ਕਹਿਓ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਪਨ ਬਿਪ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਤੇ ਜਾਤ ਲਹਿਓ ॥੨੩੧੮॥
kahio fir aapan bip ko roop dhario nahee kaahoo te jaat lahio |2318|He himself assumed such a garb, that he may not be recognised by anyone.2318.
ਬਾਮਨ ਭੇਖ ਜਬੈ ਧਰਿ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੰਧਿ ਜਰਾ ਕੇ ਗਏ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
baaman bhekh jabai dhar kai nrip sandh jaraa ke ge nrip jaanee |When the king went to Jarasandha in the guise of a Brahmin, the king recognized him.
ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਵਡੇ ਭੁਜ ਦੰਡ ਸੁ ਛਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਰੀਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥
nain nihaar vadde bhuj dandd su chhatrin kee sabh reet pachhaanee |When adopting the guise of a Brahmin, all of them went to the king Jarasandh, he, seeing long arms recognised them as Kshatriyas
ਤੇਈਸ ਬਾਰ ਭਿਰਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਸੋਊ ਹੈ ਜਿਹ ਦੁਆਰਵਤੀ ਰਜਧਾਨੀ ॥
teees baar bhiriyo ham so soaoo hai jih duaaravatee rajadhaanee |It has fought us three times, it is the one whose capital is Dwarika.
ਭੇਦ ਲਹਿਯੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਛਲਿ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਆਯੋ ਹੈ ਗੋਕੁਲ ਨਾਥ ਗੁਮਾਨੀ ॥੨੩੧੯॥
bhed lahiyo sabh hee chhal kai ih aayo hai gokul naath gumaanee |2319|He also recognised that he is the same person who has fought with him from Dwarka for twenty-three times and the same Krishna has come to deceive him.2319.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਆਪਨ ਹੀ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
sayaam joo aapan hee utth kai ih bhoopat ko ih bhaat sunaayo |Sri Krishna himself got up and told that king thus (saying).
ਤੇਈਸ ਬੇਰ ਭਜਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਕੌ ਤ੍ਵੈ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਰ ਭਜਾਯੋ ॥
teees ber bhajiyo har siau har kau tvai ek hee baar bhajaayo |Krishna himself stood and said to the king, “You have fled for twenty-three times in front of Krishna and only once you have caused him to run away
ਏਤੇ ਪੈ ਬੀਰ ਕਹਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਇਹੈ ਹਮਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਪੈ ਅਬ ਆਯੋ ॥
ete pai beer kahaavat hai su ihai hamare chit pai ab aayo |“This thought has come to my mind that on this you are calling yourself a hero
ਬਾਮਨ ਹੁਇ ਤੁਹਿ ਸੇ ਸੰਗ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਕੇ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੈ ਕਰ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥੨੩੨੦॥
baaman hue tuhi se sang chhatree ke chaahat hai kar judh machaayo |2320|We, being Brahmins, want to fight with Kshatiya like you.2320.
ਬਲਿ ਮਾਪਿ ਕੈ ਦੇਹ ਦਈ ਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਹੋਰ ਰਹੇ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
bal maap kai deh dee har kau sabh hor rahe na bichaar keeyo |The (king) had measured (his) body and given it to Vishnu.
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਕਾ ਤਨੁ ਹੈ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸੋ ਭਿਛੁਕ ਮਾਗਤ ਦੇਹ ਬੀਯੋ ਨ ਬੀਯੋ ॥
kahiyo kaa tan hai bhagavaan so bhichhuk maagat deh beeyo na beeyo |“The king Bali, without any other thought, gave his body to the Lord-god thinking that it was only the Lord who was standing at his door like begger and none else
ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੂ ਰਾਵਨ ਮਾਰ ਕੈ ਰਾਜੁ ਭਿਭੀਛਨ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਨ ਲੀਯੋ ॥
sun raam joo raavan maar kai raaj bhibheechhan dehi tih te na leeyo |“Rama gave kingdom to Vibhishana after killing Ravana and did not get it back from him
ਹਮ ਰੇ ਅਬ ਮਾਗਤ ਹੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਿਉ ਚੁਪ ਠਾਨਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸੁਕਚਾਤ ਹੀਯੋ ॥੨੩੨੧॥
ham re ab maagat hai nrip kiau chup tthaan rahio sukachaat heeyo |2321|Now my companions who are kings, are begging your person and you are standing there silently and hesitatingly.2321.
