ਬੇਰੀ ਏਕ ਬੈਠਿ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
beree ek baitth sukh keejai |Let's sit in a boat (you and I) and celebrate happiness
ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਵ ਬੇਸਵਨ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧੨॥
doojee naav besavan deejai |12|And give the second boat to prostitutes. 12.
ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਬੈਠਿ ਨਾਵ ਸੁਖ ਕੈਹੈ ॥
ham tum baitth naav sukh kaihai |Let you and I sit in (one) boat and get happiness
ਇਨ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਤੇ ਗੀਤਿ ਗਵੈਹੈ ॥
ein besvan te geet gavaihai |And sing songs from these harlots.
ਜੋ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਇਨ ਤੇ ਲਖਿ ਲਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥
jo sundar in te lakh lijiyahu |Whichever (you) find beautiful among them,
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਭੋਗ ਰਾਵ ਤੁਮ ਕਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥੧੩॥
taa sau bhog raav tum kijiyahu |13|Hey Rau Ji with him! You should indulge. 13.
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਵ ਅਨੰਦਿਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
so sun raav anandit bhayo |The king was delighted to hear this
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਲੈ ਗਯੋ ॥
triyan sahit besvan lai gayo |And took the harlots there with the queens
ਆਮੂੰ ਜਹਾ ਬਹਿਤ ਨਦ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
aamoon jahaa bahit nad bhaaro |Where a big river called Amu used to flow
ਜਨੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਅਸਟਮ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਵਾਰੋ ॥੧੪॥
jan bidh asattam sindh savaaro |14|(which seemed like this) as if Vidhadata had created the eighth ocean. 14.
ਨੀਕੀ ਨਾਵ ਰਾਨਿਯਨ ਲਈ ॥
neekee naav raaniyan lee |The queen herself kept a good boat
ਬੇਰੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਦਈ ॥
beree buree besvan dee |And gave the defective boat to the harlots.
ਅਪਨੇ ਰਾਵ ਤੀਰ ਬੈਠਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
apane raav teer baitthaariyo |made the king sit beside him.
ਮੂਰਖ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੫॥
moorakh bhed na kachhoo bichaariyo |15|(That) fool could not understand this secret. 15.
ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
tab raanee tin at dhan deeno |Then the queen gave a lot of money to the sailors ('Beriyar').
ਬੇਰਿਯਾਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
beriyaar apane bas keeno |(They) colonized the sailors
ਜਹਾ ਬਹਤ ਆਮੂੰ ਨਦ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
jahaa bahat aamoon nad bhaaro |(And said) Where we have a (fast) flowing river,
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਤਹੀ ਬੋਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਡਾਰੋ ॥੧੬॥
besvan tahee bor tum ddaaro |16|Drown the prostitutes there. 16.
ਅਰਧ ਨਦੀ ਨਵਕਾ ਜਬ ਗਈ ॥
aradh nadee navakaa jab gee |When the boat reached the middle of the river
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਫੋਰਿ ਮਲਾਹਨ ਦਈ ॥
tab hee for malaahan dee |So the sailors broke it.
ਸਭ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਡੂਬਨ ਤਬ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
sabh besvaa ddooban tab laagee |Then all the prostitutes started drowning
ਭਰੂਵਨਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਨ ਕਹ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੧੭॥
bharoovan daso disan kah bhaagee |17|So the maids ('Bharuvani' the wife of Bharui) started running in ten directions (i.e. started running here and there).17.
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਸਕਲ ਗੁਚਕਿਯਨ ਖਾਹੀ ॥
besvaa sakal guchakiyan khaahee |All the prostitutes started eating goats.
ਠੌਰ ਨ ਰਹੀ ਭਾਜਿ ਜਿਤ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
tthauar na rahee bhaaj jit jaahee |(Nearby) There was no place to run away to.
ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ ਰਾਨੀ ਤਬ ਕਰਈ ॥
haae haae raanee tab karee |Then the queen began to say 'hi hi' (and said that)
ਇਨ ਮੂਏ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਹ ਮਰਈ ॥੧੮॥
ein mooe raajaa ih maree |18|This king will also die because of them. 18.
