ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨੇ ਆਪਿ ਸੋਈ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥
jis no mane aap soee maaneeai |

Those whom You approve, are approved.

ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥੩॥
pragatt purakh paravaan sabh tthaaee jaaneeai |3|

Such a celebrated and honored person is known everywhere. ||3||

ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਸਮੑਾਲੇ ਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ॥
dinas rain aaraadh samaale saah saah |

Day and night, with every breath to worship and adore the Lord

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੦੮॥
naanak kee lochaa poor sache paatisaah |4|6|108|

- please, O True Supreme King, fulfill this, Nanak's desire. ||4||6||108||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa 5 |

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਠਾਇ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
poor rahiaa srab tthaae hamaaraa khasam soe |

He, my Lord Master, is fully pervading all places.

ਏਕੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
ek saahib sir chhat doojaa naeh koe |1|

He is the One Lord Master, the roof over our heads; there is no other than Him. ||1||

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
jiau bhaavai tiau raakh raakhanahaariaa |

As it pleases Your Will, please save me, O Savior Lord.

ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujh bin avar na koe nadar nihaariaa |1| rahaau |

Without You, my eyes see no other at all. ||1||Pause||

ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਰੀਐ ॥
pratipaale prabh aap ghatt ghatt saareeai |

God Himself is the Cherisher; He takes care of each and every heart.

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ॥੨॥
jis man vutthaa aap tis na visaareeai |2|

That person, within whose mind You Yourself dwell, never forgets You. ||2||

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥
jo kichh kare su aap aapan bhaaniaa |

He does that which is pleasing to Himself.

ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
bhagataa kaa sahaaee jug jug jaaniaa |3|

He is known as the help and support of His devotees, throughout the ages. ||3||

ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਝੂਰੀਐ ॥
jap jap har kaa naam kade na jhooreeai |

Chanting and meditating up the Lord's Name, the mortal never comes to regret anything.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰੀਐ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦੯॥
naanak daras piaas lochaa pooreeai |4|7|109|

O Nanak, I thirst for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please, fulfill my desire, O Lord. ||4||7||109||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
aasaa mahalaa 5 |

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਿਆ ਸੋਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਗਾਫਲ ਗਹਿਲਿਆ ॥
kiaa soveh naam visaar gaafal gahiliaa |

Why are you sleeping, and forgetting the Name, O careless and foolish mortal?

ਕਿਤਂੀ ਇਤੁ ਦਰੀਆਇ ਵੰਞਨਿੑ ਵਹਦਿਆ ॥੧॥
kitanee it dareeae vanyani vahadiaa |1|

So many have been washed away and carried off by this river of life. ||1||

ਬੋਹਿਥੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਮਨ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘੀਐ ॥
bohitharraa har charan man charr langheeai |

O mortal, get aboard the boat of the Lord's Lotus Feet, and cross over.

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aatth pahar gun gaae saadhoo sangeeai |1| rahaau |

Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||

ਭੋਗਹਿ ਭੋਗ ਅਨੇਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁੰਞਿਆ ॥
bhogeh bhog anek vin naavai sunyiaa |

You may enjoy various pleasures, but they are useless without the Name.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਰੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
har kee bhagat binaa mar mar runiaa |2|

Without devotion to the Lord, you shall die in sorrow, again and again. ||2||

ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਤਨਿ ਮਰਦਨ ਮਾਲਣਾ ॥
kaparr bhog sugandh tan maradan maalanaa |

You may dress and eat and apply scented oils to your body,

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ਸਰਪਰ ਚਾਲਣਾ ॥੩॥
bin simaran tan chhaar sarapar chaalanaa |3|

but without the meditative remembrance of the Lord, your body shall surely turn to dust, and you shall have to depart. ||3||

ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਪੇਖਿਆ ॥
mahaa bikham sansaar viralai pekhiaa |

How very treacherous is this world-ocean; how very few realize this!

ਛੂਟਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਿਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੧੦॥
chhoottan har kee saran lekh naanak lekhiaa |4|8|110|

Salvation rests in the Lord's Sanctuary; O Nanak, this is your pre-ordained destiny. ||4||8||110||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਗਰਬੀਐ ॥
koe na kis hee sang kaahe garabeeai |

No one is anyone's companion; why take any pride in others?

ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਬੀਐ ॥੧॥
ek naam aadhaar bhaujal tarabeeai |1|

With the Support of the One Name, this terrible world-ocean is crossed over. ||1||

ਮੈ ਗਰੀਬ ਸਚੁ ਟੇਕ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
mai gareeb sach ttek toon mere satigur poore |

You are the True Support of me, the poor mortal, O my Perfect True Guru.

ਦੇਖਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰਾ ਦਰਸਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dekh tumaaraa darasano meraa man dheere |1| rahaau |

Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, my mind is encouraged. ||1||Pause||

ਰਾਜੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ਕਾਜਿ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਗਨੁੋ ॥
raaj maal janjaal kaaj na kitai ganuo |

Royal powers, wealth, and worldly involvements are of no use at all.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਹੁ ਧਨੁੋ ॥੨॥
har keeratan aadhaar nihachal ehu dhanuo |2|

The Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is my Support; this wealth is everlasting. ||2||

ਜੇਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਤੇਤ ਪਛਾਵਿਆ ॥
jete maaeaa rang tet pachhaaviaa |

As many as are the pleasures of Maya, so many are the shadows they leave.

ਸੁਖ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵਿਆ ॥੩॥
sukh kaa naam nidhaan guramukh gaaviaa |3|

The Gurmukhs sing of the Naam, the treasure of peace. ||3||

ਸਚਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੇ ॥
sachaa gunee nidhaan toon prabh gahir ganbheere |

You are the True Lord, the treasure of excellence; O God, You are deep and unfathomable.

ਆਸ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਜੀਅਰੇ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੧੧॥
aas bharosaa khasam kaa naanak ke jeeare |4|9|111|

The Lord Master is the hope and support of Nanak's mind. ||4||9||111||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
jis simarat dukh jaae sahaj sukh paaeeai |

Remembering Him, suffering is removed, and celestial peace is obtained.

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
rain dinas kar jorr har har dhiaaeeai |1|

Night and day, with your palms pressed together, meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
naanak kaa prabh soe jis kaa sabh koe |

He alone is Nanak's God, unto whom all beings belong.

ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab rahiaa bharapoor sachaa sach soe |1| rahaau |

He is totally pervading everywhere, the Truest of the True. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਗਿਆਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
antar baahar sang sahaaee giaan jog |

Inwardly and outwardly, He is my companion and my helper; He is the One to be realized.

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਮਨਾ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਸਗਲ ਰੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
tiseh araadh manaa binaasai sagal rog |2|

Adoring Him, my mind is cured of all its ailments. ||2||

ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
raakhanahaar apaar raakhai agan maeh |

The Savior Lord is infinite; He saves us from the fire of the womb.
