ਕਸ ਹੇਰ ਤਲੈ ॥੪੩॥
kas her talai |43|

Sakuntla placed a gold coin on the hand of the king and said, " You look at it and remember." 43.

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜਾਨਿ ਗਏ ॥
nrip jaan ge |

(Seeing the ring) the king knew

ਪਹਿਚਾਨਤ ਭਏ ॥
pahichaanat bhe |

And recognized (Shakuntala).

ਤਬ ਤਉਨ ਬਰੀ ॥
tab taun baree |

Then he took a shower

ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਰੀ ॥੪੪॥
bahu bhaat bharee |44|

The king remembered all and recognised Shakuntala,Then the king solemnised his wedding with her and enjoyed her in various ways.44.

ਸਿਸੁ ਸਾਤ ਭਏ ॥
sis saat bhe |

Seven sons were born (from that wife of the king).

ਰਸ ਰੂਪ ਰਏ ॥
ras roop re |

which were reservoirs of form and rasa.

ਅਮਿਤੋਜ ਬਲੀ ॥
amitoj balee |

(That son) Amit was bright and powerful.

ਦਲ ਦੀਹ ਦਲੀ ॥੪੫॥
dal deeh dalee |45|

She had seven charming sons born to her, who were man of infinite glory and destroyers of enemies. 45.

ਹਨਿ ਭੂਪ ਬਲੀ ॥
han bhoop balee |

By killing the mighty kings of the earth

ਜਿਣਿ ਭੂਮਿ ਥਲੀ ॥
jin bhoom thalee |

Many places were won.

ਰਿਖਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਰਜੀ ॥
rikh bol rajee |

(Then) by calling the Rishis and Rittjas (Brahmins performing 'Rji' yajna).

ਬਿਧਿ ਜਗ ਸਜੀ ॥੪੬॥
bidh jag sajee |46|

They conquered the earth after killing the mighty kings and inviting the sages performed the Yajna. 46.

ਸੁਭ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ॥
subh karam kare |

(Those sons) by doing good deeds

ਅਰਿ ਪੁੰਜ ਹਰੇ ॥
ar punj hare |

Destroyed groups of enemies.

ਅਤਿ ਸੂਰ ਮਹਾ ॥
at soor mahaa |

(They were) great warriors,

ਨਹਿ ਔਰ ਲਹਾ ॥੪੭॥
neh aauar lahaa |47|

The performed good actions and destroyed the enemies and none seems equivalent in bravery to them. 47.

ਅਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਲਸੈ ॥
at jot lasai |

(On his face) a lot of light was shining

ਸਸਿ ਕ੍ਰਾਤਿ ਕਸੈ ॥
sas kraat kasai |

(in front of which) the brightness of the moon is of what use.

ਦਿਸ ਚਾਰ ਚਕੀ ॥
dis chaar chakee |

(Seeing them) all four were surprised

ਸੁਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਛਕੀ ॥੪੮॥
sur naar chhakee |48|

They were lustrous like moonlight and women of gods of all the four directions were pleased to see them. 48.

ROOAAL STANZA

ਗਾਰਿ ਗਾਰਿ ਅਖਰਬ ਗਰਬਿਨ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਰੇਸ ॥
gaar gaar akharab garabin maar maar nares |

Killed billions of arrogant kings.

ਜੀਤਿ ਜੀਤਿ ਅਜੀਤ ਰਾਜਨ ਛੀਨਿ ਦੇਸ ਬਿਦੇਸ ॥
jeet jeet ajeet raajan chheen des bides |

They killed innumerable proud kings and snatching the kingdoms of invincible kings, they killed them

ਟਾਰਿ ਟਾਰਿ ਕਰੋਰਿ ਪਬਯ ਦੀਨ ਉਤਰ ਦਿਸਾਨ ॥
ttaar ttaar karor pabay deen utar disaan |

The mountains were removed and moved in the north direction

ਸਪਤ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਭਏ ਧਰਾ ਪਰ ਲੀਕ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਰਥਾਨ ॥੪੯॥
sapat sindh bhe dharaa par leek chakr rathaan |49|

They went to the North, crossing many mountains and with the lines of the wheels of their chariots seven oceans were formed. 49.

ਗਾਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ਅਗਾਹ ਦੇਸਨ ਬਾਹਿ ਬਾਹਿ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ॥
gaeh gaeh agaah desan baeh baeh hathiyaar |

The countries that could not be conquered by the weapons were taken over

ਤੋਰਿ ਤੋਰਿ ਅਤੋਰ ਭੂਧ੍ਰਿਕ ਦੀਨ ਉਤ੍ਰਹਿ ਟਾਰ ॥
tor tor ator bhoodhrik deen utreh ttaar |

By striking their weapons and roaming on the whole earth and breaking the mountains, they threw their fragments in the North

ਦੇਸ ਔਰ ਬਿਦੇਸ ਜੀਤਿ ਬਿਸੇਖ ਰਾਜ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
des aauar bides jeet bisekh raaj kamaae |

He earned the kingdom in a special form by winning the country and abroad.

