ਚਉਦਹ ਲੋਕਨ ਬੀਚ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਤੋ ਸਮ ਰਾਜ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
chaudah lokan beech kahiyo prabh to sam raaj na koaoo banaayo |“O king! there is no other king like you in all the fourteen worlds, this has been said by the Lord
ਤਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਬੀਰਨ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਤੈ ਸੁ ਭਲੋ ਕੀਯੋ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੋ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥
taahee te beeran kee man tai su bhalo keeyo sayaam so judh machaayo |“Therefore you have waged your dreadful war with Krishna like heroes
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਮੁਨਿ ਕੀ ਬਤੀਆ ਸੁਨਿ ਭੂਪ ਘਨੋ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੬੯੩॥
sayaam kahai mun kee bateea sun bhoop ghano man mai sukh paayo |1693|” Hearing the words of the sage, the king was extremely pleased in his mind.1693.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਅਭਿਬੰਦਨ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੀਯੋ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੋ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿ ॥
abhibandan bhoopat keeyo naarad ko pahichaan |Recognising Narada, the king gave a ceremonious welcome to the sage
ਮੁਨਿਪਤਿ ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਦੀਆ ਜੁਧ ਕਰੋ ਬਲਵਾਨ ॥੧੬੯੪॥
munipat ih upades deea judh karo balavaan |1694|Then Narada instructed the king about waging the war.1694.
ਇਤ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਨਾਰਦ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਖਾਨ ॥
eit bhoopat naarad mile prem bhagat kee khaan |Here, the king has found Narada, a form of devotion to love
ਉਤ ਮਹੇਸ ਚਲਿ ਤਹ ਗਏ ਜਹ ਠਾਢੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੧੬੯੫॥
aut mahes chal tah ge jah tthaadte bhagavaan |1695|On this side, the king as king of devotion met Narada and on that side Shiva reached there, where Krishna was standing.1695.

ਇਤੇ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਮਨਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਓ ॥
eite rudr man mantr bichaario |Here Rudra thought in his mind
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਓ ॥
sree jadupat ke nikatt uchaario |And went to Sri Krishna and said
ਅਬ ਹੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਹਿ ਆਇਸ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
ab hee mriteh aaeis deejai |That just now let Mritu-deva,
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਭੂਪ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧੬੯੬॥
tab ih bhoop maar kai leejai |1696|Reflecting in his mind, Shiva said to Krishna, “Commend death now to kill the king.1696.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਸਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਮੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਧਰਿ ਇਹ ਤੁਮ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
sar apane mai mrit dhar ih tum karahu upaae |(Offer the tip of the bow) to Mritu-Deva in your arrow; You do the same.
ਅਬ ਕਸਿ ਕੈ ਧਨੁ ਛਾਡੀਏ ਭੂਲੇ ਬਡਿ ਅਨਿਆਇ ॥੧੬੯੭॥
ab kas kai dhan chhaaddee bhoole badd aniaae |1697|“Take the step of getting Death seated in your arrow and pulling the bow, discharge the arrow so that this king may forget doing all acts of injustice.”1697.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਸੋਈ ਕਾਮ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
soee kaam sayaam joo keeno |Sri Krishna has done the same thing
ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਸਿਵ ਜੂ ਕਹਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
jih bidh so siv joo keh deeno |Krishna acted according to the suggestion of Shiva
ਤਬ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੋ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
tab chitavan har mrit ko keeyo |Then Krishna remembered Mritu-deva
ਮੀਚ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਯੋ ॥੧੬੯੮॥
meech aae kai darasan deeyo |1698|Krishna thought of death and the god of death manifested himself.1698.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਕਹਿਓ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਜੂ ਮੋ ਸਰ ਮੈ ਕਰ ਬਾਸੁ ॥
kahio mrit ko krisan joo mo sar mai kar baas |Sri Krishna said to Mritu-Deva, You should reside in my arrow.
ਅਬ ਛਾਡਤ ਹੋ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਇ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੧੬੯੯॥
ab chhaaddat ho satr pai jaae karahu tih naas |1699|Krishna said to the god of death, “Abide in my arrow and on my discharging the arrow, you may destroy the enemy.”1699.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਦੇਵ ਬਧੂਨ ਕੈ ਨੈਨ ਕਟਾਛ ਬਿਲੋਕਤ ਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਚਿਤ ਲੁਭਾਯੋ ॥
dev badhoon kai nain kattaachh bilokat hee nrip chit lubhaayo |The king was allured by the side-glances of the heavenly damseld
ਨਾਰਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਾਤਨ ਕੇ ਉਰਝਾਯੋ ॥
naarad braham duhoon mil kai ran mai sang baatan ke urajhaayo |On this side Narada and Brahma together engrossed the king in their talk
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਤਬੈ ਲਖਿ ਘਾਤ ਭਲੀ ਅਰਿ ਮਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
sayaam tabai lakh ghaat bhalee ar maaran ko mrit baan chalaayo |Seeing a good opportunity, Sri Krishna immediately released the arrow of Mritu Dev to kill the enemy.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਬਲ ਸੋ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਤਬ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥੧੭੦੦॥
mantran ke bal so chhal so tab bhoopat ko sir kaatt giraayo |1700|At the same time, seeing a good opportunity, Krishna discharged his death-arrow and with the force of mantras deceptively caused the head of the king to fall down.1700.
