ਕਹ ਲਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕਰੈ ਕਵਨੈ ਕਬਿ ॥
kah lag prabhaa karai kavanai kab |How long can any poet describe her beauty?
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸੂਰ ਸਸਿ ਰਹਤ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਦਬਿ ॥੩॥
nirakh soor sas rahat indr dab |3|Seeing him, the sun, moon and Indra remain subdued. 3.
ਛੈਲ ਛਬੀਲੋ ਕੁਅਰ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
chhail chhabeelo kuar apaaraa |To that extremely handsome and young Kumar
ਆਪੁ ਘੜਾ ਜਾਨੁਕ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
aap gharraa jaanuk karataaraa |As if God had created it himself.
ਕਨਕ ਅਵਟਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਨ ਢਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
kanak avatt saache jan dtaariyo |As if the gold had been refined and molded into a pile.
ਰੀਝਿ ਰਹਤ ਜਿਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਵਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੪॥
reejh rahat jin braham savaariyo |4|Brahma who created (him) is also pleased (by seeing). 4.
ਨੈਨ ਫਬਤ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਸੇ ਕਜਰਾਰੇ ॥
nain fabat mrig se kajaraare |His emerald eyes shone (like the eyes of a deer).
ਕੇਸ ਜਾਲ ਜਨੁ ਫਾਸ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
kes jaal jan faas savaare |Scattering of cases ('jaal') as if gallows (nooses) were set.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਰੇ ਗਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
jaa ke pare garai soee jaanai |(The snares of hair) on whose neck they fall, he alone can know (their effect).
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ਕਹਾ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥੫॥
bin boojhai koee kahaa pachhaanai |5|What can one recognize without knowing what is good? 5.
ਜੇਤਿਕ ਦੇਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਬਿ ॥
jetik det prabhaa sabh hee kab |Of her beauty (the likenesses) all the poets give,
ਤੇਤਿਕ ਹੁਤੀ ਤਵਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਛਬਿ ॥
tetik hutee tavan bheetar chhab |They are intrinsic to her beauty (ie, those similes cannot give an accurate picture of her beauty).
ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਰਿ ਚਿਤਵਹ ਜੋ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
purakh naar chitavah jo taeh |He who sees man and woman,
ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਰਹਤ ਤਬ ਵਾਹਿ ॥੬॥
kachh na sanbhaar rahat tab vaeh |6|Then he (himself) has no care. 6.
ਚੰਚਰੀਟ ਦੁਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਕਾਨੇ ॥
chanchareett dut dekh bikaane |Mamole (birds) are sold seeing (her) beauty
ਭਵਰ ਆਜੁ ਲਗਿ ਫਿਰਤਿ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥
bhavar aaj lag firat divaane |And brownies are still going crazy.
ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਤੇ ਨੈਕ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
mahaadev te naik nihaare |Mahadev saw him a little
ਅਬ ਲਗਿ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਬਸਤ ਉਘਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
ab lag ban mai basat ughaare |7|Until now, he is living naked in the bun.7.

ਚਤੁਰਾਨਨ ਮੁਖ ਚਤੁਰ ਲਖਿ ਯਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਕਰੈ ॥

ਪੰਚਾਨਨ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਸਿਵ ਭਏ ਬਚਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
panchaanan yaa te siv bhe bachaar kar |Shiva also became five-faced with the same thought.
ਹੋ ਸਹਸਾਨਨ ਨਹੁ ਸਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕੋ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਤਰਿ ॥੮॥
ho sahasaanan nahu sakaa prabhaa ko sindh tar |8|Even Sheshnaga with a thousand mouths could not swim the ocean of (her) beauty.8.

ਜੇ ਅਬਲਾ ਤਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ॥
je abalaa tih roop nihaarat |The woman who sees his form,
ਲਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਧਨ ਧਾਮ ਬਿਸਾਰਤ ॥
laaj saaj dhan dhaam bisaarat |She would forget lodge, furniture, wealth, house, etc. (everything).
ਮਨ ਮੈ ਰਹਤ ਮਗਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
man mai rahat magan hvai naaree |Women are engrossed in their minds
ਜਾਨੁ ਬਿਸਿਖ ਤਨ ਮ੍ਰਿਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੀ ॥੯॥
jaan bisikh tan mrigee prahaaree |9|As if an arrow is stuck in the body of a deer (she becomes unconscious) 9.
ਸਾਹ ਜੈਨ ਅਲਾਵਦੀਨ ਜਹ ॥
saah jain alaavadeen jah |Where the Emperor Jain Alauddin (Alauddin Khilji) was,
ਆਯੋ ਕੁਅਰ ਰਹਨ ਚਾਕਰ ਤਹ ॥
aayo kuar rahan chaakar tah |This Kumar came to him to do a job.
ਫੂਲਮਤੀ ਹਜਰਤਿ ਕੀ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
foolamatee hajarat kee naaree |Phulamati was the king's wife.
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਇਕ ਭਈ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧੦॥
taa ke grih ik bhee kumaaree |10|A princess was born in his house. 10.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਰੋਸਨ ਵਹ ਬਾਰੀ ॥
sree dimaag rosan vah baaree |That girl's name was Roshan Demran.
ਜਨੁ ਰਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
jan rat pat te bhee kumaaree |(She was so beautiful) As if she was the daughter of Kama Dev.
ਜਨੁਕ ਚੀਰਿ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
januk cheer chandramaa banaaee |As if the moon had been split (to him).
ਤਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਅਤਿਤਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
taahee te taa mai atitaaee |11|That's why he had a lot of pride in him (meaning - he had a lot of beauty). 11.
ਬੀਰਮ ਦੇ ਮੁਜਰਾ ਕਹ ਆਯੋ ॥
beeram de mujaraa kah aayo |(One day) Beeram Dev came for mujre (salutation),
ਸਾਹੁ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੋ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਚੁਰਾਯੋ ॥
saahu sutaa ko hridai churaayo |So (he) stole the heart of the king's daughter.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਅਬਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
anik jatan abalaa kar haaree |That girl tried hard,
ਕੈ ਸਿਹੁ ਮਿਲਾ ਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ॥੧੨॥
kai sihu milaa na preetam payaaree |12|But that sweetheart somehow did not find a lover. 12.
ਕਾਮਾਤੁਰ ਭੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਗਮ ਜਬ ॥
kaamaatur bhee adhik bigam jab |When (she) Begum became very eager,
ਪਿਤਾ ਪਾਸ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਕਹੀ ਤਬ ॥
pitaa paas taj laaj kahee tab |Then he left the lodge and said to his father,
ਕੈ ਬਾਬੁਲ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਗੋਰਿ ਖੁਦਾਓ ॥
kai baabul grih gor khudaao |Oh father! Or dig a grave in my house
ਕੈ ਬੀਰਮ ਦੇ ਮੁਹਿ ਬਰ ਦ੍ਰਯਾਓ ॥੧੩॥
kai beeram de muhi bar drayaao |13|Or marry me with Biram Dev. 13.
ਭਲੀ ਭਲੀ ਤਬ ਸਾਹ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
bhalee bhalee tab saah uchaaree |Then the king said that (your speech) is good.
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਬੀਰਮ ਕਰ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ॥
musalamaan beeram kar payaaree |But oh dear daughter! First, you convert Biram Dev into a Muslim.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਕਰੌ ਨਿਕਾਹਾ ॥
bahur taeh tum karau nikaahaa |Then you married her,
ਜਿਹ ਸੌ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਲਗੀ ਨਿਗਾਹਾ ॥੧੪॥
jih sau tumaree lagee nigaahaa |14|With which your eyes are fixed. 14.
