ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਘੜਿ ਭੰਨਿ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੫॥੬॥
toon aape hee gharr bhan savaareh naanak naam suhaavaniaa |8|5|6|

You Yourself create, destroy and adorn. O Nanak, we are adorned and embellished with the Naam. ||8||5||6||

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
maajh mahalaa 3 |

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਸਭ ਘਟ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
sabh ghatt aape bhoganahaaraa |

He is the Enjoyer of all hearts.

ਅਲਖੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
alakh varatai agam apaaraa |

The Invisible, Inaccessible and Infinite is pervading everywhere.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
gur kai sabad meraa har prabh dhiaaeeai sahaje sach samaavaniaa |1|

Meditating on my Lord God, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I am intuitively absorbed in the Truth. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vaaree jeeo vaaree gurasabad man vasaavaniaa |

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who implant the Word of the Guru's Shabad in their minds.

ਸਬਦੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਲੂਝੈ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabad soojhai taa man siau loojhai manasaa maar samaavaniaa |1| rahaau |

When someone understands the Shabad, then he wrestles with his own mind; subduing his desires, he merges with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਮੁਹਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
panch doot muheh sansaaraa |

The five enemies are plundering the world.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
manamukh andhe sudh na saaraa |

The blind, self-willed manmukhs do not understand or appreciate this.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
guramukh hovai su apanaa ghar raakhai panch doot sabad pachaavaniaa |2|

Those who become Gurmukh-their houses are protected. The five enemies are destroyed by the Shabad. ||2||

ਇਕਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
eik guramukh sadaa sachai rang raate |

The Gurmukhs are forever imbued with love for the True One.

ਸਹਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
sahaje prabh seveh anadin maate |

They serve God with intuitive ease. Night and day, they are intoxicated with His Love.

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
mil preetam sache gun gaaveh har dar sobhaa paavaniaa |3|

Meeting with their Beloved, they sing the Glorious Praises of the True one; they are honored in the Court of the Lord. ||3||

ਏਕਮ ਏਕੈ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
ekam ekai aap upaaeaa |

First, the One created Himself;

ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
dubidhaa doojaa tribidh maaeaa |

second, the sense of duality; third, the three-phased Maya.

ਚਉਥੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਊਚੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
chauthee paurree guramukh aoochee sacho sach kamaavaniaa |4|

The fourth state, the highest, is obtained by the Gurmukh, who practices Truth, and only Truth. ||4||

ਸਭੁ ਹੈ ਸਚਾ ਜੇ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
sabh hai sachaa je sache bhaavai |

Everything which is pleasing to the True Lord is true.

ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
jin sach jaataa so sahaj samaavai |

Those who know the Truth merge in intuitive peace and poise.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
guramukh karanee sache seveh saache jaae samaavaniaa |5|

The life-style of the Gurmukh is to serve the True Lord. He goes and blends with the True Lord. ||5||

ਸਚੇ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਆ ॥
sache baajhahu ko avar na dooaa |

Without the True One, there is no other at all.

ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਜਗੁ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੂਆ ॥
doojai laag jag khap khap mooaa |

Attached to duality, the world is distracted and distressed to death.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
guramukh hovai su eko jaanai eko sev sukh paavaniaa |6|

One who becomes Gurmukh knows only the One. Serving the One, peace is obtained. ||6||

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
jeea jant sabh saran tumaaree |

All beings and creatures are in the Protection of Your Sanctuary.

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਕਚੀ ਪਕੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
aape dhar dekheh kachee pakee saaree |

You place the chessmen on the board; You see the imperfect and the perfect as well.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
anadin aape kaar karaae aape mel milaavaniaa |7|

Night and day, You cause people to act; You unite them in Union with Yourself. ||7||

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
toon aape meleh vekheh hadoor |

You Yourself unite, and You see Yourself close at hand.

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
sabh meh aap rahiaa bharapoor |

You Yourself are totally pervading amongst all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੭॥
naanak aape aap varatai guramukh sojhee paavaniaa |8|6|7|

O Nanak, God Himself is pervading and permeating everywhere; only the Gurmukhs understand this. ||8||6||7||

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
maajh mahalaa 3 |

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੀਠੀ ॥
amrit baanee gur kee meetthee |

The Nectar of the Guru's Bani is very sweet.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠੀ ॥
guramukh viralai kinai chakh ddeetthee |

Rare are the Gurmukhs who see and taste it.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
antar paragaas mahaa ras peevai dar sachai sabad vajaavaniaa |1|

The Divine Light dawns within, and the supreme essence is found. In the True Court, the Word of the Shabad vibrates. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vaaree jeeo vaaree gur charanee chit laavaniaa |

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur hai amrit sar saachaa man naavai mail chukaavaniaa |1| rahaau |

The True Guru is the True Pool of Nectar; bathing in it, the mind is washed clean of all filth. ||1||Pause||

ਤੇਰਾ ਸਚੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
teraa sache kinai ant na paaeaa |

Your limits, O True Lord, are not known to anyone.

ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
guraparasaad kinai viralai chit laaeaa |

Rare are those who, by Guru's Grace, focus their consciousness on You.

ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜਾ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
tudh saalaeh na rajaa kabahoon sache naavai kee bhukh laavaniaa |2|

Praising You, I am never satisfied; such is the hunger I feel for the True Name. ||2||

ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥
eko vekhaa avar na beea |

I see only the One, and no other.

ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ॥
guraparasaadee amrit peea |

By Guru's Grace, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੂਖਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
gur kai sabad tikhaa nivaaree sahaje sookh samaavaniaa |3|

My thirst is quenched by the Word of the Guru's Shabad; I am absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||3||

ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਲਰਿ ਤਿਆਗੈ ॥
ratan padaarath palar tiaagai |

The Priceless Jewel is discarded like straw;

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
manamukh andhaa doojai bhaae laagai |

the blind self-willed manmukhs are attached to the love of duality.

ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
jo beejai soee fal paae supanai sukh na paavaniaa |4|

As they plant, so do they harvest. They shall not obtain peace, even in their dreams. ||4||

ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
apanee kirapaa kare soee jan paae |

Those who are blessed with His Mercy find the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gur kaa sabad man vasaae |

The Word of the Guru's Shabad abides in the mind.
