ਅਧਿਕ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੌ ਰੂਪ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਜਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
adhik nripat kau roop jagat mai jaaniyai |The beauty of the king was highly regarded in the world.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੂਰਜ ਕੈ ਮਦਨ ਪਛਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
eindr chandr sooraj kai madan pachhaaniyai |Indra, Chandra, Surya and Kama were considered to be Gods.
ਜੋ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਤਾ ਕਹ ਭਰਿ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਈ ॥
jo tarunee taa kah bhar nain nihaaree |The woman who looked at him with full eyes,
ਹੋ ਲੋਗ ਲਾਜ ਕੁਲ ਕਾਨਿ ਸੁ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਸਾਰਈ ॥੨॥
ho log laaj kul kaan su sakal bisaaree |2|She forgets the hunger of all people and people. 2.
ਇਕ ਛਬਿ ਮਾਨ ਮੰਜਰੀ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਕੀ ॥
eik chhab maan manjaree duhitaa saahu kee |(There) was the daughter of a Shah named Chhabi Man Manjari.
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਮਾਝ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਛਬਿ ਮਾਹ ਕੀ ॥
jaanuk jag ke maajh pragatt chhab maah kee |(It seemed) as if the beauty of the moon ('month') had appeared in the world.
ਛਤ੍ਰ ਕੇਤੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਬ ਤਵਨਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
chhatr ket raajaa jab tavan nihaariyo |When he saw King Chhatra Ketu,
ਹੋ ਜਾਨੁਕ ਤਾਨਿ ਕਮਾਨ ਮਦਨ ਸਰ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੩॥
ho jaanuk taan kamaan madan sar maariyo |3|(So it seemed like this) as if Kam Dev had drawn the bow and shot the arrow. 3.
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਮਦਨ ਕੇ ਬਸਿ ਭਈ ॥
nirakh nripat ko roop madan ke bas bhee |Seeing the form of the king, (she) became obsessed with lust
ਲੋਕ ਲਾਜ ਕੁਲ ਕਾਨਿ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਗਈ ॥
lok laaj kul kaan bisar sabh hee gee |And all the folk-lodges and the customs of the whole were forgotten.
ਬਧੀ ਬਿਰਹ ਕੇ ਬਾਨ ਰਹੀ ਬਿਸਮਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
badhee birah ke baan rahee bisamaae kai |Pierced by Birhon's arrow, she was shocked.
ਹੋ ਜਨੁਕ ਫੂਲ ਪਰ ਭਵਰ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਉਰਝਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੪॥
ho januk fool par bhavar rahiyo urajhaae kai |4|(It was appearing) as if the brown flower was lying on the flower. 4.
ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਹੇਰਿ ਪਾਨ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਕਰੈ ॥
pratham nripat ko her paan bahuro karai |First she used to see the king and then she would drink something.
ਰਹੈ ਚਖਨ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਨ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕੌ ਟਰੈ ॥
rahai chakhan kar chaar na it ut kau ttarai |She used to keep her eyes fixed (on him) and did not move here and there.
ਆਸਿਕ ਕੀ ਜ੍ਯੋ ਠਾਢਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਚਿਰ ਰਹੈ ॥
aasik kee jayo tthaadt bahut hvai chir rahai |(She) used to stand like a lover for a long time
ਹੋ ਮੋਹ ਭਜੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਯੌ ਕਹੈ ॥੫॥
ho moh bhaje nrip raaj chit mai yau kahai |5|And in the chit she used to say that the king (somehow) should join me.5.
ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਤਵਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥
ek divas nrip raaj tavan triy ko lahiyo |One day the king saw that woman
ਮੁਹਿ ਉਪਰ ਅਟਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਯੌ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥
muhi upar attakee triy yau chit mai kahiyo |And thought in my mind that this woman is stuck on me.
ਜੋ ਇਛਾ ਇਹ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕੀਜਿਯੈ ॥
jo ichhaa ih karai su pooran keejiyai |Whatever it desires, it should be fulfilled.
