ਬਨ ਪਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋਊ ਗਨਿ ਸਕੈ ਉਨੈ ਨ ਗਨਿਬੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੯੦੫॥
ban patran koaoo gan sakai unai na ganibo jaae |1905|Kalyavana came with such a powerful and innumerable army and even if one wanted then he could count the leaves of the forest, but it was impossible to count the army.1905.

ਡੇਰੋ ਪਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਜੁ ਜਹਾ ਲਘੁ ਘੋਰਨ ਕੀ ਨਦੀਆ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
ddero parai tin ko ju jahaa lagh ghoran kee nadeea utth dhaavai |Wherever their tents were pitched, there the soldiers rushed forth like the river-flood
ਤੇਜ ਚਲੈ ਹਹਰਾਟ ਕੀਏ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਚਿਤ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਡਰ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
tej chalai haharaatt kee at hee chit satran ke ddar paavai |On account of the speedy and thumping gait of the soldiers, the minds of the enemies were getting fearful
ਪਾਰਸੀ ਬੋਲ ਮਲੇਛ ਕਹੈ ਰਨ ਤੇ ਟਰਿ ਕੈ ਪਗੁ ਏਕ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
paarasee bol malechh kahai ran te ttar kai pag ek na aavai |Those malech (ie soldiers of the past) speak words in Persian (language) and are not going to back down even a step in war.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਕੋ ਟੁਕ ਹੇਰਿ ਕਹੈ ਸਰ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਜਮਲੋਕਿ ਪਠਾਵੈ ॥੧੯੦੬॥
sayaam joo ko ttuk her kahai sar ek hee so jamalok patthaavai |1906|The malechhas were saying in Persian language that they would not retrace even one step in the war and on seeing Krishna, they would dispatch him to the abode of Yama with a single arrow only.1906.
ਅਗਨੇ ਇਤ ਕੋਪਿ ਮਲੇਛ ਚੜੇ ਉਤ ਸੰਧ ਜਰਾ ਬਹੁ ਲੈ ਦਲੁ ਆਯੋ ॥
agane it kop malechh charre ut sandh jaraa bahu lai dal aayo |On this side, the malechhas advanced in great fury, and on the other side Jrasandh came with a huge army
ਪਤ੍ਰ ਸਕੈ ਬਨ ਕੈ ਗਨ ਕੈ ਕੋਊ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਕੋ ਕਛੁ ਪਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
patr sakai ban kai gan kai koaoo jaat na ko kachh paar na paayo |The leaves of the trees can be counted, but this army cannot be estimated
ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਬਾਰੁਨੀ ਪੀਤੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਹ ਹੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੂਤ ਨੈ ਜਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
brij naaeik baarunee peeto huto tah hee tin doot nai jaae sunaayo |The messengers while drinking the wine, told about the latest situation to Krishna
ਅਉਰ ਜੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਡਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਜੈ ਇਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੦੭॥
aaur jo hvai ddar praan tajai it sree jadubeer mahaa sukh paayo |1907|Though all others were filled with fear and agitation, but Krishna felt extremely pleased on listening to the news.1907.
ਇਤ ਕੋਪਿ ਮਲੇਛ ਚੜੇ ਅਗਨੇ ਉਤ ਆਇਯੋ ਲੈ ਸੰਧ ਜਰਾ ਦਲੁ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
eit kop malechh charre agane ut aaeiyo lai sandh jaraa dal bhaaro |On this side, the malechhas rushed forward in great fury, and the other Jarasandh reached there with his huge army
ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਬਨੇ ਮਨੋ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਉਮਡਿਯੋ ਘਨ ਕਾਰੋ ॥
aavat hai gaj raaj bane mano aavat hai umaddiyo ghan kaaro |All were marching like intoxicated elephants and appeared like the rushing dark clouds
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਹਲੀ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰ ਘੇਰ ਲਏ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
sayaam halee mathuraa hee ke bheetar gher le jas sayaam uchaaro |(They) surrounded Krishna and Balarama in Mathura itself. (His) Upma (the poet) Shyam pronounces thus
ਸੇਰ ਬਡੇ ਦੋਊ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਏ ਕਹੁ ਬੀਰਨ ਕੋ ਮਨੋ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਰੋ ॥੧੯੦੮॥
ser badde doaoo gher le kahu beeran ko mano kai kar baaro |1908|Krishna and Balram were surrounded within Matura and it seemed that considering other warriors as children, these two great lions were besieged.1908.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਹਲੀ ਸਭ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਘਨੋ ਚਿਤ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
kaanrah halee sabh sasatr sanbhaar kai krodh ghano chit beech bichaariyo |Balram became highly infuriated and held up his weapons
ਸੈਨ ਮਲੇਛਨ ਕੋ ਜਹ ਥੋ ਤਿਹ ਓਰ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਪਗ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sain malechhan ko jah tho tih or hee sayaam bhanai pag dhaariyo |He advanced to the side where was the army of malechhas
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੀਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੀਰ ਘਨੇ ਘਨ ਘਾਇਲ ਕੈ ਘਨ ਸੂਰਨ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
praan kee bin beer ghane ghan ghaaeil kai ghan sooran ddaariyo |He made many warriors lifeless and knocked down many after wounding them
ਨੈਕੁ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਰਹੀ ਨ ਤਿਨੈ ਇਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੋ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਯੌ ਦਲੁ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੦੯॥
naik sanbhaar rahee na tinai ihu bhaat so sayaam joo yau dal maariyo |1909|Krishna destroyed the enemy’s army in such a manner, that none remained in senses, even slightly.1909.
