ਅਥ ਚੀਰ ਚਰਨ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath cheer charan kathanan |Now begins the description about the removal of clothes
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਨ੍ਰਹਾਵਨਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਜਬੈ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਤਬ ਲੈ ਪਟ ਕਾਨ ਚਰਿਯੋ ਤਰੁ ਊਪੈ ॥
nrahaavan laag jabai gupeea tab lai patt kaan chariyo tar aoopai |When the gopis began to take bath, Krishna ascended the tree taking away their clothes
ਤਉ ਮੁਸਕਯਾਨ ਲਗੀ ਮਧਿ ਆਪਨ ਕੋਇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੂ ਪੈ ॥
tau musakayaan lagee madh aapan koe pukaar kare har joo pai |The gopis smiled and some of them shouted and said to him:
ਚੀਰ ਹਰੇ ਹਮਰੇ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਠਗ ਨਾਹਿ ਕਿਧੋ ਕੋਊ ਭੂ ਪੈ ॥
cheer hare hamare chhal so tum so tthag naeh kidho koaoo bhoo pai |“You have fraudulently stolen our clothes, there is no other thug like you
ਹਾਥਨ ਸਾਥ ਸੁ ਸਾਰੀ ਹਰੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਸਾਥ ਹਰੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਰੂਪੈ ॥੨੫੧॥
haathan saath su saaree haree drig saath haro hamaro tum roopai |251|You have taken away our clothes with your hands and you are capturing our beauty with your eyes.”251.
ਗੋਪੀ ਬਾਚ ਕਾਨ ਜੂ ਸੋ ॥
gopee baach kaan joo so |Speech of the gopis addressed to Krishna:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਇਹ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਸਿਖੇ ਤੁਮ ਬਾਤ ਭਲੀ ਹੈ ॥
sayaam kahiyo mukh te gupeea ih kaanrah sikhe tum baat bhalee hai |Gopis said, “O Krishna! you have learnt this good (for nothing) job
ਨੰਦ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਪਿਖੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੂੰ ਦਿਖੋ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਕੀ ਓਰ ਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਹਲੀ ਹੈ ॥
nand kee or pikho tum hoon dikho bhraat kee or ki naam halee hai |You may see towards Nand, see towards you brother Balram
ਚੀਰ ਹਰੇ ਹਮਰੇ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਡਰੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਕੰਸ ਬਲੀ ਹੈ ॥
cheer hare hamare chhal so sun maar ddarai tuhi kans balee hai |When Kansa will know of it that you have stolen our clothes, then that mighty one will kill you
ਕੋ ਮਰ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤੋਰ ਡਰੈ ਜਿਮ ਕਉਲ ਕਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੨੫੨॥
ko mar hai ham ko tumaro nrip tor ddarai jim kaul kalee hai |252|None will say anything to us the king will pluck you like the lotus.”252.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਾਚ ਗੋਪੀ ਸੋ ॥
kaanrah baach gopee so |Speech of Krishna addressed to gopis:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਦਿਓ ਪਟ ਹਉ ਨਿਕਰਿਯੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੋ ਕੋ ॥
kaanrah kahee tin ko ih baat na dio patt hau nikariyo bin to ko |Krishna said, “I shall not return your clothes till you come out
ਕਿਉ ਜਲ ਬੀਚ ਰਹੀ ਛਪ ਕੈ ਤਨ ਕਾਹਿ ਕਟਾਵਤ ਹੋ ਪਹਿ ਜੋਕੋ ॥
kiau jal beech rahee chhap kai tan kaeh kattaavat ho peh joko |Why all of you are hiding in water and getting your bodies bitten by the leeches?
ਨਾਮ ਬਤਾਵਤ ਹੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਕਛੂ ਡਰੁ ਮੋ ਕੋ ॥
naam bataavat ho nrip ko tih ko fun naeh kachhoo ddar mo ko |The king, whom you are naming, I have not an iota of fear from him
ਕੇਸਨ ਤੇ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਪ ਕੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਧਿ ਈਧਨ ਜਿਉ ਉਹਿ ਝੋਕੋ ॥੨੫੩॥
kesan te geh kai tap kee aganee madh eedhan jiau uhi jhoko |253|I shall dash him (on the ground) by catching him by hair like the faggot thrown in fire.”253.
ਰੂਖਿ ਚਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਰਿਝ ਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਜਬ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਇਹ ਤਾ ਸੋ ॥
rookh chare har jee rijh kai mukh te jab baat kahee ih taa so |When Krishna said this to him (in joy) he climbed even higher on the bridge.
ਤਉ ਰਿਸਿ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਉਨ ਹੂੰ ਇਹ ਜਾਇ ਕਹੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੋ ॥
tau ris baat kahee un hoon ih jaae kahai tuhi maat pitaa so |Saying this, Krishna ascended further on the tree in anger, the gopis, then, being enraged, said, “We shall tell your parents,”
ਜਾਇ ਕਹੋ ਇਹ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਹੀ ਮਨ ਹੈ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਕਹਬੇ ਕਹੁ ਜਾ ਸੋ ॥
jaae kaho ih kaanrah kahee man hai tumaro kahabe kahu jaa so |Krishna said, “Go and say about it to anyone whom you want to say
ਜੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਤੋ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਸਮਝੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਵਾ ਸੋ ॥੨੫੪॥
jo sun koaoo kahai ham ko ih to ham hoon samajhai fun vaa so |254|I know that your mind is not so bold to say anything to anyone if anyone says anything to me, I shall deal with him accordingly.”254.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਾਚ ॥
kaanrah baach |Speech of Krishna:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਦੇਉ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਿਕਰੈ ਨਹਿ ਚੀਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਸਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਸੁਨੋ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
deo binaa nikarai neh cheer kahiyo has kaanrah suno tum piaaree |“O dear ones! I shall not give back the clothes without you getting out of water
ਸੀਤ ਸਹੋ ਜਲ ਮੈ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਹਕ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਆਵਹੋ ਗੋਰੀ ਅਉ ਕਾਰੀ ॥
seet saho jal mai tum naahak baahar aavaho goree aau kaaree |You are uselessly enduring cold in the water
ਦੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਅਗੂਆ ਪਿਛੂਆ ਕਰ ਬਾਰਿ ਤਜੋ ਪਤਲੀ ਅਰੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
de apune agooaa pichhooaa kar baar tajo patalee ar bhaaree |“O white, black, slim and heavy gopis! why are you coming out keeping your hands in front and at the back?
