ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
savaiyaa |SWAYYA
ਮੁਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਜਬੈ ਅਸਿ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਬੈ ਜਮਲੋਕਿ ਪਠਾਏ ॥
mur maar muraar jabai as siau tih praan tabai jamalok patthaae |Krishna killed and despatched the demon Mur to the abode of Yama
ਬਾਲ ਕਮਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਨ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਏ ॥
baal kamaan kripaanan so kab sayaam kahai at judh machaae |And waged a dreadful war with bow, arrows and sword,
ਥੋ ਸੁ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਜਿਤੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਸੁ ਸੁਨਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਯੌ ਮੁਰ ਸ੍ਯਾਮਹਿ ਘਾਏ ॥
tho su kuttanb jito tih ko su suniyo tih yau mur sayaameh ghaae |As much as he (the dead demon) had, he heard that the dead demon had been killed by Krishna.
ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਨੀ ਚਤੁਰੰਗ ਘਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਤ ਸਾਤ ਹੀ ਧਾਏ ॥੨੧੨੬॥
lai ke anee chaturang ghanee har pai tih ke sut saat hee dhaae |2126|The family of Mur came to know that he has been killed by Krishna, hearing this, the seven, sons of Mur, taking the fourfold army with them moved to kill Krishna.2126
ਘੇਰਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੌ ਤਿਹ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਤਕਿ ਬਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
gher daso dis te har kau tih sayaam bhanai tak baan prahaare |They surrounded Krishna from all the ten directions and showered arrows
ਏਕ ਗਦਾ ਗਹਿ ਹਾਥਨ ਬੀਚ ਭਿਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
ek gadaa geh haathan beech bhire man ko fun traas nivaare |And taking maces in their hands they all fearlessly fell upon Krishna
ਸੋ ਸਭ ਆਯੁਧ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਸਹਾਰ ਕੈ ਜੋ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਿਸਿ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
so sabh aayudh sayaam sahaar kai jo apune ris sasatr sanbhaare |Having endured the weapons (of their blows on him) from all of them and being angry, he took up his weapons.
ਸੂਰ ਨ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਕੋ ਛੋਰਤ ਭਯੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪੁਰਜੇ ਪੁਰਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੇ ॥੨੧੨੭॥
soor na kaahoon ko chhorat bhayo sabh hee puraje puraje kar ddaare |2127|Enduring the blow of their weapons, when Krishna in fury held up his own weapons, then as a warrior he did not let anyone go away and chopped all of them into bits.2127.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਸੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਹਨੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਾਤੋ ਊ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਭਰੇ ॥
sain nihaar hanee aganee sun saato aoo bhraatar krodh bhare |Seeing the innumerable army slain, (and hearing this news) the seven brothers were filled with rage.
ਘਨਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਪੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਸਭ ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਲੈ ਕਿਲਕਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
ghan sayaam joo pai kab sayaam bhanai sabh sasatran lai kilakaar pare |Seeing the destruction of their army, the seven brothers got enraged and taking up their weapons and challenging Krishna fell upon him
ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤੇ ਘੇਰਤ ਭੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਅਪਨੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨ ਰਤੀ ਕੁ ਡਰੇ ॥
chahoon or te gherat bhe har ko apane man mai na ratee ku ddare |surrounded Sri Krishna from all four sides and (while doing so) did not have the slightest fear in his mind.
ਤਬ ਲਉ ਜਬ ਲਉ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਨਹੀ ਖੰਡਨ ਖੰਡ ਕਰੇ ॥੨੧੨੮॥
tab lau jab lau jadubeer saraasan lai nahee khanddan khandd kare |2128|They surrounded Krishna fearlessly from all the four sides and fought till the time when Krishna taking his bow in his hand chopped all of them into fragments.2128.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
doharaa |DOHRA
ਤਬ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਲੈ ਅਤਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਢਾਇ ॥
tab kar saaring sayaam lai at chit krodh badtaae |Then Sri Krishna got very angry in his mind and held the sarang (bow) in his hand.
ਪੀਟਿ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਭਯਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਦਯੋ ਪਠਾਇ ॥੨੧੨੯॥
peett satr bhayan sahit jamapur dayo patthaae |2129|Then Krishna in extreme rage took his bow in his hand and sent the enemies alongwith all the brothers to the abode of Yama.2129.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

ਭੂਅ ਬਾਲਕ ਤੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਿਯੋ ਮੁਰ ਬੀਰ ਸੁਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਖਪਾਯੋ ॥
bhooa baalak to ih bhaat suniyo mur beer suputr muraar khapaayo |The son of earth (Bhumasura) thus heard that the sons of Mur (demon) had been killed by Krishna.
