ਹਸੇ ਮਾਸਹਾਰੀ ॥
hase maasahaaree |

Meat eaters are laughing

ਨਚੇ ਭੂਤ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
nache bhoot bhaaree |

The flesh-eating creatures are laughing and the gangs of ghosts are dancing.

ਮਹਾ ਢੀਠ ਢੂਕੇ ॥
mahaa dteetth dtooke |

Most fearless (warriors to fight) are raised

ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੂਕੇ ॥੩੦॥
mukhan maar kooke |30|

The persistent warriors are moving forward and shouting “kill, kill”.30.

ਗਜੈ ਗੈਣ ਦੇਵੀ ॥
gajai gain devee |

The goddess is thundering in the sky

ਮਹਾ ਅੰਸ ਭੇਵੀ ॥
mahaa ans bhevee |

That goddess hath roared in the sky, who hath been brought into being by Supreme KAL.

ਭਲੇ ਪੂਤ ਨਾਚੰ ॥
bhale poot naachan |

The ghosts are dancing well

ਰਸੰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰਾਚੰ ॥੩੧॥
rasan rudr raachan |31|

The ghosts are dancing excitedly and are saturated with great anger.31.

ਭਿਰੈ ਬੈਰ ਰੁਝੈ ॥
bhirai bair rujhai |

(Veer Sainiks) were fighting full of enmity

ਮਹਾ ਜੋਧ ਜੁਝੈ ॥
mahaa jodh jujhai |

The warriors are fighting with each other because of enmity and the great heroes are falling as martyras.

ਝੰਡਾ ਗਡ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
jhanddaa gadd gaadte |

Flags are waving with determination

ਬਜੇ ਬੈਰ ਬਾਢੇ ॥੩੨॥
baje bair baadte |32|

Fixing their strong banner and with increased enemity they are shouting.32.

ਗਜੰ ਗਾਹ ਬਾਧੇ ॥
gajan gaah baadhe |

Bhukhan is decorated on the head

ਧਨੁਰ ਬਾਨ ਸਾਧੇ ॥
dhanur baan saadhe |

They have adorned their head with the ornament and have stretched their bows in their hands.

ਬਹੇ ਆਪ ਮਧੰ ॥
bahe aap madhan |

They shoot (arrows) among themselves

ਗਿਰੇ ਅਧ ਅਧੰ ॥੩੩॥
gire adh adhan |33|

They shoot their arrows confronting the opponents, some of them fall down, having been chopped into halves.33.

ਗਜੰ ਬਾਜ ਜੁਝੈ ॥
gajan baaj jujhai |

Elephants and horses are also fighting

ਬਲੀ ਬੈਰ ਰੁਝੈ ॥
balee bair rujhai |

The elephants and horses are lying dead and the warriors engaged in enmity

ਨ੍ਰਿਭੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਹੈ ॥
nribhai sasatr baahai |

Fearlessly wield weapons

ਉਭੈ ਜੀਤ ਚਾਹੈ ॥੩੪॥
aubhai jeet chaahai |34|

Fearlessly strike their weapons; both sides wish for their victory.34.

ਗਜੇ ਆਨਿ ਗਾਜੀ ॥
gaje aan gaajee |

The brave warriors are roaring.

ਨਚੇ ਤੁੰਦ ਤਾਜੀ ॥
nache tund taajee |

The warriors are roaring and the swiftly-running horses dance.

ਹਕੰ ਹਾਕ ਬਜੀ ॥
hakan haak bajee |

The challenge is playing

ਫਿਰੈ ਸੈਨ ਭਜੀ ॥੩੫॥
firai sain bhajee |35|

There are shouts and in this way the army is running about. 35.

ਮਦੰ ਮਤ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
madan mat maate |

(The warriors) are intoxicated with wine.

ਰਸੰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
rasan rudr raate |

The warriors are intoxicated with wine and are absorbed in great rage.

ਗਜੰ ਜੂਹ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
gajan jooh saaje |

Elephant herds are decorated

ਭਿਰੇ ਰੋਸ ਬਾਜੇ ॥੩੬॥
bhire ros baaje |36|

The group of elephants are adorned and the warriors are fighting with increased anger. 36.