ਜਦਿਪਿ ਸੀਸ ਕਟਿਓ ਨ ਹਟਿਓ ਗਹਿ ਕੇਸਨਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਓਰਿ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
jadip sees kattio na hattio geh kesan te har or chalaayo |Though the head of the king was cut, but still he remained stable and catching his head from his hair, he threw it towards Krishna
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਦਿਵਿ ਆਨਨ ਕਾਜ ਬਿਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਪੈ ਆਯੋ ॥
maanahu praan chaliyo div aanan kaaj bidaa brijaraaj pai aayo |It seemed as if his pranas (vital force) had reached Krishna in order to bid farewell to him
ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਲਾਗ ਗਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਉਰਿ ਮੂਰਛ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਪਗੁ ਨ ਠਹਰਾਯੋ ॥
so sir laag gayo har ke ur moorachh hvai pag na tthaharaayo |That head hit Krishna and he could not keep standing
ਦੇਖਹੁ ਪਉਰਖ ਭੂਪ ਕੇ ਮੁੰਡ ਕੋ ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥੧੭੦੧॥
dekhahu paurakh bhoop ke mundd ko sayandan te prabh bhoom giraayo |1701|He fell down unconscious, see the bravery of the head of the king, on being hit by it, the Lord (Krishna) fell down from his chariot on the earth.1701.
ਭੂਪਤ ਜੈਸੋ ਸੁ ਪੌਰਖ ਕੀਨੋ ਹੈ ਤੈਸੀ ਕਰੀ ਨ ਕਿਸੀ ਕਰਨੀ ॥
bhoopat jaiso su pauarakh keeno hai taisee karee na kisee karanee |No one (else) has done the kind of bravery that the king has done.
ਲਖਿ ਜਛਨਿ ਕਿਨਰੀ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੀ ਨਭ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਦੇਵਨ ਕੀ ਘਰਨੀ ॥
lakh jachhan kinaree reejh rahee nabh mai sabh devan kee gharanee |The king Kharag Singh exhibited extraordinary bravery, seeing which the women of Yakshas, Kinnars and gods are allured
ਮ੍ਰਿਦ ਬਾਜਤ ਬੀਨ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਉਪੰਗ ਮੁਚੰਗ ਲੀਏ ਉਤਰੀ ਧਰਨੀ ॥
mrid baajat been mridang upang muchang lee utaree dharanee |And Bean, Mridanga, Upang, Muchang (held in hand) have come down to the earth making soft tones.
ਨਭ ਨਾਚਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਰੀਝਿ ਰਿਝਾਵਤ ਯੌ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਬਰਨੀ ॥੧੭੦੨॥
nabh naachat gaavat reejh rijhaavat yau upamaa kab ne baranee |1702|They descended on the earth playing on their musical instruments like lyres, drums etc., and all are showing their pleasure by dancing and singing and making others pleased.1702.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਨਭ ਤੇ ਉਤਰੀ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਸਕਲ ਲੀਏ ਸੁਰ ਸਾਜ ॥
nabh te utaree sundaree sakal lee sur saaj |Beauties have come down from the sky with all the instruments of the gods.
ਕਵਨ ਹੇਤ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਬਰਬੇ ਕਾਜ ॥੧੭੦੩॥
kavan het kab sayaam keh bhoopat barabe kaaj |1703|The beautiful damsels came down from the sky aft3er embellishing themselves and the poet says that the objects of their coming was to wed the king.1703.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਮੁੰਡ ਬਿਨਾ ਤਬ ਰੁੰਡ ਸੁ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
mundd binaa tab rundd su bhoopat ko chit mai at kop badtaayo |Then the torso of the king without the head has increased the anger in Chit.
ਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ ਭਾਨੁ ਜੁ ਠਾਢੇ ਹੁਤੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
dvaadas bhaan ju tthaadte hute kab sayaam kahai tih aoopar dhaayo |The headless king was extremely enraged in his mind and advanced towards the twelve Suryas
ਭਾਜਿ ਗਏ ਕਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸੋਊ ਸਿਵ ਠਾਢੋ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਊਪਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
bhaaj ge kar traas soaoo siv tthaadto rahiyo tih aoopar aayo |They all ran away from that place, but Shiva kept standing there and fell upon him
ਸੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬੀਰ ਮਹਾ ਰਨਧੀਰ ਚਟਾਕਿ ਚਪੇਟ ਦੈ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰਾਯੋ ॥੧੭੦੪॥
so nrip beer mahaa ranadheer chattaak chapett dai bhoom giraayo |1704|But that mightly one caused Shiva to fall on the ground with his blow.1704.
ਏਕਨ ਮਾਰਿ ਚਪੇਟਨ ਸਿਉ ਅਰੁ ਏਕਨ ਕੋ ਧਮਕਾਰ ਗਿਰਾਵੈ ॥
ekan maar chapettan siau ar ekan ko dhamakaar giraavai |Someone fell with his blow and someone with the thumping of that blow
ਚੀਰ ਕੈ ਏਕਨਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਦਏ ਗਹਿ ਏਕਨ ਕੋ ਨਭਿ ਓਰਿ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥
cheer kai ekan ddaar de geh ekan ko nabh or chalaavai |He ripped and threw someone towards the sky
ਬਾਜ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਜਨ ਲੈ ਰਥ ਸਿਉ ਰਥ ਅਉ ਗਜ ਸਿਉ ਗਜਰਾਜ ਬਜਾਵੈ ॥
baaj siau baajan lai rath siau rath aau gaj siau gajaraaj bajaavai |He caused the horses to collide with horses, the chariots to collide with chariots and the elephants to collide with the elephants
