ਜਿਮ ਕਉਾਂਧਿਤ ਸਾਵਣ ਬਿਜੁ ਘਣੰ ॥੨੬॥
jim kauaandhit saavan bij ghanan |26|And this scene looks like the flash of lightning in the thundering clouds of the month of Sawan.26.

ਕਥਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਤੇ ਮੈ ਡਰੋ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੋ ਬਖਯਾਨ ॥
kathaa bridh te mai ddaro kahaa karo bakhayaan |How far should I narrate the story for fear of lengthening the same
ਨਿਸਾਹੰਤ ਅਸੁਰੇਸ ਸੋ ਸਰ ਤੇ ਭਯੋ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੨੭॥
nisaahant asures so sar te bhayo nidaan |27|Ultimately the arrows of Suraj became the reason for the end of that demon.27.
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਅਸਟ ਦਸਮੋ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਮਾਪਤ ॥੧੮॥

ਅਥ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਥਨੰ ॥
ath chandr avataar kathanan |Now begins the description of Chandra Incarnation:
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
sree bhgautee jee sahaae |Let Sri Bhaguti Ji (The Primal Lord) be helpful.
ਦੋਧਕ ਛੰਦ ॥
dodhak chhand |DODHAK STANZA
ਫੇਰਿ ਗਨੋ ਨਿਸਰਾਜ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
fer gano nisaraaj bichaaraa |Then (I) consider the moon (Nisraj).
ਜੈਸ ਧਰਯੋ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਮੁਰਾਰਾ ॥
jais dharayo avataar muraaraa |Now I think about Chandrama, how did Vishnu manifest as Chandra incarnation?
ਬਾਤ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਭਾਖ ਸੁਨਾਊਾਂ ॥
baat puraatan bhaakh sunaaooaan |I tell the old story,
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕਬ ਕੁਲ ਸਰਬ ਰਿਝਾਊਾਂ ॥੧॥
jaa te kab kul sarab rijhaaooaan |1|I an narriating a very ancient story, hearing which all the poets will be pleased.1.

dodhak |DODHAK STANZA
ਨੈਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਾ ਕਹੁ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
naik krisaa kahu tthaur na hoee |There was not even a little agriculture in any place.
ਭੂਖਨ ਲੋਗ ਮਰੈ ਸਭ ਕੋਈ ॥
bhookhan log marai sabh koee |There was not even a little farming anywhere and the people were dying with hunger.
ਅੰਧਿ ਨਿਸਾ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਨੁ ਜਰਾਵੈ ॥
andh nisaa din bhaan jaraavai |After the dark night, the sun used to burn (the fields) by day.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ ਕਹੂੰ ਹੋਨ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
taa te kris kahoon hon na paavai |2|The nights were full of darkness and during the day the sun blazed, therefore nothing grew anywhere.2.
ਲੋਗ ਸਭੈ ਇਹ ਤੇ ਅਕੁਲਾਨੇ ॥
log sabhai ih te akulaane |Eventually all the people became distraught.
ਭਾਜਿ ਚਲੇ ਜਿਮ ਪਾਤ ਪੁਰਾਨੇ ॥
bhaaj chale jim paat puraane |For this reason all the beings were agitated and they were destroyed like the old leaves.
ਭਾਤ ਹੀ ਭਾਤ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
bhaat hee bhaat kare har sevaa |They started serving Hari in various ways,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥੩॥
taa te prasan bhe guradevaa |3|Everyone worshipped, adored and served in various ways and the Supreme Preceptor (i.e. the Lord) was pleased.3.
ਨਾਰਿ ਨ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੈਂ ਨਿਜ ਨਾਥੰ ॥
naar na sev karain nij naathan |Women did not serve their husbands.
ਲੀਨੇ ਹੀ ਰੋਸੁ ਫਿਰੈਂ ਜੀਅ ਸਾਥੰ ॥
leene hee ros firain jeea saathan |(This was the situation at that time) that the wife did no service to her husband and ever remained displeased with him.
ਕਾਮਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕਹੂੰ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਵੈ ॥
kaaman kaam kahoon na santaavai |Women were never sexually harassed.
ਕਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਊ ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੪॥
kaam binaa koaoo kaam na bhaavai |4|The lust did not overpower the wives and in the absence of sexual instinct, all the works for the growth of the world had ended.4.
ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥
tomar chhand |TOMAR STANZA
ਪੂਜੇ ਨ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਾ ਨਾਥ ॥
pooje na ko treeyaa naath |(No) woman did not serve her husband
ਐਂਠੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਜੀਅ ਸਾਥ ॥
aaintthee firai jeea saath |No wife worshipped her husband and always remained in her pride.
ਦੁਖੁ ਵੈ ਨ ਤਿਨ ਕਹੁ ਕਾਮ ॥
dukh vai na tin kahu kaam |Because lust did not hurt them,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨ ਬਿਨਵਤ ਬਾਮ ॥੫॥
taa te na binavat baam |5|She had no grief and did not suffer because of the sexual instinct, therefore, there was no desire for supplication in them.5.
ਕਰ ਹੈ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
kar hai na pat kee sev |(Women) did not serve their husbands
ਪੂਜੈ ਨ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
poojai na gur guradev |Neither she served her husband, nor worshipped and abored the preceptors.
ਧਰ ਹੈਂ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਧਯਾਨ ॥
dhar hain na har ko dhayaan |They did not even pay attention to Hari
ਕਰਿ ਹੈਂ ਨ ਨਿਤ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥੬॥
kar hain na nit isanaan |6|Neither she meditated on Lord-God nor she ever took bath.6.
ਤਬ ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
tab kaal purakh bulaae |Then 'Kal-Purakh' called (Vishnu).
ਬਿਸਨੈ ਕਹਯੋ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
bisanai kahayo samajhaae |Then the Immanent Lord called Vishnu and giving instruction to him, told, him that,
ਸਸਿ ਕੋ ਧਰਿਹੁ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥
sas ko dharihu avataar |Go into the world and assume the 'moon' avatar,
ਨਹੀ ਆਨ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥੭॥
nahee aan baat bichaar |7|Without taking any other thing into consideration, he should manifest himself as Chandra incarnation.7.
ਤਬ ਬਿਸਨ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਇ ॥
tab bisan sees nivaae |Then Vishnu bowed his head
ਕਰਿ ਜੋਰਿ ਕਹੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
kar jor kahee banaae |Then Vishnu bowing his head said with folded hands,
ਧਰਿਹੋਂ ਦਿਨਾਤ ਵਤਾਰ ॥
dharihon dinaat vataar |I am the Chandra (Dinant) avatar,
ਜਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਜਗਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥੮॥
jit hoe jagat kumaar |8|“I shall assume the form of Chandra incarnation, so that the beauty may prosper in the world.8.
ਤਬ ਮਹਾ ਤੇਜ ਮੁਰਾਰ ॥
tab mahaa tej muraar |Then the big fast one
ਧਰਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥
dhariyo su chandr avataar |Then the extremely glorious Vishnu manifested himself as Chandra (incarnation),
ਤਨ ਕੈ ਮਦਨ ਕੋ ਬਾਨ ॥
tan kai madan ko baan |Who drew the arrow of desire
ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਨ ਕਹ ਤਾਨ ॥੯॥
maariyo treeyan kah taan |9|And he shot continuously the arrows of the god of love towards women.9.
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ਦੀਨ ॥
taa te bhee treey deen |Because of this women became humble
ਸਭ ਗਰਬ ਹੁਐ ਗਯੋ ਛੀਨ ॥
sabh garab huaai gayo chheen |Because of this the women became modest and all their pride was shattered.