ਏਕ ਪਰੋ ਭਟ ਘਾਇਲ ਹੁਇ ਧਰਿ ਏਕ ਪਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
ek paro bhatt ghaaeil hue dhar ek pare bin praan hee maare |Someone is lying wounded and someone lifeless on the ground
ਪਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸੁ ਕਟੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਹਾਥ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
paae pare tin ke su katte kahoon haath pare tin ke kahoon ddaare |Somewhere there are lying chopped hands and somewhere chopped feet
ਏਕ ਸੁ ਸੰਕਤ ਹੁਇ ਭਟਵਾ ਤਜਿ ਤਉਨ ਸਮੇ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ॥
ek su sankat hue bhattavaa taj taun same ran bhoom sidhaare |Many warriors in a great suspense fled away from the battlefield
ਐਸੋ ਸੁ ਜੀਤ ਭਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਜੁ ਮਲੇਛ ਹੁਤੇ ਸਭ ਯਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧੯੧੦॥
aaiso su jeet bhee prabh kee ju malechh hute sabh yaa bidh haare |1910|In this way, Krishna became victorious and all the malecehhas were defeated.1910.
ਵਾਹਿਦ ਖਾ ਫਰਜੁਲਹਿ ਖਾ ਬਰਬੀਰ ਨਿਜਾਬਤ ਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
vaahid khaa farajuleh khaa barabeer nijaabat khaa har maariyo |The brave warriors Wahad Khan, Farjulah Khan and Nijabat Khan (named) are killed by Krishna.
ਜਾਹਿਦ ਖਾ ਲੁਤਫੁਲਹ ਖਾ ਇਨਹੂੰ ਕਰਿ ਖੰਡਨ ਖੰਡਹਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
jaahid khaa lutafulah khaa inahoon kar khanddan khanddeh ddaariyo |Krishna killed Wahid Khan, Farzullah Khan, Nijabat Khan, Zahid Khan, Latfullah Khan etc. and chopped them into bits
ਹਿੰਮਤ ਖਾ ਪੁਨਿ ਜਾਫਰ ਖਾ ਇਨ ਹੂੰ ਮੁਸਲੀ ਜੂ ਗਦਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
hinmat khaa pun jaafar khaa in hoon musalee joo gadaa so prahaariyo |Himmat Khan and then Jafar Khan (etc.) are killed by Balram with a mace.
ਐਸੇ ਸੁ ਜੀਤ ਭਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੈਨ ਮਲੇਛਨ ਕੋ ਇਮ ਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੧੧॥
aaise su jeet bhee prabh kee sabh sain malechhan ko im haariyo |1911|Balram struck blows on Himmat Khan, Jafar Khan etc. with his mace and killing all the army of these malechhas, Krishna became victorious.1911.
ਏ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਹਨੇ ਜਦੁਨੰਦਨ ਅਉਰ ਘਨੋ ਰਿਸਿ ਸੋ ਦਲੁ ਘਾਯੋ ॥
e umaraav hane jadunandan aaur ghano ris so dal ghaayo |In this way, getting enraged Krishna killed the enemy’s army and its kings
ਜੋ ਇਨ ਊਪਰ ਆਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੋ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਾਨ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jo in aoopar aavat bhayo grih ko soee jeevat jaan na paayo |Whosoever confronted him, he could not go away alive
ਜੈਸੇ ਮਧਿਆਨ ਕੋ ਸੂਰ ਦਿਪੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੋ ਕ੍ਰੁਧ ਕੈ ਤੇਜ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
jaise madhiaan ko soor dipai ih bhaat ko krudh kai tej badtaayo |Getting brilliant like the noon-sun, Krishna aggravated his ire and
ਭਾਜਿ ਮਲੇਛਨ ਕੇ ਗਨ ਗੇ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਏਕ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥੧੯੧੨॥
bhaaj malechhan ke gan ge jadubeer ke saamuhe ek na aayo |1912|The malechhas ran away in this way and none could stand before Krishna.1912.
