ripan taanan |And struck (Lachman) in the forehead
ਹਣਯੋ ਭਾਲੰ ॥
hanayo bhaalan |And (that) immediately
ਗਿਰਯੋ ਤਾਲੰ ॥੭੭੦॥
girayo taalan |770|Lava, stretching his bow, discharge and arrow toward the enemy, which struck Lakshman on the forehead and he fell like a tree.770.

ਭਾਗ ਗਯੋ ਦਲ ਤ੍ਰਾਮ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
bhaag gayo dal traam kai kai |The army fled in fear-
ਲਛਮਣੰ ਰਣ ਭੂਮ ਦੈ ਕੈ ॥
lachhamanan ran bhoom dai kai |Making a sacrifice of Lakshman in the war, his army, being frightened fled away
ਖਲੇ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ ਹੁਤੇ ਜਹਾ ॥
khale raamachand hute jahaa |Where Ram Chandra stood,
ਭਟ ਭਾਜ ਭਗ ਲਗੇ ਤਹਾ ॥੭੭੧॥
bhatt bhaaj bhag lage tahaa |771|Te warriors reached the place where Ram was standing.771.
ਜਬ ਜਾਇ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਉਨੈ ॥
jab jaae baat kahee unai |When he went and told them about the battle of Lachman
ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤ ਸੋਕ ਦਯੋ ਤਿਨੈ ॥
bahu bhaat sok dayo tinai |When all the events were related to him, he was in great anguish
ਸੁਨਿ ਬੈਨ ਮੋਨ ਰਹੈ ਬਲੀ ॥
sun bain mon rahai balee |Hearing (their) words, Sri Ram (thus) remained silent
ਜਨ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਹਨ ਕੀ ਖਲੀ ॥੭੭੨॥
jan chitr paahan kee khalee |772|Hearing their word the mighty sovereign remained silent like a portrait, becoming like a stone-slab.772.
ਪੁਨ ਬੈਠ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਯੋ ॥
pun baitth mantr bichaarayo |(Sri Ram) then sat and pondered and said-
ਤੁਮ ਜਾਹੁ ਭਰਥ ਉਚਾਰਯੋ ॥
tum jaahu bharath uchaarayo |Then sitting down, he held consultations and addressing Bharat, he asked him to go, saying,
ਮੁਨ ਬਾਲ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਜਿਨ ਮਾਰੀਯੋ ॥
mun baal dvai jin maareeyo |But not to kill those two wise children,
ਧਰਿ ਆਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਰੀਯੋ ॥੭੭੩॥
dhar aan mohi dikhaareeyo |773|“Do not kill the boys of the sages, but bring them and show them to me.”773.
ਸਜ ਸੈਨ ਭਰਥ ਚਲੇ ਤਹਾ ॥
saj sain bharath chale tahaa |After equipping the army, Bharat went there
ਰਣ ਬਾਲ ਬੀਰ ਮੰਡੇ ਜਹਾ ॥
ran baal beer mandde jahaa |Bharat decorating his army marched to the place where the boys were standing ready (for war)
ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤ ਬੀਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਹੀ ॥
bahu bhaat beer sanghaarahee |(They) used to kill the warriors in many ways
ਸਰ ਓਘ ਪ੍ਰਓਘ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਹੀ ॥੭੭੪॥
sar ogh progh prahaarahee |774|They were ready to kill the warriors by striking blows with many types of arrows.774.
ਸੁਗ੍ਰੀਵ ਔਰ ਭਭੀਛਨੰ ॥
sugreev aauar bhabheechhanan |(India) Sugriva, Vibhishana,
ਹਨਵੰਤ ਅੰਗਦ ਰੀਛਨੰ ॥
hanavant angad reechhanan |Alongwith Sugriva, Vibhishan, Hanuman, Angad, Jambvant,
ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੈਨ ਬਨਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
bahu bhaat sain banaae kai |By adding many types of army
ਤਿਨ ਪੈ ਚਲਯੋ ਸਮੁਹਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੭੭੫॥
tin pai chalayo samuhaae kai |775|And with their various types of forces, Bharat went forward towards the brave boys.775.
