a Muslim,
ਸਭਹਿਨ ਸੀਸ ਕਾਲ ਜਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੧੦੩॥
sabhahin sees kaal jaravaanaa |103|But on the head of all of them there is a calamity. 103.
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਦੈਤ ਦੇਵਤਨ ਮਾਰੈਂ ॥
kabahoon dait devatan maarain |Sometimes the gods killed the demons
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਦੈਤਨ ਦੇਵ ਸੰਘਾਰੈਂ ॥
kabahoon daitan dev sanghaarain |And once the demons have adorned the gods.
ਦੇਵ ਦੈਤ ਜਿਨ ਦੋਊ ਸੰਘਾਰਾ ॥
dev dait jin doaoo sanghaaraa |Who has slain both gods and demons,
ਵਹੈ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧੦੪॥
vahai purakh pratipaal hamaaraa |104|That (Kal) man is my guardian. 104.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਉਪਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਦਿਨਿੰਦ੍ਰਹਿ ਜੌਨ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
eindr upindr dinindreh jauan sanghaariyo |Who created Indra, Upendra (Vaman) Surya,
ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੁਬੇਰ ਜਲਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਅਹਿੰਦ੍ਰਹਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
chandr kuber jalindr ahindreh maariyo |Has killed Chandrama, Kubera, Varuna and Sheshnaga.
ਪੁਰੀ ਚੌਦਹੂੰ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਜਵਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
puree chauadahoon chakr javan sun leejiyai |Whose circle is heard among fourteen people,
ਹੋ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਗੁਰ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥੧੦੫॥
ho namasakaar taahee ko gur kar keejiyai |105|One should bow down to him and accept him as Guru. 105.
ਦਿਜ ਬਾਚ ॥
dij baach |Brahmin said:
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਿਪ੍ਰਹਿ ਕੋ ਸਮਝਾਯੋ ॥
bahu bidh bipreh ko samajhaayo |(Raja Kumari) explained to Brahman in many ways.
ਪੁਨਿ ਮਿਸ੍ਰਹਿ ਅਸ ਭਾਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
pun misreh as bhaakh sunaayo |Then the Brahmin spoke thus,
ਜੇ ਪਾਹਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
je paahan kee poojaa kar hai |who worships stones,
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਸਕਲ ਸਿਵ ਹਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੬॥
taa ke paap sakal siv har hai |106|All their sins are removed by Shiva himself. 106.
ਜੇ ਨਰ ਸਾਲਿਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਕਹ ਧਯੈਹੈ ॥
je nar saaligraam kah dhayaihai |A person who chants Saligram,
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸਕਲ ਪਾਪ ਕੋ ਛੈਹੈ ॥
taa ke sakal paap ko chhaihai |All his sins will be wiped out.
ਜੋ ਇਹ ਛਾਡਿ ਅਵਰ ਕਹ ਧਯੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo ih chhaadd avar kah dhayai hai |Who will leave it and focus on someone else
ਤੇ ਨਰ ਮਹਾ ਨਰਕ ਮਹਿ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥੧੦੭॥
te nar mahaa narak meh jai hai |107|That man will go to the Great Hell. 107.
ਜੇ ਨਰ ਕਛੁ ਧਨ ਬਿਪ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੈ ਹੈ ॥
je nar kachh dhan bipreh dai hai |A person who gives some money to a Brahmin,
ਆਗੇ ਮਾਗ ਦਸ ਗੁਨੋ ਲੈਹੈ ॥
aage maag das guno laihai |He will ask for ten gunas in the next life.
ਜੋ ਬਿਪ੍ਰਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਨਤੈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
jo bipran bin anatai dehee |Who will give to any other than Brahman,
ਤਾ ਕੌ ਕਛੁ ਸੁ ਫਲੈ ਨਹਿ ਸੇਈ ॥੧੦੮॥
taa kau kachh su falai neh seee |108|He will not receive any of his fruits. 108.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
arril |adamant:
ਤਬੈ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਮਾ ਸਿਵ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਲਈ ॥
tabai kuar pratimaa siv kee kar mai lee |Then Raj Kumari took the idol of Shiva in hand
ਹਸਿ ਹਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਜ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਕਸਿ ਕਸਿ ਕੈ ਦਈ ॥
has has kar dij ke mukh kas kas kai dee |And laughed and slapped the Brahmin's face.
ਸਾਲਿਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਭੇ ਦਾਤਿ ਫੋਰਿ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਦੀਏ ॥
saaligraam bhe daat for sabh hee dee |Broke all the teeth (of the Brahmin) with Saligram
ਹੋ ਛੀਨਿ ਛਾਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਸ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਲੀਏ ॥੧੦੯॥
ho chheen chhaan kar basatr misr ke sabh lee |109|And took away all the clothes (and armor) of the Brahmin. 109.
ਕਹੋ ਮਿਸ੍ਰ ਅਬ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਕਹ ਗਯੋ ॥
kaho misr ab rudr tihaaro kah gayo |(And began to say) O Brahman! Ten, where has your Shiva gone now?
ਜਿਹ ਸੇਵਤ ਥੋ ਸਦਾ ਦਾਤਿ ਛੈ ਤਿਨ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
jih sevat tho sadaa daat chhai tin kiyo |He whom (you) always worship has broken (your) teeth.
ਜਿਹ ਲਿੰਗਹਿ ਕੌ ਜਪਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਬਤਾਇਯੋ ॥
jih lingeh kau japate kaal bataaeiyo |The linga you have spent (so much) time worshipping,
ਹੋ ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲ ਸੋ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਮੁਖ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਯੋ ॥੧੧੦॥
ho ant kaal so tumare mukh meh aaeiyo |110|He has come to your mouth at the end (i.e. he has come and played on your face). 110.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦਰਬੁ ਛੀਨਿ ਜੋ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
taa ko darab chheen jo liyo |The darb (wealth) of him (the Brahmin) had been taken away,
ਜੋ ਸਭ ਦਾਨ ਦਿਜਨ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਯੋ ॥
jo sabh daan dijan kar diyo |He donated all that to the Brahmins.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਿਸ੍ਰ ਕਛੁ ਚਿੰਤ ਨ ਕਰਹੂੰ ॥
kahiyo misr kachh chint na karahoon |And said O Brahmin! Do not worry about anything (of money).
ਦਾਨ ਦਸ ਗੁਨੋ ਆਗੈ ਫਰਹੂੰ ॥੧੧੧॥
daan das guno aagai farahoon |111|(Because) in the next life, it will multiply tenfold. 111.
ਕਬਿਤੁ ॥
kabit |Compartment:
ਔਰਨ ਕੋ ਕਹਤ ਲੁਟਾਵੋ ਤੁਮ ਖਾਹੁ ਧਨ ਆਪੁ ਪਹਿਤੀ ਮੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਖਾਤ ਨ ਬਿਸਾਰ ਹੈਂ ॥
aauaran ko kahat luttaavo tum khaahu dhan aap pahitee mai ddaar khaat na bisaar hain |They say to others that you loot a lot of money, but you eat (ie use it with pleasure) the money (and are so miserly that) they do not put turmeric ('bisar') in dal ('pahiti') and eat it.
ਬਡੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਪੰਚੀ ਪਰਪਚੰਨ ਕੋ ਲੀਏ ਫਿਰੈ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਮੈ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਲੂਟਤ ਬਜਾਰ ਹੈਂ ॥
badde hee prapanchee parapachan ko lee firai din hee mai logan ko loottat bajaar hain |There are very big prapanchis and they go around performing prapanchas (hypocrites) and rob people in the market during the day.
ਹਾਥ ਤੇ ਨ ਕੌਡੀ ਦੇਤ ਕੌਡੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਮਾਗ ਲੇਤ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਹਤ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਭਚਾਰ ਹੈਂ ॥
haath te na kauaddee det kauaddee kauaddee maag let putree kahat taa so karai bibhachaar hain |They don't give money out of hand, (but ask for money). They commit adultery with (what is) called daughter.