ਹੋ ਜੌ ਮਾਗੈ ਰਤਿ ਦਾਨ ਤੌ ਸੋਈ ਦੀਜਿਯੈ ॥੬॥
ho jau maagai rat daan tau soee deejiyai |6|If you ask for alms, you should also give it. 6.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਇਹ ਸਭ ਬਾਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੀ ॥
eih sabh baat nripat pahichaanee |The king understood all this,
ਵਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸੌ ਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥
vaa triy sau neh pragatt bakhaanee |But don't tell that woman clearly.
ਭੂਪਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਬਲਾ ਅਕੁਲਾਈ ॥
bhoopat bin abalaa akulaaee |The woman became distraught without the king
ਏਕ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਤਹਾ ਪਠਾਈ ॥੭॥
ek sahacharee tahaa patthaaee |7|And sent a friend there (to the king).7.
ਹਮ ਬੇਧੇ ਤਵ ਬਿਰਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਬਰ ॥
ham bedhe tav birah nripat bar |O great king! I am the fundi of your soul.
ਮੋਰਿ ਬਿਨਤਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
mor binat sun lehu sravan dhar |Listen to my request.
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਮੋ ਸੌ ਰਤਿ ਕਰਿਯੈ ॥
lapatt lapatt mo sau rat kariyai |Play around with me
ਕਾਮ ਤਪਤਿ ਪਿਯ ਮੋਰ ਨਿਵਰਿਯੈ ॥੮॥
kaam tapat piy mor nivariyai |8|And oh dear! Extinguish my lust. 8.
ਜਬ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jab ih bhaat nripat sun paaee |When the king heard this
ਪਤ੍ਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪਠਾਈ ॥
patree triy prat bahur patthaaee |Then he sent a letter to the woman.
ਜੌ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਨਾਥ ਕਹ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
jau too pratham naath kah maarai |(It was written in that letter) If you kill your husband first
ਤਿਹ ਪਾਛੇ ਮੁਹਿ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੯॥
tih paachhe muhi saath bihaarai |9|(Then) have fun with me after that. 9.
ਜੁ ਕਛੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਮਝਾਈ ॥
ju kachh kahiyo tih nrip samajhaaee |The king explained to him by saying,
ਸੁ ਕਛੁ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸੌ ਸਖੀ ਜਤਾਈ ॥
su kachh kuar sau sakhee jataaee |That (all) the Sakhi told the virgin.
ਜੌ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਸਾਹੁ ਕਹ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
jau too pratham saahu kah maarai |If you kill the Shah (husband) first,
ਤੌ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੧੦॥
tau raajaa ke saath bihaarai |10|So behave with the king. 10.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |dual:
ਯੌ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਰ ਮੋ ਸੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਨਾਥ ਕੌ ਘਾਇ ॥
yau nrip bar mo so kahiyo pratham naath kau ghaae |The best king has told me to kill the husband first
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਧਾਮ ਬਸਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਆਇ ॥੧੧॥
bahur hamaaree naar hvai dhaam basahu tum aae |11|And then becoming my wife you come to my house and live. 11.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
chauapee |twenty four:
ਜਬ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jab ih bhaat tarun sun paaee |When the woman heard this,
ਚਿਤ ਕੈ ਬਿਖੈ ਇਹੈ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥
chit kai bikhai ihai tthaharaaee |(So) took this decision in mind
ਮੈ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਸਾਹ ਕੋ ਮਾਰੌ ॥
mai ih pratham saah ko maarau |That first I will kill this Shah
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰੌ ॥੧੨॥
nrip triy hvai nrip saath bihaarau |12|And then I will become the king's wife and have sex with him. 12.
ਵਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੌ ਧਾਮ ਬੁਲਾਇਸਿ ॥
vaa raajaa kau dhaam bulaaeis |(He) called that king home
ਅਧਿਕ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਿਤ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਇਸਿ ॥
adhik maan hit bhog kamaaeis |And joined him with great interest.
ਗਹਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਜਾਘ ਮਹਿ ਧਰੈ ॥
geh drirr duhoon jaagh meh dharai |He held (him) firmly in both legs
