ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਰੋਹੈ ॥
duramat bhaagaheen mat feeke naam sunat aavai man rohai |Evil-minded, unfortunate and shallow-minded are those who feel anger in their minds, when they hear the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਕਊਆ ਕਾਗ ਕਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਖਾਇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੋਹੈ ॥੩॥
kaooaa kaag kau amrit ras paaeeai tripatai visattaa khaae mukh gohai |3|You may place ambrosial nectar before crows and ravens, but they will be satisfied only by eating manure and dung with their mouths. ||3||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਤੈ ਕਊਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੋਹੈ ॥
amritasar satigur sativaadee jit naatai kaooaa hans hohai |The True Guru, the Speaker of Truth, is the pool of Ambrosial Nectar; bathing within it, the crow becomes a swan.
ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak dhan dhan vadde vaddabhaagee jina guramat naam ridai mal dhohai |4|2|O Nanak, blessed, blessed and very fortunate are those who, through the Guru's Teachings, with the Naam, wash away the filth of their hearts. ||4||2||
ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
goojaree mahalaa 4 |Goojaree, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੇ ॥
har jan aootam aootam baanee mukh boleh praupakaare |The humble servants of the Lord are exalted, and exalted is their speech. With their mouths, they speak for the benefit of others.
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਸਰਧਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jo jan sunai saradhaa bhagat setee kar kirapaa har nisataare |1|Those who listen to them with faith and devotion, are blessed by the Lord; showering His Mercy, He saves them. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
raam mo kau har jan mel piaare |Lord, please, let me meet the beloved servants of the Lord.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mere preetam praan satigur gur pooraa ham paapee gur nisataare |1| rahaau |The True Guru, the Perfect Guru, is my Beloved, my very breath of life; the Guru has saved me, the sinner. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
guramukh vaddabhaagee vaddabhaage jin har har naam adhaare |The Gurmukhs are fortunate, so very fortunate; their Support is the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
har har amrit har ras paaveh guramat bhagat bhanddaare |2|They obtain the Ambrosial Nectar of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; through the Guru's Teachings, they obtain this treasure-house of devotional worship. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
jin darasan satigur sat purakh na paaeaa te bhaagaheen jam maare |Those who do not obtain the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the True Guru, the True Primal Being, are most unfortunate; they are destroyed by the Messenger of Death.
ਸੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਸੂਕਰ ਗਰਧਭ ਪਵਹਿ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਦਯਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਮਹਾ ਹਤਿਆਰੇ ॥੩॥
se kookar sookar garadhabh paveh garabh jonee day maare mahaa hatiaare |3|They are like dogs, pigs and jackasses; they are cast into the womb of reincarnation, and the Lord strikes them down as the worst of murderers. ||3||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਹੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥
deen deaal hohu jan aoopar kar kirapaa lehu ubaare |O Lord, Kind to the poor, please shower Your mercy upon Your humble servant, and save him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥
naanak jan har kee saranaaee har bhaavai har nisataare |4|3|Servant Nanak has entered the Lord's Sanctuary; if it pleases You, Lord, please save him. ||4||3||
ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
goojaree mahalaa 4 |Goojaree, Fourth Mehl:
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
hohu deaal meraa man laavahu hau anadin raam naam nit dhiaaee |Be Merciful and attune my mind, so that I might meditate continually on the Lord's Name, night and day.
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਜਪਿਐ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
sabh sukh sabh gun sabh nidhaan har jit japiaai dukh bhukh sabh leh jaaee |1|The Lord is all peace, all virtue and all wealth; remembering Him, all misery and hunger depart. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
man mere meraa raam naam sakhaa har bhaaee |O my mind, the Lord's Name is my companion and brother.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramat raam naam jas gaavaa ant belee daragah le chhaddaaee |1| rahaau |Under Guru's Instruction, I sing the Praises of the Lord's Name; it shall be my help and support in the end, and it shall deliver me in the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੋਚ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
toon aape daataa prabh antarajaamee kar kirapaa loch merai man laaee |You Yourself are the Giver, O God, Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts; by Your Grace, You have infused longing for You in my mind.
ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲੋਚ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲੋਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
mai man tan loch lagee har setee prabh loch pooree satigur saranaaee |2|My mind and body long for the Lord; God has fulfilled my longing. I have entered the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||2||
ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
maanas janam pun kar paaeaa bin naavai dhrig dhrig birathaa jaaee |Human birth is obtained through good actions; without the Name, it is cursed, totally cursed, and it passes away in vain.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਵੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਥੁਕ ਥੂਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
naam binaa ras kas dukh khaavai mukh feekaa thuk thook mukh paaee |3|Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one obtains only suffering for his delicacies to eat. His mouth is insipid, and his face is spat upon, again and again. ||3||
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jo jan har prabh har har saranaa tin daragah har har de vaddiaaee |Those humble beings, who have entered the Sanctuary of the Lord God, Har, Har, are blessed with glory in the Court of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਕਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥
dhan dhan saabaas kahai prabh jan kau jan naanak mel le gal laaee |4|4|Blessed, blessed and congratulations, says God to His humble servant. O servant Nanak, He embraces him, and blends him with Himself. ||4||4||
ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜੀਵਾਇਆ ॥
guramukh sakhee sahelee meree mo kau devahu daan har praan jeevaaeaa |O Gurmukhs, O my friends and companions, give me the gift of the Lord's Name, the life of my very life.
ਹਮ ਹੋਵਹ ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
ham hovah laale gole gurasikhaa ke jinaa anadin har prabh purakh dhiaaeaa |1|I am the slave, the servant of the Guru's Sikhs, who meditate on the Lord God, the Primal Being, night and day. ||1||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪਗ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
merai man tan birahu gurasikh pag laaeaa |Within my mind and body, I have enshrined love for the feet of the Guru's Sikhs.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਭਾਈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mere praan sakhaa gur ke sikh bhaaee mo kau karahu upades har milai milaaeaa |1| rahaau |O my life-mates, O Sikhs of the Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, instruct me in the Teachings, that I might merge in the Lord's Merger. ||1||Pause||
