ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸੂਤਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੂਤੁ ਖਿੰਚੇ ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
aape hee sootadhaar hai piaaraa soot khinche dteh dteree hoe |1|

He holds the thread, and when He withdraws the thread, the beads scatter into heaps. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
mere man mai har bin avar na koe |

O my mind, there is no other than the Lord for me.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਚੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur vich naam nidhaan hai piaaraa kar deaa amrit mukh choe | rahaau |

The treasure of the Beloved Naam is within the True Guru; in His Mercy, he pours the Ambrosial Nectar into my mouth. ||Pause||

ਆਪੇ ਜਲ ਥਲਿ ਸਭਤੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
aape jal thal sabhat hai piaaraa prabh aape kare su hoe |

The Beloved Himself is in all the oceans and lands; whatever God does, comes to pass.

ਸਭਨਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
sabhanaa rijak samaahadaa piaaraa doojaa avar na koe |

The Beloved brings nourishment to all; there is no other than Him.

ਆਪੇ ਖੇਲ ਖੇਲਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
aape khel khelaaeidaa piaaraa aape kare su hoe |2|

The Beloved Himself plays, and whatever He Himself does, comes to pass. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
aape hee aap niramalaa piaaraa aape niramal soe |

The Beloved Himself, all by Himself, is immaculate and pure; He Himself is immaculate and pure.

ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
aape keemat paaeidaa piaaraa aape kare su hoe |

The Beloved Himself determines the value of all; whatever He does comes to pass.

ਆਪੇ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪਿ ਲਖਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
aape alakh na lakheeai piaaraa aap lakhaavai soe |3|

The Beloved Himself is unseen - He cannot be seen; He Himself causes us to see. ||3||

ਆਪੇ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
aape gahir ganbheer hai piaaraa tis jevadd avar na koe |

The Beloved Himself is deep and profound and unfathomable; there is no other as great as He.

ਸਭਿ ਘਟ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗਵੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
sabh ghatt aape bhogavai piaaraa vich naaree purakh sabh soe |

The Beloved Himself enjoys every heart; He is contained within every woman and man.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak gupat varatadaa piaaraa guramukh paragatt hoe |4|2|

O Nanak, the Beloved is pervading everywhere, but He is hidden; through the Guru, He is revealed. ||4||2||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Sorat'h, Fourth Mehl:

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੈ ॥
aape hee sabh aap hai piaaraa aape thaap uthaapai |

He Himself, the Beloved, is Himself all-in-all; He Himself establishes and disestablishes.

ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਚੋਜ ਵੇਖੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੈ ॥
aape vekh vigasadaa piaaraa kar choj vekhai prabh aapai |

The Beloved Himself beholds, and rejoices; God Himself works wonders, and beholds them.

ਆਪੇ ਵਣਿ ਤਿਣਿ ਸਭਤੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੧॥
aape van tin sabhat hai piaaraa aape guramukh jaapai |1|

The Beloved Himself is contained in all the woods and meadows; as Gurmukh, He reveals Himself. ||1||

ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ॥
jap man har har naam ras dhraapai |

Meditate, O mind, on the Lord, Har, Har; through the sublime essence of Lord's Name, you shall be satisfied.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਚਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit naam mahaa ras meetthaa gurasabadee chakh jaapai | rahaau |

The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, is the sweetest juice; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, its taste is revealed. ||Pause||

ਆਪੇ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਤੁਲਹੜਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੈ ॥
aape teerath tulaharraa piaaraa aap tarai prabh aapai |

The Beloved is Himself the place of pilgrimage and the raft; God Himself ferries Himself across.

ਆਪੇ ਜਾਲੁ ਵਤਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੈ ॥
aape jaal vataaeidaa piaaraa sabh jag machhulee har aapai |

The Beloved Himself casts the net over all the world; the Lord Himself is the fish.

ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਨ ਭੁਲਈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
aap abhul na bhulee piaaraa avar na doojaa jaapai |2|

The Beloved Himself is infallible; He makes no mistakes. There is no other like Him to be seen. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਨਾਦੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਜਾਏ ਆਪੈ ॥
aape singee naad hai piaaraa dhun aap vajaae aapai |

The Beloved Himself is the Yogi's horn, and the sound current of the Naad; He Himself plays the tune.

ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪੈ ॥
aape jogee purakh hai piaaraa aape hee tap taapai |

The Beloved Himself is the Yogi, the Primal Being; He Himself practices intense meditation.

ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਚੇਲਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੈ ॥੩॥
aape satigur aap hai chelaa upades karai prabh aapai |3|

He Himself is the True Guru, and He Himself is the disciple; God Himself imparts the Teachings. ||3||

ਆਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਜਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
aape naau japaaeidaa piaaraa aape hee jap jaapai |

The Beloved Himself inspires us to chant His Name, and He Himself practices meditation.

ਆਪੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਰਸੁ ਆਪੈ ॥
aape amrit aap hai piaaraa aape hee ras aapai |

The Beloved Himself is the Ambrosial Nectar; He Himself is the juice of it.

ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਲਾਹਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ॥੪॥੩॥
aape aap salaahadaa piaaraa jan naanak har ras dhraapai |4|3|

The Beloved Himself praises Himself; servant Nanak is satisfied, with the sublime essence of the Lord. ||4||3||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Sorat'h, Fourth Mehl:

ਆਪੇ ਕੰਡਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਜੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਤੋਲਿ ਤੋਲਾਇਆ ॥
aape kanddaa aap taraajee prabh aape tol tolaaeaa |

God Himself is the balance scale, He Himself is the weigher, and He Himself weighs with the weights.

ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
aape saahu aape vanajaaraa aape vanaj karaaeaa |

He Himself is the banker, He Himself is the trader, and He Himself makes the trades.

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਟੰਕੁ ਚੜਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
aape dharatee saajeean piaarai pichhai ttank charraaeaa |1|

The Beloved Himself fashioned the world, and He Himself counter-balances it with a gram. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
mere man har har dhiaae sukh paaeaa |

My mind meditates on the Lord, Har, Har, and finds peace.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har naam nidhaan hai piaaraa gur poorai meetthaa laaeaa | rahaau |

The Name of the Beloved Lord, Har, Har, is a treasure; the Perfect Guru has made it seem sweet to me. ||Pause||

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਜਲੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
aape dharatee aap jal piaaraa aape kare karaaeaa |

The Beloved Himself is the earth, and He Himself is the water; He Himself acts, and causes others to act.

ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਲੁ ਮਾਟੀ ਬੰਧਿ ਰਖਾਇਆ ॥
aape hukam varatadaa piaaraa jal maattee bandh rakhaaeaa |

The Beloved Himself issues His Commands, and keeps the water and the land bound down.

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਭਉ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਬੰਨਿ ਬਕਰੀ ਸੀਹੁ ਹਢਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
aape hee bhau paaeidaa piaaraa ban bakaree seehu hadtaaeaa |2|

The Beloved Himself instills the Fear of God; He binds the tiger and the goat together. ||2||
