ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
gaurree guaareree mahalaa 4 |

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਬਣੀ ॥
satigur sevaa safal hai banee |

Service to the True Guru is fruitful and rewarding;

ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਧਣੀ ॥
jit mil har naam dhiaaeaa har dhanee |

meeting Him, I meditate on the Name of the Lord, the Lord Master.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੀਛੈ ਛੂਟੀ ਘਣੀ ॥੧॥
jin har japiaa tin peechhai chhoottee ghanee |1|

So many are emancipated along with those who meditate on the Lord. ||1||

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
gurasikh har bolahu mere bhaaee |

O GurSikhs, chant the Name of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਤ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bolat sabh paap leh jaaee |1| rahaau |

Chanting the Lord's Name, all sins are washed away. ||1||Pause||

ਜਬ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਬ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
jab gur miliaa tab man vas aaeaa |

When one meets the Guru, then the mind becomes centered.

ਧਾਵਤ ਪੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
dhaavat panch rahe har dhiaaeaa |

The five passions, running wild, are brought to rest by meditating on the Lord.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਗਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
anadin nagaree har gun gaaeaa |2|

Night and day, within the body-village, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
satigur pag dhoor jinaa mukh laaee |

Those who apply the dust of the Feet of the True Guru to their faces,

ਤਿਨ ਕੂੜ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
tin koorr tiaage har liv laaee |

renounce falsehood and enshrine love for the Lord.

ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
te har daragah mukh aoojal bhaaee |3|

Their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
gur sevaa aap har bhaavai |

Service to the Guru is pleasing to the Lord Himself.

ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
krisan balabhadru gur pag lag dhiaavai |

Even Krishna and Balbhadar meditated on the Lord, falling at the Guru's Feet.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੩॥
naanak guramukh har aap taraavai |4|5|43|

O Nanak, the Lord Himself saves the Gurmukhs. ||4||5||43||

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਡੰਡਾਧਾਰੀ ॥
har aape jogee ddanddaadhaaree |

The Lord Himself is the Yogi, who wields the staff of authority.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
har aape rav rahiaa banavaaree |

The Lord Himself practices tapa - intense self-disciplined meditation;

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪੈ ਲਾਇ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
har aape tap taapai laae taaree |1|

He is deeply absorbed in His primal trance. ||1||

ਐਸਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
aaisaa meraa raam rahiaa bharapoor |

Such is my Lord, who is all-pervading everywhere.

ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nikatt vasai naahee har door |1| rahaau |

He dwells near at hand - the Lord is not far away. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
har aape sabad surat dhun aape |

The Lord Himself is the Word of the Shabad. He Himself is the awareness, attuned to its music.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
har aape vekhai vigasai aape |

The Lord Himself beholds, and He Himself blossoms forth.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
har aap japaae aape har jaape |2|

The Lord Himself chants, and the Lord Himself inspires others to chant. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰਾ ॥
har aape saaring amritadhaaraa |

He Himself is the rainbird, and the Ambrosial Nectar raining down.

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਆਪਿ ਪੀਆਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har amrit aap peeaavanahaaraa |

The Lord is the Ambrosial Nectar; He Himself leads us to drink it in.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
har aap kare aape nisataaraa |3|

The Lord Himself is the Doer; He Himself is our Saving Grace. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਤਾਰਾ ॥
har aape berree tulahaa taaraa |

The Lord Himself is the Boat, the Raft and the Boatman.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
har aape guramatee nisataaraa |

The Lord Himself, through the Guru's Teachings, saves us.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੪॥
har aape naanak paavai paaraa |4|6|44|

O Nanak, the Lord Himself carries us across to the other side. ||4||6||44||

ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
gaurree bairaagan mahalaa 4 |

Gauree Bairaagan, Fourth Mehl:

ਸਾਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਧਣੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੈਸੀ ਹਮ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
saahu hamaaraa toon dhanee jaisee toon raas dehi taisee ham lehi |

O Master, You are my Banker. I receive only that capital which You give me.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣੰਜਹ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਜੇ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਦੇਹਿ ॥੧॥
har naam vananjah rang siau je aap deaal hoe dehi |1|

I would purchase the Lord's Name with love, if You Yourself, in Your Mercy, would sell it to me. ||1||

ਹਮ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ॥
ham vanajaare raam ke |

I am the merchant, the peddler of the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har vanaj karaavai de raas re |1| rahaau |

I trade in the merchandise and capital of the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||

ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
laahaa har bhagat dhan khattiaa har sache saah man bhaaeaa |

I have earned the profit, the wealth of devotional worship of the Lord. I have become pleasing to the Mind of the Lord, the True Banker.

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
har jap har vakhar ladiaa jam jaagaatee nerr na aaeaa |2|

I chant and meditate on the Lord, loading the merchandise of the Lord's Name. The Messenger of Death, the tax collector, does not even approach me. ||2||

ਹੋਰੁ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਅਨੰਤ ਤਰੰਗੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
hor vanaj kareh vaapaaree anant tarangee dukh maaeaa |

Those traders who trade in other merchandise, are caught up in the endless waves of the pain of Maya.

ਓਇ ਜੇਹੈ ਵਣਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਇਆ ਫਲੁ ਤੇਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
oe jehai vanaj har laaeaa fal tehaa tin paaeaa |3|

According to the business in which the Lord has placed them, so are the rewards they obtain. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਈ ॥
har har vanaj so jan kare jis kripaal hoe prabh deee |

People trade in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, when the God shows His Mercy and bestows it.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਲੇਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੪੫॥
jan naanak saahu har seviaa fir lekhaa mool na leee |4|1|7|45|

Servant Nanak serves the Lord, the Banker; he shall never again be called to render his account. ||4||1||7||45||

ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
gaurree bairaagan mahalaa 4 |

Gauree Bairaagan, Fourth Mehl:

ਜਿਉ ਜਨਨੀ ਗਰਭੁ ਪਾਲਤੀ ਸੁਤ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਾ ॥
jiau jananee garabh paalatee sut kee kar aasaa |

The mother nourishes the fetus in the womb, hoping for a son,

ਵਡਾ ਹੋਇ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਦੇਇ ਕਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
vaddaa hoe dhan khaatt dee kar bhog bilaasaa |

who will grow and earn and give her money to enjoy herself.

ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਦਾ ਦੇ ਆਪਿ ਹਥਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
tiau har jan preet har raakhadaa de aap hathaasaa |1|

In just the same way, the humble servant of the Lord loves the Lord, who extends His Helping Hand to us. ||1||
