ਨਾਮੇ ਸਰ ਭਰਿ ਸੋਨਾ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੦॥
naame sar bhar sonaa lehu |10|

Here, take Naam Dayvs weight in gold, and release him." ||10||

ਮਾਲੁ ਲੇਉ ਤਉ ਦੋਜਕਿ ਪਰਉ ॥
maal leo tau dojak prau |

The king replied, "If I take the gold, then I will be consigned to hell,

ਦੀਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕਉ ਭਰਉ ॥੧੧॥
deen chhodd duneea kau bhrau |11|

by forsaking my faith and gathering worldly wealth." ||11||

ਪਾਵਹੁ ਬੇੜੀ ਹਾਥਹੁ ਤਾਲ ॥
paavahu berree haathahu taal |

With his feet in chains, Naam Dayv kept the beat with his hands,

ਨਾਮਾ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧੨॥
naamaa gaavai gun gopaal |12|

singing the Praises of the Lord. ||12||

ਗੰਗ ਜਮੁਨ ਜਉ ਉਲਟੀ ਬਹੈ ॥
gang jamun jau ulattee bahai |

"Even if the Ganges and the Jamunaa rivers flow backwards,

ਤਉ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
tau naamaa har karataa rahai |13|

I will still continue singing the Praises of the Lord." ||13||

ਸਾਤ ਘੜੀ ਜਬ ਬੀਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ ॥
saat gharree jab beetee sunee |

Three hours passed,

ਅਜਹੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਧਣੀ ॥੧੪॥
ajahu na aaeio tribhavan dhanee |14|

and even then, the Lord of the three worlds had not come. ||14||

ਪਾਖੰਤਣ ਬਾਜ ਬਜਾਇਲਾ ॥
paakhantan baaj bajaaeilaa |

Playing on the instrument of the feathered wings,

ਗਰੁੜ ਚੜੑੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਆਇਲਾ ॥੧੫॥
garurr charrae gobind aaeilaa |15|

the Lord of the Universe came, mounted on the eagle garura. ||15||

ਅਪਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਿ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
apane bhagat par kee pratipaal |

He cherished His devotee,

ਗਰੁੜ ਚੜੑੇ ਆਏ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧੬॥
garurr charrae aae gopaal |16|

and the Lord came, mounted on the eagle garura. ||16||

ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਧਰਣਿ ਇਕੋਡੀ ਕਰਉ ॥
kaheh ta dharan ikoddee krau |

The Lord said to him, "If you wish, I shall turn the earth sideways.

ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਧਰਉ ॥੧੭॥
kaheh ta le kar aoopar dhrau |17|

If you wish, I shall turn it upside down. ||17||

ਕਹਹਿ ਤ ਮੁਈ ਗਊ ਦੇਉ ਜੀਆਇ ॥
kaheh ta muee gaoo deo jeeae |

If you wish, I shall bring the dead cow back to life.

ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਖੈ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥੧੮॥
sabh koee dekhai pateeae |18|

Everyone will see and be convinced." ||18||

ਨਾਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਸੇਲ ਮਸੇਲ ॥
naamaa pranavai sel masel |

Naam Dayv prayed, and milked the cow.

ਗਊ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਬਛਰਾ ਮੇਲਿ ॥੧੯॥
gaoo duhaaee bachharaa mel |19|

He brought the calf to the cow, and milked her. ||19||

ਦੂਧਹਿ ਦੁਹਿ ਜਬ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਭਰੀ ॥
doodheh duhi jab mattukee bharee |

When the pitcher was filled with milk,

ਲੇ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ਧਰੀ ॥੨੦॥
le baadisaah ke aage dharee |20|

Naam Dayv took it and placed it before the king. ||20||

ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹੁ ਮਹਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
baadisaahu mahal meh jaae |

The king went into his palace,

ਅਉਘਟ ਕੀ ਘਟ ਲਾਗੀ ਆਇ ॥੨੧॥
aaughatt kee ghatt laagee aae |21|

and his heart was troubled. ||21||

ਕਾਜੀ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਇ ॥
kaajee mulaan binatee furamaae |