ਐਸੋ ਸੁ ਜੁਧ ਕੀਯੋ ਨੰਦ ਨੰਦਨ ਯਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੂਝ ਕਉ ਏਕ ਨ ਆਯੋ ॥
aaiso su judh keeyo nand nandan yaa sang joojh kau ek na aayo |Krishna waged such a war that there was no one left, who could fight with him
ਹੇਰਿ ਦਸਾ ਤਿਹ ਕਾਲ ਜਮਨ ਕਰੋਰ ਕਈ ਦਲ ਅਉਰ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
her dasaa tih kaal jaman karor kee dal aaur patthaayo |Seeing his own plight, Kalyavana sent millions of more soldiers,
ਸੋਊ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਦੁ ਇਕ ਭਿਰਿਯੋ ਨ ਟਿਕਿਯੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਅੰਤ ਕੇ ਧਾਮਿ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
soaoo mahoorat du ik bhiriyo na ttikiyo fir ant ke dhaam sidhaayo |Who fought for a very short time and went to abide in the region of Yama
ਰੀਝ ਰਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇਵ ਕਹੈ ਇਵ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਭਲੋ ਰਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧੯੧੩॥
reejh rahe sabh dev kahai iv sree jadubeer bhalo ran paayo |1913|All the gods, getting pleased, said, “Krishna is waging a fine war.”1913.
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਭਰੇ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਇਕ ਜਾਦਵ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ॥
krodh bhare ran bhoom bikhai ik jaadav sasatran ko geh kai |The Yadavas holding their weapons, getting enraged in their mind,
ਬਲ ਆਪ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਸੂਰ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਕੈ ਜੂਝ ਕੋ ਜਾਤਿ ਤਹਾ ਚਹਿ ਕੈ ॥
bal aap baraabar soor nihaar kai joojh ko jaat tahaa cheh kai |Looking for the warriors equivalent to themselves, are fighting with them
ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਭਿਰੈ ਨ ਟਰੈ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਦੋਊ ਮਾਰੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਬਲੀ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ॥
kar kop bhirai na ttarai tah te doaoo maar hee maar balee keh kai |They are fighting in ire and shouting “kill, kill”
ਸਿਰ ਲਾਗੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਪਰੈ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਤਨ ਭੀ ਗਿਰੈ ਨੈਕੁ ਖਰੈ ਰਹਿ ਕੈ ॥੧੯੧੪॥
sir laage kripaan parai katt kai tan bhee girai naik kharai reh kai |1914|The heads of the warriors on being struck with swords remaining stable for some time, are falling on the earth.1914.
ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜ ਕੋ ਬੀਚ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੈ ਜਬ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਿਯੋ ॥
brijaraaj ko beech ayodhan ke sang sasatran kai jab judh machiyo |When Sri Krishna waged war with weapons in the battlefield,
ਭਟਵਾਨ ਕੇ ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਪਟਵਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਮਨੋ ਆਰੁਣ ਲੋਕ ਰਚਿਯੋ ॥
bhattavaan ke laal bhe pattavaa brahamaa mano aarun lok rachiyo |When Krishna waged a dreadful war in the battlefield, the clothes of the warriors became red as if Brahma had created a red world
ਅਉਰ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਭਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਆਹਵ ਖੋਲਿ ਜਟਾ ਸਬ ਈਸ ਨਚਿਯੋ ॥
aaur nihaar bhayo at aahav khol jattaa sab ees nachiyo |Seeing the war Shiva loosened his matted locks and began to dance
ਪੁਨਿ ਵੈ ਸਭ ਸੈਨ ਮਲੇਛਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਨਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਬਚਿਯੋ ॥੧੯੧੫॥
pun vai sabh sain malechhan te kab sayaam kahai neh ek bachiyo |1915|And in this way none of the soldiers survived from the malechha army.1915.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਲ੍ਯਾਯੋ ਥੋ ਜੋ ਸੈਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਬਚਿਯੋ ਨ ਬੀਰ ॥
layaayo tho jo sain sang tin te bachiyo na beer |(Kal Jaman) who had brought with the army, not a single warrior was left.
ਜੁਧ ਕਰਨ ਕੋ ਕਾਲ ਜਮਨ ਆਪੁ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਧੀਰ ॥੧੯੧੬॥
judh karan ko kaal jaman aap dhariyo tab dheer |1916|None of the warriors accompanying him survived and Kalyanana came himself to flight.1916.

ਜੰਗ ਦਰਾਇਦ ਕਾਲ ਜਮੰਨ ਬੁਗੋਇਦ ਕਿ ਮਨ ਫੌਜ ਕੋ ਸਾਹਮ ॥
jang daraaeid kaal jaman bugoeid ki man fauaj ko saaham |On coming to the war-arena, Kalyavana said, “O Krishna! come forward to fight unhesitatingly
ਬਾ ਮਨ ਜੰਗ ਬੁਗੋ ਕੁਨ ਬਿਯਾ ਹਰਗਿਜ ਦਿਲ ਮੋ ਨ ਜਰਾ ਕੁਨ ਵਾਹਮ ॥
baa man jang bugo kun biyaa haragij dil mo na jaraa kun vaaham |I am the Lord of my army, I have arisen in the world like sun and I am hailed as unique