ਅੰਤ ਜੋਤਿ ਸੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਥ ਰਾਇ ॥੫੦॥
ant jot su jot mo mil jaat bhee prith raae |50|

After conquering various countries far and near and ruling over them, the king prithu ultimately merged in the Supreme Light.50.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਵਤਾਰੇ ਬਿਆਸ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਥੁ ਕੋ ਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥੨॥੫॥
eit sree bachitr naattak granthe brahamaa avataare biaas raajaa prith ko raaj samaapatan |2|5|

Here ends the reign of King Prithu of Beas, the Brahma avatar of Sri Bachitra Natak Granth.

ਅਥ ਰਾਜਾ ਭਰਥ ਰਾਜ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath raajaa bharath raaj kathanan |

Now the statement of the state of Bharata:

ਰੂਆਲ ਛੰਦ ॥
rooaal chhand |

ROOAAL STANZA

ਜਾਨਿ ਅੰਤ ਸਮੋ ਭਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਥੁ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ਵਤਾਰ ॥
jaan ant samo bhayo prith raaj raaj vataar |

As the end time has come, the state incarnated Prith Raj

ਬੋਲਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਮ੍ਰਿਧਿ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥
bol sarab samridh sanpat mantr mitr kumaar |

Considering his end very near, the king Prithu called for all his assets, friends, ministers and princes

ਸਪਤ ਦ੍ਵੀਪ ਸੁ ਸਪਤ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਨਿ ਬਾਟ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਰੰਤ ॥
sapat dveep su sapat putran baatt deen turant |

The seven lamps were immediately distributed to the seven sons.

ਸਪਤ ਰਾਜ ਕਰੈ ਲਗੈ ਸੁਤ ਸਰਬ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥੫੧॥
sapat raaj karai lagai sut sarab sobhaavant |51|

He immediately the seven continents among his seven sons and they all being to rule with extreme glory.51.

ਸਪਤ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਫਿਰੈ ਲਗੈ ਸਿਰ ਸਪਤ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥
sapat chhatr firai lagai sir sapat raaj kumaar |

Seven umbrellas began to hang over the heads of the seven Rajkumars.

ਸਪਤ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਪਰੇ ਧਰਾ ਪਰਿ ਸਪਤ ਜਾਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥
sapat indr pare dharaa par sapat jaan avataar |

The canopies swung over the heads of all the seven princes and they were all considered as the seven incarnation of Indra

ਸਰਬ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਰੀ ਸਬੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੇਦ ਰੀਤਿ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥
sarab saasatr dharee sabai mil bed reet bichaar |

(They) together practiced the ritual of all the Shastras and the Vedas.

ਦਾਨ ਅੰਸ ਨਿਕਾਰ ਲੀਨੀ ਅਰਥ ਸ੍ਵਰਥ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥੫੨॥
daan ans nikaar leenee arath svarath sudhaar |52|

They established all the Shastras with commentaries according to Vedic rites and held in honour again the significance of charity.52.

ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਅਖੰਡ ਉਰਬੀ ਬਾਟਿ ਲੀਨਿ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥
khandd khandd akhandd urabee baatt leen kumaar |

The princes divided (among themselves) the unbroken land ('Urbi') by breaking it into pieces.

ਸਪਤ ਦੀਪ ਭਏ ਪੁਨਿਰ ਨਵਖੰਡ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
sapat deep bhe punir navakhandd naam bichaar |

Those princes fragmented the earth and distributed amongst themselves and seven continents “Nav-Khand’ (nine regions)

ਜੇਸਟ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਧਰੀ ਧਰਾ ਤਿਹ ਭਰਥ ਨਾਮ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
jesatt putr dharee dharaa tih bharath naam bakhaan |

The elder son, who possessed the earth, was named 'Bharat'.

ਭਰਥ ਖੰਡ ਬਖਾਨ ਹੀ ਦਸ ਚਾਰ ਚਾਰੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥੫੩॥
bharath khandd bakhaan hee das chaar chaar nidhaan |53|

The eldest son, whose name was Bharat, he named one of the region as “Bharat Khand”, after the name of the adept Bharat, who was expert in eighteen sciences.53.

ਕਉਨ ਕਉਨ ਕਹੈ ਕਥੇ ਕਵਿ ਨਾਮ ਠਾਮ ਅਨੰਤ ॥
kaun kaun kahai kathe kav naam tthaam anant |

Which names should be mentioned here by the poet ?

ਬਾਟਿ ਬਾਟਿ ਸਬੋ ਲਏ ਨਵਖੰਡ ਦ੍ਵੀਪ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥
baatt baatt sabo le navakhandd dveep durant |

They all distributed the Nav-Khand continents among themselves

ਠਾਮ ਠਾਮ ਭਏ ਨਰਾਧਿਪ ਠਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
tthaam tthaam bhe naraadhip tthaam naam anek |

The names and places of those who became kings from place to place are many.
