There the thousand-armed (Sahasrabahu) boasted (in his mind).
On the other side Sahasarabahu became egoistic on receiving the boon from Rudra (Shiva).2184.
SWAYYA
He, appreciating himself, clapped with all his hands
The king performed austerities according to Vedic injunctions,
And held a Yajna in accordance with the Vedic rites
After pleasing Rudra, he received the boon of protective power.2185.
When Rudra bestowed the boon, the king established the religion in various countries
There was to sin left and the king was praised throughout the world
All the enemies came under the control of the trident of the king and no one raised his head out of fear
The poet says that the people were extremely happy during his reign.2186.
With the grace of Rudra, all the enemies came under his control and no one raised his head
All of them paid the tax and bowed at his feet
Without understanding the mystery of the grace of Rudra, the king thought that this was due to his power only
Thinking about the strength of his arms, he went to Shiva for the grant of the boon of the victory in war.2187.
SORTHA
The fool did not understand the difference and went to Shiva with a desire for war.
Like the blazing sand heated by the sun, that foolish king, without understanding the mystery of his grace, went to Shiva for the grant of the boon of victory in war.2188.
Speech of the king addressed to Shiva:SWAYYA
The king, bowing his head and increasing his love, thus spoke (said) to Rudra.
Bowing down his head, the king said to Rudra (Shiva) with affection, “Wherever I go, no one raises his hand against me
Poet Shyam says, That is why my mind is so tempted to fight.
My mind is eager to wage a war and I request you to bestow on me the boon that someone may come to fight with me.”2189.
