ਹਣਵੰਤੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਧਰਿ ਲੰਕੂਰੁ ॥
hanavant jaagai dhar lankoor |

Hanuman with his tail is awake and aware.

ਸੰਕਰੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ॥
sankar jaagai charan sev |

Shiva is awake, serving at the Lord's Feet.

ਕਲਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਨਾਮਾ ਜੈਦੇਵ ॥੨॥
kal jaage naamaa jaidev |2|

Naam Dayv and Jai Dayv are awake in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||2||

ਜਾਗਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ॥
jaagat sovat bahu prakaar |

There are many ways of being awake, and sleeping.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
guramukh jaagai soee saar |

To be awake as Gurmukh is the most excellent way.

ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਕੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਕਾਮ ॥
eis dehee ke adhik kaam |

The most sublime of all the actions of this body,

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥੨॥
keh kabeer bhaj raam naam |3|2|

says Kabeer, is to meditate and vibrate on the Lord's Name. ||3||2||

ਜੋਇ ਖਸਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
joe khasam hai jaaeaa |

The wife gives birth to her husband.

ਪੂਤਿ ਬਾਪੁ ਖੇਲਾਇਆ ॥
poot baap khelaaeaa |

The son leads his father in play.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣਾ ਖੀਰੁ ਪਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
bin sravanaa kheer pilaaeaa |1|

Without breasts, the mother nurses her baby. ||1||

ਦੇਖਹੁ ਲੋਗਾ ਕਲਿ ਕੋ ਭਾਉ ॥
dekhahu logaa kal ko bhaau |

Behold, people! This is how it is in the Dark Age of Kali Yuga.

ਸੁਤਿ ਮੁਕਲਾਈ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sut mukalaaee apanee maau |1| rahaau |

The son marries his mother. ||1||Pause||

ਪਗਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਰੀਆ ਮਾਰਤਾ ॥
pagaa bin hureea maarataa |

Without feet, the mortal jumps.

ਬਦਨੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਰ ਖਿਰ ਹਾਸਤਾ ॥
badanai bin khir khir haasataa |

Without a mouth, he bursts into laughter.

ਨਿਦ੍ਰਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਰੁ ਪੈ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
nidraa bin nar pai sovai |

Without feeling sleepy, he lays down and sleeps.

ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਸਨ ਖੀਰੁ ਬਿਲੋਵੈ ॥੨॥
bin baasan kheer bilovai |2|

Without a churn, the milk is churned. ||2||

ਬਿਨੁ ਅਸਥਨ ਗਊ ਲਵੇਰੀ ॥
bin asathan gaoo laveree |

Without udders, the cow gives milk.

ਪੈਡੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਟ ਘਨੇਰੀ ॥
paidde bin baatt ghaneree |

Without travelling, a long journey is made.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਟ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
bin satigur baatt na paaee |

Without the True Guru, the path is not found.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸਮਝਾਈ ॥੩॥੩॥
kahu kabeer samajhaaee |3|3|

Says Kabeer, see this, and understand. ||3||3||

ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਪਠਾਏ ਪੜਨ ਸਾਲ ॥
prahalaad patthaae parran saal |

Prahlaad was sent to school.

ਸੰਗਿ ਸਖਾ ਬਹੁ ਲੀਏ ਬਾਲ ॥
sang sakhaa bahu lee baal |

He took many of his friends along with him.

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਪੜੑਾਵਸਿ ਆਲ ਜਾਲ ॥
mo kau kahaa parraavas aal jaal |

He asked his teacher, "Why do you teach me about worldly affairs?

ਮੇਰੀ ਪਟੀਆ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁੋਪਾਲ ॥੧॥
meree patteea likh dehu sree guopaal |1|

Write the Name of the Dear Lord on my tablet." ||1||

ਨਹੀ ਛੋਡਉ ਰੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥
nahee chhoddau re baabaa raam naam |

O Baba, I will not forsake the Name of the Lord.

ਮੇਰੋ ਅਉਰ ਪੜੑਨ ਸਿਉ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mero aaur parran siau nahee kaam |1| rahaau |

I will not bother with any other lessons. ||1||Pause||

ਸੰਡੈ ਮਰਕੈ ਕਹਿਓ ਜਾਇ ॥
sanddai marakai kahio jaae |

Sanda and Marka went to the king to complain.

ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਬੇਗਿ ਧਾਇ ॥
prahalaad bulaae beg dhaae |

He sent for Prahlaad to come at once.

ਤੂ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਨ ਕੀ ਛੋਡੁ ਬਾਨਿ ॥
too raam kahan kee chhodd baan |

He said to him, "Stop uttering the Lord's Name.

ਤੁਝੁ ਤੁਰਤੁ ਛਡਾਊ ਮੇਰੋ ਕਹਿਓ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੨॥
tujh turat chhaddaaoo mero kahio maan |2|

I shall release you at once, if you obey my words." ||2||

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਸਤਾਵਹੁ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ॥
mo kau kahaa sataavahu baar baar |

Prahlaad answered, "Why do you annoy me, over and over again?

ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਹਾਰ ॥
prabh jal thal gir kee pahaar |

God created the water, land, hills and mountains.

ਇਕੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਉ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਗਾਰਿ ॥
eik raam na chhoddau gureh gaar |

I shall not forsake the One Lord; if I did, I would be going against my Guru.

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਘਾਲਿ ਜਾਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਡਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
mo kau ghaal jaar bhaavai maar ddaar |3|

You might as well throw me into the fire and kill me." ||3||

ਕਾਢਿ ਖੜਗੁ ਕੋਪਿਓ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥
kaadt kharrag kopio risaae |

The king became angry and drew his sword.

ਤੁਝ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਤਾਇ ॥
tujh raakhanahaaro mohi bataae |

"Show me your protector now!"

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਥੰਭ ਤੇ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਕੈ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
prabh thanbh te nikase kai bisathaar |

So God emerged out of the pillar, and assumed a mighty form.

ਹਰਨਾਖਸੁ ਛੇਦਿਓ ਨਖ ਬਿਦਾਰ ॥੪॥
haranaakhas chhedio nakh bidaar |4|

He killed Harnaakhash, tearing him apart with his nails. ||4||

ਓਇ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇਵਾਧਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
oe param purakh devaadh dev |

The Supreme Lord God, the Divinity of the divine,

ਭਗਤਿ ਹੇਤਿ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਭੇਵ ॥
bhagat het narasingh bhev |

for the sake of His devotee, assumed the form of the man-lion.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਲਖੈ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥
keh kabeer ko lakhai na paar |

Says Kabeer, no one can know the Lord's limits.

ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ॥੫॥੪॥
prahalaad udhaare anik baar |5|4|

He saves His devotees like Prahlaad over and over again. ||5||4||

ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਮਧੇ ਮਦਨ ਚੋਰ ॥
eis tan man madhe madan chor |

Within the body and mind are thieves like sexual desire,

ਜਿਨਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲੀਨ ਮੋਰ ॥
jin giaan ratan hir leen mor |

which has stolen my jewel of spiritual wisdom.

ਮੈ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਹਉ ਕਾਹਿ ॥
mai anaath prabh khau kaeh |

I am a poor orphan, O God; unto whom should I complain?

ਕੋ ਕੋ ਨ ਬਿਗੂਤੋ ਮੈ ਕੋ ਆਹਿ ॥੧॥
ko ko na bigooto mai ko aaeh |1|

Who has not been ruined by sexual desire? What am I? ||1||

ਮਾਧਉ ਦਾਰੁਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
maadhau daarun dukh sahio na jaae |

O Lord, I cannot endure this agonizing pain.

ਮੇਰੋ ਚਪਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਸਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mero chapal budh siau kahaa basaae |1| rahaau |

What power does my fickle mind have against it? ||1||Pause||

ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦਨ ਸਿਵ ਸੁਕਾਦਿ ॥
sanak sanandan siv sukaad |

Sanak, Sanandan, Shiva and Suk Dayv

ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਜਾਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿ ॥
naabh kamal jaane brahamaad |

were born out of Brahma's naval chakra.

ਕਬਿ ਜਨ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਟਾਧਾਰਿ ॥
kab jan jogee jattaadhaar |

The poets and the Yogis with their matted hair

ਸਭ ਆਪਨ ਅਉਸਰ ਚਲੇ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
sabh aapan aausar chale saar |2|

all lived their lives with good behavior. ||2||

ਤੂ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਥਾਹ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
too athaahu mohi thaah naeh |

You are Unfathomable; I cannot know Your depth.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਹਉ ਕਾਹਿ ॥
prabh deenaa naath dukh khau kaeh |

O God, Master of the meek, unto whom should I tell my pains?

ਮੋਰੋ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਥਿ ਧੀਰ ॥
moro janam maran dukh aath dheer |

Please rid me of the pains of birth and death, and bless me with peace.

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਗੁਨ ਰਉ ਕਬੀਰ ॥੩॥੫॥
sukh saagar gun rau kabeer |3|5|

Kabeer utters the Glorious Praises of God, the Ocean of peace. ||3||5||

ਨਾਇਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਬਨਜਾਰੇ ਪਾਚ ॥
naaeik ek banajaare paach |

There is one merchant and five traders.

ਬਰਧ ਪਚੀਸਕ ਸੰਗੁ ਕਾਚ ॥
baradh pacheesak sang kaach |

The twenty-five oxen carry false merchandise.

ਨਉ ਬਹੀਆਂ ਦਸ ਗੋਨਿ ਆਹਿ ॥
nau baheean das gon aaeh |

There are nine poles which hold the ten bags.

ਕਸਨਿ ਬਹਤਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
kasan bahatar laagee taeh |1|

The body is tied by the seventy-two ropes. ||1||

ਮੋਹਿ ਐਸੇ ਬਨਜ ਸਿਉ ਨਹੀਨ ਕਾਜੁ ॥
mohi aaise banaj siau naheen kaaj |

I don't care at all about such commerce.