ਝਮੀ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਗੰ ॥
jhamee tej tegan |

The sharp swords are shining like this

ਘਣੰ ਬਿਜ ਬੇਗੰ ॥
ghanan bij began |

The sharp swords glisten like the flash of lightning in the clouds.

ਬਹੈ ਬਾਰ ਬੈਰੀ ॥
bahai baar bairee |

Enemies' horses move like this

ਜਲੰ ਜਿਉ ਗੰਗੈਰੀ ॥੩੭॥
jalan jiau gangairee |37|

The blows are struck on the enemy like the swift-moving water-insect.37.

ਅਪੋ ਆਪ ਬਾਹੰ ॥
apo aap baahan |

They use arms against each other.

ਉਭੈ ਜੀਤ ਚਾਹੰ ॥
aubhai jeet chaahan |

They strike weapons confronting each other; both sides wish for their victory.

ਰਸੰ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
rasan rudr raate |

Rother is in the rasa.

ਮਹਾ ਮਤ ਮਾਤੇ ॥੩੮॥
mahaa mat maate |38|

They are absorbed in violent rage and are highly intoxicated.38.

ਭੁਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥
bhujang chhand |

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਮਚੇ ਬੀਰ ਬੀਰੰ ਅਭੂਤੰ ਭਯਾਣੰ ॥
mache beer beeran abhootan bhayaanan |

Heroes have become supernatural and fierce fighting heroes.

ਬਜੀ ਭੇਰਿ ਭੰਕਾਰ ਧੁਕੇ ਨਿਸਾਨੰ ॥
bajee bher bhankaar dhuke nisaanan |

The warriors fighting with warriors are looking wonderfully frightening. The clattering sound of kettledrums is heard and there is also the thunder of trumpets.

ਨਵੰ ਨਦ ਨੀਸਾਣ ਗਜੇ ਗਹੀਰੰ ॥
navan nad neesaan gaje gaheeran |

A solemn word comes out with the ringing of new horns

ਫਿਰੈ ਰੁੰਡ ਮੁੰਡੰ ਤਨੰ ਤਛ ਤੀਰੰ ॥੩੯॥
firai rundd munddan tanan tachh teeran |39|

The serious tone of the new trumpets resounds. Somewhere the trunks, somewhere the heads, somewhere the bodies hewed by arrows are seen moving.39.

ਬਹੇ ਖਗ ਖੇਤੰ ਖਿਆਲੰ ਖਤੰਗੰ ॥
bahe khag khetan khiaalan khatangan |

In the battlefield the sword moves, the arrows (Khatang) are bound (Khyalan) by binding (Bouchhar).

ਰੁਲੇ ਤਛ ਮੁਛੰ ਮਹਾ ਜੋਧ ਜੰਗੰ ॥
rule tachh muchhan mahaa jodh jangan |

The warriors strike their swords and care for their arrows in the battlefield. The great heroes, chopped in the war are rolling in dust.

ਬੰਧੈ ਬੀਰ ਬਾਨਾ ਬਡੇ ਐਠਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
bandhai beer baanaa badde aaitthivaare |

Great Akarkhan warriors have decorated the (martyrdom) banners.

ਘੁਮੈ ਲੋਹ ਘੁਟੰ ਮਨੋ ਮਤਵਾਰੇ ॥੪੦॥
ghumai loh ghuttan mano matavaare |40|

The greatly proud warriors, having tied their quivers and equipped with armour move in the battlefield like the drunkards.40.

ਉਠੀ ਕੂਹ ਜੂਹੰ ਸਮਰਿ ਸਾਰ ਬਜਿਯੰ ॥
autthee kooh joohan samar saar bajiyan |

In the war-ground, there is noise everywhere with the clashing of weapons (on each other).

ਕਿਧੋ ਅੰਤ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ਕੋ ਮੇਘ ਗਜਿਯੰ ॥
kidho ant ke kaal ko megh gajiyan |

The weapons were struck and there was confusion all around, it seemed that the clouds of doomsday were thundering.

ਭਈ ਤੀਰ ਭੀਰੰ ਕਮਾਣੰ ਕੜਕਿਯੰ ॥
bhee teer bheeran kamaanan karrakiyan |

The arrows have started to fly and the bows have started to quiver.