Through the Qazis and the Mullahs, the king offered his prayer,

ਬਖਸੀ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਾਇ ॥੨੨॥
bakhasee hindoo mai teree gaae |22|

"Forgive me, please, O Hindu; I am just a cow before you." ||22||

ਨਾਮਾ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ॥
naamaa kahai sunahu baadisaah |

Naam Dayv said, "Listen, O king:

ਇਹੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਤੀਆ ਮੁਝੈ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੨੩॥
eihu kichh pateea mujhai dikhaae |23|

have I done this miracle? ||23||

ਇਸ ਪਤੀਆ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
eis pateea kaa ihai paravaan |

The purpose of this miracle is

ਸਾਚਿ ਸੀਲਿ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਸੁਲਿਤਾਨ ॥੨੪॥
saach seel chaalahu sulitaan |24|

that you, O king, should walk on the path of truth and humility." ||24||

ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਸਭ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
naamadeo sabh rahiaa samaae |

Naam Dayv became famous everywhere for this.

ਮਿਲਿ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਸਭ ਨਾਮੇ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨੫॥
mil hindoo sabh naame peh jaeh |25|

The Hindus all went together to Naam Dayv. ||25||

ਜਉ ਅਬ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ਗਾਇ ॥
jau ab kee baar na jeevai gaae |

If the cow had not been revived,

ਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਕਾ ਪਤੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੨੬॥
t naamadev kaa pateea jaae |26|

people would have lost faith in Naam Dayv. ||26||

ਨਾਮੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
naame kee keerat rahee sansaar |

The fame of Naam Dayv spread throughout the world.

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਲੇ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨੭॥
bhagat janaan le udhariaa paar |27|

The humble devotees were saved and carried across with him. ||27||

ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਭਇਆ ਖੇਦੁ ॥
sagal kales nindak bheaa khed |

All sorts of troubles and pains afflicted the slanderer.

ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੇਦੁ ॥੨੮॥੧॥੧੦॥
naame naaraaein naahee bhed |28|1|10|

There is no difference between Naam Dayv and the Lord. ||28||1||10||

Second House:

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
jau guradeo ta milai muraar |

By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one meets the Lord.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਉਤਰੈ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
jau guradeo ta utarai paar |

By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one is carried across to the other side.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਤਰੈ ॥
jau guradeo ta baikuntth tarai |

By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one swims across to heaven.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥
jau guradeo ta jeevat marai |1|

By the Grace of the Divine Guru, one remains dead while yet alive. ||1||

ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
sat sat sat sat sat guradev |

True, True, True True, True is the Divine Guru.

ਝੂਠੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਆਨ ਸਭ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jhootth jhootth jhootth jhootth aan sabh sev |1| rahaau |

False, false, false, false is all other service. ||1||Pause||

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥
jau guradeo ta naam drirraavai |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is implanted within.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਨ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
jau guradeo na dah dis dhaavai |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one does not wander in the ten directions.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਪੰਚ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
jau guradeo panch te door |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, the five demons are kept far away.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਨ ਮਰਿਬੋ ਝੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
jau guradeo na maribo jhoor |2|

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one does not die regretting. ||2||

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
jau guradeo ta amrit baanee |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one is blessed with the Ambrosial Bani of the Word.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
jau guradeo ta akath kahaanee |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one speaks the Unspoken Speech.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇਹ ॥
jau guradeo ta amrit deh |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one's body becomes like ambrosial nectar.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਲੇਹਿ ॥੩॥
jau guradeo naam jap lehi |3|

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one utters and chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
jau guradeo bhavan trai soojhai |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one sees the three worlds.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਊਚ ਪਦ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
jau guradeo aooch pad boojhai |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one understands the state of supreme dignity.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਤ ਸੀਸੁ ਅਕਾਸਿ ॥
jau guradeo ta sees akaas |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one's head is in the Akaashic ethers.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥
jau guradeo sadaa saabaas |4|

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one is always congratulated everywhere. ||4||

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
jau guradeo sadaa bairaagee |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one remains detached forever.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
jau guradeo par nindaa tiaagee |

When the Divine Guru grants His Grace, one forsakes the slander of others.