ਦੇਖਿ ਦਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਸੁਤ ਸੂਰਜ ਚਿਤ ਬਿਖੈ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਕੀਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
dekh dayo brahamaa sut sooraj chit bikhai nahee traas keeyo hai |“The god Surya gave his unique power (Kavach-kundal the armour-rings) and even then he was not frightened
ਦਾਸ ਭਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਚੰਦ ਸੁਨਿਯੋ ਸੁਤ ਕਾਜ ਨ ਲਾਜ ਕੀ ਓਰਿ ਧਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
daas bhayo har chand suniyo sut kaaj na laaj kee or dhayo hai |The king Harish Chandra became a servant but his attachment with his son (and wife) could not degrade him
ਮੂੰਡ ਦਯੋ ਮਧੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਰਤੀ ਕੁ ਨ ਸੰਕਤਮਾਨ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
moondd dayo madh kaatt muraar ratee ku na sankatamaan bhayo hai |“Then, Krishna as Kshatriya fearlessly killed the demon mur
ਜੁਧਹਿ ਚਾਹਤ ਹੋ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਬਕਹਾ ਬਲ ਘਾਟ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੨੩੨੨॥
judheh chaahat ho tin te tumaro bakahaa bal ghaatt gayo hai |2322|Now the same Brahmins want to wage a war with you, but it appears that your strength has decilined.”2322.
ਪਛਮ ਸੂਰ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਸੁਨੀਯੈ ਉਲਟੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਗੰਗ ਬਹੀ ਅਬ ਆਵੈ ॥
pachham soor charriyo suneeyai ulattee fir gang bahee ab aavai |The sun can rise from the west, the Ganges can flow backwards,
ਸਤੁ ਟਰਿਓ ਹਰੀ ਚੰਦ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਧਰਨੀ ਧਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਧਰਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਾਵੈ ॥
sat ttario haree chand hoo ko dharanee dhar tiaag dharaa te paraavai |Harish Chandra can fall down from his truth, the mountains can flee and leave the earth,
ਸਿੰਘ ਚਲੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤੇ ਟਰਿ ਕੈ ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਉਡਿਯੋ ਨਭ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
singh chalai mrig te ttar kai gaj raaj uddiyo nabh maarag jaavai |The lion can be frightened by a deer and the elephant can fly but Arjuna said,
ਪਾਰਥ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਭਰੈ ਨਹਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਵੈ ॥੨੩੨੩॥
paarath sayaam kahiyo tab bhoopat traas bharai neh judh machaavai |2323|“I think, if all this happens, the king is so much frightened that he cannot wage a war,”2323.
ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਬਾਚ ॥
jaraasandh baach |Speech of Jarasandh:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਪਾਰਥ ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਜਬੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥
paarath so brijanaath jabai kab sayaam kahai ih bhaat bakhaano |Poet Shyam says, when Sri Krishna addressed Arjan thus,
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਇਹੀ ਇਹ ਪਾਰਥ ਭੀਮ ਇਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਜਾਨੋ ॥
sree brijanaath ihee ih paarath bheem ihai tih bhoopat jaano |When Arjuna said like this to Krishna, then the king thought that they were, in fact, Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਭਜਿਯੋ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਯਾ ਸੰਗ ਹਉ ਲਰਿਹੋ ਸੁ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥
kaanrah bhajiyo ham te ih baalak yaa sang hau lariho su bakhaano |Krishna has fled from me, this (Arjana) is still a child, I fight with him (Bhima), thus (the king) said.
ਜੁਧੁ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਠਾਢੋ ਭਯੋ ਉਠਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਕਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਨ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੨੩੨੪॥
judh ke kaaran tthaadto bhayo utth sayaam kahai kachh traas na maano |2324|He said, “Krishna has fled before me, should I now fight with these children?” Saying this, he stood fearlessly for waging the war.2324.
ਭਾਰੀ ਗਦਾ ਹੁਤੀ ਧਾਮਿ ਘਨੀ ਇਕ ਭੀਮ ਕੌ ਆਪ ਕੋ ਅਉਰ ਮੰਗਾਈ ॥
bhaaree gadaa hutee dhaam ghanee ik bheem kau aap ko aaur mangaaee |There was a very huge mace, in the house the king caused to be brought for himself and gave the other to Bhima,
ਏਕ ਦਈ ਕਰਿ ਭੀਮਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਆਪਨੇ ਹਾਥ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥
ek dee kar bheemeh ke ik aapane haath ke beech suhaaee |He took his mace in his hand and the other mace was given in the hand of Bhima, the fight began
ਰਾਤਿ ਕੋ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਸੁ ਦਿਵਸ ਕਰੈ ਉਠਿ ਨਿਤ ਲਰਾਈ ॥
raat ko soe rahai sukh paae su divas karai utth nit laraaee |At night (both) used to sleep peacefully and wake up during the day to fight daily.
ਐਸੇ ਕਥਾ ਦੁਹ ਬੀਰਨ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੨੩੨੫॥
aaise kathaa duh beeran kee man beech bichaar kai sayaam sunaaee |2325|They used to sleep at night and fight during the day and the story of the battle of both the warriors is related by the poet Shyam.2325.
