ਗੁਣ ਰਮੰਤ ਦੂਖ ਨਾਸਹਿ ਰਿਦ ਭਇਅੰਤ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥੩॥
gun ramant dookh naaseh rid bheiant saant |3|

Uttering His Glorious Praises, suffering is eradicated, and the heart becomes tranquil and calm. ||3||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਉ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥
amritaa ras peeo rasanaa naanak har rang raat |4|4|15|

Drink in the Sweet, Sublime Ambrosial Nectar, O Nanak, and be imbued with the Love of the Lord. ||4||4||15||

ਕਾਨੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
kaanarraa mahalaa 5 |

Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਾਜਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਆਉ ਮੇਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saajanaa sant aau merai |1| rahaau |

O friends, O Saints, come to me. ||1||Pause||

ਆਨਦਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਸਮਲਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਰੇਰੈ ॥੧॥
aanadaa gun gaae mangal kasamalaa mitt jaeh parerai |1|

Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord with pleasure and joy, the sins will be erased and thrown away. ||1||

ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ਧਰਉ ਮਾਥੈ ਚਾਂਦਨਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਅੰਧੇਰੈ ॥੨॥
sant charan dhrau maathai chaandanaa grihi hoe andherai |2|

Touch your forehead to the feet of the Saints, and your dark household shall be illumined. ||2||

ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਉ ਪੇਖਿ ਨੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
sant prasaad kamal bigasai gobind bhjau pekh nerai |3|

By the Grace of the Saints, the heart-lotus blossoms forth. Vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, and see Him near at hand. ||3||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਪਾਏ ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹ ਬੇਰੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥
prabh kripaa te sant paae vaar vaar naanak uh berai |4|5|16|

By the Grace of God, I have found the Saints. Over and over again, Nanak is a sacrifice to that moment. ||4||5||16||

ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
charan saran gopaal teree |

I seek the Sanctuary of Your Lotus Feet, O Lord of the World.

ਮੋਹ ਮਾਨ ਧੋਹ ਭਰਮ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਕਾਟਿ ਬੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
moh maan dhoh bharam raakh leejai kaatt beree |1| rahaau |

Save me from emotional attachment, pride, deception and doubt; please cut away these ropes which bind me. ||1||Pause||

ਬੂਡਤ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ॥
booddat sansaar saagar |

I am drowning in the world-ocean.

ਉਧਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਤਨਾਗਰ ॥੧॥
audhare har simar ratanaagar |1|

Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the Source of Jewels, I am saved. ||1||

ਸੀਤਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
seetalaa har naam teraa |

Your Name, Lord, is cooling and soothing.

ਪੂਰਨੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
poorano tthaakur prabh meraa |2|

God, my Lord and Master, is Perfect. ||2||

ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਤਾਰਨ ॥
deen darad nivaar taaran |

You are the Deliverer, the Destroyer of the sufferings of the meek and the poor.

ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ॥੩॥
har kripaa nidh patit udhaaran |3|

The Lord is the Treasure of Mercy, the Saving Grace of sinners. ||3||

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਦੂਖ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
kott janam dookh kar paaeio |

I have suffered the pains of millions of incarnations.

ਸੁਖੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥
sukhee naanak gur naam drirraaeio |4|6|17|

Nanak is at peace; the Guru has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me. ||4||6||17||

Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:

ਧਨਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
dhan uh preet charan sang laagee |

Blessed is that love, which is attuned to the Lord's Feet.

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kott jaap taap sukh paae aae mile pooran baddabhaagee |1| rahaau |

The peace which comes from millions of chants and deep meditations is obtained by perfect good fortune and destiny. ||1||Pause||

ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਵਰ ਓਟ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
mohi anaath daas jan teraa avar ott sagalee mohi tiaagee |

I am Your helpless servant and slave; I have given up all other support.

ਭੋਰ ਭਰਮ ਕਾਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
bhor bharam kaatte prabh simarat giaan anjan mil sovat jaagee |1|

Every trace of doubt has been eradicated, remembering God in meditation. I have applied the ointment of spiritual wisdom, and awakened from my sleep. ||1||

ਤੂ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਬਡੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਤਨਾਗੀ ॥
too athaahu at baddo suaamee kripaa sindh pooran ratanaagee |

You are Unfathomably Great and Utterly Vast, O my Lord and Master, Ocean of Mercy, Source of Jewels.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਆਨਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਗੀ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੮॥
naanak jaachak har har naam maangai masatak aan dhario prabh paagee |2|7|18|

Nanak, the beggar, begs for the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; he rests his forehead upon God's Feet. ||2||7||18||

ਕਾਨੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:

ਕੁਚਿਲ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਪਟ ਕਾਮੀ ॥
kuchil katthor kapatt kaamee |

I am filthy, hard-hearted, deceitful and obsessed with sexual desire.

ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤਾਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiau jaaneh tiau taar suaamee |1| rahaau |

Please carry me across, as You wish, O my Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||

ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
too samarath saran jog too raakheh apanee kal dhaar |1|

You are All-powerful and Potent to grant Sanctuary. Exerting Your Power, You protect us. ||1||

ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਨੇਮ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਨ ਬਿਧੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਰ ॥
jaap taap nem such sanjam naahee in bidhe chhuttakaar |

Chanting and deep meditation, penance and austere self-discipline, fasting and purification - salvation does not come by any of these means.

ਗਰਤ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੯॥
garat ghor andh te kaadtahu prabh naanak nadar nihaar |2|8|19|

Please lift me up and out of this deep, dark ditch; O God, please bless Nanak with Your Glance of Grace. ||2||8||19||

Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl, Fourth House:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਨਰਪਤਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥
naaraaein narapat namasakaarai |

The one who bows in humble reverence to the Primal Lord, the Lord of all beings

ਐਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aaise gur kau bal bal jaaeeai aap mukat mohi taarai |1| rahaau |

- I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to such a Guru; He Himself is liberated, and He carries me across as well. ||1||Pause||

ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਗੁਨ ਕਹੀਐ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਪਾਰੈ ॥
kavan kavan kavan gun kaheeai ant nahee kachh paarai |

Which, which, which of Your Glorious Virtues should I chant? There is no end or limitation to them.

ਲਾਖ ਲਾਖ ਲਾਖ ਕਈ ਕੋਰੈ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਐਸੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
laakh laakh laakh kee korai ko hai aaiso beechaarai |1|

There are thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, many millions of them, but those who contemplate them are very rare. ||1||