ਲੋਭਤਾ ਕੇ ਜਏ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਮਮਤਾ ਕੇ ਭਏ ਹੈਂ ਏ ਸੂਮਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕੈਧੌ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰਾਵਤਾਰ ਹੈਂ ॥੧੧੨॥
lobhataa ke je hain ki mamataa ke bhe hain e soomataa ke putr kaidhau daridraavataar hain |112|(Thus they) become selfish, born of greed. (These) are the sons of miser or the incarnation of miser. 112.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਪਹਤੀ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਸਾਰ ਨ ਡਾਰਹਿ ॥
pahatee bikhai bisaar na ddaareh |(You) don't put turmeric in dal,
ਔਰਨ ਪਾਸ ਗਾਲ ਕੋ ਮਾਰਹਿ ॥
aauaran paas gaal ko maareh |But others boast.
ਜਨਿਯਤ ਕਿਸੀ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
janiyat kisee des ke raajaa |It seems that there are kings of a country,
ਕੌਡੀ ਕੇ ਆਵਤ ਨਹਿ ਕਾਜਾ ॥੧੧੩॥
kauaddee ke aavat neh kaajaa |113|But Kodi doesn't work either. 113.
ਜੌ ਇਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
jau in mantr jantr sidh hoee |If these mantras were received directly from the jantras,
ਦਰ ਦਰ ਭੀਖਿ ਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
dar dar bheekh na maagai koee |So no one goes around asking for alms from time to time.
ਏਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
ekai mukh te mantr uchaarai |By chanting the same mantra from the mouth
ਧਨ ਸੌ ਸਕਲ ਧਾਮ ਭਰਿ ਡਾਰੈ ॥੧੧੪॥
dhan sau sakal dhaam bhar ddaarai |114|Everyone fills the house with money. 114.
ਰਾਮ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਏ ਜਿਨੈ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥
raam krisan e jinai bakhaanai |Rama, Krishna, as many as they are called
ਸਿਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਏ ਜਾਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨੈ ॥
siv brahamaa e jaeh pramaanai |Shiva, Brahma etc.
ਤੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਾਲ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
te sabh hee sree kaal sanghaare |Call has killed them all
ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧੧੫॥
kaal paae kai bahur savaare |115|And time itself has made them again. 115.
ਕੇਤੇ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ ਅਰੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥
kete raamachand ar krisanaa |How many Rama Chandra, Krishna,
ਕੇਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਨਨ ਸਿਵ ਬਿਸਨਾ ॥
kete chaturaanan siv bisanaa |There are Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu.
ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰਜ ਏ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥
chand sooraj e kavan bichaare |What are the Moon and Sun views?
ਪਾਨੀ ਭਰਤ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰੇ ॥੧੧੬॥
paanee bharat kaal ke dvaare |116|All these fill the door of time with water. 116.
ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਏ ਭਏ ॥
kaal paae sabh hee e bhe |All these came into existence only when the call was received
ਕਾਲੋ ਪਾਇ ਕਾਲ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਏ ॥
kaalo paae kaal hvai ge |And when the call was received, they settled down.
ਕਾਲਹਿ ਪਾਇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਅਵਤਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
kaaleh paae bahur avatar hai |Appears again when the call is received.
ਕਾਲਹਿ ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਸੰਘਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੧੧੭॥
kaaleh kaal paae sanghar hai |117|On receiving famine, they are killed by famine. 117.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਸ੍ਰਾਪ ਰਾਛਸੀ ਕੇ ਦਏ ਜੋ ਭਯੋ ਪਾਹਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
sraap raachhasee ke de jo bhayo paahan jaae |(One) who turns into stone when cursed by a monster,
ਤਾਹਿ ਕਹਤ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਰ ਤੈ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਲਜਾਇ ॥੧੧੮॥
taeh kahat paramesr tai man meh nahee lajaae |118|Calling him God, (this) does not come to mind. 118.