ਭੀਮ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਭੂਪ ਪੈ ਮਾਰਤ ਭੂਪ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਭੀਮ ਪੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
bheem gadaa geh bhoop pai maarat bhoop gadaa geh bheem pai maaree |Bhima would strike the king with a mace and the king would strike Bhima with a mace.
ਰੋਸ ਭਰੇ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਦੋਊ ਲਰੈ ਕਾਨਨ ਮੈ ਜਨ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
ros bhare balavant doaoo larai kaanan mai jan kehar bhaaree |Bhima strikes the mace on the king and the king given the blow with his mace to Bhima. Both the warriors are fighting in fury with such intensity as if two lions are fighting in the forest
ਜੁਧ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਮੁਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਟਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਜਨੁ ਯਾਰੀ ॥
judh karai na murai tih tthaur te baattat hai tih tthaa jan yaaree |They are fighting and not moving away from their determined places
ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਚਤੁਰੇ ਜਨੁ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਫੁਲਥਾ ਸੋ ਖਿਲਾਰੀ ॥੨੩੨੬॥
yau upajee upamaa chature jan khelat hai fulathaa so khilaaree |2326|It seems that the sportsmen are standing stable while playing.2326.
ਦਿਵਸ ਸਤਾਈਸ ਜੁਧੁ ਭਯੋ ਜਬ ਭੂਪ ਜਿਤਿਯੋ ਬਲੁ ਭੀਮਹਿ ਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
divas sataaees judh bhayo jab bhoop jitiyo bal bheemeh haariyo |After twenty-seven days of fighting, the king became victorious and Bhima was defeated
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਦਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਬਲੁ ਜੁਧ ਕੋ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀ ਓਰਿ ਪਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sree brijanaath dayo tab hee bal judh ko krodh kee or pachaariyo |Then Krishna gave his own strength to him and shouted in anger
ਲੈ ਤਿਨਕਾ ਇਕ ਹਾਥਹਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਚੀਰ ਦਯੋ ਇਹ ਭੇਦ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
lai tinakaa ik haatheh bheetar cheer dayo ih bhed nihaariyo |(Krishna) took a tila in his hand and cracked it. (Bhima) saw (obtained) the secret.
ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਭੀਮ ਨੇ ਚੀਰ ਦਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਯੌ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੩੨੭॥
taise hee bheem ne cheer dayo nrip yau mukh te kab sayaam uchaariyo |2327|He took a straw in his hand and cleaved it and saw towards Bhima with mysterious look, Bhima likewise cleaved the king according to the saying of poet Shyam.2327.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿ ਬਧਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥
eit sree bachitr naattake granthe krisanaavataare jaraasandh badhah prasang samaapatan |End of the description of the killing of Jarasandh in Krishnavatara in Bachittar Natak.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਭੂਪ ਗਏ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਜਹ ਬਾਧੇ ਕਈ ਪੁਨਿ ਭੂਪ ਪਰੇ ॥
maar ke bhoop ge tih tthaa jah baadhe kee pun bhoop pare |After killing Jarasandh, they all went to that place, where he had imprisoned many kings
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਤ ਸੋਕ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਇਤ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਕੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਲਾਜ ਭਰੇ ॥
har dekhat sok mitte tin ke it sayaam joo ke drig laaj bhare |On seeing the Lord, their sufferings ended, but here the eyes of Krishna were filled with shyness (that he could not get them released earlier)
ਬੰਧਨ ਜੇਤਿਕ ਥੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਛਿਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਡਰੇ ॥
bandhan jetik the tin ke sab hee chhin bheetar kaatt ddare |As many bonds as they had, they cut all of them to shreds and threw them away.
ਦਏ ਛੋਰ ਸਬੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਸੋ ਜਬ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਢਰੇ ॥੨੩੨੮॥
de chhor sabai kab sayaam bhanai karunaa ras so jab kaanrah dtare |2328|They were liberated form their restraints in an instant and by the grace of Krishna all of them were released.2328.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਭੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਐਸੇ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
bandhan kaatt sabhai tin ke tin kau brij naaeik aaise uchaaro |Cutting the ties of all of them, Sri Krishna told them thus,
ਆਨਦ ਚਿਤ ਕਰੋ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਸੋਕ ਨਿਵਾਰੋ ॥
aanad chit karo apune apune chit ko sabh sok nivaaro |After freeing them from their bondages, Krishna said to them, “Feeling delight in your mind, without any anxiety,
ਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਜ ਜਿਤੋ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਧਨੁ ਧਾਮ ਸੰਭਾਰੋ ॥
raaj samaaj jito tum jaae kai sayaam bhanai dhan dhaam sanbhaaro |(Poet) Shyam says, Go and take care of (your) wealth and Dham, as much as your kingdom is.