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੋ ਦਲ ਗਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਸੁ ਸੋਊ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਜਮ ਲੋਕ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
aaur jito dal gayo tin so su soaoo chhin mai jam lok patthaayo |When Bhumasura came to know that Krishna has killed the demon Mur and has also destroyed all his army in an instant,
ਯਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੂਝ ਕੀ ਲਾਇਕ ਹਉ ਹੀ ਹੌਂ ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
yaa sang joojh kee laaeik hau hee hauan yau keh kai chit krodh badtaayo |I alone am worthy to fight with it, thus saying (he) increased the anger in Chit.
ਸੈਨ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਸਭੈ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਸੋ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੁਧ ਕੋ ਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੧੩੦॥
sain bulaae sabhai apunee jadubeer so kaaran judh ko dhaayo |2130|Then thinking of Krishna as a brave fighter, he got infuriated in his mind and marched forward to fight with Krishna.2130.
ਜਬ ਭੂਮਿ ਕੋ ਬਾਰਕ ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਕਉਚ ਸੁ ਸੂਰਨ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
jab bhoom ko baarak judh ke kaaj charriyo tab kauch su sooran saaje |While attacking, Bhumasura began to thunder like warriors
ਆਯੁਧ ਅਉਰ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਸਭੈ ਅਰਿ ਘੇਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਗਾਜੇ ॥
aayudh aaur sanbhaar sabhai ar gher layo brij naaeik gaaje |He held up his weapons and surrounded his enemy Krishna
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਕਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਦਿਨ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਯੋ ਘਨ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ ॥
maanahu kaal pralai din ko pragattiyo ghan hee ih bhaat biraaje |(It appears) as if the day alternations of the Deluge period had appeared and were thus located.
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਅੰਤਕ ਕੇ ਪੁਰ ਮੈ ਭਟਵਾ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਬਾਜੇ ॥੨੧੩੧॥
maanahu antak ke pur mai bhattavaa neh baajat hai jan baaje |2131|He looked like the doomsday cloud and was thundering in this way as if musical instruments were being playing in the region of Yama.2131.
ਅਰਿ ਸੈਨ ਜਬੈ ਘਨ ਜਿਉ ਉਮਡਿਓ ਪੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ ਚਿਤੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਜਾਨਿਯੋ ॥
ar sain jabai ghan jiau umaddio pun sree brijanaath chitai chit jaaniyo |When the enemy army came as a substitute. (So then) Krishna understood in his mind
ਅਉਰ ਭੂਮਾਸੁਰ ਭੂਮ ਕੋ ਬਾਰਕ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਇਨ ਕਉ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਯੋ ॥
aaur bhoomaasur bhoom ko baarak bhoopat hai in kau pahichaaniyo |When the enemy’s army rushed forth like clouds, then Krishna thought in his mind and recognized Bhumasura, the son of the earth
ਮਾਨਹੁ ਅੰਤ ਸਮੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਨੀਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਉਮਡਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਬਖਾਨਿਯੋ ॥
maanahu ant samai nidh neer hee hai umaddiyo kab sayaam bakhaaniyo |The poet Shyam says, (it seems) as if the heart of the ocean had swelled at the end.
ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਹੇਰਿ ਤਿਨੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਨੈਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਡਰੁ ਮਾਨਿਯੋ ॥੨੧੩੨॥
sayaam joo her tine apane chit bheetar naik nahee ddar maaniyo |2132|It appeared that on the doomsday the ocean was surging forth, but Krishna did not fear even slightly on seeing Bhumasura.2132.
ਅਰਿ ਪੁੰਜ ਗਇੰਦਨ ਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਤਾਹਿ ਲਸੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਿਹ ਲੋਕ ਫਟਾ ॥
ar punj geindan mai dhan taeh lasai sabh hee jih lok fattaa |Amongst the gathering of elephants of the enemy’s army, Krishna looked splendid like the bow of Indra
ਬਕ ਕੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੋਪ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਕੀਆ ਮੁਰ ਕੋ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਜਿਹ ਮੁੰਡ ਕਟਾ ॥
bak ko jin kop binaas keea mur ko chhin mai jih mundd kattaa |Krishna had also destroyed Bakasura and chopped the head of Mur in an instant:
ਮਦ ਮਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਦਲ ਆਵਤ ਯੌ ਜਿਮ ਜੋਰ ਕੈ ਆਵਤ ਮੇਘ ਘਟਾ ॥
mad mat karee dal aavat yau jim jor kai aavat megh ghattaa |A herd of drunken elephants was coming as if they were coming with a bundle of change.
