ਕਰਮਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਨਿਬੜੈ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥
karamaa upar nibarrai je lochai sabh koe |3|

According to the karma of past actions, one's destiny unfolds, even though everyone wants to be so lucky. ||3||

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
naanak karanaa jin keea soee saar karee |

O Nanak, the One who created the creation - He alone takes care of it.

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੀ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੮॥
hukam na jaapee khasam kaa kisai vaddaaee dee |4|1|18|

The Hukam of our Lord and Master's Command cannot be known; He Himself blesses us with greatness. ||4||1||18||

ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
gaurree bairaagan mahalaa 1 |

Gauree Bairaagan, First Mehl:

ਹਰਣੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਬਨਿ ਬਸਾ ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲ ਚੁਣਿ ਖਾਉ ॥
haranee hovaa ban basaa kand mool chun khaau |

What if I were to become a deer, and live in the forest, picking and eating fruits and roots

ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
guraparasaadee meraa sahu milai vaar vaar hau jaau jeeo |1|

- by Guru's Grace, I am a sacrifice to my Master. Again and again, I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice. ||1||

ਮੈ ਬਨਜਾਰਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ॥
mai banajaaran raam kee |

I am the shop-keeper of the Lord.

ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਜੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
teraa naam vakhar vaapaar jee |1| rahaau |

Your Name is my merchandise and trade. ||1||Pause||

ਕੋਕਿਲ ਹੋਵਾ ਅੰਬਿ ਬਸਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਬਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
kokil hovaa anb basaa sahaj sabad beechaar |

If I were to become a cuckoo, living in a mango tree, I would still contemplate the Word of the Shabad.

ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
sahaj subhaae meraa sahu milai darasan roop apaar |2|

I would still meet my Lord and Master, with intuitive ease; the Darshan, the Blessed Vision of His Form, is incomparably beautiful. ||2||

ਮਛੁਲੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਜਲਿ ਬਸਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਰਿ ॥
machhulee hovaa jal basaa jeea jant sabh saar |

If I were to become a fish, living in the water, I would still remember the Lord, who watches over all beings and creatures.

ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹੁ ਵਸੈ ਹਉ ਮਿਲਉਗੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
auravaar paar meraa sahu vasai hau milaugee baah pasaar |3|

My Husband Lord dwells on this shore, and on the shore beyond; I would still meet Him, and hug Him close in my embrace. ||3||

ਨਾਗਨਿ ਹੋਵਾ ਧਰ ਵਸਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
naagan hovaa dhar vasaa sabad vasai bhau jaae |

If I were to become a snake, living in the ground, the Shabad would still dwell in my mind, and my fears would be dispelled.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੯॥
naanak sadaa sohaaganee jin jotee jot samaae |4|2|19|

O Nanak, they are forever the happy soul-brides, whose light merges into His Light. ||4||2||19||

ਗਉੜੀ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਦੀਪਕੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
gaurree poorabee deepakee mahalaa 1 |

Gauree Poorbee Deepkee, First Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਜੈ ਘਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
jai ghar keerat aakheeai karate kaa hoe beechaaro |

In that house where the Praises of the Creator are chanted

ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਸਿਵਰਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
tit ghar gaavahu sohilaa sivarahu sirajanahaaro |1|

- in that house, sing the Songs of Praise, and meditate in remembrance on the Creator Lord. ||1||

ਤੁਮ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਾ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ॥
tum gaavahu mere nirbhau kaa sohilaa |

Sing the Songs of Praise of my Fearless Lord.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਾਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੋਹਿਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau vaaree jaau jit sohilai sadaa sukh hoe |1| rahaau |

I am a sacrifice to that Song of Praise which brings eternal peace. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਸਮਾਲੀਅਨਿ ਦੇਖੈਗਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
nit nit jeearre samaaleean dekhaigaa devanahaar |

Day after day, He cares for His beings; the Great Giver watches over all.

ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਨੈ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
tere daanai keemat naa pavai tis daate kavan sumaar |2|

Your gifts cannot be appraised; how can anyone compare to the Giver? ||2||

ਸੰਬਤਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਤੇਲੁ ॥
sanbat saahaa likhiaa mil kar paavahu tel |

The day of my wedding is pre-ordained. Come - let's gather together and pour the oil over the threshold.

ਦੇਹੁ ਸਜਣ ਆਸੀਸੜੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੩॥
dehu sajan aaseesarreea jiau hovai saahib siau mel |3|

My friends, give me your blessings, that I may merge with my Lord and Master. ||3||

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਏਹੋ ਪਾਹੁਚਾ ਸਦੜੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥
ghar ghar eho paahuchaa sadarre nit pavan |

Unto each and every home, into each and every heart, this summons is sent out; the call comes each and every day.

ਸਦਣਹਾਰਾ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਦਿਹ ਆਵੰਨਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੦॥
sadanahaaraa simareeai naanak se dih aavan |4|1|20|

Remember in meditation the One who summons us; O Nanak, that day is drawing near! ||4||1||20||

ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ॥ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਚਉਪਦੇ ॥
raag gaurree guaareree | mahalaa 3 chaupade |

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree: Third Mehl, Chau-Padhay:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
gur miliaai har melaa hoee |

Meeting the Guru, we meet the Lord.

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
aape mel milaavai soee |

He Himself unites us in His Union.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
meraa prabh sabh bidh aape jaanai |

My God knows all His Own Ways.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੧॥
hukame mele sabad pachhaanai |1|

By the Hukam of His Command, He unites those who recognize the Word of the Shabad. ||1||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਇ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
satigur kai bhe bhram bhau jaae |

By the Fear of the True Guru, doubt and fear are dispelled.

ਭੈ ਰਾਚੈ ਸਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhai raachai sach rang samaae |1| rahaau |

Imbued with His Fear, we are absorbed in the Love of the True One. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
gur miliaai har man vasai subhaae |

Meeting the Guru, the Lord naturally dwells within the mind.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਾਰਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
meraa prabh bhaaraa keemat nahee paae |

My God is Great and Almighty; His value cannot be estimated.

ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
sabad saalaahai ant na paaraavaar |

Through the Shabad, I praise Him; He has no end or limitations.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
meraa prabh bakhase bakhasanahaar |2|

My God is the Forgiver. I pray that He may forgive me. ||2||

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur miliaai sabh mat budh hoe |

Meeting the Guru, all wisdom and understanding are obtained.