ਰਾਵ ਸੁਨਤ ਇਨ ਕਹੈ ਨਿਕਾਰਹੁ ॥
raav sunat in kahai nikaarahu |Telling the king, save them
ਸਖਿਯਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬੋਰ ਗਹਿ ਡਾਰਹੁ ॥
sakhiyan kahiyo bor geh ddaarahu |And tells the friends to drown them.
ਅਮਿਤ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਬਹਤ ਕਹੂੰ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
amit mridang bahat kahoon jaahee |Somewhere innumerable drummers were playing
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਕਹੀ ਗੁਚਕਿਯਨ ਖਾਹੀ ॥੧੯॥
besvaa kahee guchakiyan khaahee |19|And somewhere prostitutes were eating goats. 19.
ਮੁਰਲੀ ਮੁਰਜ ਤੰਬੂਰਾ ਬਹੈ ॥
muralee muraj tanbooraa bahai |Murlis, Murj and tambourines were flowing.
ਭਰੂਆ ਬਹੇ ਜਾਤਿ ਨਹਿ ਕਹੇ ॥
bharooaa bahe jaat neh kahe |(Many) mercenaries were roaming about, (whom) cannot be described.
ਭਰੂਅਨਿ ਕਹੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰਤ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
bharooan kahoon pukaarat jaahee |Somewhere the wives of the servants were calling
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਰਹੀ ਕਛੂ ਸੁਧਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨੦॥
besvan rahee kachhoo sudh naahee |20|And there was no purification for prostitutes. 20.
ਡੂਬਿ ਡੂਬਿ ਭਰੂਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਮਰੇ ॥
ddoob ddoob bharooaa kahoon mare |Somewhere the robbers had drowned and died.
ਭਰੂਅਨਿ ਉਦਰ ਨੀਰ ਸੋ ਭਰੇ ॥
bharooan udar neer so bhare |Somewhere the stomachs of the wives of the servants were filled with water.
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਏਕ ਜਿਯਤ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਚੀ ॥
besvaa ek jiyat neh baachee |Not a single prostitute was left alive.
ਐਸੀ ਮਾਰ ਕਿਰੀਚਕ ਮਾਚੀ ॥੨੧॥
aaisee maar kireechak maachee |21|Such a blow (as Bhima Sen) inflicted (on him) Krichak. 21.
ਗੁਚਕਿ ਖਾਤ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਜੇ ਗਈ ॥
guchak khaat besvaa je gee |If a prostitute eats goat (saved).
ਟੰਗਰਨਿ ਪਕਰਿ ਬੋਰਿ ਸੋਊ ਦਈ ॥
ttangaran pakar bor soaoo dee |So he was hanged and drowned.
ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਠਾਢ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥
haae haae nrip tthaadt pukaarai |The king stood up and started chanting 'Hai-Hai'
ਕੋ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਤਿਨ ਖੈਂਚਿ ਨਿਕਾਰੈ ॥੨੨॥
ko pahuchai tin khainch nikaarai |22|(And said that) someone should reach there and drag (them) out. 22.
ਜੋ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਕਾਢਨ ਕਹ ਗਯੋ ॥
jo besvaa kaadtan kah gayo |Whoever went to take out the harlots,
ਡੂਬਤ ਵਹੂ ਨਦੀ ਮਹਿ ਭਯੋ ॥
ddoobat vahoo nadee meh bhayo |He also drowned in the river.
ਧਾਰ ਧਾਰ ਭਰੁਅਨਿ ਇਕ ਕਰਹੀ ॥
dhaar dhaar bharuan ik karahee |The wives of the servants were swept away by the (river's) edge
ਡੂਬਿ ਡੂਬਿ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਮੋ ਮਰਹੀ ॥੨੩॥
ddoob ddoob saritaa mo marahee |23|And drowned in the river and died. 23.
ਕੂਕਿ ਕੂਕਿ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਸਭ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
kook kook besvaa sabh haaree |All the prostitutes screamed and lost
ਕਿਨਹੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਨ ਐਂਚਿ ਨਿਕਾਰੀ ॥
kinahee purakh na aainch nikaaree |(But) no man dragged them away.