ਤਿਨ ਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੀ ਯੌ ਚਮਕੈ ਜਿਮ ਅਭ੍ਰਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਬਿਜੁ ਛਟਾ ॥੨੧੩੩॥
tin mai dhan sayaam kee yau chamakai jim abhran bheetar bij chhattaa |2133|From the frontal side, the group of elephants was rushing forth like the clouds and wihting them the bow of Krishna was shining like lightning among the clouds.2133.
ਬਹੁ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਹਨੇ ਭਟਵਾ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਇ ਚਪੇਟਨ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
bahu chakr ke sang hane bhattavaa bahute prabh dhaae chapettan maare |He killed many warriors with his discus and many other by direct blows
ਏਕ ਗਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਧਾਇ ਹਨੇ ਗਿਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰੇ ਬਹੁਰੇ ਨ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ॥
ek gadaa hee so dhaae hane gir bhoom pare bahure na sanbhaare |Many were killed with the mace and thrown down on the ground and they could not control themselves again
ਏਕ ਕਟੇ ਕਰਵਾਰਿਨ ਸੋ ਅਧ ਬੀਚ ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਰੇ ਭਟ ਨਿਆਰੇ ॥
ek katte karavaarin so adh beech te hoe pare bhatt niaare |Ones have been cut with swords, they are lying scattered in half, cut in half.
ਮਾਨੋ ਤਖਾਨਨ ਕਾਨਨ ਮੈ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਵਤ੍ਰਨ ਸੋ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਡਾਰੇ ॥੨੧੩੪॥
maano takhaanan kaanan mai katt kai karavatran so drum ddaare |2134|Many warriors were chopped into half with the sword and were lying down like the trees chopped by the carpenter in the forest.2134.
ਏਕ ਪਰੇ ਭਟ ਜੂਝ ਧਰਾ ਇਕ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਸਾ ਤਿਹ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਧਾਏ ॥
ek pare bhatt joojh dharaa ik dekh dasaa tih saamuhe dhaae |Some warriors were dead and lying down on the earth and many warrior seeing their such plight came forward
ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਧਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਢਾਏ ॥
naik na traas dhare chit mai kab sayaam bhanai nahee traas badtaae |They were all completely fearless and placing their shield before their faces,
ਦੈ ਮੁਖ ਢਾਲ ਲੀਏ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਨਿਸੰਕ ਦੈ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਕੈ ਊਪਰ ਆਏ ॥
dai mukh dtaal lee karavaar nisank dai sayaam kai aoopar aae |And taking their swords in their hands, they fell upon Krishna
ਤੇ ਸਰ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਹਨਿ ਅੰਤਕ ਕੇ ਪੁਰ ਬੀਚ ਪਠਾਏ ॥੨੧੩੫॥
te sar ek hee so prabh joo han antak ke pur beech patthaae |2135|Only with a single arrow Krishna despatched them all to the abode of Yama.2135.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਜਬੈ ਰਿਸ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਭਟਵਾ ਜਮਲੋਕਿ ਪਠਾਏ ॥
sree jadubeer jabai ris so sabh hee bhattavaa jamalok patthaae |When Shri Krishna got angry and sent all the warriors to Yamloka.
ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਭਟ ਜੀਤ ਬਚੇ ਇਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਸਾ ਡਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਪਰਾਏ ॥
aaur jite bhatt jeet bache in dekh dasaa ddar kai su paraae |When in his fury, Krishna killed all the warriors and those who had survived, seeing such a situation, fled away
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਾਇ ਗਏ ਬਧਬੇ ਕਹੁ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਏ ॥
je har aoopar dhaae ge badhabe kahu te fir jeet na aae |Those who fell upon Krishna in order to kill him, they could not return alive
ਐਸੋ ਉਘਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੀਸ ਢੁਰਾਇ ਕੈ ਆਪਹਿ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਜੁਧ ਕੌ ਧਾਏ ॥੨੧੩੬॥
aaiso ughaae kai sees dturaae kai aapeh bhoopat judh kau dhaae |2136|In this way, in various groups, and moving their heads, the king went to wage war.2136.
ਜੁਧ ਕੋ ਆਵਤ ਭੂਪ ਜਬੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਆਪਨੇ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
judh ko aavat bhoop jabai brij naaeik aapane nain nihaariyo |When Sri Krishna saw the king (Bhumasura) with his own eyes while coming to fight.
ਠਾਢਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਤਉਨ ਧਰਾ ਪਰ ਆਗੇ ਹੀ ਜੁਧ ਕੋ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
tthaadt rahiyo neh taun dharaa par aage hee judh ko aap sidhaariyo |When Krishna saw the king coming to the battlefield, he also did not stay there, but marched forward for fighting