ਯੌ ਨਹਿ ਦੇਉ ਕਹਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤਸਲੀਮ ਕਰੋ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੨੫੫॥
yau neh deo kahio har jee tasaleem karo kar jor hamaaree |255|You ask with folded hands, otherwise, I shall not give you clothes.”255.
ਫੇਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਰਿਝ ਕੈ ਇਹ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਤੁਮ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
fer kahee har jee tin so rijh kai ih baat suno tum meree |Then Krishna said in slight anger, “Listen to my words, forsake your shyness,
ਜੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰੋ ਹਮਰੋ ਕਰ ਲਾਜ ਕੀ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਭੈ ਤੁਮ ਬੇਰੀ ॥
jor pranaam karo hamaro kar laaj kee kaatt sabhai tum beree |Come out of water and bow before me with folded hands
ਬਾਰ ਹੀ ਬਾਰ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਸੋ ਮੁਹਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੀਘ੍ਰ ਕਿਧੋ ਇਹ ਹੇ ਰੀ ॥
baar hee baar kahiyo tum so muhi maanahu seeghr kidho ih he ree |“I am telling you again and again to accept whatever I say quickly, otherwise I shall go and tell everybody
ਨਾਤੁਰ ਜਾਇ ਕਹੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪਹਿ ਸਉਹ ਲਗੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇਰੀ ॥੨੫੬॥
naatur jaae kaho sabh hee peh sauh lagai fun tthaakur keree |256|I am swearing by my Lord accept whatever I say.”256.
ਗੋਪੀ ਬਾਚ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਸੋ ॥
gopee baach kaanrah so |Speech of gopis addressed to Krishna:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਇ ਕਹੋ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪਹਿ ਤੋ ਹਮ ਬਾਤ ਬਨਾਵਹਿ ਐਸੇ ॥
jo tum jaae kaho tin hee peh to ham baat banaaveh aaise |If you go and tell those people (about us), then we will make up a story like this.
ਚੀਰ ਹਰੇ ਹਮਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਦਈ ਬਾਰਿ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਰੀ ਕਢੈ ਹਮ ਕੈਸੇ ॥
cheer hare hamare har jee dee baar te niaaree kadtai ham kaise |“If you go and say anything, we shall also say like this that Krishna had stolen our clothes, how could we come out of water?
ਭੇਦ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਪਹਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਰੈ ਸਰਮਿੰਦਤ ਵੈਸੇ ॥
bhed kahai sabh hee jasudhaa peh tohi karai saramindat vaise |(Your mother) will tell all the secret to Jasodha and will make you ashamed like that
ਜਿਉ ਨਰ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਿਰੀਯਾ ਹੂੰ ਸੁ ਮਾਰਤ ਲਾਤਨ ਮੂਕਨ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੨੫੭॥
jiau nar ko geh kai tireeyaa hoon su maarat laatan mookan jaise |257|“We shall tell everything to mother Yashoda and make you feel ashamed like the one having received good thrashing from women.”257.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਾਚ ॥
kaanrah baach |Speech of Krishna:
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |DOHRA
ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਤਬ ਇਹ ਹਰੀ ਕਾਹਿ ਬੰਧਾਵਤ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
baat kahee tab ih haree kaeh bandhaavat mohi |Krishna said, “You are entangling me uselessly
ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਜੋ ਨ ਕਰੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੨੫੮॥
namasakaar jo na karo mohi duhaaee tohi |258|If youdo not bow before me, then I swear against you.”258.
ਗੋਪੀ ਬਾਚ ॥
gopee baach |Speech of the gopis:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਕਾਹਿ ਖਿਝਾਵਤ ਹੋ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਤ ਕਹਾ ਜਦੁਰਾਇ ਦੁਹਾਈ ॥
kaeh khijhaavat ho ham ko ar det kahaa jaduraae duhaaee |O Lord of Yadavas! Why do you vex us, and why do you suffer?
ਜਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਾਤ ਬਨਾਵਤ ਸੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਹਮ ਹੂੰ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jaa bidh kaaran baat banaavat so bidh ham hoon lakh paaee |The gopis said, “O Krishna! why are you annoying us and swearing on us? The purpose for which you are doing all this, we have also understood it
ਭੇਦ ਕਰੋ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਹਕ ਬਾਤ ਇਹੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਆਈ ॥
bhed karo ham so tum naahak baat ihai man mai tuhi aaee |What you hide from us in vain. What is in your mind (to expose)
ਸਉਹ ਲਗੈ ਹਮ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੀ ਜੁ ਰਹੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੨੫੯॥
sauh lagai ham tthaakur kee ju rahai tumaree bin maat sunaaee |259|“When you have the same idea in your mind (that you want to possess all of us), then why are you quarrelling with us uselessly? We swear by the Lord that we shall not say anything about it to you mother.”259.
