ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਲਾਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
man tan seetal saant sahaj laagaa prabh kee sev |

My mind and body are cooled and soothed, in intuitive peace and poise; I have dedicated myself to serving God.

ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ॥
ttootte bandhan bahu bikaar safal pooran taa ke kaam |

One who meditates in remembrance on the Name of the Lord - his bonds are broken, all his sins are erased,

ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਿਟੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੁਟੀ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥
duramat mittee haumai chhuttee simarat har ko naam |

and his works are brought to perfect fruition; his evil-mindedness disappears, and his ego is subdued.

ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨ ॥
saran gahee paarabraham kee mittiaa aavaa gavan |

Taking to the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, his comings and goings in reincarnation are ended.

ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਵਨ ॥
aap tariaa kuttanb siau gun gubind prabh ravan |

He saves himself, along with his family, chanting the Praises of God, the Lord of the Universe.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
har kee ttahal kamaavanee japeeai prabh kaa naam |

I serve the Lord, and I chant the Name of God.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥੧੫॥
gur poore te paaeaa naanak sukh bisraam |15|

From the Perfect Guru, Nanak has obtained peace and comfortable ease. ||15||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥

Salok:

ਪੂਰਨੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਿ ॥
pooran kabahu na ddolataa pooraa keea prabh aap |

The perfect person never wavers; God Himself made him perfect.

ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਘਾਟਿ ॥੧੬॥
din din charrai savaaeaa naanak hot na ghaatt |16|

Day by day, he prospers; O Nanak, he shall not fail. ||16||

Pauree:

ਪੂਰਨਮਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੁ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
pooranamaa pooran prabh ek karan kaaran samarath |

The day of the full moon: God alone is Perfect; He is the All-powerful Cause of causes.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹਥੁ ॥
jeea jant deaal purakh sabh aoopar jaa kaa hath |

The Lord is kind and compassionate to all beings and creatures; His Protecting Hand is over all.

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
gun nidhaan gobind gur keea jaa kaa hoe |

He is the Treasure of Excellence, the Lord of the Universe; through the Guru, He acts.

ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ਅਲਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸੋਇ ॥
antarajaamee prabh sujaan alakh niranjan soe |

God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is All-knowing, Unseen and Immaculately Pure.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੋ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ॥
paarabraham paramesaro sabh bidh jaananahaar |

The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, is the Knower of all ways and means.

ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
sant sahaaee saran jog aatth pahar namasakaar |

He is the Support of His Saints, with the Power to give Sanctuary. Twenty-four hours a day, I bow in reverence to Him.

ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥
akath kathaa nah boojheeai simarahu har ke charan |

His Unspoken Speech cannot be understood; I meditate on the Feet of the Lord.

ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨ ॥੧੬॥
patit udhaaran anaath naath naanak prabh kee saran |16|

He is the Saving Grace of sinners, the Master of the masterless; Nanak has entered God's Sanctuary. ||16||

Salok:

ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਹਸਾ ਗਇਓ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
dukh binase sahasaa geio saran gahee har raae |

My pain is gone, and my sorrows have departed, since I took to the Sanctuary of the Lord, my King.

ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੭॥
man chinde fal paaeaa naanak har gun gaae |17|

I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||17||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥
paurree |

Pauree:

ਕੋਈ ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
koee gaavai ko sunai koee karai beechaar |

Some sing, some listen, and some contemplate;

ਕੋ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
ko upadesai ko drirrai tis kaa hoe udhaar |

some preach, and some implant the Name within; this is how they are saved.

ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
kilabikh kaattai hoe niramalaa janam janam mal jaae |

Their sinful mistakes are erased, and they become pure; the filth of countless incarnations is washed away.

ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲਾ ਨਹ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇ ॥
halat palat mukh aoojalaa nah pohai tis maae |

In this world and the next, their faces shall be radiant; they shall not be touched by Maya.

ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਸੋ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਨਵੰਤੁ ॥
so surataa so baisano so giaanee dhanavant |

They are intuitively wise, and they are Vaishnaavs, worshippers of Vishnu; they are spiritually wise, wealthy and prosperous.

ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਕੁਲਵੰਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
so sooraa kulavant soe jin bhajiaa bhagavant |

They are spiritual heros, of noble birth, who vibrate upon the Lord God.

ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਬੈਸੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥
khatree braahaman sood bais udharai simar chanddaal |

The Kh'shatriyas, the Brahmins, the low-caste Soodras, the Vaisha workers and the outcast pariahs are all saved,

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੧੭॥
jin jaanio prabh aapanaa naanak tiseh ravaal |17|

meditating on the Lord. Nanak is the dust of the feet of those who know his God. ||17||

ਗਉੜੀ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
gaurree kee vaar mahalaa 4 |

Vaar In Gauree, Fourth Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੪ ॥

Salok Fourth Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਮਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
satigur purakh deaal hai jis no samat sabh koe |

The True Guru, the Primal Being, is kind and compassionate; all are alike to Him.

ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
ek drisatt kar dekhadaa man bhaavanee te sidh hoe |

He looks upon all impartially; with pure faith in the mind, He is obtained.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
satigur vich amrit hai har utam har pad soe |

The Ambrosial Nectar is within the True Guru; He is exalted and sublime, of Godly status.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak kirapaa te har dhiaaeeai guramukh paavai koe |1|

O Nanak, by His Grace, one meditates on the Lord; the Gurmukhs obtain Him. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਭ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਜਗਿ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
haumai maaeaa sabh bikh hai nit jag tottaa sansaar |

Egotism and Maya are total poison; in these, people continually suffer loss in this world.

ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
laahaa har dhan khattiaa guramukh sabad veechaar |

The Gurmukh earns the profit of the wealth of the Lord's Name, contemplating the Word of the Shabad.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
haumai mail bikh utarai har amrit har ur dhaar |

The poisonous filth of egotism is removed, when one enshrines the Ambrosial Name of the Lord within the heart.
