ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
nindak kaa kahiaa koe na maanai |

No one belives what the slanderer says.

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਝੂਠੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੇ ॥
nindak jhootth bol pachhutaane |

The slanderer tells lies, and later regrets and repents.

ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋਰਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਨਿ ਲਗਾਹਿ ॥
haath pachhoreh sir dharan lagaeh |

He wrings his hands, and hits his head against the ground.

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਉ ਦਈ ਛੋਡੈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
nindak kau dee chhoddai naeh |2|

The Lord does not forgive the slanderer. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਮਾਗੈ ॥
har kaa daas kichh buraa na maagai |

The Lord's slave does not wish anyone ill.

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਦੁਖ ਸਾਂਗੈ ॥
nindak kau laagai dukh saangai |

The slanderer suffers, as if stabbed by a spear.

ਬਗੁਲੇ ਜਿਉ ਰਹਿਆ ਪੰਖ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥
bagule jiau rahiaa pankh pasaar |

Like a crane, he spreads his feathers, to look like a swan.

ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਢਿਆ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
mukh te boliaa taan kadtiaa beechaar |3|

When he speaks with his mouth, then he is exposed and driven out. ||3||

ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
antarajaamee karataa soe |

The Creator is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
har jan karai su nihachal hoe |

That person, whom the Lord makes His Own, becomes stable and steady.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥
har kaa daas saachaa darabaar |

The Lord's slave is true in the Court of the Lord.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਿਆ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੫੪॥
jan naanak kahiaa tat beechaar |4|41|54|

Servant Nanak speaks, after contemplating the essence of reality. ||4||41||54||

ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bhairau mahalaa 5 |

Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:

ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
due kar jor krau aradaas |

With my palms pressed together, I offer this prayer.

ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
jeeo pindd dhan tis kee raas |

My soul, body and wealth are His property.

ਸੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
soee meraa suaamee karanaihaar |

He is the Creator, my Lord and Master.

ਕੋਟਿ ਬਾਰ ਜਾਈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੧॥
kott baar jaaee balihaar |1|

Millions of times, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||1||

ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਰੀ ॥
saadhoo dhoor puneet karee |

The dust of the feet of the Holy brings purity.

ਮਨ ਕੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਹਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man ke bikaar mitteh prabh simarat janam janam kee mail haree |1| rahaau |

Remembering God in meditation, the mind's corruption is eradicated, and the filth of countless incarnations is washed away. ||1||Pause||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
jaa kai grih meh sagal nidhaan |

All treasures are in His household.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jaa kee sevaa paaeeai maan |

Serving Him, the mortal attains honor.

ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨਹਾਰ ॥
sagal manorath pooranahaar |

He is the Fulfiller of the mind's desires.

ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਭਗਤਨ ਆਧਾਰ ॥੨॥
jeea praan bhagatan aadhaar |2|

He is the Support of the soul and the breath of life of His devotees. ||2||

ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar sagal pragaas |

His Light shines in each and every heart.

ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥
jap jap jeeveh bhagat gunataas |

Chanting and meditating on God, the Treasure of Virtue, His devotees live.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
jaa kee sev na birathee jaae |

Service to Him does not go in vain.

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੩॥
man tan antar ek dhiaae |3|

Deep within your mind and body, meditate on the One Lord. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਦਇਆ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥
gur upades deaa santokh |

Following the Guru's Teachings, compassion and contentment are found.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਇਹੁ ਥੋਕੁ ॥
naam nidhaan niramal ihu thok |

This Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the immaculate object.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੀਜੈ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
kar kirapaa leejai larr laae |

Please grant Your Grace, O Lord, and attach me to the hem of Your robe.

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੫੫॥
charan kamal naanak nit dhiaae |4|42|55|

Nanak meditates continually on the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||4||42||55||

ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bhairau mahalaa 5 |

Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੁਨੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
satigur apune sunee aradaas |

The True Guru has listened to my prayer.

ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਗਲਾ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
kaaraj aaeaa sagalaa raas |

All my affairs have been resolved.

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
man tan antar prabhoo dhiaaeaa |

Deep within my mind and body, I meditate on God.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਡਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
gur poore ddar sagal chukaaeaa |1|

The Perfect Guru has dispelled all my fears. ||1||

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਵਡ ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
sabh te vadd samarath guradev |

The All-powerful Divine Guru is the Greatest of all.

ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh sukh paaee tis kee sev | rahaau |

Serving Him, I obtain all comforts. ||Pause||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa kaa keea sabh kichh hoe |

Everything is done by Him.

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis kaa amar na mettai koe |

No one can erase His Eternal Decree.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਅਨੂਪੁ ॥
paarabraham paramesar anoop |

The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, is incomparably beautiful.

ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥੨॥
safal moorat gur tis kaa roop |2|

The Guru is the Image of Fulfillment, the Embodiment of the Lord. ||2||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
jaa kai antar basai har naam |

The Name of the Lord abides deep within him.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਪੇਖੈ ਸੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
jo jo pekhai su braham giaan |

Wherever he looks, he sees the Wisdom of God.

ਬੀਸ ਬਿਸੁਏ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
bees bisue jaa kai man paragaas |

His mind is totally enlightened and illuminated.

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੩॥
tis jan kai paarabraham kaa nivaas |3|

Within that person, the Supreme Lord God abides. ||3||

ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਕਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
tis gur kau sad karee namasakaar |

I humbly bow to that Guru forever.

ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਜਾਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
tis gur kau sad jaau balihaar |

I am forever a sacrifice to that Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਵਾ ॥
satigur ke charan dhoe dhoe peevaa |

I wash the feet of the Guru, and drink in this water.

ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਦ ਜੀਵਾ ॥੪॥੪੩॥੫੬॥
gur naanak jap jap sad jeevaa |4|43|56|

Chanting and meditating forever on Guru Nanak, I live. ||4||43||56||