ਰਣ ਭੂਮਿ ਭਰਥ ਗਏ ਜਬੈ ॥
ran bhoom bharath ge jabai |When Bharata went to the battlefield
ਮੁਨ ਬਾਲ ਦੋਇ ਲਖੇ ਤਬੈ ॥
mun baal doe lakhe tabai |When Bharat reached the battlefield, he saw both the boys of sages
ਦੁਇ ਕਾਕ ਪਛਾ ਸੋਭਹੀ ॥
due kaak pachhaa sobhahee |???
ਲਖਿ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨੋ ਲੋਭਹੀ ॥੭੭੬॥
lakh dev daano lobhahee |776|Both boys looked impressive and both the gods and demons were allured on seeing them.776.
ਭਰਥ ਬਾਚ ਲਵ ਸੋ ॥
bharath baach lav so |Speech of Bharat addressed to Lava :
ਅਕੜਾ ਛੰਦ ॥
akarraa chhand |AKRAA STANZA
ਮੁਨਿ ਬਾਲ ਛਾਡਹੁ ਗਰਬ ॥
mun baal chhaaddahu garab |O wise children! Leave the grub
ਮਿਲਿ ਆਨ ਮੋਹੂ ਸਰਬ ॥
mil aan mohoo sarab |“O boys of the sages! forsake your pride, come and meet me
ਲੈ ਜਾਹਿ ਰਾਘਵ ਤੀਰ ॥
lai jaeh raaghav teer |(I will take you) to Ram Chandra,
ਤੁਹਿ ਨੈਕ ਦੈ ਕੈ ਚੀਰ ॥੭੭੭॥
tuhi naik dai kai cheer |777|“I shall dress you and take you to (Raghava) Ram.”777.
ਸੁਨਤੇ ਭਰੇ ਸਿਸ ਮਾਨ ॥
sunate bhare sis maan |Hearing (Bharat's statement) the children were filled with pride
ਕਰ ਕੋਪ ਤਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ॥
kar kop taan kamaan |Hearing these words the boys were filled with pride and being enraged they pulled their bows
ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਾਇਕ ਛੋਰਿ ॥
bahu bhaat saaeik chhor |Arrows left in many ways,
ਜਨ ਅਭ੍ਰ ਸਾਵਣ ਓਰ ॥੭੭੮॥
jan abhr saavan or |778|They discharged many arrows like the clouds of the month of Sawan.778.
ਲਾਗੇ ਸੁ ਸਾਇਕ ਅੰਗ ॥
laage su saaeik ang |(Whose) body was pierced by arrows
ਗਿਰਗੇ ਸੁ ਬਾਹ ਉਤੰਗ ॥
girage su baah utang |Those, whom those arrows struck, fell down and overturned
ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗ ਸੁਬਾਹ ॥
kahoon ang bhang subaah |Somewhere, the limbs of heroes are cut off,
ਕਹੂੰ ਚਉਰ ਚੀਰ ਸਨਾਹ ॥੭੭੯॥
kahoon chaur cheer sanaah |779|Somewhere those arrows chopped the limbs and somewhere they penetrated through the fly-whisk and armour.779.
ਕਹੂੰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਾਰ ਕਮਾਨ ॥
kahoon chitr chaar kamaan |Somewhere beautifully carved bows (fallen),
ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਜੋਧਨ ਬਾਨ ॥
kahoon ang jodhan baan |Somewhere they created portraits on coming out of the beautiful bows and somewhere they pierced the limbs of the warriors
ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਘਾਇ ਭਭਕ ॥
kahoon ang ghaae bhabhak |(Blood is gushing out from the cracks in the limbs).
ਕਹੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਸਰਤ ਛਲਕ ॥੭੮੦॥
kahoon sron sarat chhalak |780|Somewhere the wound of the limbs burst open and somewhere the stream of blood overflowed.780.
